good, will wait for your "summoning" post, meanwhile I read up on the game what I missed out on

This is more rules heavy than Avalon, but I'm still not using initiative. I don't feel that it's practical in a PBP setting. Everyone should post their action for a combat round and I'll sort it out and tell you what the results are and when the next round starts and we repeat the process. This keeps things from stalling out if one person happens to not be able to respond.
Yes, we are using the normal dice roller on the site. IC is fine, but not as convenient now that the forum has a dice roller we can use. Just a heads-up guys, if you do the ['dice="..."] thing it messes up replies like you wouldn't believe. Since I'm often replying to your post with things that include dice rolls by the bad guys I'd really prefer you didn't since it's a mess for me every time. Just put the notation ahead of it in ['ooc].
Zal, I have this thing where my family actually likes me to spend time with them on the weekends. I don't know why. :P
Anyways, that's why I haven't gotten to your intro. That said, I'm pretty much starting people off in the guardhouse within the Warrens. So you've already arrived in Chance and applied to the Watch. If you would like I can summarize the reaction you would have gotten when requesting to be assigned to the Warrens, just tell me what district you applied in.

What do you mean by the bolded area above? Do you have a post as an example?

And this is what I've been cleaning up in all of my replies. It's ugly, annoying, and cleaning it up often causes the dice rolls to change because it treats it as a brand new post rather than an edit.
That should not happen unless you reply to your post. Changing someone else's dice rolls should never be possible.
1d20 ⇒ 15
the roll is 15. This is just the constant

Hey Lynora.
Thanks for having me in the game up until now. My head is spinning trying to follow along here. I was hoping you were going to split up the three groups into three different threads, and hten mix up the groups once in a while, and have us jump threads or something. But as it is I'm having a hard time keeping up and following the story, and knowing when i'm supposed to be playing/interacting with the environment. I feel completely lost right now :( (not your fault at all, I just don't quite get the format). If you plan on splitting it up, I'd love to play, but if it stands as it is I'll have to withdraw! Thanks again!

I can understand the confusion, but the best thing to do is find the other PCs in your unit, and read their posts. I generally skip over any posts not from unit 1 and I read all of Lyn's posts to figure out if they pertain to me or not.
Also, feel free to just start doing your own thing. With Kal, I walked right out the barracks, climbed a building and started to scout ahead. Made a Perception check and Lyn to it from there.

That's basically what I do. However tags would be nice and players could/should do the same to help DM and everyone else keep track. Just a thought.
Group 1
This stuff is happening
Group 2
this stuff is happening
or even
In the guardhouse
stuff stuff stuff
lynora
TCG, that is an excellent suggestion and would really help cut down on confusion. I will start using those tags for my posts and if the players can do likewise this will I think really cut down on the confusion about who is where. :)
Kybryn, I apologize for any confusion. I did state within the recruitment and/or discussion thread that I intended to keep everything within one thread, but obviously not clearly enough. I do think that it works, and now you know why my GMing style has been called 'chatty', but I know it doesn't work for everyone. I think with the idea of tagging posts to indicate who is where it would be easier to manage and I'm always happy to bring people up to speed if you would rather not sort through a pile of posts. For instance, Unit 3 has just left the guardhouse and about two blocks away has run into a tussle between a group of goblins and a group of kobolds. But if you still feel that this is too much for you to handle, then I understand.
lynora
Really, no Initiative rolling? I sorta built Kal to have a nice high one, and now you're taking that away from me?! /sad face, /cry in the corner.
Sorry! I would definitely let you shuffle things around since you didn't know about that. Alternately, I could see allowing an extra attack in the first round to reflect a very high initiative. Let me know what works best for you.

I love your DM'ing style! Don't get me wrong. It's just the format for this campaign is too much. Again, not your fault, and I didn't realize what I was getting myself into. I would love to participate in a single group capaign with you some time.
Thanks again, and no hard feelings on my end!
(consider me officially withdrawn)
Malachai Musashi
Yeah...Malachai has a +11 initiative and a class feature of his is that he can draw as part of an intitiative roll as long as he has at least 1 grit. I think we're ok to hand wave this for most combats unless it works for you to roll for such for tension if you want it Lynora.
Tenoch Itzcoatl
Lyn, I think Tenoch's magic missiles got missed. They were two posts up from Ignot's collective thing. Top of page 5.
lynora
I didn't miss them. They were noted as doing damage, I just hadn't put up a post about them.
Sorry for running a bit behind on the combat. I'm trying to wash dishes, prepare dinner, help the kidlet with his summer homework, and post all at once. Let me get through a couple of those steps and then I'll come back and post what the hostiles are doing. :)

I have ADHD. Multitasking (or the attempt therof) is both common and hilarious as I often forget what the next task I'm supposed to bounce to is. :/
(Yes, kidlet means kid. It's something I picked up from a friend of mine and haven't been able to drop.)
Anyhoo, Mount Dish-more has been conquered, the kitchen has been cleaned, dinner is in the oven, the kidlet has finished today's homework in spite of a lengthy whining session about how much he hates math and shouldn't have to re-do his numbers when he writes them backwards....so now it's time for me to sit down and figure out what's going on in these combats. ^.^
Tiny Coffee Golem
Explain to him that math is the secret to understanding the universe. Sit him in front of the science channel. I like Heavy metal (big machines), how it's made, and this show that speculates about the great mysteries such as aliens and who advancing tech will affect us. Can't think of the name of it.

He'll be nine this weekend. And I have already had that conversation with him. He loves the science channel and when you ask him what he wants to be when he grows up he either says scientist or engineer. Although that's I think largely because I'm currently studying chemical engineering and he's young enough to still think mommy is cool. ^.^
You should have seen how grumpy I was when I reminded him how much math he'll need to know in the future. kinda wish I'd taken a picture. :D
