It takes 2 days for each one, unless you increase the DC. The base CL is 7th, and the spell level is 3rd, so 7*3*50=1050 gp base price. 1050/1000 is 1 and a fraction, which means it counts as 2 days' worth of work (8 hours each day).
However, you could voluntarily increase the DC from 12 to 17, you can just take 10 and craft one per day. (Note, "Regardless of the time needed for construction, a caster can create no more than one magic item per day.")

Carina Viera |

I can easily make both of those daily checks... :D
So subtract 2100 GP from my share for the two potions I brew.

So, that's the definitive end of The Champion's Belt, AoW's fifth installment out of twelve. This is also a bit of a farewell to the Free City of Greyhawk, at least for the installments themselves.
The sixth installment will begin shortly. In the meantime, what were your thoughts on the Champion's Belt? What parts worked for you, and what parts didn't? Any problems with the way it was run?

Carina Viera |

I liked this module very much. :) The whole tournament deal was a lovely change from the last adventure.

Yeah, there was still some loot to be appraised and stuff. My money log should be up to date now.
I believe potions are brewed per hour, not 8 hours.
Only if under 250 gp. "Scrolls and potions whose base price is more than 250 gp, but less than 1,000 gp, take 8 hours to create, just like any other magic item."
Does anyone wanna check and see if there's a wizard with teleport in the city limits? Otherwise we should bite the bullet and buy four more horses.

WHAT? "Good job saving the Free City from certain doom. Now get out and STAY OUT. Why don't you go see what's up in stinky ol' Diamond Lake."
:::muttermumble shoulda taken them up on the job offers muttermumble:::
I had plenty of fun with the installment. Got to do some kickass (well, relatively, for Eben) bow stuff for the first time ever, so that was neat.
Speaking of which: 9696 gp + the 8838 I already had (including my side bet winnings)= 18534. Selling my old bow & armor nets me an additional 2275, for a total of 20,809. My new bow is 13,400, leaving me 7409 to buy a new set of armor with. A +1 mithral agile breastplate is 5,400 gp, and with 2,000 leftover I can't quite afford getting it glamered. That can wait for a slightly more extravagant future date..

Carina Viera |

Oh, it'll be fine for me. Fharlanghn would probably object to Carina staying in Greyhawk for much longer anyway. :)
By the way, Astraden, do we still have the Apostolic Scrolls?

Tanith 'Kordson' Creed |

Tanith was going to get some more ink done but he's a bit shy. Anyone have ~2k they can loan out?
Edit: Nevermind, I'll just sit on the gold for now.

Tanith 'Kordson' Creed |

I was considering a eagle totem tattoo so Tanith would have some form of self-powered flight but it's a lot of gold for something that I'm on the fence about.

She does.
Reading them is also one of two major prerequisites for the Wormhunter prestige class, incidentally.

Carina Viera |

Really? What other prereqs does it have?

DankeSean RPG Superstar 2010 Top 32, 2011 Top 4 |

So what does it even do? You've never mentioned it before now.
He did, it was just a long time back.

Kobold Catgirl |

So what does it even do? You've never mentioned it before now.
Mainly because nobody had the scrolls. :P
The wormhunter is basically a "one size fits all"-type class. It allows you to keep advancing partially in your current class, while gaining certain other benefits relating to Kyuss, his servants, and powers gained from a live worm you deliberately ingest when you take your first level in the class. It will need hefty modification to work in Pathfinder, of course—letting you sneak attack undead isn't quite as useful anymore.

![]() |

It's certainly more flavorful than evangelist (but works similarly). Basically, by surviving a necromantically- and Kyuss-infused worm in your thinkpan, you picked up some of its knowledge, sentience, and divine link to Kyuss. Every odd level you get a special ability that generally boosts one of your native abilities . . . but in order to qualify for the single ability that boosts fighting, you need to take an ability that boosts your healing spells, if memory serves. I was reading over the class and considering it last week, but letting a worm gnaw on her brain is a bit too much of a risk for Astraden.

Carina Viera |

The Apostolic Scrolls reading? I'm just really waiting for Astraden to supervise me while I read it for info.
Of course, we can perhaps table that until after we get going.

Rynjin |

I was going to write something about how Farrukh annoyed Eben with incessant chatter for teh hours they were getting fitted, but it occurs to me that since I'm just getting my armor upgraded, that'd be a job for Phrexis I believe. Up to writing a short post about a naked crazy man, KC?
I always like seeing what you come up with for how the items end up looking. Big fan of the tentacle sword.

Rynjin |

Are we going to be using the new Ultimate Combat errata?
It's actually a pretty good errata, but the one that actually affects this game is a nerf to Abundant Ammunition (no more infinite Adamantine arrows).

DankeSean RPG Superstar 2010 Top 32, 2011 Top 4 |

Dammit, there goes my plan to go through 20 levels of archery training and never have to pick up Clustered Shots!
Eh, it's errata, I'll take it without excessive b#+##ing. Honestly, I always felt abundant ammunition was actually a less exploitative way of getting unlimited special material ammo than, say, buying a ton of durable cold iron, adamantine, and mithral arrows.
Still, it was a nice hack while it lasted.
Can I retrain the spell slot, KC?

2 people marked this as a favorite. |

Now if only there were some way to get around DR. Something like a ill-conceived magic item created expressly for that purpose by someone who doesn't like the rules of the game... hmm...
Hey, KC, apropos of nothing, RPGSS open call entries are totally kosher to purchase in this campaign, right? I ask only out of idle curiosity.

Invest heavily in weapon blanches.

Invest heavily in weapon blanches.
Ah, the irony. I didn't even descend to the 'weapon blanch + abundant ammunition' level of cheesery before; I was an honest exploiter and bought the real stuff!
But yeah, I see alchemical powders in my future. :::Eben bats his eyes at the undine and calls, musically... "Oh, Cariiinnnnaaa...":::
So as far as my new spell: the deja vu spell from Occult Advntures seems potentially useful. No save (that's the exciting part), affects one enemy, forces him to redo his next rounds worth of action. That's his next action after I cast it, mind you, so I can't force someone to be useless, but it could still be used to limit opponents choices in combat. (Cast it on someone at the start of combat, his turn he moves into melee range and ttacks, next round he can't full attack because he has to move and standard attack the same opponent again. Cast it on someone in melee, he full attacks on his go, whoever he's up against moves, and on his next turn he's forced to full attack that person agaiin... but he can't, because they moved, so he's automatically confused. And there's some fun to be had using it on spellcasters if they don't have multiples of the same spell prepared...) Am I missing anything that makes it suck?

Kobold Catgirl |

So, to those wondering: No, Robin isn't "back for good". Draconic Cow still doesn't have a lot of time free, and seven players is way too much to handle long-term (which is why Robin will be on a firm "NPC-as-needed" schedule). You can consider this a short cameo for the sixth installment, A Gathering of Winds. Its primary purpose will become clear later, but I felt it would be fitting for the return to Diamond Lake to bring back an original party member and establish some closure.
Erip's still dead, though.

Astraden Limhaare |

For the record, Jelani, out of character Rodrigo's post was very funny - Astraden just can't get a giggle out of a facsimile of her lost romantic interest. (At least, not when her hometown has just been destroyed.)
