Jerard
"Well in that case, regiment H. Next!" he gestures you towards the group of people who look generally meek and not combat orientated. They are talking with their commander. You see a familiar figure join their ranks
Nadia
You go to report in, as you arrive the commander greets you "Welcome!, we are regiment H, the medical unit."
Zamiel
The attendant takes your information down and says "Magic eh? Regiment R for you. They are right over there." he points to a smaller group of people.
Zanton
As you walk towards regiment C, you see that most of them have some form of axe/sword and some look like ruffians. The commander is giving a speech about the importance of this regiment.
Grumbaki
The attendant says "Have them back here and we'll get someone to appraise them and to pay you accordingly. Everyone should report to their regiment before nightfall, but sooner is better. Your regiment is over there." he points to the group that Zanton just walked towards.
Nadia Faelus |
Ignoring his comment and noticing that Jerard still has his chair, "What are you? special" Raising an eyebrow.
"anyway I'm just glad I didn't end up in logistics or something."
Red Rogue |
Maaaaybeee.
Zamiel:
You hear the guy on the box telling everyone, "Welcome to regiment R, we are the recon regiment, we will be in front of regiment C. While all regiments leave tomorrow morning, we leave tonight. This is not an easy place to be, but I have faith in your skills and confident that you'll become masterful trailblazers."
Nadia and Jerard:
You hear the commander off to the side talking about the importance of the H regiment, to bring up the rear and to support those in C and R.
Zanton and Grumbaki:
Grum, even though you may not be at the regiment, you can still hear this
You hear boom over the general sounds of the atmosphere "Alright! We are the Combat regiment and we will be the front lines of this force! We will fight for glory and honor! To crack the skulls of our adversaries! To bring honor to our names and gods! and to protect our families! Let us go to WAR!" regiment C is riled up and rearing to head into combat.
Nadia Faelus |
"Special, why would you think me special?"
I just squint at him and slightly tilt my head. Really!?
Red Rogue |
Zamiel
"Oh you misunderstand, the recon team is more than just scouting ahead. We need information, people contain information. Mages and rangers are the people in this crowd. The rangers will blaze the trails, the mages will support them and their efforts. If anything happens to regiment C, we'll fall back to support them." He waves his hand. "Pack your things, meet at the gate to leave the city in an hour. We'll provide you with supplies and rations there. Regiment C will be right behind us."
While this is still going on, you hear regiment C makes a racket.
Grumbaki and Zanton
The commander of your regiment starts marching you and the other men, even though you do not have orders to muster until next morning.
Nadia and Jerard
Your commander ends his explanations, and tells you to meet at the gate at sunrise tomorrow morning.
Everyone
Please detail what you do for the rest of the night. For Zamiel, you'll head out of the town and begin walking northward.
Nadia Faelus |
What rolls can I make to try to find someone sending messages back toward other cities, preferably ahead of the coming draft spree? I want to try to get a message back to my family.
Grumbaki |
For formation C, how are they supposed to fight? Are we talking about a formation where everyone is armed with similar weaponry, and the fighting is done in ranks? Because of that is the case, and we are talking about conscripts, then I'd expect the next few days to be dedicated completely to marching. And even then I'd expect them to be nothing more than rabble on the battlefield, given how hard it is to get a people to learn how to march in formation even in times of peace. I mean, with orcs barreling down towards you, I can imagine how hard it would be to get conscripts to do what you want when you yell "Column left...march!"
Or are they expected to really just be cannon fodder? Given no real training, put on the battlefield, and hoping that they at least slow the orcs down for the purpose of the actual soldiers?
Red Rogue |
Zamiel
the commander looks at you, "Tents and other survival gear will be issued at the gate on the way out. Field gear will be issued once we get to the established command post between this town and the mountains"
Grumbaki
They will receive military training once they make it to the established field command post, they will most commonly be used as guerrilla warfare/traps etc. They will still find themselves on the frontline every now and then. You will see plenty of combat
Zanton
They aren't issuing out gear yet, they will issue gear once you reach the field command post.
Nadia
You could ask someone if there's any runners going out and see if you can hire one of them, you also have no idea if the news has reached your home city yet.
Nadia Faelus |
diplomacy-to-find-messanger: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (20) + 13 = 33
If I find anyone heading out ahead of the news potentially, I plan on giving a small bribe to send an additional message.
Grumbaki |
Profession Soldier: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Grum spends his time training with the conscripted soldiers. He had, of course, soldiered years ago, and had to draw upon many old experiences. It was his hope though that he could impress the sergeants enough to earn a spot in the vanguard of any actions to come.
Red Rogue |
Nadia
The messenger promises to deliver your message first. It costed you 25 silver pieces to bribe him. After doing so, he runs off.
Zamiel
The regiment R commander says to you: "If you are unfit for this regiment, we can reassign you when we get to the operations field post. Until then, you are apart of this regiment. Understood?"
Jerard
You find one or two regular customers in the crowd. They seem a bit nervous, but never the less, ready to do what they must. Seeing familiar faces makes them more confident.
Grumbaki
You may not have left the town yet, but the regiment commander is already making you and the others train in the middle of town. He's rough, full contact sparing. After about an hour someone gets pretty seriously injured. He calls out "Valleus! I need one of your healers over here!. while looking towards the regiment H group. "You, go help out the injured man." he points to Jerard while saying this. While waiting for Jerard to come to the group, you see someone out of the corner of your eye approach you.
