Totally forgot about Well Versed. Thank you, GM!
Finding his wits are still about him after all, Quinn draws his scimitar while swirling arcane patterns with his other hand. Ghostbane Dirge on northern allip. DC 19 will save to negate. 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11 if it has SR. I really hope it doesn't have SR...

The square incorporeal creature attempts to retain its incorporeal state for the time being.
Will save: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (2) + 12 = 14
Will save: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 25
The ghostbane dirge seems to work, getting the creature about halfway corporeal before he locks eyes with Quinn, smiles, and beomes incorporeal again.
Then, that creature speaks its technobabble louder and louder until the words start to form in midair. The words whirl around him until they come flying at your heads, trying to push their way in through your ears. I need a will save from everyone. If you haven't made a will save versus this guy's babbling yet, you don't need to anymore - he attacked, so he broke your fascinate if you were fascinated before. You might still be fascinated by the southern one though... Still need saves versus both. See later post for explanation.
Fail and you're confused as per the spell confusion, except if you get the babble incoherently result, your babbling is technobabble. (No mechanical difference)

I may be wrong but I thought any attack on a creature broke all fascinated conditions on that creature. Regardless of source. Or is it that it continues to talk so we must save again?

Sorry, you're right. It breaks the effect, but you need to save again since your not immune. So yeah, still need saves from people who haven't passed it yet.

Okay, I've not been 100% clear as to what saves everyone needs to make, so let me list them out here so that everyone's clear as to what's been going on. (This is mostly my fault as when I reevaluated what's been going on in this encounter, I realized that I've been running allips wrong forever, so I'm going to make sure that this gets done right.)
Everyone needs to make 2 saves versus each allip's babbling. You got affected by the babbling when the door opened, then you got attacked by the square allip which broke the fascination, but if you didn't make your save the first time then you aren't immune to the ability and you need to make a second save versus the babbling. Make either of those 2 saves and you're not fascinated by that allip.
Also, everyone needs a will save versus the allip's confusion.
This is what I have so far:
Algar
12 vs. square allip fascinate, need 2nd save
13 vs. circle allip fascinate, need 2nd save
16 vs. confusion, failed, hits himself on his turn
Grimnir
17 vs. square allip fascinate, 24 vs. square allip fascinate, ok
17 rerolled to 27 vs. circle allip fascinate, ok
38 vs. confusion, ok
Hedra
19 vs. square allip fascinate, ok
25 vs. circle allip fascinate, ok
24 vs. confusion, ok
Kargoth
5 vs. square allip fascinate, need 2nd save
8 vs. circle allip fascinate, need 2nd save
11 vs. confusion, failed, hits himself on his turn
Mr. Madison
23 vs. square allip fascinate, ok
9 vs. circle allip fascinate, 13 vs. circle allip fascinate, fascinated
18 vs. confusion, failed
Quinn
21 vs. square allip fascinate, ok
22 vs. circle allip fascinate, ok
15 vs. confusion, failed
Hopefully this makes things clear as to what's going on. Sorry about the confusion, but this was something that I wasn't going to try to sort out on my phone. I'll have the circle allip's turn up momentarily.
EDIT: And by sorry about the confusion, I mean sorry about the confusion about the # of the saves, not the confusion. I have no regrets about confusing you all! *evil laugh*

Between the verbal and the physical technobabble, Algar and Kargoth seem completely ineffective.
Grimnir moves up to the first allip and smacks it with his greatsword, going straight through it. The allip laughs as the sword seems to go right through it, but Grimnir can see the allip is a little more transparent than normal where the sword went. So, you were only 5 ft. away from him, so you could full attack if you wanted to. Also you guys know there's a grid on the map if you want to say where you're going, right? Just checking. I think everyone should be able to see the map.
Seeing that Grimnir appears to be free of the compulsions placed upon him, the allip to the south flies up to him and tries to reach his hand into Grimnir's brain.
Allip touch vs. Grimnir: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26
Grimnir needs to make a DC 19 will save or take Wisdom damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1. This is not a spell or SLA.

