I look to Ulrik and give him a faint smile, "That sounds like a very good plan, however it doesn't help us if something happens to one group while the other is elsewhere. We could always say that Marcus and I were travelling to the village looking for refuge and we met you on the way, you said you could lead us to someone in charge and that is why we are at this Cindi's house, or wherever we are at the time?"
Vironus dips his head down into his palm, shaking his head side to side with a slight smirk.
Yesterday you announced what we were doing to the entire town, and now you want to act like we coincidentally bumped into River and Marcus, before splitting up? My plan's easier and is a lot less likely to get us all in trouble. If we go ahead with your idea, we're sitting ducks. At least in a group of two and three, if one lot of us got into trouble, the others would be able to surprise our enemies.
Vi looks to the docks, then towards Cindi's house.
Look, splitting up is seen by many as a bad idea, but Cindi's house is over there, and the docks are here. We're not far away from one another and so far nobody knows we're travelling together. There's no point revealing the fact we're all together and then splitting up as it contradicts the whole point of splitting up, having one known party - you, myself and Rogar, and one unknown party is where we hold the advantage.
Listen, do what you want. I've heard enough of these silly plans, with some of you disagreeing just because it's I who's making the suggestions. You can do as you please, but I'm going to search around town to find some extra clues. We found nothing at Cindi's yesterday so I'm going to find the Triumvir who gave us the wagon. Who knows, maybe I'll get to dirty my blades.
As Vi starts to walk off, he turns back and laughs.
Who knows, by the time I've solved this, perhaps you would have made your decisions on where you should next go.
"We are travelers none here truly knows us."Turning to Vi he looks to him as one might look to someone who completely missed the point."What I am saying is we go our separate ways with it appearing they thank us for our aid. Just in case any see us talking now. Then we investigate separately but stay near enough to each other as to aid each other. Limited Divide & Conquer."

I look to Rogar and Marcus,
Dwarven:
"They are very impulsive, aren't they? Well they both want us to split up and I think doing so would just make things easier for us, so I say that the three of us head to the house where Cindi was and we could look for any additional information. Then if we find something, or don't find something we can head to the docks and conduct our own investigation. At least this way there won't be any more arguing., do you both agree with this plan?"
Upon hearing Ulrik's idea, Marcus gives a brief smile.
"For now, it's better if we act that way. We won't rise more suspicion about us and still can be in contact if any troubles appear..."
And then, to Vironus:
"Overconfidence has brought demise even to the mightiest warriors. I wish you good luck, but I'm afraid I can't take responsability for your actions.
Well then, we are splitting up. Rogar, River and myself are going to Cindi's. You can wander around the docks or wherever you want to be. Once we are done there, we are heading to the docks, if you want a meeting point."
Dwarven:
"It seems that we are going now. I hope we haven't make the wrong choice leaving those two alone in a unknown place... Shall we go?"
Then, he leaves towards Cindi's, waiting for Rogar and River to join him.
You approach the small area, splitting up as you enter the town proper. Seeing some 30 people milling about, mostly humans and dwarves, with a few halflings and gnomes thrown in. All but four are moving boxes around. A tall human and a gnome standing on the deck of the ship, and the other two triumvirs.
@River, Marcus, Rogar:
Rogar easily leads you down the deserted street to the building that housed the triumvir, and she seemed to hold some meetings as well. Many of the things have been picked up in the past day, but it is still a little cluttered.

"What you say is true, River. Vironus is brave and an experienced fighter, but he's no soldier. Cindi's magical darkness completely shut him down yesterday. He needs to learn the value of caution. Ulrik is a mystery to me, I'll confess. He has the stubbornness and fervor of a neophyte Paladin but lacks basic common sense at times. Hopefully they won't get into too much trouble while they're off on their own."
When they reach Cindi's house, Rogar looks around to make sure they're not being observed and enters. Once inside, he divides the structure into quadrants and begins searching for anything of interest.

