Rogar the Beardless |
Rogar staggers momentarily as the dark energy washes over him. He sees the room darken and Cindi reappear in the corner. With a shout, he draws his axe as he rushes to her. Move Action: directly between Vi and Cindi (should be F4) Brandishing his axe menacingly, he shouts, "None of that now. Drop the talisman and start talking." Readied Action: attack if Cindi starts casting a hostile spell or channels(?) again
Current HP: 14/17
Vironus Antilles |
We must block the door!, Vi says as the halfling calls for her guards.
Initiative: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Vironus Antilles |
Just posted above. I'm on 10hp right now, but on phone so can't edit profile easily. Got lower initiative than Ulrik. :-)
Vironus Antilles |
Rogar, where is she?
Thinking that Rogar has moved in front of him for a reason, Vi moves swiftly around and next to Ulrik, using Acrobatics 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21 and blindly lunges at the corner Rogar faces.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Confirm critical:
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Once our order is taken, I head into the library where I start to look for any books that may contain information about the Curse, the mines, religions and the local history. Once I have found them, I sit down with Marcus and place them on a table. I give him the book on religions and get him to look through for a god or goddess featuring an eye primarily. I sit down and start to skim through the remaining books for any other information. Arirai curls up into my lap, where he falls into a silent sleep.
IejirIsk |
You can see where she is, however, she is in dim light, so is hard to hit her.
Vi swings back with a mighty swing, and manages to hit only air as the shadows trick his eye. "Guards!" she shouts again.1d20 ⇒ 10 She takes a swing at Rogar and Vi, 2d20 ⇒ (4, 7) = 11 and misses both by a long shot.
Ack... mapping pain...

I missed? I thought that would have hit with such a high number as ooc we've effectively cornered her. I think it's like -5 to hit blindly. Could be wrong though.
IejirIsk |
Stupid site...ate my message...
She definitely has concealment, since she is in dim light, and without an effective method to see in it, though. is a %chance to hit (or rather miss). 20% for normal conceal, and 50% for total [which also disallows sight targetting], but no penalty to hit with plain conceal other than miss chance.
You place your order, and Dangrio nods almost absentmindedly. You walk into the library and find a multitude of books on many topics. Searching through you find some on the Noxmater Forest, which apparently had a different name centuries ago. You also find some on Grazilplitz and Castle Sengir and many documents giving reasons for the war between them. You also find some old treaties between the two and the snow elves and the original information for the formulation of Ecland.
Partway through your browsing, Dangrio places your order on a table set away from the books, and asks you to be careful before slipping back out.
Vironus Antilles |
Ah, the one time I get critical, I fail on a miss chance lol. Typical.
Not having fought invisible creatures before, Vironus, unsure of what to do, attacks once more, still aware of Rogars attention in front of him.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Rogar the Beardless |
When she swung at me and Vi, my readied action went off. What's she attacking with?
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 EDIT: ugh...
Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
River Calah |
Elven : "The forest is what the spirit who brought me here showed me, with some figures similar to myself and Arirai. I think that may hold some information to solving this, I doubt he would have showed it to me if it wasn't important. Would you like to read the books on Grazipilitz or the books on the original formations of Ecland? I am sorry if this isn't what you were hoping for, but written knowledge is often better that spoken knowledge as people forget to say certain things or exaggerate."
IejirIsk |
Vi manages to deliver a couple well placed blows to the shadowy shape. Rogar, while being able to see Cindi just fine, his attack is turned by her armour. She seems to start seething in anger as she looks around.
Vironus Antilles |
I meant because 19-20 is my critical threat range and I've always played with if you fail to confirm, it still counts as a hit, but yea, if I failed on a miss chance, no worries. Just sucks! Haha.
Doing this just as a free action, as it's Ulrik's turn to attack (or should have been before mine, but I was just typing up my action with the last attacks. :)
Give up now and you may leave with your life! We only wish for answers! Vi says, looking somewhere in front of him.
Rogar the Beardless |
Waiting for Ulrik, but here's what I'll be doing unless something drastically changes.
