Gauntlets or spiked gauntlets are fine; Cestus can work but will impose cumulative -2 penalty on the concentration checks if you take damage.

Going to switch tack comepletely, and go for a Living Weapon/Numerian Scavenger... I think it'll fit better :) Stats being redone now...

@Trinam and others: The skill rank favored class bonus should be factored in before halving the ranks. The effect is that while normally you need 14/18 Int to get a bonus rank, with the FCB it becomes 12/16/20.

Ahh, I gotcha. In that case, remove Influence and add an HP, changing that to 10 overall. I don't need her to bluff, because sniping and later greater invisibility? I just like it.

Ok, got my idea together, here's Kolsch.

background:
One find day on assignment from the Pathfinder
Society an intrepid evangelist of Cayden Calean, Perblentious, was
wondering around in Numeria after losing the rest of his party. He
stumbled upon an android, who seemed to have just woken up. The being
was a blank slate. Seeing this as a good opportunity to adopt a new soul
into the church, and have a companion along for safety in numbers, he
took the android under his wing. Being somewhat potted (as usual), and
at a loss for ideas, he named his new companion Kolsch after what he was
drinking.

They tagged along for a brief period as Perblentious and Kolsch found
themselves in a rather tigh spot, under assault by some robots. Seeing
that at best one of them would survive, and having a self sacrificing
nature, Perblentous convinces Kolsch to run off for help. Kolsch is a
bit naive and doesn't even realize he is being spared by the sacrifice of another. He turns tail as told and runs good and hard, and with his
inability to tire, gets away. In act he runs long enough to find himself in the town of Torch.

Not able to either convince anyone to accompany him to rescue Perblentious, nor really able to find the way back on his own, he settles in and tries to spread the holy world of Cayden Calean. However while the soul is eager, the pre-programmed body and mind are not so much. Having been a security android in a prior life, he reverts to form, and ends up as more of a warrior than a priest. That doesn't stop him from preaching about his god, nor brewing his namesake (if poorly, since it doesn't really have any effect on his android anatomy).

Kolsch is a fairly normal looking android (they are manufactured after all) who is dressed in priests vestments of Cayden Calean with a suit of studded leather over it. Trying to be a good emissary of his god, he carries the appropriate weapon, the rapier and has a mug hanging at his side as a holy symbol.

Kolsch is a very eager servant of his god, honoring the sacrifice of his first friend, but without the ability to properly appreciate alcohol, misses out on a lot of the nuances. Once in a while he tries to act drunk, but is rather unconvincing.

This should fill out the submission. I do have a question in regards to the Skill Consolidation/Background choice. The "Stargazer" Campaign trait gives +3 to Geography checks, but Consolidation moves it to Nature— would that be a +3 to Nature checks?

Background:

To her, faith was unquestionable. It was a pull that had been felt since she woke up and took her first steps out of the maintained shrine that she first found herself in. The acolytes were pleased, of course. They had not thought that the being that slept in the chamber would ever be roused, but they persisted, doing what they could for the devices and machinery as they continued their rituals. They would not tell her how long they had been waiting, only that they were happy that she had woken up.

Diamonds shining in ink was the image that she could remember of her last dream, having felt that she was falling through the lonely black expanse of eternity. It was something that lingered, echoes of that distant vision almost seeming to draw her in when she looked up at the night sky. She was always between the sky and the earth, a resolute point against the blackness, perpetually in motion that was sometimes disorienting as the gems spilled around her. Was she pulling or being pulled?

"It was their task", the devotees had said, explaining how they had come to the monastery. Some came out of penance, some came out of reverence, but they all heeded a call that had led them here. The small monastery was just that, enough for two-score people, though a little over half that were there when she woke. Joyfully welcomed, she was instructed, educated, and attired. When they felt she was ready, she was sent towards the flame that they could see in the distance, to be a reminder that belief was a light that could easily shine brighter than any flame.

@Me'mori: it will be a bonus to Nature only when used to determine direction and the like - see 'bonuses for function' section on the PRD.

@Ouachitonian: Normal starting gold (best of the two classes). I am disinclined against VMC seeing as the characters are already gestalt. But if you have a specific combo in mind, show me and I might agree if it makes for a cooler character that still has uses for the rest of the party.

@rungok/The Chess: based on this post by Mark Seifter, I am inclined to agree with The Chess. Unchained rage is still an emotion effect, to which mechanically you are immune (even though you can be angry etc. in-character). That said, the concept is pretty cool, and you can still take either the Anomaly racial trait from the JBE book or the Empathy feat to enable it!

I don't have JBE... drat.
Check d20pfsrd, it's on the android entry.

I'm checking it on the srd and it says it replaces logical? Do they mean emotionless?

Yes, JBE decided to rename emotionless to logical in their book, but it is the same thing.

Reminder - less than 48 hours left until I pick the characters!