Dwarven:
"I agree completely, a leader should carefully study the situation and try to find more than one way to resolve it. There is no need for violence, unless violence is the last resort. I would follow either of you into the darkest cave or the smelliest lair, you both have been kind to me and I have no doubt that if things took a turn for the worst, you would suggest fleeing. I fear that Vironus with his love of combat would try to fight his way out of it, maybe endangering the rest of us in the process."
Pausing in his tracks for a second, the warrior turns around, smiles and beckons the man over.
Follow me Ulrik. We can discuss things on the way!
Vi is looking for one of the Triumvir's or a point of interest such as a Triumvir house, seeing as everyone's practically at the docks, but we'll see what he discovers first.
Ulrik whispers to Vi."My first thought won't work. But I got to thinking. In the south there is a Pirate Town who appears to be a very law abiding town. They enforce strict laws. The reason why is this keeps their true business hidden. I am thinking this town seems almost as odd as that one does. You follow me?"
You have my understanding and I agree with you, which is why I think we need to find the residency of all Triumvir in town, seeing as they're pre-occupied with the shipments right now. Perhaps we can uncover some information by sneaking into their homes and searching through their belongings. I feel it's our best chance.
You spend a few moments looking around the room, but dont find any magical auras around.
@Rogar:
You take a few minutes to do what you think to be a good search of the room, and come across a few maps, a storage space where the diary was, some ledgers, some seemingly holy scriptures, and a note in a strange language.

Rogar responds to Marcus' question. "Aside from some maps and ledgers, there really isn't much here. I did find a note, however, but I'm unable to decipher it. Maybe you can do better?" He walks over and shows the note.
@GM: What do the maps show? Any markings? Ledgers of financial transactions? Do I recognize any names? Scriptures of which deity? And what's this about a diary? I don't remember any mention of it before.
Ulrik smiles and whispers back.[/b]"I agree. Shall we get on it then?"[/b]Ulrik then moves to inspect the nearer buildings. Using hand signs to communicate to Vi.
You notice many people look your way, and some wave at you apparently thinking you are there to see the triumvirate, while others glare, since you don't seem to be working. However, none approach you while they are so busy.
@Vi, Ulrik:
You go to the houses, examining them. Some are locked, some aren't. When you approach the two larger ones across the courtyard from Cindi's, you find both are unlocked as well, presumably the other triumvir's.
@Rogar/River:
While neither of you speak the language, River knows it's written in Aklo. A scrawl in the bottom, written in a shaking hand in common, "Dawn in the forest."
The diary, Ulrik picked up last time you were here as you went for a carriage for Cindi
As to the ledgers, you see many places and people listed, the temple, Sumak, the Burning Tavern. You do see a line a little disturbing. A delivery of a very strong pesticide to the Burning Tavern.
Neither of you recognize the deity in the scriptures, but see many mentions of [Iiosla^nii'yu] [za^hud'ni] and a couple mentions of [Mie^dra'lo]. Which seem to be heroes called [Sru'pa'lox] (either a country or the name of the saga, you aren't sure). It varies in language, from common, to Infernal and Aklo. But to you it mostly seems like ravings of a madwoman.
Vi nods to Ulrik and shifts his head over towards the larger house on the left, then heads inside.
Untrained Stealth:1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12Not sure if I need to roll, but hoping that's enough considering the whole town are pre-occupied with other things, and should hopefully be fairly far away.

GM, Marcus and Rogar:
I look at the note, "That is written in Aklo, unfortunately I have not studied that script or tongue. But that last line does say Dawn in the Forest, which I am thinking refers to the Noxmater again. It would seem there are a few things pointing us to the forest, the same amount pointing us to the mines and that all the answers will be held at the keep."
I look up from the note and at my friends, "Well it would seem there is little else here, maybe we should head down to the docks to see what else we can find out now?"
HP: 14/17 | AC: 20; T: 12; FF: 18 (+4 vs Giants); CMD: 17 (+4 vs bull rush/trip) | Fort: +5; Ref: +3; Will: +1 (+5 vs poison/spells/spell-like abilities) | Init: +2; Perc: +2 (+2 if stone-related)

