You mean you still haven't figured out who put feces and bones in your armor?!

I assumed it was some random fey, but now... Just wait until I get some truth compelling spells!

Well I feel a bit better.

Anything you guys wanted to buy from Oleg just post in OOC tags in your next post. Thanks to your efforts Oleg carries almost all adventuring gear. Merchants and trappers are visiting him rather frequently now.

Any update on the repairing of the masterwork studded leather?

Ah crap, I forgot about that during my not feeling well.

Manservant's Craft Armor check; 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27

Ta dah! It is fixed.

Ta dah! You can put my old one in the loot!

Anyone has heard of Scipion?

I hope he is OK.

RPG Superstar 2011 Top 4

Since I'm calling the two Serpent's Skull games I'd like to keep playing this one. Put a lot more time in it, more familiar with the AP, and it's a great group. I shouldn't have trouble with just one game even with family issues atm. So please start checking in regularly again I'll do my best to keep this game on the front page.

Sounds great, SdF. We appreciate you taking the time. But if you need a hiatus, just let us know. I think from time to time we all have RL intrusions that we need to cope with.

Thank you Scipion for the confidence and the investment. I'll try, on my side, to make the game worth your time.

It's pretty obvious Scipion's issues are not resolved as quickly as foreseen. I have no problem with that. RL first.

As to the KM game, is anyone still around to revive it?

What would our options be:
-Get a new DM and ask Scipion to play if and when he can?
-Change roles for a while? One of us could DM for some time, with Scipion as a player, until we feel it's time for a change.

I like the game and the characters and would hope to find a solution.

To all players and Scipion: let me know if you're still around and your thoughts on the next step.

I'm still around and willing to go forward. I don't have the AP so I couldn't take the lead on it, but I am open to the other options you put forward.

AC 24 (25) HP 30/30 AP 8/8

I'm still here as well.

Great,

Let's see if Set and Scipion see this, then we'll "talk".

And Dathom/Lukasz!

Dark Archive

Some dude

Present, just busy with a new job. (On the up side, I have a job, which is a plus!)

I also do not have the AP.

I feel like we never really recovered our footing when we lost Dorgar/Garrick and RedAssassin/Ox... (Still hoping they are okay!)

Heya.

So same day I posted the last update my computer started up for the final time. It is totally shot, which means I've sadly lost all the map files except for what's been posted online. I've been trying to get another copy of Windows cause I think all I need is a reformat and install, but its proving difficult and I can't afford to buy another copy.

I've only really been able to go online while at work, which has been making home interesting. (Thank goodness for Netflix on XBox Live) If someone (with or without the AP) is interested in running the game instead of me send me an e-mail. I can fill you in on some of the behind the scene details.

I could flesh Tuck out a bit more as a Player Character. I'm open to whatever ideas you guys have.

When it rains, it pours...

Good to hear from you Scipion. So I understand that you might not be up for it for a while still?

Waiting to see if Dathom shows up. I've seen someone on Mythweavers.com with the same handle. I've sent him a private message. We'll see if he shows up.

I' out for two days, probably without a computer.

I'm back.

Still nothing from Dathom...

That means three of the original group, with Scipion.

On my part, I would have to think on it a lot before I commit. I'm running one game for some friends on Mythweavers.com and find it quite a challenge. To take over KM from your hands seems like a lot... I would have to forget about playing. As I said, I need to think on it.

What are your plans? You mentioned computer problems. Do you mean that you would resume your DMing after it's fixed, or would you prefer to play instead of running the game?

RPG Superstar 2011 Top 4

Usually both my wife and I have a computer, but my OS crashed and my computer will all of my stuff on it is lost. No matter what I tried it would just boot up to the windows logo and freeze. Tried all the safe boots and repairs and what nots, but no joy. My wife usually monopolizes time on her computer playing Aion, Global Agenda, or Minecraft, so it is currently very difficult for me to get online at home.

I don't know when we'll be able to go back to two computers. I might work for a month straight or something to earn enough scratch for a second one.

Ok, thanks for this info.