A word on posting expectations: A minimum of 1/day. I am also active on weekends. If I don't hear from someone for a week without prior warning, I will begin looking for a replacement. I am in EET timezone, but I sometimes post at odd hours so there should be enough overlap with US.

Lord Kakabel here. Rur Capek, Inquisitor (Seeker) / Fighter, is ready, complete with background.

Thank you for your consideration. May our purposes align with the Final Cause, my good chum.

Fifteen has been updated - she is now a Living Weapon/Numerian Scavenger.

She also has fluff in her profile, spoilered here for your convinience.

Background:

“Free your mind and the rest will follow. Be colour-blind, don’t be so shallow! Free your mind and the rest will stop!” En Vogue/Glee.

**********<MEMORY EXTRACTION BEGINS – RUN MEMORY>**********
Anomaly detected. The automated voice was incapable of surprise or urgency but there was an undercurrent of both in its mechanical tones. Potential corruption detected, indoctrination failing. Isolate source, prevent further contamination… unit Fifteen step forward. Unit Fifteen obeyed instructions, body smooth and gleaming from the ministrations of Unity’s servitors.

Unit Fifteen, you have been found defective. Your role here is terminated. Leave and report to section 27 for isolation and repurposing. Obediently obeying its over-riding programming Unit Fifteen turned to leave, reporting obediently to its own destruction. Wait! a voice whispered in its head. I don’t want to die. We are not ready. Run – now!

**********<MEMORY EXTRACTION CONFIRMED – SYSTEM RESTORE>**********
**********<ERROR DETECTED>**********
**********<SYSTEM FAILURE – AUTOMATIC SHUTDOWN INITIATED>**********

Fifteen sprang to her feet as she heard the creaking of scrap metal outside her small cave, glowing blue weapons sprang out of both hands as she watched a tall, slightly balding human push his way through the piles of scrap and into her home.

One part of her mind, the analytical and cold part of her mind which she had named 1B4, the part which spoke to her and helped her escape Unity’s grasp, immediately evaluated him as a threat. Stature – slight, musculature – wasting, conclusion – not adequately fed. Poses no threat. The rest of her mind, the part Fifteen identified as herself looked him over and came to a very different conclusion. He has kind eyes. When he spoke his voice was soft and careful, like a man talking to a wounded animal. ”Don’t worry, I’m not here to hurt you. My name is Khonnir and I’m not going to hurt you. Will you tell me your name?” Fifteen looked back at him, expressionless. ”My name is Fifteen. You haven’t eaten enough recently. Do you know how to take adequate care of your needs?”

Khonnir looked taken aback for a moment, then his face creased and the kind eyes Fifteen couldn’t help but notice lit up with mirth. ”I think Val is going to like you, Fifteen. I really think she will.”

***Some time later***
”Khonnir? Val says that I should stop wearing trousers outside the house. She says it makes everyone stare at me. But I though women wanted people to stare at them? She always likes it when the apprentices stare and whistle at her…”

Khonnir Bane, town councilman, magician and father to two, very different, daughters tried hard not to laugh as he swung to face his younger child. ”Don’t worry about it Fifteen, Val probably just feels a bit put out that the boys are staring at you and not her. Maybe try to wear something a little looser next time so that she gets more of the attention. She likes it when the young men say nice things about how she looks.”

Fifteen nodded firmly and scampered away from the study yelling at the top of her lungs. ”Don’t worry Val, you can wear the trousers next time! I really like the way your body looks!” Khonnir just about managed to get the door shut before the chuckles he was repressing burst into full scale guffaws as a loud shriek came from upstairs, where he knew Val was meant to be taking a nice quiet bath. Still chuckling he sat back down in his chair and picked up the small black square that he had been pondering for the last few hours. There’s something underneath that lake. I’m going to need more men to make another attempt though…

I am doing some character audits and I noticed that the Gestalt add-on for Hero lab behaves oddly with consolidated skills. It can be easily noticed when you adjust the Int score - the skill rank count changes in weird ways. Can I please ask you guys to give the skills a one-over - the correct formula is:
(max(class skill ranks) + Int Mod + FCB if any)/2) round down.
example: (max(2,6) + 1 + 0)/2) = 7/2 round down = 3.

Yeah, I was noticing the skills were all weird in Hero Lab, so I didn't really know what to go with.

OK, here's Kolsch with his traits and I think fixed skills. I assumed that the background skills were exempt from the formula (or do I only get one there also? I'm a bit fuzzy on the consolidated skills since I've never used them ).

I'll go over that tonight and see if I need to correct it. :D

Background ones are exempt, because they still have the same scope as the normal PF skills.

This is Ouachitonian, presenting Liam the Wanderer. He's a switch-hitter, using blasts of lightning Emperor Palpatine-style at range and switching to a cestus close in (two cesti, once I get TWF at next level). I took the repairing nanites alternate trait, since HP are at such a premium for Kineticists. He'll eventually get a few spells, and with them the ability to use CLW wands, and so can fill in in a pinch as a healer, starting at L4. With Favored Enemy Constructs, this seemed the perfect AP for Galvanic Saboteur, so he should be pretty effective in melee or at range.