Marcus/River:
"I agree. We should share our findings with the others, and the quicker we find them, the less trouble they can get into."Taking the letter, scripture, and ledger mentioning the pesticide.
"You said that these words are written in Aklo... Can you decipher it? If not, I think we should seek some kind of sage who can translate it for us. For now, we should take our leave."
Then, he take a second look at the crowd, hoping to not raise suspicions once the group leaves.
Once the group leave Cindi's, Marcus begins to walk ahead of River and Rogar, heading to the docks.
"Well, I say we should go to the docks first. Maybe Ulrik and Vironus has found something, or they have already caused so much ruckus that they might be in trouble. Once we regroup and compare what we have found, then I suggest we should seek after someone who can translate those words for us."
And then, seeing Rogar holding the papers, he ask him:
"Rogar, what are those paper's contents? Are they also written in Aklo, or some obscure tongue as well?"

"I can't see them getting into too much trouble in this short amount of time, unless they decide to challenge people to fights ... Maybe we should hurry?"

GM/Marcus/River:
"Well, there's a religious text of some sort. I was thinking maybe the folks at the chapel could give us some information, because I can't make head or tail out of the language. The book's just a financial ledger, but I noticed that a large amount of poison's been delivered to the Burning Tavern. That's troubling....
"I think we should find Ulrik and Vironus and get back to town. We need some answers."
Well Ulrik...no bed, no living quarters, no dining hall....nothing but empty space. I think we should report back to the others, then hold up in here for the night, to see if this building is being used at all.
HP: 20/20; AC : 13, Touch : 13, Flat-Footed : 10, Init : 3; Fort : 1, Ref : 4, Will : 5; CMB : 0; CMD : 13, Speed (Base and Swim) : 30ft,
GM, Marcus and Rogar:
"Poison?! That is definitely worrying, we should speak to them soon about this. I just hope that they are not connected to this curse." With that I follow Marcus out, as described previously.
As you leave the building, you notice your wayward compatriots walking across the central area, leaving one house and walking toward the third large building.
Vi/Ulrik:
You walk toward what you believe to be the dwarf triumvir's house, and as you attempt to open it, you find it locked.
Ulrik, head to the left and I'll head to the right. There may be an open window the Triumvir forgot to close. If all else fails, well...breaking and entering is our next option.
HP: 20/20; AC : 13, Touch : 13, Flat-Footed : 10, Init : 3; Fort : 1, Ref : 4, Will : 5; CMB : 0; CMD : 13, Speed (Base and Swim) : 30ft,
Seeing Ulrik and Vironus heading towards the large building I tap on Marcus' shoulder and point over to them discreetly. We walk over to them and get to them as they go to open the door. "We found a diary and some receipts, what have you found?"
I know you just came out, but I'm pretty sure you wouldn't notice us just like that, unless they're exactly opposite Cindi's house, because you didn't know where we were going for a start. It doesn't make sense. :/
Greetings one and all. Have your travels made you weary? Do you wish to relax at a tavern where the people are all friendly?
Then come on down to Ecland's Burning Tavern, and have a nice warm drink on me.
:You are a group of adventurers taken out of your comfort zone into a place a little less hospitable, with a bit of a curse and a mystery behind it.
Character guidelines::
18 point buy
1st level
2 traits (not of the same group)
Race: core, Aasimars, catfolk, Ifrits, Oreads, Sylphs, Tieflings, Undines, Sulis, fetchlings
Alignment: Non-evil (or psychotic murderous neutral)
NO PVP: It is very rare that I would allow something like this; possibly duels (non-lethal)
class: no gunslinger (without a strong case)
no 3pp
max hp
max gold
You will start in a warm clime, but not for long. (yes, is a tad meta, but...)
I would like you to post regularly, myself am more likely to post from 1130pm-9am CST
I do utilize hidden rolls (though potentially in a spoiler)
I would like to see some backstory, what are the little things leading your character to this point.
If your character could have one wish, what would it be?
What does your character believe his strongest strength to be?
His(or her) greatest weakness.
How does your character see himself in the wider world?
Dotting for interest. I'll be submitting a Dwarf Armor Master sometime tomorrow once I edit his stats to match your requirements. He's your standard defensive tank type, but his backstory is (I think) what makes him unique. As I said, I'll put him up tomorrow for your consideration.
When would be starting? How often should we need to be able to post? And any more setting or background info available?
I'd like you to post at least daily, if you can. As far as setting, you will start somewhere in the Inner Sea proper at some tavern (maybe sandpoint, just because I have some idea of the area), then moved to an area far to the north, near the Crown of the World, in response to a an unknown border town needing assistance. You wont be starting in Ecland, but you will not be long elsewhere beforehand.
This is my own creation with some help on the forums, that I hope will be successful and interesting.
Golarion based, so I have some kind of backbone and don't have to invent everything anew, and it has a good bit written about it, but where I might be able to slip in more things besides.
You don't have to start being all knowing each other, but you will get a different way to introduce your characters.
One thing I like about online play, and i think it would translate even better to PbP, is that I don't do well RP in person/voices, etc but I can do alot of things with written word when the mood strikes me, so I hope to bring an interesting world and location.
and No, I did not rip off of the winter AP, i didnt realize there was such a thing when i wrote alot of this.
I'm interested, but I don't I'ld be able to meet your daily post requirement. I work nights every Thurs - Fri and the odd Wed, and it's the only place I get internet access. Living in the boonies sucks as far as that is concerned.
well this character was built for a jade regent AP and never got in.
stuff in the profile just need to tweek stats for this game a bit.
see profile for info.

