I am sorry for not posting in a while. Unfortunately, I am running into a lack of bandwidth between work and other demands and I do not believe that I will have the ability to continue to run this game. I currently plan to ask Paizo to switch control of the game over to Sir Andreas so that you can look for a new person to run the game. I am not the first person running, and I hope to not be the last. Happy gaming!

Saoirse Oparaeal |

Sorry to see you go, but I definitely understand.

Albert Malek Garess |

It's been great having you around. It's hard to both be consistent and run a group where the posting is so sporadic.
I've been taking care of a family member with some health problems. Nothing serious over the long term, but only unexpected.

Sir Andreas Eisfalke Von Ulm |

So...
It would appear that we are again in need of a dm. This is not uncommon for PBP games.
What would the group like to do.
I am of course planning on continuing with the game by finding a new DM.
All are welcome to join and stay on. If you wish to move on, that is no problem, and I wish you the best.

Duzz "Li'l Lamb" |

If I'm being honest, I'm not really looking into continuing. Back in 2018 when I played Kazmuk, we were lvl 3rd I believe. Now, six years later, we are lvl 4th.
I honestly do not feel we'll be able to finish it.

Albert Malek Garess |

The slow progress works for my schedule, but it does make for a long campaign. Sometimes I can forget to check if nothing happens for a few days.

Saoirse Oparaeal |

I'm pretty new so quite happy to continue.

Sir Andreas Eisfalke Von Ulm |

It is my hope that our new DM will move the game along faster and yes, I agree...it has taken too damn long for us to get this far.
That being said I will open up a request for a new DM in the next couple of days. The holiday will make this a bit hard.

Sir Andreas Eisfalke Von Ulm |

Hello! Forgive the intrusion as I wasn't officially invited to post here yet, but I needed some clarifications before I can decide how to resolve the current encounter.
1) You've passed the skill checks you need to make them agreeable to negotiate a resolution. Question is; were you using Diplomacy (for lasting relationships) or Intimidation (for temporary coercion)?
You are to never return to this region. Melianse,
2) Are you demanding the Nixie abandon her home?

Sir Andreas Eisfalke Von Ulm |

Diplomacy to keep all on a lasting relationship.
No, the phrase "you are to never return to this region" was directed towards the loggers. They can log in other parts.
I was trying to get them to both understand that that are both right and both wrong at the same time. If this makes sense.

Yes, it does, I just wanted to be sure I was clear on your terms.
I haven't gotten through much of the backlog yet, but just by doing keyword searches, it looks like you've had at least 5 encounters since defeating the Stag Lord? I found the Hermit, Beldame, Narthropple, Kunal and now the Nixie. If so, I think it's time to level up to 5th.
Am I cleared to start posting on Gameplay? Wouldn't want to overstep.

Saoirse Oparaeal |

I'm good with you taking over. Feels like a good fit.

bluedove |

I'm going to consider that a majority in favor and go ahead with getting you all moving again.
I'll need to catch up on some points for the future, but for now: does anyone know the approximate date? How long it's been since you rolled for your settlement, etc? Who has been managing all your spreadsheets and such?

Duzz "Li'l Lamb" |

Guys, I wish you all a happy gaming and that you actually finish the game!
When possible, please mark me as a former player, please.

Before you withdraw completely, do you have any objections to your other PC, Kazmuk, continuing with us as an NPC?

Saoirse Oparaeal |

Welcome aboard, and thanks for taking us on! Should we be leveling to 5th as you suggested in the previous post?

bluedove |

Thank you! And you're welcome. ^_^ I have a great deal of affection for the Kingmaker AP and you guys look to be a good group for more RP and diplomatic resolutions, which I appreciate.
Yes, lets advance to level 5. If you aren't really about 1/3 through Rivers Run Red, as it appears to me at first glance, the only downside will be that you'll linger at 5th level a little longer. I don't foresee that being an issue, especially running with 4 and no dedicated healer at the moment.
Don't forget my questions:
1) What would you say is the in-game date?
2) How long since your last kingdom turn?
3) Who manages your campaign data? Loot?
Looks like you've been rolling for hp, so we'll continue that with one addendum of mine. Take half HD +1 as your minimum and apply that retroactively as well.

Albert Malek Garess |

HP: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Our last kingdom turn, I think we received the event about the kid being kidnapped, and tracked him to the lizardmen. Once we returned him, we started on our current excursion without another turn.

Saoirse Oparaeal |

I'm the newest party member so couldn't really answer the first two questions.
I'd be fine with managing the Loot Sheet (I almost always end up doing that in games I'm in.) Question for the older party members, is the old loot sheet completely liquidated or just whatever's noted?
Bard level 5:
HP: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 (below 1/2 HD+1 so counting roll as 5 for total of 7HP)
Inspire courage +2
Loremaster 1/day
+1 1st level spell per day
+1 2nd level spell per day
+1 2nd level spell known
Feat: Extra Performance (6 bonus rounds)
8 skill points: (Acrobatics, Bluff, Diplomacy, Intimidate, Sense motive, Spellcraft, Stealth, UMD)
2 Background skills: (Perform (Dance), Perform (Sing))

bluedove |

I think I found the last posted kingdom turn.
Assuming 2 days per hex explored, you should be around 8 days into this exploration.
@Albert Malek Garess, you rolled a d20 for hp there... XD
Btw, is your character acquainted with Kesten Garess, the NPC from book 1?