I'm applying on two games at the moment. We'll see how this will go, then I'll see what I can do about the KM game. I don't want the game to die, but I'm not sure I can keep up DMing two games, and I'd prefer to DM only one and play in other. I'll see how it sits with me. I'm probably going to buy the first book of the AP in case. How far (% or objectives) would you say we are in it? Just so I know whether I could get away with the pdf only?

I'll keep you updated.

RPG Superstar 2011 Top 4

Spoiler:
Well you guys have explored about 80% of of the hexes. Major things left being the Stag Lords fort, and the mite lair. Mite lair is a little hectic, lots of fights that can lead form one group to the next, and on different levels.

I'm contemplating working a stupid amount of overtime to earn enough to buy a new computer...

Still no news from Dathom.

As I look at games dying all over these boards and others, I feel there is a need to try and do something.

RL happens, then what? in a way...

I have a crazy week. I'll get the pdf and see. One area that truly scares me, as I have no background and feel I would start from scratch, is map making. Scipion, how do you do it??? Can someone like me get away with it? Please share some of your tricks. It might move me in the right direction.

Still thinking, another issue comes forward: Scipion could tweak Tuck to get in the group. Should we invite another player, or would Tuck be able to fill in the many gaps?

Please give me feedback.

Not sure how we stand with a tank, and for Kingdom building might need our Knight in Shining armor.

I also know how you feel about the mapmaking. That is the one reason I am not running any games online right now. Don't have the time to learn how, or the time to make the maps. I often thought about advertising for a "co-GM" to handle the tactical side while I handled the Roleplaying.

I could start shifting Kalsgrim away from an archer path and more toward a front-liner.

The maps online are also daunting to me. I have thought on a couple of occasions about running different things but that has always held me back.

And I know about you mean... The last week or so I've seen some of my PbPs die, but all of them have slowed considerably.

Tank-wise, let's not forget Ember and the summoned crew. They can hold their own.

I'm more worried about skills, survival and spellcasting.

I got the pdf, trying to find time to go through it. Things are moving.

Scipion, with the map info, please let me know what you would like to play.

(As you can see, the idea is really growing on me...)

Thanks for taking the yoke! Take all the time you need. We'll be here. I suspect Tuck would fill some of the survival and skill gap.

RPG Superstar 2011 Top 4

I've always thought of Tuck as a rogue/bard type character. Probably full bard to help with the spell casting.

I made the maps 2 ways. For the Hex map I used Inkscape. Plugged in the map from the PDF and added three layers. One with the fog, one with the black unknown, and one with locations and paths.

For the battle maps I would either use the provided maps with added fog and player tokens. Or I would make my own map using a site called Ye Olde Map Maker, screen shot it, cut out what I want in paint, put that into Inkscape, and add the tokens and any missing details.

Inkscape is a free vector-based program, all of it's support and how-to stuff is available online.

I'm starting my stint of working for 2 weeks to buy a new computer. I'll see if there's a way to put my old hard drive in an external case to manually access the information when I get the cash...

Thanks for the information. The website is a boon!

I believe I will step in!

Tuck can be whatever you want, really. No need to feel pushed in a direction or another. You can even have someone new coming to the fort, who is related to one in the party, for ease of integration. Corso will have gone with Ox and friends instead.

I'm assuming, for now, it's until the end of the first part of the AP. Afterwards, we'll see where we stand.

Stay tuned for the IC thread (tomorrow if possible)!

RPG Superstar 2011 Top 4

Send me an e-mail if you have any questions about the AP or anything.

Thanks, I will.

Ok, with Scipion's advice, I remade the Greenbelt Map. It's in the IC. You're a little after the Thorn River Camp.

We'll give some time to Scipion to ready a PC, then move on.

RPG Superstar 2011 Top 4

Looks good!

fort = fjord

Almost done here for the day, but I'll finish up the sheet tomorrow at work.

Just to clarify, when I was noting map locations, I put C+1 to indicate the column between the two labelled C and D. Also, I put 3.5 to indicate the row between 3 and 4. Hope that helps!

@Markofbane: It's pretty clear. No problem. I was using the C/D for the in between squares.

It feels great to see the game going ahead!

I must say though that it certainly is time consuming to be DM! You did an amazing job Scipion. I started a discussion on E6 in my other game (Eberron, I'm aiming for E8 actually). As intensive as it is, it might be a good solution to keep DMs sane as the game progresses.