I present to you Rogar the Beardless: Dwarven tank. I just need to purchase gear, and he's done. Any feedback would be appreciated. :-)
I would like to see some backstory, what are the little things leading your character to this point.
Rogar was had just come of age when his village was attacked by Orcs. Badly injured and left for dead, he blames himself for this tragedy. Shaving his beard, Rogar feels that he no longer deserved to be called "Dwarf" and has taken the title "the Beardless". He has since moved to Sandpoint where he is trying to forget the pain his memories bring him.
If your character could have one wish, what would it be?
To go back in time and either save his village or die with everyone else.
What does your character believe his strongest strength to be?
Rogar is physically tough and will use all of his resources to defend those around him. If an enemy wishes to harm any of Rogar's companions, they'll have to go through him first.
His(or her) greatest weakness.
Haunted by the memories of the village massacre, Rogar is experiencing severe depression (PTSD) and no longer identifies himself as a Dwarf. As a result, his ego/self-image couldn't be lower.
How does your character see himself in the wider world?
As a nobody, not deserving of anything. In fact, if Rogar died, he'd quite possibly be doing the world a favor (in his mind).
Crunch:
Rogar the Beardless
Level 1 Armor Master (going for Living Monolith PrC)
Alignment: NG
Languages: Common, Dwarven, Orc
Hmmm ... What would the Dire Stats be? I can't seem to find them anywhere, also if I was to go with a Dire version, could I keep the original appearance (so not the bumps and spikes)?
I am starting to toy with the idea of the Witch more now, even though the stats are more suited to the Druid. But I am never one to Power-game, I always create my characters for the flavour of them. So they are very rarely "min-max'd".
Ah hello Whack-a-Rogue, I saw you try your hand in "Follow the Flood Road", may we both have better luck this time around.
Ah, okay ... now for another silly question. Where would I find the Dire Weasel? I have looked for it and maybe I just keep on overlooking it.
I have looked through the message boards and people have said to use the Wolverine Stats for a Dire Weasel (or Otter in my case). I am guessing instead of having a Climb and Burrow Speed, the Otter would have a Swim speed. But not sure what I would do with the Rage ability ... maybe just lose it?
Now just wondering which you think would run better in this campaign, The Druid or the Witch? The Witch would be less modifying as there is already an Otter Familiar. I will let you decide which of the 2 classes you think would be best and then I shall create that class, with my Race and Otter :)
I must say I am still a little confused about the Stat Buy for this. Is it 20 points (as per the book) or this 1 for 1 thing? Also is it a maximum of 18 before or after Racial Modifiers?
I can see either working with this campaign just as easily. gonna look through the thread see if I can place all the people that have posted so far.
Limits are always pre-racials, and is a one for one, like if you gained 4th level. a straight bump.
----
Lou Kasuri Human monk, love-sick painter- Looks good so far. need to tweak stats a bit, still missing a couple points. a couple more questions to answer, and I'll work something with the trait.
Rogar - beardless dwarf fighter, engineer - definitely tanky...
what kinda gear we looking at?
well this character was built for a jade regent AP and never got in.
stuff in the profile just need to tweek stats for this game a bit.

