I've been playing D20 Modern for a couple of years - using the post apocalyptic rules Darwin's World.

Glad to see recruitment is still open.

I need to add three key bits to Alecks Var's Feats/Special Abilities.

1. Shadow Blending (50% miss in dim light vs. 20%)
2. Shadow Resistance (DR: cold 5, elecricity 5)
3. Disguise Self (Spell like ability) 1/day

and one skill modification
Stealth should be +5 vs. +3

I left these racial characteristics off my crunch.

Backstory:
Alecks is the oldest son of Barron Var of Klegs Fen. The fen is part of an upstart kingdom of Kayal on the Shadow Plane. Historically the region was ruled by the ancient shadow dragon Astigrylkraxyx. When the dragon was killed by adventurers from the prime material plane and ancestors of the current ruling family, the kingdom of Dewarn was founded. After nearly 100 years, Astigrylkraxyx's absence was noted by other powerful beings; demons and dragons among them. Dewarn is being hard pressed to survive.
Klegs Fen was sacked and both the Barron and Baroness were flayed and eaten in front of their subjects. During the sacking young Alecks was secreted away by his mentor, Jemma and her husband, Gareth. The three were hunted mercilessly and in an attempt to allude their hunters they traveled to Falcon's Hollow on the prime material plane. Jemma decided that the group must "go to the winds," with the promise that once the pursuers were dealt with they would be reunited. Alecks was hired on as a caravan guard leaving Falcon's hollow the next day. Jemma and Gareth bought three horses and rode hard toward the rising sun.
Alecks is both hiding from his pursuers and searching for something; a tool or artifact that will allow him to triumphantly free his homeland from its oppressors. His dreams are haunted by the screams of the dying and the sight of his mother being torn asunder, yet he also hears the voice of Jemma assuring him that he is the chosen one... the liberator.

Notes: Jemma is a priestess of Cayden Cailean. Her husband Gareth is a Ranger. Alecks is an adherent. As is typical for one of aristocratic upbringing, Alecks is educated and well spoken. He is used to a life of comfort and has a hard time letting the past go. It is entirely possible that some of his actions have led to the continued success of his pursuers.

Would you be willing to consider a Fetchling noble (son of a baron) who was shifted to the prime material plane when the house wizard had a serious miscue.

He is shell shocked, nearly broke and currently working as a caravan guard trying to get his bearings.

If you are willing I will take the first level as an aristocrat. As he learns more about his new life, he will move toward rogue at level 2 and beyond.

Born to a frontier "hunter" family, parents were killed by orcs. He was taken, sold into slavery, escaped to forest. He tends to get worked up during combat... and has trouble not killing with malice. He has to deal with some feelings of guilt once his vengeful mania passes.

Traits: Vengeful, Grim Optimism
Drawback: Mark of Slavery


I'm not sure why this didn't come up in my group during beta test, but there is a distinct lack of random lists concerning potions, scrolls, etc. Seems minor until such a time as you need a quick potion and have to try to figure out what is appropriate.

Another thing in the core book it states something about potions being essentially spells in a bottle. This is fine, except who would create a potion of mage hand or even web? Seems like a list would help.