Rogar takes a 5-foot-step toward the wall to finish blocking in Cindi (me, Cindi, and Vi should make a right angle)
"The darkness is a cute trick. Doesn't do you any good though - I can see you just fine, and there's nowhere to run. Why are you being difficult? Drop the talisman and the stick, and let's talk. As Vironus says, we don't want trouble - just some answers. This is your last warning." Again, readied action to strike if she makes a hostile action.
EDIT: Looks like Ulrik posted in the Discussion tab, so here's my action.
Ulrik Snow |
Ulrik moves to block the door. He throws it open. Ready to halt the Guards he steps out and yells."Flee for their is one who works with Hags in here! Or else my holy blade shall cut you down!"
If you need a bluff check I can comply just remember it is pretty believable given it is shining bright right now.
EDIT: Stupid Chrome Tab Navigation...
Vironus Antilles |
Since we're not attacking in this round...
Vironus stands, both blades held across one another, widening himself as much as he can within his space, so that if the Hag attempts to pass, he'll feel the woman move past him.
Stand Total Defense - New AC:20
Rogar the Beardless |
@Vironus: A hag? When did she stop being a halfling? Or are you giving your opinon about her looks? ;-)
IejirIsk |
"Is the goody dwarf afraid of dying like his brethren? The children fear no death. We rise again." As she takes a couple swings Rogar.2d20 ⇒ (12, 18) = 30 Possible 1 hit: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6Dang, all her other escapes are blocked by darkvision XD and she does appear to be more halfling than hag.
Rogar the Beardless |
Rogar sees the quarterstaff come up and takes a mighty swing with his axe.
readied action went off
Attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Damage 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Vironus Antilles |
Haha, nah. Ulrik called her that, so Vironus, not knowing of anything other than Witchcraft or Sorcery, has assumed she's a Hag....Halfling or not, a Witch is usually referred to as a Hag. :p
Then may the Gods have mercy on you, as you depart this world, Vironus says as he takes two more full swings in the same place he did before.
Attack 1: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Attack 2: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Rogar the Beardless |
"Hold up a minute, Vi, she's down. Ulrik, what do you see?" While he talks, Rogar removes Cindi's talisman and quarterstaff but doesn't search her any further.
Untrained Heal check to determine how badly she's injured.
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
Rogar the Beardless |
Rogar puts the talisman into his pocket to examine later then attempts to drag Cindi's body towards the door and Ulrik's light. "She's bleeding pretty badly. Anyone have a way to slow it down?"
Ulrik Snow |
Almost annoyed at the events going on he turns to walk back inside."Seems it wasn't worth the trouble warning them that the Triumvirate was attacking."Walking back to your area he speaks just low enough to where only you can here."Have you finished her off yet? We will take her prisoner. Rogar, get some rope and restrain her."Ulrik then makes some motions towards her with a faint light going from his hand to her body.Casting Stabilize. He then turns away and walks back to the doorway and looks over his shoulder and hollers back."Restrain her to a chair. I will question her once I am ready."Then speaking just loud enough to where you can hear him."Should have been an Inquisitor... Wonder what god her Talisman is for."
EDIT: Got Ninja'd on my post...
Rogar the Beardless |
Rogar ties Cindi to a chair, taking his time to make sure that she's securely fastened. Then he walks to the doorway and shows the talisman to Ulrik.
IejirIsk |
1d20 - 4 ⇒ (6) - 4 = 2
She finally stabilizes, and remains unconcious. Tieing up is kinda harsh... DC-wise, I mean.
The talisman. Kudos to CMHart from me.
After about a minute, the darkness dissipates
Ulrik Snow |
Ulrik takes the Talisman & Examines it."Thanks Rogar."Knowledge(Religion) Untrained If Needed: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
BTW: Drop Magic Weapon from my Spell List before. Forgot about Diminished Spellcasting. ;P
EDIT: She didn't need to stabilize as I used a Spell to Stabilize her.
Vironus Antilles |
Sorry for the delay guys!
Vironus stops his swings mid attack as Rogar asks him to.
Thanks for the warning. It's dishonourable to hit someone when they're down, but when you cannot see your opponent, things are far harder to guage.
Vi puts his weapons away and looks at Rogar.
How did she remain in your sight? Without paying attention to your actions, I wouldn't have known where to strike.