Albert Malek Garess |

oops
HP: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
I don't know Kesten, but know of him. Garess isn't part of my name, but the name without it was already taken. He's from a cadet branch of the Garess family.
+1 Level 1 Spell
+1 Level 2 Spell
Arcane Pool +2
Feat: Craft Magic Weapons & Armor
I have an additional feat left, but wanted the check if Andreas is interested in any teamwork feats before deciding.

bluedove |

Gotcha, I found where your prior GM wrote Kesten and Akiros out of the campaign. I'm inclined to bring them back if that is agreeable. Seemed like they were well liked by the party.
Kesten Garess was friends with my PC from my prior Kingmaker game, who I'm in the process of rebuilding to serve as a party healer, albeit by somewhat odd means. ^_^
4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 2, 6) = 14

Rillka Cloudhopper |

Rillka was particularly close to Akiiros. Keston and Denton are both supporting the kingdom as NPCs; along with Father Jhod. Gird, Rhavi and Kazmuk were all previous PCs turned NPC
I like having regular NPCs have a role in the story.

Sir Andreas Eisfalke Von Ulm |

Sorry Albert, I went with natural ruler for my feat.
HP: 1d10 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 2 + 1 = 4
Well that sucks.
+1 BAB
Banner: Normal
Feat: Natural Ruler: Charisma
Increased:
Bluff
Diplomacy
Handle Animals
Intimidate
KN: Local
KN: Nobility
Perception
Ride
Sense Motive
DM:
I am not sure what items (links and such) belong to the old DM. I do not know if they will be removed at some point or not.

Oh goody... XD
Well, as they are google drive files, I will see about making copies that I can edit to protect against that possibility.Rillka was particularly close to Akiiros. Me too. ^_^
Using my search-fu again, it looks like the party learned Kesten's "dark secret" but not what drove Akiros from his lands and faith? He can be potentially redeemed back to a paladin of Erastil if the party likes that idea.
Rillka Cloudhopper |

Rillka =
Arcanist exploit - Armored Mask
+1 2nd level spells per day
+1 1rst level spells prepared
+1 2nd level spells prepared
gains two new spells: Glitterdust, Scorching Ray
+4 hp/ + skills

Andreas nods his thanks to Kesten, hoping to ease his tension.
KN: Nobility: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Apologies, I got busy cobbling together the combat post and neglected this roll. I assume it was in regard to Seraphina, if so was there anything in particular you wanted to know?
Probably the most notable is that she is half-Keleshite on her mother's side. Vesta Medvyed née al-Parishat is a distant great-niece to the Padishah Emperor and a Sorceress, thus an oddity among Brevic nobility. Seraphina's father was Glennwyn Medvyed, nephew to the head of their noble house, Lord Gurev. She is the youngest of their seven children and only daughter. Thus with no title or lands of her own she is expected to buy an alliance with another powerful house through marriage but she hopes to earn a position for herself on her own merits.
I believe I have made copies of all the relevant sheets but it will take me some time to look through it all and decide how to handle it moving forward.

bluedove |

FYI, I generally allow 48 hours or so between combat updates. I'll confess that I don't like to bot players myself and prefer another player call for and roll an absent PC's actions. Much like Saorise's player did for Duzz with the bear.
So in about 10-12 hours, I will be updating the combat. Hopefully, we'll see a post from Albert by then. If not, I will likely delay him or select non-combative actions, such as dismount and cast shield. Probably the latter in this case.

bluedove |

I am assuming that everyone shares their details...if not my apologies and ignore the post.
Andreas listens to all the rumors.
So if I am to understand all this talk... we have a lot of new areas that are dangerous to our people.A missing child, the Island of Candlemere, Old Crackjaw, the Worg Howls-of-the-North-Wind, a Hodag, Elven Ruins,a swamp witch, a Green Dragon, a Hill Giant, and a tribe of violent lizardfolk led by a lizard king who talks to his dead ancestors.
He lets out a sign.
I miss the days of orc raiding parties and bandits.
Reached this post in the gameplay backlog and thought it would help clarify what you've completed and what is still outstanding of the early book 2 content. Marked off the ones I was already sure you encountered/completed.

Albert Malek Garess |

We encountered the lizard men, but fled with the kid without defeating the will-o-wisp.

Albert Malek Garess |

The rule I've been following is that I can't draw my weapon if I take a move and standard action in the same turn but don't attack. If it's okay to draw in other cases, I just want to be be clear for battle tactics.

