Something I was just thinking about, what would the possability of going Sith or even dark sider be?

@F. Castor: Thanks for the submission. This seems like an interesting character. To answer the use of Destiny points - we will not use them. (I will put one caveat in place - if it seems like it will enhance the story, the characters may find that they've discovered that they have a destiny.)

@Storyteller Shadow: As a Jedi level 1 - you know the basics. You can teach your fellow force sensitive people - but that will be akin to a grade school student teaching Algebra to their class mates; there's a lot of opportunity for mixed messages.

@Elrawien Lantherion: While there is ample opportunity to turn to the Dark Side. This campaign is supposed to be about being heros ... even at a a local level. My intent is that dark siders will become NPCs. (which could make for interesting play, as old friends are now enemies.)

Cool. So I am guessing you are fine with the lightsaber explanation?

Other than that, the character is ready. I will just be swapping out the credit chip for a couple of power packs and an extra 50 credits (a credit chip costs 100 credits, while two power packs cost a total of 50 credits). And that should be it.

Dotting for interest. Saga Edition is my favorite Star Wars system, and I'm a sucker for a Star Wars game. I joined a couple of other Star Wars Saga PbPs, but they all seem to have stalled out.

I'll hopefully have a character up by the end of the day, or tomorrow at the latest. Maybe Force-sensitive, maybe not. We'll see.

Edit: Real quick, how do you feel about multiclassing and, instead of taking one of the starting feats, taking training in a class skill? I have a martial artist concept that would benefit from the Elusive Target and Acrobatic Recovery talents of the Jedi class, but don't want him to be Force-sensitive or the like.

No biggie, I just thought I would ask. I have been in games where people want to go dark side and others do not and it really messes up the campaign because they play chaotic dumb.

@F.Castor: I'm alright with the lightsaber back story. There are plenty of stories in the expanded universe where trained Jedi "bucked the system" or took matters into their own hands. Yours fits. The one point: you will not be able to take any LS fighting forms until you meet someone who knows them and is willing to openly teach them...

... or you character becomes uber focused and develops a unique one.

Sadly, life has not given me the time to work on poor Cubie. It looks like the tech with the good memories didn't trust the logs and mindwiped the droid again. And once more for good measure.

Fair enough. Besides, considering how far ahead access to the Jedi Knight PrC and its lightsaber forms is, I think I will see what can be done about it if or preferably when we get there. Hopefully by then the group or at least Corven will have met someone (living or even dead) or found something (not sure what, a database, a manual, a holocron?) that could instruct him in the ways of the Ataru form and perhaps one or two others.

As for developing a unique one, I am not even sure how that could be done within the rules system, but again, crossing that bridge after getting to it and all that.

Anyway, as I said, that is quite a bit far off at the moment, especially considering that recruitment period has not yet ended and the players have not yet been selected. :-)

Edit: In case you missed it, Phntm888 seems to have a question for you a couple of posts before this one.

Backstory:

Renlo Tacksa was discovered as an infant by a Mon Calamari Jedi named Neslahl Emra, and his parents agreed to allow him to be taken to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant for training. In the Temple, he was trained with other Younglings in the basics of the Force, which was not particularly strong with him. He tried hard, but found himself having difficulties using the Force where his peers succeeded. He grew somewhat frustrated by his failures, though he tried not to let it show. When he was old enough, he was put forth as a candidate for Padawan training, and was passed over. Each time he was presented, no master would choose him. Upon his 12th birthday, he was given one final chance for apprenticeship, but none materialized. The Order assigned him to the Jedi Agricultural Corps, and he was sent to the Outer Rim world of Garqi. After a year there, Renlo was chafing under the rigidity of the AgriCorps and decided farming was not for him, and he took passage on a trader’s ship.

That became his life. He learned many of the necessary skills for crewing a starship – piloting, astronavigation, sensors and the like – and he would join a ship’s crew for a few months or a year, then, when the crew either disbanded got too rigid for him, or grew bloodthirsty, he would leave and join another. When the Clone Wars broke out, he joined with a group of “independent traders” who plied both sides of the conflict. Eventually, the group started sympathizing more with the CIS, and Renlo, along with a few others who didn’t want to take sides, chose to leave the group. He spent the remainder of the Clone Wars working with them.