Rogar the Beardless |
@GM: Looks like an Escape Artist DC 25 if she wants to free herself. If she can't get that on a Take20, it's impossible. :-)
@Vironus: "There are certain advantages to being a Dwarf."
@Ulrik: "Do you recognize the holy symbol?"
Ulrik Snow |
He is a Crusader. Not a Priestly Cleric. Though if he falls he will probably be replaced by an Inquisitor of Gorum who comes to learn why he fell.
While in the doorway he motions for Rogar to wait for a minute then calls to the town."This Villa is off-limits by the Order of Ulrik Snow, Crusader of the Iron Brotherhood. Anyone who interferes will be put under suspect of aiding the Hag-Sworn and suffer the same fate! Am I Clear!?"Waiting a bit and having no-one answer he yells louder."AM I CLEAR!"To make his point he slams his sword into the ground at his feet.
Vironus Antilles |
Guessing we can see her now?
A handy skill you have there, that's for sure.
Vironus searches her pockets and belongings for any additional information, patting her sides and cleavage (avoiding the love cushions) to ensure he hasn't missed anything.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
As Vi searches the woman, he laughs slightly and turns to Ulrik.
If the Guards took no notice before, I'm sure you'll have their attention now that you've made them think Cindi to be dead.
Vi smirks.
All they need to do is barricade us in and set this place ablaze, and it sounds like you welcome them to do so.
Rogar the Beardless |
"Good point, Vironus. Ulrik, shut up and get back in here. Didn't you hear her calling for the guards a minute ago? You're going to get us killed."
Funny, I pictured Vi being the guy yelling "HEY EVERYONE! WE'RE OVER HERE!" Apparently Rogar's traveling with TWO impulsive humans. ;-)
Ulrik Snow |
Vironus Antilles |
Haha! Well, nah. Vi has a good amount of common sense. It's just he misses the excitement of combat within the arena, so he gets caught up in the moment sometimes. The life of a Gladiator is all he's known, so he's been trying to find his place in the world, ever since being free'd. He loves combat.
Well, good luck to them if they intend on getting past us. I think today has proven one thing, and that is the three of us make for a good team.
River Calah |
Vironus Antilles |
...Of course.
Bluff: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (14) + 0 = 14
Rogar, let us find a wagon/sleigh of some sort, to both hide this body and transport it, along with us, quite hastily back to the main town.
Rogar the Beardless |
Sense Motive 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17 that was about mentioning the Iron Brotherhood, right?
"Very well. Ulrik, stay here with our unconscious friend and for the gods' sake, keep your fool mouth shut while we're gone. We've caused enough trouble already."
Vironus Antilles |
Yep!
We'll see you shortly, brother.
Vironus holds out his hand, in an effort to lock arms with Ulrik.
IejirIsk |
@Rogar: Yea... unconcious and a penalty to dex...
@Vi: Yea, you can see her clearly now.
You seem to get a couple people to at least notice you, and when they notice where you are at, they start mumbling and walk off.
You learn much of Grazilplitz, a dwarven mining town. Majestic in its glory, it was the main source of many metals in the area. The dwarves were there for centuries, long before man set foot on this northern wasteland. They had some small trade with the snow elves in the forest beyond the mountains, and greeted the humans as trading partners when they came to build their keep above ground. That keep became Castle Sengir. Both the dwarves and the humans thrived on the trade it brought in, and Desnal was built almost overnight to ship the metals out and goods in.
This worked out well until the last of the Sengir of the castle reigned. He became obsessed with the wealth that was brought in, and was certain the dwarves were holding out on him. Eventually he made war upon the dwarves. Many said it was foolhardy, but he did it anyway. Outnumbered and far outclassed in military might, he began to despair and delved further and further into the occult searching for some answer.
Many theories exist, but most think he found either some weakness in dwarvenkind, or his research into the occult bore fruit. Either is as unlikely. All anyone really knows is the dwarves were routed from Grazilplitz, and the Castle went silent. Eventually Ecland grew from the refugees.
The forest has always held some sense of secrets, but many of these arose from the frequent visits of Baron Sengir during his mad war with the dwarves of Grazilplitz. Sometimes these tales are exaggerated with tales of a coven haunting the woods, but nobody has found any proof of them.