i believe the back story is included; I will be changing at least one of the traits since it can only be applied in a Jade regent Adv Path.
one wish/ well reagrdless on the trait it can easily be deduced from the backstory
greatest strength: a rounded character built to be helpful and fun. besides being an artist and a cook he can throw a punch or two. in abr fight he can be your best ally.
greatest weakness: game mechanics wise he isn't a real combat powerhouse but he can fight. also if he runs out of wine he can be pretty near useless.
in the wider world: eventually open his own bar / Inn and double as a dojo for martial arts training to selected students. he prefers a simple life not one of glory or fame.
Ah right, well I can see that Rogar is a combat based character, are there any other Arcane or Divine Casters in the group ... that have been submitted so far?
Oh ... That is making me think more towards Witch then, as I can balance out my scores still ... hmmm.
Edit : Nevermind, I have just seen the little list of created characters. Seeing as there are at least 2 Combat based characters, I have decided to create my Witch. That should give us a little Arcane assistance and will make having the Otter companion less necessary (as it won't be the only fighting type). I will still be having the Otter as a Familiar though. I shall get to creating the character after this work shift is over.
Feel free, the more the merrier. Though I'll admit the archer pally still makes me wince... not gameplay wise, just the breaking of concept... maybe I just play with too many LS pallys
is one thing I haven't seen yet is a divine caster.
and until a friend looked at it for PF, to me pally has always been in the thick of things. Most games, the pally is in the thick of things. Not saying I mind the paradigm shift, it just hasnt sunk in yet.
I think for some that is the reason why they like it. It is something that is Flavourful. I mean a Paladin of Abadar using a Crossbow or a Paladin of Erastil using a Longbow.
Explanation on Modular Spell Slots:
Modular Spell Slots is something me and one of my friends came up with while playing with the idea of a d20 Final Fantasy-Esque setting. We figured most of the Spells wouldn't be very high Level and it seemed like a waste. So...
We designed it to where you could take a spell slot and break it down into small spell slots on a 1-For-1 rate. And yes that comes up a lot in my groups.
Basically my Cleric can use his 3rd Level Spell Slot to prepare 3 Cure Light Wounds Spells. or 1 Cure Light Wounds Spell and 1 Bull's Strength Spell. As they add up to Level 3.
Or Vice Versa. So I could use 2 1st Level Spell Slots to prepare a Bull's Strength Spell.
You are still limited by your Max Spell Level. So the above Examples would require a Level 5 or Level 3 Cleric Respectively.
In the Left Column you enter in your Spell Slots according to your Class Chart and Bonus Spells Per Day from your Attribute. The Right Side shows you the amount gained from each level while the bottom right cell tells you the over all total.
We have found it bumps up Casters a bit but it does allow them to use more lower level spells without feeling cheated. And it makes the Split Slot Arcane Discovery a bit more valuable. Though my Houserules also buff Martials a bit...
I admit, I like the concept of the modular, and does fit FF rather well I think. I may use it in another campaign, but don't have enough experience to try something like that this time.
