I know, but I value his input and would like to get something that fits well. The purpose of this exercise is to make something that will allow us to actually complete the module.
That said, I can’t really manage running the actions of four characters on my phone, which is where is end up doing most of my posting. Duettist also doesn’t grab me very much. I am, however, considering the other bard archetypes!
GM Mort
Technically the last time I ran Reign of Winter, it was done on 3 PCs, 2 NPCs and there wasn't really too much problem. I traditionally run 4 player games for faster gameplay and technically you also have 4 full powered characters, as well as your animal companions(which in some games aren't around as a force multiplier). Robert isn't using his animal companion, which I did tell him before and I am not running players animal companions for them, since I have enough things to do.
If you can't handle that many characters on phone (since your turns tend to have a lot of fiddly bits), then you can't handle. Since you admitted that phone on 4 is rough. (I don't want to talk about the 10 baykok problem I had the last time - I opted to PC it)
But again next opportunity to pick up NPCs after Longshadow may be quite a while away since no towns after that.
Grenwold Houtvester
I’m gonna pick up a cohort - it’s just a matter of flavor.
And yes, I’m aware of the fiddliness which I really really enjoy, but it does require a lot of attention to a) optimize and b) not cheat accidentally.

That's fine - Duettist was just a way to get a Bard with a familiar, and I re-jigged my build for the Skald (by dumping three feats into it) to get one, instead ;-)
I wouldn't say no to something with Inspire Courage (however we get it), since we will struggle a bit against stuff like dragons in the future, that have a lot of AC.
How about this?
If you took a Medium with the Storeyteller Archetype, we would get Inspire Courage, and if you channeled Hierophant(Cyricas), we would get to cherry-pick some spells off the Druid list...?
Ultimately, though, as Mort said, it is your choice :-)
GM Mort
That's the way it always should have been Nigel. Everyone should have the choice to play whatever they want.
I don't mind so much on friendly requests on broad categories like - we could use condition removal, we could use a face, we could use front line/ranged dps, but telling someone to play a fixed class and archetype is trampling on another player's freedoms which I will not have at my table.
GM Mort
Also - Nigel, even if you are comfortable in playing most classes under the sun, not everyone is that way. Like if you asked me to play any of the occult classes, other then kineticist, I have firstly, no interest, and secondly, no idea how to even get about it. So I would say, "HELL NO!" right on the onset.
GM Mort
I'm also going to spend my weekend busy nephew sitting and going out with my aunt for a nature ramble. I also need to clean my brothers fish tank filter so I'll be busy.
Grenwold Houtvester
Soft pass on Medium. Too fiddly!
Grenwold Houtvester
Thoughts on the fey trickster mesmerist? The stare things are very good debuffs and we'd get access to much of the druid list.
Grenwold Houtvester
Just checking in, not sure if there were any thoughts or other ideas. What’s the timeline for when we want to get going again?
GM Mort
I'm waiting for Robert to tie break on whether the party is going to chase the hobgoblins down or head straight to Longshadow. I've been waiting for almost a week and generally trying to be patient about it.
If people want to flesh out their cohorts before making that decision that is fine by me as well.
Grenwold Houtvester
Well, once we get confirmation that everyone's still around, I'm happy to amend my previous request and just head towards H/chase the hobgoblins. So long as we attempt to do so after preparing.
In addition, as many of us are melee characters, it'd be good not to entangle our approach, ;).
GM Mort
Make up your mind if going to H or chasing hobgoblins. Hobgoblins are slightly East of H, not quite the same place. Or at least order in which you are doing things.
GM Mort
Also I would like to see stuff in gameplay regarding party decisions on where to go. Its a tad odd to have a 180 degree change in decision with nothing reflected in gameplay.
Grenwold Houtvester
Nigel hasn’t posted in a while, I think we’re waiting for him so that we can prepare? Have you been in touch?
GM Mort
All right I'll go kick Nigel some. Though next time you're waiting for him you can send him an msg yourself as well. Don't have to wait for me.

