Quinn - I mean the north of the room - he sees no reason to fly above you yet...
And yes, confused people attack the square allip if possible this round.
Re the arbiter: It costs me nothing to target the arbiter anyway - I had 10 targets total and I was only using 8, so oh well. Stupid constructed outsiders *grumble grumble*
Mr. Madison: My definition of attack is whatever your character considers an "attack." So for you, that would be casting some sort of offensive spell at the creature (unless he has some better way of attacking incorporeals).
Will save vs. Aroden's mischance: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
And Grimnir gets three hits - I'll narrate it once I have the other turns for this round since Grimnir goes last.

![]() |

At the sudden pain, Quinn jumps with a yip and shouts the spell that had been trying to form on his tongue for an eternity, pointing at whatever foe had pained him so!
Ghostbane Dirge, I guess. DC 19 Will save. No more rerolls! =P

![]() |

Mr. Madison will cast command undead DC 23.
If it takes effect I will try to convince him to do something he probably would not normally do.
Surrender to us now and do not hurt my friends.
Opposed charisma check: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (10) + 14 = 24
I know full well that that spell will not make it through a round but it is the most offensive spell he has in this situation.

![]() |

Will Save vs. Command Undead: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27
Mr. Madison attempts to command the allip, only to find himself getting sudden visions of the mind of the creature. Inside words are solid objects, dancing around gears, machine parts and holy prisms being filled up by hundreds of holy crusaders casting holy smite which can have it radius increased and power increased to kill many common demons like babaus which he destroyed during a particularly successful test during the First Crusade but the interlocution multiplier fried again because those things are always so tempermental and if Almant made them correctly he wouldn't have to worry but Almant never made things correctly because craftsmanship is important because the nanofaithtubes won't work if they're even 1/10th of an inch off...
Mr. Madison takes Wisdom Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2.

![]() |

Hedra caused the circle allip to fall under a curse of Aroden.
Mr. Madison delved into the mind of the square allip and paid the price.
Quinn failed to bring the square allip into the realm of the living.
The square allip turns to Quinn, and directs a beam of words directly into Quinn's brain, fogging it up. Quinn owes me a DC 17 Will save
Then the allip fades into the wall behind it.
Order
Hedra - 9 damage
Mr. Madison - 9 damage
Quinn - 17 damage
Square Allip - 22 damage
Algar - 9 damage
Kargoth - ?
Grimnir - 1 Wis damage plus 18 damage
Circle Allip - 51 damage, misfortuned and looking bad.
Current Effects
Aid on the party - 58 rounds remaining
Divine Favor on Algar - 6 rounds remaining
Haste on the party - 4 rounds remaining
Babbling - Algar vs. both, Kargoth vs. circle,
Confusion - Algar, Kargoth, Mr. Madison, Quinn - in 4th round

![]() |

Will save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
....of course....
Praying for a higher roll for Confusion
1d100 ⇒ 33
So am I babbling violently at my nearest ally or does the new spell overwrite the confusion. Spell-stacking is NOT fun, I don't care what they say =P

![]() |

Normally if two compulsions are mutually exclusive opposed charisma checks are required to determine which compulsion over rides which. If they are from the same source though I don't know how that works. Perhaps the source of the compulsion can just choose which compulsion over rides which.

![]() |

Im confused.. Ive attack the circel Allip with 3 straight full attacks dealing 286 damage.. Divided by 2 thats 143 damage.. They only healed for 17.. How has it only taken 51 damage?

![]() |

I'm actually unhurt right now, other than the damage I did to myself.
As for my turn, I get the following:
Confusion: 1d100 ⇒ 54
"Get.Out.Of.My.Head!" screams Kargoth and then hits himself in the face with the butt of his spear.
damage roll: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12

![]() |

@Kargoth: While confused you keep on attacking anything that attacks you. There is no need to roll a d100, you automatically attack the thing that last attacked you. In this case the allip that cast mass inflict light wounds. "Any confused creature who is attacked automatically attacks its attackers on its next turn, as long as it is still confused when its turn comes."
Normal rules for contradictory mind control effect:
"Multiple Mental Control Effects: Sometimes magical effects that establish mental control render each other irrelevant, such as spells that remove the subject's ability to act. Mental controls that don't remove the recipient's ability to act usually do not interfere with each other. If a creature is under the mental control of two or more creatures, it tends to obey each to the best of its ability, and to the extent of the control each effect allows. If the controlled creature receives conflicting orders simultaneously, the competing controllers must make opposed Charisma checks to determine which one the creature obeys."
The above rule applies when it is more then one creature trying to control a mind. If it is the same creature doing the controlling what happens? I assume the controlling creature decides? That's how I run it anyways. It may be helpful if we get a hierarchy of effects going on right now or if you make the saves for us in your post and tell us specifically what we are being compelled to do.