Meanwhile, good luck with the ambush.

Question for everyone: I have some friends playing in a PbP over at Mythweavers.com. As we are not so numerous, I was wondering if it would be a good idea to invite some of them to join. What are your thoughts?

I wouldn't have any objection to bringing anyone else on board. We started a party of seven, so a couple more wouldn't be so out of place.

Some dude

A few more would probably be pretty handy about now, and bringing in people that have already been 'checked out' rather than recruiting cold may work out a bit better, since our group was already kind of pre-formed.

Male Daytona 500 DM / 12

I'm all for adding one or two more. PbP seems to work best with around 6 players, but like Set I would prefer them pre-qualified.

[George Carlin] How can they pre-board? Are they going to get on the plane, before they get on the plane? [/George Carlin]

RPG Superstar 2011 Top 4

I don't see any issue with adding a couple more. If you do bump up the player count AK has a great thread in the KM section for running the game with 6 players. I referred to it frequently.

Ok Javell, you're in! Welcome aboard.

25 pt-buy, 2 traits, one from the player's guide, average gold for level one for now.

Feel free to build the character you like. Right now, the group has:

-Servayn, summoner.
-Kalsgrim, paladin.
-Janku, cleric of Gorum.
-Tuck, bard

We have switched DM for now, with Scipion playing and me DMing. We might change back if circumstances allow.

You will meet the group after their ongoing fight, probably on their way to the Stag Lord fortress. As the group will be third level by then, please build a third level character also. Make sure your background meshes either with one of the group's member, or their covenant.

Let us know how it goes.

Male Human Bard 3

Suppose I should flesh out my background a little bit >_>

I really wish things would calm down for me.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Thanks to all! Hey Scipion, good to see you're still hanging in there. Don't give up on us. We're still rooting for you. Hope things settle down for you.

Gonna go with a Ranger. (Rangers and Fighters, that's what I like!) Will get to working on him ASAP. Got a RL Second Darkness campaign we're continuing right now so it'll be tonight.

We using APG rules?

Don't know anything about this AP, so, what is a covenant exactly? Is it in the player's guide?

Ranger will be helpful. Could you make more melee oriented? Our paladin was going for range.

Yes for APG.

The coven... Sorry, I meant the charter. Our Kingmaker campaign thread starts with it.

You got it on the melee. I was wondering if I should go melee or ranged.

The charter. Cool. Thanks.

Am I supposedly going to know everyone already? Or is it gonna be like running into them and meeting them for the first time?

As to knowing people, I would suggest either being related to Kalsgrim's family, two former players were retainers of his family, or perhaps knowing Tuck from the work you did together in the past, as Swordlords' agents. The last link would explain what you are doing in the woods around the Stag Lord's camp and would help the characters trust you quickly.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Okay. I think I'm gonna go with the Tuck angle. Went from pioneer to rostlander trait. That helps it (for me anyway) make more sense. The way I had it, I couldn't find a connection with anyone.

Thanks for throwing those options out there. That helps narrow it down and make it a little easier.

Right now, philosophically, the party is split between Janku and his faith in Gorum, seeing every encounter as a new challenge to overcome, a new fight to win, Kalsgrim and his faith in Erastil, seeing the challenge in civilizing the Stolen Lands, through violence or diplomacy, whichever seems most appropriate, Servayn and his Summoner-y notion that everything and everyone is a potential tool (not uncommon a viewpoint in those who summon expendable minions, to begin seeing creatures as potential resources), and Tuck, who, frankly, we know crap-all about, other than he seems to get deeper and more complex the more we learn about him, which could be us unpeeling the layers of his onion, or him just making up new crap everytime we talk to him...

If your Ranger is into Erastil, that will likely change the balance. If he's into Gorum, that will swing it another way. If he's into Gozreh, he'll just add yet another point to our compass rose. :)

LOL!

Yeah, I noticed Tuck's background is a little "vague". ;)

Going to go with Erastil.

@Other Mastermind: Was wondering if I should just randomly choose a favored enemy from the players guide or is there one that you (or anyone else for that matter I guess) would recommend?

(By the way, pretty clever the whole Scipion "doppleganger" you got going. That's good stuff.)