as a quick aside, here are the rules for the fascinated condition:
Fascinated: A fascinated creature is entranced by a supernatural or spell effect. The creature stands or sits quietly, taking no actions other than to pay attention to the fascinating effect, for as long as the effect lasts. It takes a –4 penalty on skill checks made as reactions, such as Perception checks. Any potential threat, such as a hostile creature approaching, allows the fascinated creature a new saving throw against the fascinating effect. Any obvious threat, such as someone drawing a weapon, casting a spell, or aiming a ranged weapon at the fascinated creature, automatically breaks the effect. A fascinated creature's ally may shake it free of the spell as a standard action.
lessee here, my next action will be:
Wheel of Morality, turn turn turn. Tell us the lesson that we should learn.: 1d100 ⇒ 19 yay, act normally. I'll take a 5' step directly south, rage, power attack, and beat the hell outta that one.
Full Attack: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (14) + 17 = 311d20 + 17 ⇒ (11) + 17 = 281d20 + 12 ⇒ (11) + 12 = 23
Damage Rolls: 1d8 + 15 ⇒ (6) + 15 = 211d8 + 15 ⇒ (5) + 15 = 201d8 + 15 ⇒ (4) + 15 = 19
results: all attacks currently with a weapon that bypasses cold iron, magic, good, silver, and piercing DR (not that I expect them to have DR, but still): first attack damage: 10; second attack damage: 10; third attack: 9 damage

AoO on Eye: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (2) + 13 = 15
Will save DC 18 or Wis damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1
Unfortunately, the eye misses on the touch.
Mr. Madison looks on in awe at the two allips as Quinn joins in the droning.
Fascinate beats confusion, as confusion tries to make you take actions you can't take because you're fascinated. So there's at least one bit of help there...
The square allips looks at Grimnir and points with one semi-transparent finger, mouth still going on about some faith core. All of the sudden, Grimnir becomes wreathed in flames that seem to have an abyssal taint to them.
Fire damage: 10d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 1, 1, 1, 3, 1, 5, 5, 4) = 29, Reflex 21 for half. If you fail you are also staggered for a round. This is not a spell or SLA.
Then, with unearthly grace, he moves away as he deftly avoids Grminir's swinging axe.

The way I read fascinate, you can't be fascinated if someone does an threatening action near you, so unless they fascinated, did confusion, and fascinated again, we should be fine in that regard, as the way that I read the situation was that they fascinated and then produced confusion. I could certainly be wrong (in which case see my will saves below).
Will Save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Will Save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

Kargoth, the fascination broke from the confusion. However the cause for fascination is still going (their babbling). You are not immune to a creature's fascination if it's broken, only if you save against it. So Once it's broken, you have to save again.

![]() |

but the effect has a duration, so to me it means that it's not an aura or constant effect. If it is, that means that we're gonna be making a ton of will saves, cause the effect would end when either of them took an offensive action then we would be effected by the fascinate again, prompting another save.
not trying to be a jerk or what have you, I've just never seen fascinate run that way.
EDIT: reread what team GM posted above. I definitely get it, it just seems weird to me that it would have a duration. I do, however, stand by my assertion that we will be making a lot of will saves in this fight. Also, I saved vs. square.

Remember Grimnir, the inferno staggered you since you failed the save, so only one attack.
Grimnir swings his sword through the flame, barely managing to get one attack off. His sword sliced through, but the allip seemed less hurt than a normal human by that hit.
Yeah, there's no DR, just the fact that he's incorporeal.
Algar and Kargoth continue to stand still, listening to the wonderful words the allips are saying.
The circle allip takes a look around, sees that he's flanked, and steps to the side, taking a moment to swip at Grimnir as he does so.
Incoporeal Touch: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16 ... and misses.

I think I am past the fascinate and on to the confusion. I was just attacked so I should attack that one back. But in order to do this I need to know what your definition of attack is. Should I jump up and try to swing with my fists (I carry no weapons) or should I cast my most offensive spell at him (in this case command undead, understanding that it will be broken as soon as someone swings). Either way I will be fairly combat ineffective.

![]() |

I believe "eye" is an Arbiter Inevitable and therefor has the constructed trait. The constructed trait grants immunity to among other things necromancy effects. Inflict spells are necromancy school and therefor have no effect on inevitables. The constructed trait gives an inevitable most of the immunities of constructs. It does not however have any prohibition on receiving the benefits of cure spells which are conjuration(healing). Not that it will need the cure spells with its regeneration (yes regeneration, not fast healing). Of course all of this is predicated on the fact that "eye" is in fact an arbiter. On a side note I think you are doing a good job as a GM. Some of these rules are terribly obscure and in this case require looking at the stats for the subtype of the creature as constructed, while mentioned in the stat block, is not defined therein.