![]() |

fair enough. I missed the mass inflict. Changing gears then...
Will save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9 failed the will save vs. the mass inflict
Will save vs. fascinate: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Confusion will drive me to take a 5' step towards square and brutally murder him.
Attack rolls w/Power Attack and Rage: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (1) + 15 = 161d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
man, I'm ridiculously full of fail for this combat.

My character can't do much against incorporeal, my next move will be to find a trick against those creature, like a rod of ectoplasmic spell...
Hedra was hepless against the creatures and her spell were not the best agaisnt those creatures.
She waited until she can do something useful.
Delay

![]() |

Im waiting for a response before to post this rounds actions..

![]() |

Ghostbane Dirge was a spell I picked up shortly after this character's first encounter with incorporeal. Need to get the save DC up though, but am unsure as to how other than raising Charisma.

![]() |

Taking Spell Focus (transmutation) ? not the better choice for a bard but the only one to push up the DC. You can also buy a rod of Persistant spell it's equivalent to add +2 to the DC

![]() |

Well that would make sense.. The way it was worded I thought it just didn't take much damage..
Grimnir will attack the Circle again..
1d20 + 26 ⇒ (12) + 26 = 38
1d20 + 26 ⇒ (6) + 26 = 32
1d20 + 21 ⇒ (10) + 21 = 31
Damage: 4d6 + 20 ⇒ (2, 5, 6, 3) + 20 = 36
Damage: 4d6 + 20 ⇒ (5, 5, 2, 6) + 20 = 38
Damage: 4d6 + 20 ⇒ (2, 4, 4, 3) + 20 = 33
Yea i think Ghost Touch will be my next purchase..

![]() |

M.Missile may be a good option. Two skill points away from an auto-success for UMD. Refresh my memory, can you buy a wand with a higher CL that's NOT on a chronicle sheet, or am I stuck with the low-end?

![]() |

Sorry, I forgot to advance the initiative to show where we were actually at in the last post. I was waiting on Kargoth to post the update.
Kargoth takes a swing at the allip as it flies into the wall, but misses by a mile.
Algar still is listening to the babble.
Grimnir swings his greatsword three times and lays waste into the circle allip, causing it to disappear into thin air, its babbling turning into a high shriek before disappearing completely. Yeah, you killed it, but I didn't want to reveal that until your turn in case that changed what people did.
Quinn, I realized that I screwed up with murderous command. Unless you roll act normally on the confusion, you don't know who your allies are so you can't attack them, so since you didn't roll act normally, you can't attack an ally so the murderous command does nothing. I'm not going to go back since this combat's been all hella messed up anyway.
Order
Hedra - 9 damage
Mr. Madison - 9 damage
Quinn - 17 damage
Square Allip - 22 damage and in the wall.
Algar - 9 damage
Kargoth - 17 damage
Grimnir - 1 Wis damage plus 18 damage

Aid on the party - 57 rounds remaining
Divine Favor on Algar - 6 rounds remaining
Haste on the party - 4 rounds remaining
Babbling - Algar vs. square

Hedra has resist 5 negative energy, so she took only 4 damages from the spell
Hedra saw with relief one of the creature disapeared in the mist of her second death. She make a short prayer to Aroden in hope the man who was this creature finally find peace.
Well done Grimnir ! You can do it with the other !
Quick question GM, if I want to dispel the confusion on all my friend can I do it with a targeting dispel magic or do I need a dispel magic, greater ?

![]() |

After destroying the creature Grimnir will end his rage as a free action..

![]() |

Breathing hard Grimnir pulls out his wand o heals and taps himself once with it..
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
"Shall we continue or do yall need some more babbling time?"