Saoirse Oparaeal |

Draw or Sheathe a Weapon
Drawing a weapon so that you can use it in combat, or putting it away so that you have a free hand, requires a move action. This action also applies to weapon-like objects carried in easy reach, such as wands. If your weapon or weapon-like object is stored in a pack or otherwise out of easy reach, treat this action as retrieving a stored item.
If you have a base attack bonus of +1 or higher, you may draw a weapon as a free action combined with a regular move. If you have the Two-Weapon Fighting feat, you can draw two light or one-handed weapons in the time it would normally take you to draw one.
Drawing ammunition for use with a ranged weapon (such as arrows, bolts, sling bullets, or shuriken) is a free action.

bluedove |

Thank you for the rich background on the NPC/Characters.
You are most welcome! ^_^ Characterization is one of my personal strengths. Likely owing to my theatrical background. Hopefully, I will remain consistent with their stories as you understand them so far. Though I will not be voicing Svetlana as French... XD
The rule I've been following is that I can't draw my weapon if I take a move and standard action in the same turn but don't attack. If it's okay to draw in other cases, I just want to be be clear for battle tactics.
I'm unfamiliar with any such restriction on drawing as part of a move action. Pathfinder 1E rules are as Saorise posted above and that is what I use.
Climbing and Swimming are the modes of movement I will generally not consider a "regular move". Also carrying or holding something that clearly requires the use of both hands would reasonably interfere with drawing a weapon. Hope that helps! ^_^

Just to be extra clear about what you're facing, the Scythe Tree is Huge (15 x 15 ft square), with a minimum of 15 ft threat range and reach, it's branches are basically natural weapons so it gets multiple attacks per round.
DR 10/slashing and vulnerable to fire (1.5x damage)
I only know of one type of ammunition that can deal slashing damage, Halfling Sharpstones. Makes sense for Rillka to be aware of these and most anyone can use a sling. Fire arrows/bolts and alchemist's fire could be useful too, albeit at greater cost.

Rillka Cloudhopper |

Sharpstones while known to Rillka are not something she has on hand.
And just to be clear we do not have time to rest and relearn spells, correct?
Rillka does have a flaming sphere spell on a scroll…
She also has invisibility- but I suspect the creature detects movement via its roots since Saoirse said it was an ambush predator, however if Seraphona wants to fly unseenRillka will use that on her.
Otherwise, she plans to use lightning…. 30’ range, but likely to hit.

bluedove |

Sharpstones while known to Rillka are not something she has on hand.

Tiressia made the offer for you to rest. It will allow time for her to alter your arrows, Andreas can fashion something to serve as a makeshift banner and you can enact your plan on the following day.
I will get the combat map ready!

Saoirse Oparaeal |

Sounds good to me. We'll likely need to be at full to deal with this thing as I'm sure somebody will eventually have to get up close.

Saoirse Oparaeal |

So unfortunately the Banner and Inspire Courage are both morale bonuses, so won't stack. Other than Blstering invective and Biting words (Which are both 30ft range) pretty much nothing I've got will be overly effective against this thing. All of my weapons are piercing. If the incendiary can work with crossbow bolts then I'll at least have that

bluedove |

So unfortunately the Banner and Inspire Courage are both morale bonuses, so won't stack.
Yes and no...
Banner (Ex): At 5th level, a cavalier’s banner becomes a symbol of inspiration to his allies and companions. As long as the cavalier’s banner is clearly visible, all allies within 60 feet receive a +2 morale bonus on saving throws against fear and a +1 morale bonus on attack rolls made as part of a charge. At 10th level, and every five levels thereafter, these bonuses increase by +1. The banner must be at least Small or larger and must be carried or displayed by the cavalier or his mount to function.
Inspire Courage (Su): A 1st-level bard can use his performance to inspire courage in his allies (including himself), bolstering them against fear and improving their combat abilities. To be affected, an ally must be able to perceive the bard's performance. An affected ally receives a +1 morale bonus on saving throws against charm and fear effects and a +1 competence bonus on attack and weapon damage rolls. At 5th level, and every six bard levels thereafter, this bonus increases by +1, to a maximum of +4 at 17th level. Inspire courage is a mind-affecting ability. Inspire courage can use audible or visual components. The bard must choose which component to use when starting his performance.
So Banner is purely morale, boosts all saves vs fear effects, and grants an attack bonus only if you are charging. Inspire Courage is only morale for the save bonus but will also cover charm effects. The attack and damage are a competence bonus, so they will stack with the banner attack bonus, but again, only on a charge.
And yes, crossbow bolts will work the same as the arrows. Map is ready, working on the opening post now. Andreas token is merged with his horse as he plans to use mounted combat (right-click and ungroup if you want to dismount), I expect Rillka may ride her dog, but as that wouldn't result in a larger map footprint, I didn't try to work it in.

Albert Malek Garess |

I could use my arcane pool to boost my chance to hit, but I also want to keep a couple of points in reserve, as I can now use them to make my sword flaming. Could be useful if I am forced to get in close.

bluedove |

Kesten wears full plate armor, wields a longsword and shield and carries a composite longbow on his back, so he can carry out your plan as described.

Duzz "Li'l Lamb" |

Guys, whenever possible, please remove Duzz from the current players so I can clear my campaign tab.