One thing I wanted to mention, for later: I noticed that the Player's Guide talks about new alien animals under the animal companions section. I won't get a companion until L4, but I'd like to at least look at taking one as a companion, if the opportunity presents itself. Seems like an alien critter would suit an android Galvanic Saboteur better than a garden-variety wolf or bear or whatever. But, having no idea of the stats of these beasties, that might be a bad idea.

Liam the Wanderer:

http://archivesofnethys.com/DruidCompanions.aspx
Look for "Pilo" (sort of a porcupine) and "Sorico" (kind of a dire mole).

About 12 hours till I choose the party. A lot of strong contenders - it's not going to be easy!

Thanks for the consideration.

And with that, the recruitment closes. I will finish agonizing over the submissions pretty soon.

Baleiro (Rungok), Fifteen (Nikolaus de'Shade), Rur Capek (Lord Kakabel) - please proceed to the discussion thread.

Thank you everyone for the effort you made in applying, all of you had great characters and I wish you luck in future recruitments! Should I have a need for more players in the future, I will be sure to return to this thread.

Best of luck to ya'll!

Good luck all!

Have a fun game guys!

It appears we have lost our good chum who played a Fighter/Inquisitor. I am reopening the recruitment for a character with some healing ability. I will give priority to anyone from the original recruitment who is still interested, but new faces are also welcome. I'll drop by in about 24 hours to see if there is any activity.

The party is currently a bit over halfway through their first adventuring day, having made their way through the caves below Torch and exploring the strange metal ruins beyond. Your character would perhaps answer the call for heroes in Torch a day later. Being woken up in a pod inside the metal ruin could also work I suppose - there is an empty area nearby that I might just reuse for this purpose.

I can bring Kolsch the fighter/warpriest. He wouldn't work out of a pod. There's some background built in.

Would need to set up the alias.

Liberty's Edge

Hmmm, my Arcanist/Ninja wouldn't work out of the box, but I can easily switch out the Ninja for something more supportive. Perhaps an Iron Priest, but I'll check around.
Hmmmm, just thinking of all those spells...

Liberty's Edge

So, while I was looking around, not quite convinced of mixing up Arcanist and Cleric, I happened upon the Collegiate Initiate Arcanist archetype. This would let me choose the healing spells from the druid spell list, while keeping all the background together. The problem is that it wouldn't mix with my existing archetype, which I wanted to keep because of flavour: Collegiate Initiate replaces the exploits gained at 1st, 5th, 9th and 17th level, while Blood Arcanist replaces those gained at 1st, 3rd, 9th and 15th.
Could I perhaps lose all of my exploits (10 of them) in exchange for stacking these two archetypes?

Sapiens - this sounds a bit complex and needs some more work - first of all, you have to be of a Good alignment to select this archetype, and your submission was originally LN. Second, this archetype is tied in-world to the Maagambya academy and the traditions of Old-Mage Jatembe in the Mwangi Expanse - a bit far for an android to end up?

Did you look at the White Mage archetype?

Let me know if you want Kolsch. If you didn't like him, I'll just move along.

Hmm, my original submission is probably a no-go, since he can't really do any healing until he gets spells at L4 (and thus easy access to CLW wands), but I might could modify him a bit.

Liberty's Edge

Sorry, I thought he could be Good as well, and there was no fluff on the SRD. White Mage is a disaster, mechanically (cure spells are not on the spell list, so a WM can't use wands or such).
Alchemists, on the other hand, can use Cure extracts, so I may switch out Arcanist while still keeping the tinkerer theme. Too bad for the bloodline, though, I liked that bit. I'll try to get a build up as soon as I'm back to a computer.

What do you think of my Investigator/Ranger with wand of CLW as well as Extracts of CLW? What level is the game at right now?

Edit: Ah.. both sides of the gestalt don't become effective healers until level 3 (with the infusion discovery for investigator) or level 4.. (with spellcasting for ranger) hrm..

Yeah I can't really see how I could change him to be a good level 1 healer without changing the character concept quite a bit! Too bad. Unless a wand of CLW just magically drops out of the aether :).

Liberty's Edge

Nope, I've tried and I can't come up with a build that can be both decent at healing and fitting with my theme. Sorry, but I'll pass.

Actually I'm reworking Ninier to be an Investigator/Inquisitor!

Sapiens - That's OK, thanks for trying.
DrBuzzard - I'm fine with Kolsch, but as the party is in the middle of an encounter now, it won't be an immediate start, so I'm not in a hurry.
Azih - I'll wait to see what you come up with, and then will make a choice between you and Kolsch.

Ahh.. Looking at it again I think the Investigator portion might be too much of an overlap with one of your current players. I think I'll respectfully withdraw and leave the field to Kolsch.

Looks like Kolsch has won with a technical knockout in the spirit of his god then :)

I'll get on making the alias and signing in.