![]() |

I suppose we have to roll for confusion again...
Confusion: 1d100 ⇒ 50
The paranormal parabolic dictates that, in accordance with the resonant frequency I should merely think it be so to be interjected.

![]() |

Interesting question Kargoth. I'd tell you except for the fact that we're not out of initiative yet. He went into the wall - he didn't run away.
I'm giving Algar a little more time before I roll for him to move along. (And of course, the round I wait to see if you kill each other, you all act normally.)

![]() |

After healing himself Grimnir will move over to the door and take a listen..
Perc: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (13) + 22 = 35

![]() |

When next round comes.
Confusion: 1d100 ⇒ 12
Finally coming to his senses Mr. Madison decides to counter compulse himself. He casts suggestion on himself.
Aid these people, pointing at his allies, they are your allies. Hinder those who seek to harm them.
Will vs suggestion: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16 including wisdom damage.
opposed charisma check: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (16) + 14 = 30 to override other commpulsions.

Round 5

Confusion: 1d100 ⇒ 561d8 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 =>Huts himself
Technobabble Must purge processor Error Code B102. Complete Sub routine trough tough process C52, Reroute Neural Pathways to Pattern K1, Reboot as he clonk himself on the head with his weapon

The allip pops out of the fllor next to Hedra, and defensively casts a spell, sending words flying at Hedra.
(I'm still listing the order for the purpose of marking damage. There's only one enemy, so it's Allip, then you all, then allip, et cetera.)
Hedra - 4 damage
Mr. Madison - 2 Wis damage and 9 damage
Quinn - 17 damage
Square Allip - 22 damage and in the wall.
Algar - 9 damage
Kargoth - 17 damage
Grimnir - 1 Wis damage plus 18 damage

If not here is my roll.
confusion: 1d100 ⇒ 82
I can't see the map but.
I would cast charm person on the closest creature unless it is the Allip in which case it would be command undead.

![]() |

Confusion: 1d100 ⇒ 22
With the beast now in the same room, Quinn pops out of his hiding space (or five-foots south one square since he apparently never moved. *shrug*) before ghostbane dirging the spirit again.
Same old song and dance, DC 19 Will save. Please fail! Though still have 3 left. =P

![]() |

Since the door is log jammed up with babbling people Grimnir targets the Allip with Ear Piercing Scream..
4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 1, 5) = 10 DC 15 for 1/2 and negate the Daze
"Hey Angel dogs! There's your enemy! Kill it!"

![]() |

@Grimnir : EPS Doesn't work on undead, as it need a Fort. Save
Will DC17 (+Gamin Guidance): 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 8 + 1 = 13
Is the creature Chaotic ? Because if it was, Eye will have casted protection from chaos on Hedra
If not chaotic, and if a read the spell well, Hedra will try to attack is nearest ally with a weapon right ?
I will kill you Quinn ! said Hedra when the creture command her to kill her nearest ally.
Attack (longsword): 1d20 - 3 + 1 ⇒ (16) - 3 + 1 = 141d8 - 1 ⇒ (8) - 1 = 7
Hedra ! What did you do ! Are you crazy ?! asked Gamin who doesn't understand why her friend and master tried to kill an ally, with martial skill she don't have
Eye responded to Gamin No. She.S. Under. A. Spell.

![]() |

Kargoth punches himself in the face.
Grimnir casts ear-piercing scream. Unfortunately, it seems to have no effect on the allip. (Yup, no fortitude saves on undead creatures unless they are harmless or also work on objects.)
Hedra attacks Quinn and misses.
Mr. Madison - yeah, that makes sense. I'll let that suggestion work.
Mr. Madison tries to charm Quinn.
Quinn, since Hedra and Mr. Madison technically go before you, either your confusion is going to trigger to attack them unless you fail your Will save versus the charm person and you lose the Charisma check to Mr. Madison. If you pass either of those two things, you need to attack Mr. Madison instead. Fortunately, I know we'll both be on at the same time tomorrow morning, so I'll wait for your save before I go make a save versus the ghostbane dirge.
Hedra - 4 damage
Mr. Madison - 2 Wis damage and 9 damage
Quinn - 17 damage
Square Allip - 22 damage and in the wall.
Algar - 9 damage
Kargoth - 25 damage
Grimnir - 1 Wis damage plus 18 damage