He found out about the end of the Clone Wars, the creation of the Empire and the Jedi “coup” attempt, while he was waiting on the ship with the mechanic for the captain and the other two crewmen to come back from delivering a cargo of ryl. The wave went out to the entire galaxy, and they watched it sitting in the ship’s lounge. Just before the end of Palpatine’s speech, the captain and first mate ran aboard the ship, yelling for them to hurry up and take off. Confused, they got the ship up and running, and asked what happened. Apparently, the Twi’lek they were delivering the cargo for had tried to short them, and when they protested, a shoot out had occurred, killing the navigator. The captain shot the Twi’lek, and then learned a horrible truth: the Twi’lek wasn’t the crime lord, a Hutt was. They fled the planet, and two days later, landed on the beggar’s moon. Renlo, deciding it was unsafe to stay with the ship, took his leave of the crew, despite the fact he hadn’t received any payment for their last job. Now, just a few short days later, he continues to try and find someone to hire his services – preferably before the money runs out.

Renlo believes that, while the Jedi do try to force their morality on others, they did not attempt to overthrow the Republic, simply because they were too hidebound and stodgy to do so. Still, he wonders what happened, and has considered trying to reach out to those who may have still been with them at the fall to find out what really happened.

A Mon-Calamari! :) Can we sing that old McDonald's fish nuggets song with the goat that would say, FIshy Fishy?

I am unfamiliar with that commercial. But we can sing the "give me back that filet o' fish" song.

@phntm888: Thanks for the submission. Nice concept. I apologize for missing your question previously.

Characters to this point:

Gotal; Umbaran Jedi
Donovaan Taar; Human Noble (Force sensitive)
Moroka Janis: Human Jedi Padawan (mechanic)
Jak Kato: Human Scoundrel
Renlo Taksa: Mon Calamari Scoundrel. (Force sensitive)

I will leave the recruitment open until tomorrow evening - my time; so roughly 24 more hours.

How many players are you looking for?

I believe you have left Corven out of your list, your GMness. :-)

No problem. As I said, I found a concept I wanted to play more.

Finally got around to updating my background with a little more fluff. Tried not to name too many names in case there's conflict, but hopefully it paints more of a picture.

Here's a quick repost of Renlo's crunch, as I noticed when I was looking over it that I listed his Wisdom as "2" instead of "12".

Oriltoth here, Gungans suck for smart types, so Ithoran it is.

Yes, they do. Given that their stats are based off of the only Gungan in a movie (Jar Jar) they really didn't get the chance to be fleshed out.

I like the picture of the gungun in your profile?

Yeah, I don't have the time to commit to this after all. I'll remove my interest here so others can get in.

Will there be a determination made soon?

RECRUITMENT IS NOW CLOSED.

The tension mounts oh what a feeling!

Ok. I asked for 6, got 7 and so I will take all 7 submissions.
I think the group has a lot of potential. It will fit nicely into the story arcs I've planned.

(Please feel free to keep me honest.)

The team consists of:
Gotal; Umbaran Jedi
Donovaan Taar; Human Noble (Force sensitive)
Moroka Janis: Human Jedi Padawan (mechanic)
Jak Kato: Human Scoundrel
Corven Sworn: Human scoundrel
Renlo Taska: Mon Calamari Scoundrel
Oriltoth: Ithorian Noble

Please go to the Players thread and introduce yourselves to the group.

I will start the initial thread on Friday (as mentioned previously).
Three quick boundaries:
1. I would like you to commit to seeing this through for the first story arc. (depending on speed, posting, etc I anticipate it will take approximately 30 days.)
2. We will have a formal review at the end of the first arc to get a feel for how things are going and to see if you all want to continue.
3. I ask that you please post once a day (minimum).

I am excited to start and I hope you all enjoy the story we create.

I will make my profile by Friday then :)

Here he is!

Excellent. I need to find a Mon Cal looking head.

This might be tricky.

I am really looking forward to playing with you all.

You should perhaps come over to the Discussion thread.
