Hey guys, hope you don't mind me dropping in to discussion.

Just wanted to say I've been following this thread for a good while and been really enjoying it. Props for this game's quality and endurance.

This thread? Well, I guess the OOC banter can be entertaining at times...

In seriousness, cool! Glad you're enjoying it so far.

Only because I passed my stealth check, Tanith :)

This is one of the best AP's I've played at the table so it's great to see it played through in pbp format.

I'll leave you guys to your boss fight, good luck all!

Well, technically, it's not lurking if one announces themselves...

Rynjin, earlier you were wondering if you might want to spend an AP to gauge the Apostle's HP. I never got back to you on that, but I'll just tell you now: Had RNG not just pulled the meanest prank since I rolled max damage on an unconscious alchemist, the Apostle of Kyuss would be dead right now. Deader.

So it seems to be headed for Raknian.

It's an amusingly ironic thought, but might he count as a 'champion' as far as 'consume this to jump start the apocalypse'-ability?

We're gonna have to save the bad guy, aren't we.

I'm just imagining the lion leaping heroically to bring the Apostle down, fangs bared, letting out a mighty roar, the music swelling into an epic climax...

...then there's a record needle scratch as the Apostle just AoO crits it.

Did the lion previously take damage? I should have been at one HP.

Female Kobold

It took four damage previously from golems, and Astraden's channel explicitly was unable to include it.

QQ.

It would have been cool if Rodrigo had to option to spend action points to keep it up or something.

I mean, I hope we'd have at least a round or two to laugh as Raknian gets crunched around in its mouth like a big gumball.

"Ha, ha, look who just got hoist by his own petard!'
BOOOOOOOM
"Ha, ha, even the fact that the city just exploded and the skies filled with dark green and purple clouds doesn't take away from the humor!"

I don't get it.

Is it a sports thing? Everyone knows you're not allowed to reference sports while playing RPGs. It's just wrong.

Female Kobold

Cecil's sacrifice will be remembered. The Apostle doesn't have Combat Reflexes.

Cecil is a lion that was recently poached by some American dentist.

This fight is epic. Well done KC. I’m totally using the BBEGs go twice thing at some point in the future as well as giving them APs.

Thank you! The Apostle is one of the most complicated rebuilds I've done so far in this campaign—largely because it's one of my favorite encounters in the AP. I'm glad (and somewhat relieved, in light of recent events) you're enjoying it.

So I realized that Eben was right on this one. The last thing I want to do is devalue Farrukh's expensive fancy boots, too.

Tanith, you can keep this round's attacks, and I'll let Eben get away with it, too, just to be "fair". After that, keep the rule in mind.

That moment when you wish with all your heart that Bombs threaten on a 19-20 instead of on just a 20...

Female Kobold

That would be making me feel really bad right about now, so I'm glad they don't.

No, that wasn't Concealment. That was the tendrils' other main ability. You can spend an AP to bypass them for a round next turn, if the Apostle still lives by then.

Mean GM retconned by George Lucas. In this new, improved Age of Worms PbP, Carina's shot will be allowed to hit to make my character seem more likeable.

Oh. Didn't know that.

Female Kobold

Actually, I'm going to let it go. Whether or not the vials themselves count as "magical weapons" pre-explosion is a gray area I shouldn't be forcing my will upon right now.

Female Kobold

:(

Female Kobold

If anybody would like, you can narrate a way your character somehow causes one or both of the misses. Chalk it up to one AP, which will be restored after this fight, anyways. Astraden, Rodrigo or Farrukh can have it place during their turns if it makes the narrative easier to craft.

If nobody takes this offer, I will give it to Khellek.

...that's totally blackmail.

Actually, I've been conserving APs since that first expensive bull rush shot, since I figured I'd used up half my APs for this level in round 1. Can I retcon an additional AP shot on to my full attack and try and clear out the last skeleton? Not that it makes a BIG difference, but it's bugging me.

Female Kobold

I'm afraid that as you have been banned for your snarky commentary on my master narrative I do not have time to answer your Yeah, go ahead.

It's a fancy shirt, actually. And it only costs 1000 gp, so being able to use Action Points for the same effect is still a bigger sacrifice IMO, so being able to wouldn't devalue it much. =)

Yeah, a pet bouncing around on its hind legs was the image I had pictured with my 'in defense of the ulgurstasa' comment.

So... as soon as the worm is down, Rodrigo should teleport Tanith or Farrukh into Raknian's box so the well-deserved pummeling can begin.

That'd be like a computer game where you're fighting a boss and it's hard, but you're looking forward to seeing it added to your stats as 'most difficult enemy killed' and then an NPC or summoned monster winds up doing a piddly yet fatal amount of damage to it at the last second and you get NO LASTING CREDIT.

I'm looking at you, Pillars of Eternity.