Busy but productive day for me. I set a new personal record for myself, running 5 km in 28 min 55 secs. Then I went for food tasting at a restaurant for my wedding lunch with my family and my BFs family. So we were generally satisfied with the food except for a few things which the restaurant was happy to let us tweak. We also booked the date for our wedding lunch - 23rd November 2019, and paid the deposit.
Their VIP room is a bit small to squeeze in 5 tables so half of us will have to stand during the solemnization(which should take about 15 min). But we should manage.
Grenwold Houtvester
Cool beans, I hope everything works out.
GM Mort
Invis and fly over for scouting. That is all you're going to do, right? Also what height are you flying at?
Grenwold Houtvester
I believe so. Do we recognize anything visible as having a standard like Legion does?
GM Mort
The pre requisite for share spells is bonded mind and I think inquisitors can only change their most recent teamwork feat, right?
Grenwold Houtvester
I'd swap out Shake it Off for Improved Spell Sharing which does not have a prerequisite of bonded mind. Improved Share Spells is not a teamwork feat anyway.
GM Mort
Also forgot to mention during the scouting foray, 3 of the harpies were wearing studded leather armor, while the other two were in leather armor.
GM Mort
Meh I'm not really sure what the party wants to do since no one has put any input on any of the plans so I just went with the latest plan. Else it might be another week of waiting.
Grenwold Houtvester
Sorry, I don’t know. I’m trying to be protactive, I mentioned some different plans...I’ll get you a post tonight at the latest.
GM Mort
I don't mind giving you as much time as you want to discuss how you want to do things, but if people don't post, I just take it that they don't really have anything to discuss, so must as well get moving.
Grenwold Houtvester
Complicated turn, I charged the only one that seemed available. Let me know if I can't do all my buffs and drop the appropriate damage - I would do the divine favor just before the silence.
I'm putting a buffed statblock in my profile for reference!
Grenwold Houtvester
Also, someone please check my math for goodness' sake!
GM Mort
I'd post something right now, but I'm dead tired. I've been here for nearly 18 hours right now, and my thoughts seem fuzzy.
Next time ask for a time extension at the start of your shift before I move anything. I read the lack of posts as no interest in the subject so I just moved things along.
Grenwold Houtvester
Will do a post as soon as I figure it if I can turn around without landing. Flying is complicated!
It looks like I can either make it or barely not make it without doing a fly check. Up to you, Mort. My count may be off a bit - Fenton’s move speed is 50 while flying.
GM Mort
If its a corner case, just go ahead and say you made it since there's like 60 feet of height to slow arc around. Just don't try to make your full attacks without fly checks. Since harpies have sufficient fly skill, they auto pass and don't need to roll, which is why I didn't roll.
GM Mort
Going to the zoo tomorrow with my aunt so will afk.
Also I did something immensely stoopid, like doing mountain climbers barefoot on concrete so my toes are currently scrapped and raw.
My excuse? Puddles made it too slippery to grip with shoes. Toes have better grip.
So I suppose I won't be running or jumping anywhere anytime soon. Meh.
Grenwold Houtvester
Maybe get those weird toe shoes?
GM Mort
Might work. Or I don't go so fast on mountain climbers when the floor is wet. Because my SOP for slippery gym floors has always been to take off shoes, do it barefoot. (I have some calluses on my feet from running thought that was sufficient protection).Didn't realize that concrete floors were a whole different ball game.
Also gone to the zoo tomorrow.
Grenwold Houtvester
Have fun at the zoo!
Just a Mort
|
Hmm. Zoos are expensive places. I know why they are expensive, herbivores like elephants take a LOT to upkeep. But admission cost like 31.50 even with the 15% discount buying online, which is rather expensive >.< I mean if you went to butterfly park it’d be half the price. It gives you good incentive to explore the place in one shot, which, if by myself and had a day, I probably could do it. But since I was going with my aunt, so we only had half the zoo explored before we met up with my cousin and my niece and nephew(who also went to the zoo), to help look after the kids so they could buy lunch. The downside about that was that the only places to sit (for lunch) were infested with mosquitoes – I didn’t get bitten throughout the entire track through half the zoo, until we sat down there. I am a mosquito magnet. Then there was this part about us not having lunch yet, and I had a facial appointment at 3 pm, because next week I’m going to be part of the reception at my BF’s bro’s wedding lunch. So cutting the timing that close was making me twitchy.
If anyone is wondering why I am not doing anything, it’s because I’m waiting for Robert’s action. He has not posted his action yet. Again since it’s the weekend where they are, it’d be a low-blow if I called him out on it.
Grenwold Houtvester
Will do a post later, turns are getting complicated!
GM Mort
Have some sympathy for your GM who had to run 2 separate encounters concurrently thanks to how your group did things.
Grenwold Houtvester
Well, thankfully, I had dispatched much of the harpy troupe's HP by the time the others showed up.
GM Mort
I will be at my BF's brother's wedding this Saturday so expect no response from me till I get back at night.

I just weighed myself on my gym’s Inbody scanner today. I’m done for weight loss. I’m 50.8 kg (112 lbs) now.
Muscle Mass: 22.1 kg
Body Fat Mass: 9.8 kg (actually below recommended levels)
Percentage Body fat: 19.4%
I guess the key to the final bit of the puzzle was serious weight training(yup, not gym classes like body pump, though they definitely helped) and eating more proteins and more food in general. Yes, I walked into the free weights section of the gym, picked up a 40 lb barbell and started doing barbell squats and deadlifts with it. I have a thick skin and not very much sense of shame (enough to get me doing beat saber in the middle of a gawking shopping mall).
Also doing 90 knee pushups with elbows not flaring out was like WTF :P I need to progress to the regular guys push ups, I think I can do them now.
Took me about 5 months to get myself to a shape I’m satisfied with.
