1 person marked this as a favorite.

For a party which has lost nobody, and barely taken any damage, that's a pretty odd level of offense to have taken. I have landed almost zero spells and done barely any damage. If you waned a walk through, try a game of Candyland perhaps.

1. I don't consider saying that critters are limited to the Bestiaries (4 books full of stuff) much of a house rule. I'd consider that simply rational. I'll be more careful in the future about announcing that up front.
2. Because I would not have been able to touch the character at all. Period. The character would have been invulnerable. Do you think that is reasonable? This is a well lit demiplane. As it is with a minor change, I can barely affect them due to sniping.
3. The tentacle woman know you were coming (rogue warned her), and purposefully didn't make noise. Perception is not X-Ray vision. You folks never did bother to ask the rogue where squid lady was.
4. This is probably fair enough, though the flying clawed octopus with horns just doesn't do it for me. Honestly the threats you have faced so far have been comparably laughable. They are not actually set to be all that hard since all I have done is apply simple mythic templates. Evidently that is insufficient to actually do anything against optimized gestalt.
5. I shudder at the though of what you would say if a character had actually died or something. I have been pretty meticulous about the rules and making sure they work in your favor.

Here's a piece of advice in return- over the top outrage might be in place if a TPK happened or your character was actually screwed over. As of now in the game, you are running the way you were before the combat started. The monsters are the same. Nothing has actually changed. I will merely be adapting in the future so things are not a complete walkthrough. I guess you just wanted a walk through. I don't provide those.

1) As I said I do not object to the houserule, I was annoyed about the wasted time.
2) Really with the near unlimited power of GM you could not do that?
3) Sound is just one aspect of the perception skill. For example blidsight would have worked perfectly in the situation. Hell gale would have smelled the woman or heard her damn heartbeat with that check.
4) You assume my objection is the challenge level? Hell no I like hard games. And maybe if you wanted certain astethic you should mention that at the start.
5) No I am not talking about hostility towards characters I am talking about players. Treating people with respect and manners. Not assuming every single comment as a personal challenge.

And over the top outrage? Could you be more melodramatic? My annoyance is due to you and myself wasting my time with this game. There are certain reasonable expectations when one sits down at a table be it in this case a virtual one. Perhaps I could have been less blunt in my message but to be honest forest answers as called. And again I like hard games, what I do not like is dropped in houserules, ignoring rules and most of all GMs magical teaparty story time, because that is what it comes down to when you can't perceive how the world works because no rule is nailed down and is subject to change at a whim. If I actually was interested in a walkthrough I would have actually used some of the abusive stuff that in available in the system.

So far, I'm only mildly annoyed, and far from complete outrage. :)

Oh, I now need cover, which limits visibility and makes me vulnerable to areas and other non-directly targeted attacks. I won't use it all the time. I also reduced some of the other adds I had to my stealth score.

So they had a telepathic bond?

This one was on our group. Our questions were cut off.

OK, I'm not going to keep arguing. If you want to go, just go and don't bother with the recriminations. I shouldn't have responded in the first place. If you folks don't like the game, I can simply end it.

I am trying to find a way to balance gestalt characters against mere simple mythic templates. Obviously it hasn't been much of a threat. This isn't an easy thing to do, and I have wasted appreciably more time on this game than any of you. If my efforts are not satisfactory, as I said, we can just end it and I can save time and grief.

I came into this game with a base assumption that everyone would make a legal character, and I only take a close look when something goes over the top. Apparently I should have just assumed over the top as I did say mythic threats would be present. My bad there.

We can decide now if you want to continue. The other table has not given me anywhere near as much grief and I will continue with them either way.

(and yes, the squid lady and rogue had a telepathic bond, without that much of an edge you would have pasted squid lady in about 1 round, as it was it took 2 or so)

Male Gnome Kineticist/Rogue Rog13/Kin 13; Init +7; Percep +29 (+35 trap spotter); HP 159/159; THP 25/45; NL 65/159; AC 30 TAC 21 FFAC 22; Fort +21, Ref +22e, Will +11 (+4 charm/comp, +2 ill, +2 fear/despair); Stealth +36 (works vs BS)

My comment was a joke, I'm good with continuing. I don't know about Rogar, though. I assumed the first few encounters were supposed to be easy as it takes time to dial in the power level of each group. (even without gestalt). I did assume that we should build our characters on the strong side since mythic allows many very powerful options. Including some that resist/overwhelm non mythics.

So it is known, Mi'Al appears to have bailed. I have messaged them about it being their turn, and they have not responded while posting to other places on the messageboards after the message was sent.

Would have been nice to be informed.

To resolve the octopus breathing thing.

A druid is a humanoid while using beast shape. A druid does not gain the aquatic sub-type or any sub-type for that matter while using a polymorph spell such as beast shape.

here is the official ruling

In agreement with Rogard, I'm off. Best of luck to the rest of the players in this game.

Looks like that is that. Game is done. Later all.