Nadia Faelus |
Message is as follows.
.
Hello Father,
I am writing to report my findings. It appears that you may soon find out that The Silverfang Empire is falling, they are sending people to draft people into the war force and liquidate goods. Use this information as you see fit, I will not judge whether you want to support the war effort or not. However, I am saddened to inform you that I have been drafted and may not be able to get home anytime soon.
Sincerely
Your Daughter
,Nadia

Jerard, Zanton, and Grumbaki
Jerard You successfully set his broken arm, training swords may be blunt, but they can still break bones. The commander for regiment H and C are watching you while to preformed this. "Why I'd say he's as good as the town doctor!" Yalleus says, and they both have a hearty chuckle. After a second or two, Yalleus clears his throat "Who inflicted this injury? Please step forward."
Some of the other conscripts turn their heads and look around, but the finally one steps forward. It was the same traveler most of you met in the inn earlier. "It was I." Yalleus begins to to scold him about being more careful when training on fellow soldiers.
Zamiel
The commander nods at you and looks over at the commotion that's happening with the C regiment's accident. "There's always one. Alright everyone in regiment R, form up, we head out now."
Red Rogue |
Zamiel
You step into what you consider the formation. There's not too much in terms of organization, and regiment commander shouts "Company move!" and everyone begins to walk forward and out of the gate to the city.
Everyone else
It's becoming night fall, and most people head home or to a tavern for one last night of drinking.
Nadia Faelus |
I spend the night in fetal position, unable to sleep well, thinking of what's to come.
Red Rogue |
Zamiel
As dawn breaks you find your regiment in an open field. The commander orders you to stop for now. This is where you'll take a short rest and begin again in a few hours. Most of the regiment is pretty tired so they happily sit down and take a breather. You hear chatter among the others about their life before this. "Oy ya? I yused ta be a trappa', foxes were me main deal. What about yew?" you hear one say to the other. Everyone seems to be in pretty decent spirits.
Everyone else
As dawn breaks across the horizon, you hear a horn, mustering all the people to be marched out. The town is pretty barren as you seem most gather into a make-shift untrained rank and file formation. Except for regiment C, they manage to make a semi-passable regiment formation.
Grumbaki
Your cart is stored in the jail/barracks in the city. The guards that remain in the town will ensure its safety while you are gone, one thanks you for your courage and valor for stepping forward. The others grant you their best wishes. "May your attacks hit true, and your god smile upon you on the battle field!"
Grumbaki |
Grum nods happily to the guards and bids them farewell as he makes he way to the mustering grounds. He was in a truly good mood.
As per the agreement, his goods were bought at 2/3 price. All of the weaponry in his cart, added together, came out to valued at 1787 gold crowns. Grum ended up with 1191 gold crowns, minus some change. This was a price he gladly accepted, knowing that he'd get the same amount after the war. To him, this meant a guaranteed profit on his goods, and a war to fight to boot. Truly, his god was smiling on him.
Nadia Faelus |
Nadia did not like waking up this early, Nadia especially did not like being woke this early to stand outside, Nadia ESPECIALLY did not like being woke this early to stand outside to go to war.
Today was not a good day for Nadia.
Zanton Steel-Speaker |
Regiment C!
Some time in the night, Zanton acquires a wooden chair from... somewhere. He's pretty stealthy, and hopefully nobody's too worried about looters right now. And as Regiment C marches out, he adds to the chaos in his own special way by riding on a marching chair.
Red Rogue |
Zamiel
When you arrive to the field post at night, your group is immediately ordered to the training ground. "Alright lads, the reason we left early is so we can be here at night. You are all going to run the training course in complete darkness! This will allow me to gauge how well you will operate in the field." The moment he finishes talking, the area becomes incredibly dark. deeper darkness spell. Make a perception check to find your way through the course, two acrobatics checks for how nimbly you cross through it, and a stealth check for how quiet you were while doing it.
Grum and Zanton
As regiment C marches, you hear marching music being played from the front. There are some who are very excited in this regiment. You'll be marching for the better part of the day. After hearing the music for a brief time, you both feel a surge of invigorating energy. You're not the only ones, everyone in the marching rank has started to move faster. you are all hasted
Jerard and Nadia
Regiment H is more relaxed then C, still standing in town for a good half hour before moving out. The regiment commander idly talks to whoever is near by. No marching music is played, no ranks are formed, a casual walk.
Red Rogue |
Zamiel
You do a fantastic job of traversing the course! When you can find it. It's a bit dark for your eyes and you stumble not due to incompetence, but because of an unnoticed hole or turn. You out preform most of the others. After you run the course, you're showed to a small makeshift barracks for a nights rest.
Zamiell |
Zamiel returns to the makeshift barracks, preferably after getting some sort of hot food and maybe half a wineskin. He will inventory his bruises gained from bumping into things on the course and contemplate the day's events.
Well, this won't do. I should have been towards the back of the class. Now they'll want to keep me. Well, if they're going to keep me, hopefully I can be an officer or something.

Important Notice
I've got bad news. The hurricane hit the house my family owns in Georgia really badly. Damage is unknown but the potential is pretty severe. I'm being called down to help clear debris, fix everything and clean up.
I will be gone for potentially weeks to a month or so. I will not have internet and probably no electricity for a while. I'm putting my campaign on hold until further notice. If you guys feel like jumping ship, I won't hold it against you. Too much is uncertain for me to be able to give you guys any form of solid dates.
