The spiral staircase 'enters' this floor at the square south of Serge. That square is SW of the one the croc is on.
That would make going to another square, from there, call for an acrobatics roll, unless one would be bold enough to not care for an aoo.
If you see something i am missing, feel free to point it out.
I had ooc'ed that a few posts above. :)
P.s., how am i going to explain this mess to the police? A opera singer crashing down 30 feet from her set?

Hey, quick question about the grease spell. If I use it on Snapjaw's space, would he fall prone (assuming a failed save)? I ask because Snapjaw appears to be some form of quadruped, and I've seen GMs who consider quadrupeds immune or highly resistant to falling prone. I can't remember if that is an official rule or not. I've checked the spell description, the prone definition in the glossary, and the horse entry in the bestiary to see if they get a mention somewhere there; I've seen nothing like that so far. I'd rather know for sure how you'd rule that before using up the spell and action though, considering how things are going.

That's the 1st time i hear that, though i'd not think it impossible to get them prone. Prone means having lost balance on their legs, imo. Quadruplets have a bonus against [trips], from having have 4 legs.
Now if we're talking creatures without legs (snakes), they have in their CMD that they can't be tripped..well, no legs after all.
So i'd say go for it. But i'd give a +2 circumstance bonus for a quadruplet.

Right then, let's get Snapjaw on equal footing with Serge.

Adamondais casts grease on Snapjaw. Using a reservoir point, Reflex DC 17, marked on map in yellow.

He then yells at Snapjaw in draconic, on the off chance it might understand a word or two:

draconic:
"Hey! Get over here, you big overgrown boot!"

The dude stabilizes, whatever he's been smoking seems to be beneficial.

Adamondais coats the floor in a slippery substance.
Reflex Snapjaw, circumstance: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 6 + 2 = 20
Snapjaw, used to slippery surfaces and water, seems decent at staying on his feet.
However, he'll still have to make acro checks to get out.
I'm not rolling for the swarm, since swarms can't be tripped.
-------------
Tasskar hisses, as he sees something on the floor.

Draconic:

"Trying tricks huh? It won't work."

He focuses on the swarm, and it moves on his command towards Balenar and Serge.

Tasskar steps 5 feet forward, and throws a small flame at Adamondais.

That square is SW of the one the croc is on [Question 1: 'Does the crocodile have reach enough to threaten the square that the defendant stepped from immediately before the one he was wrongly attacked upon?'.

The croc only threatens the six squares around itself on the plane it is on. The Dude is entering one of those but not moving any further within nor out of that space. That doesn't trigger an attack of opportunity by the rules unless the croc has reach in which case it would threaten the stairwell which is 10 feet away from it. It being a low to the ground, 'long,' medium-sized creature (I think the large ones can threaten that far with a tail slap) I and Dude would assume it does not have reach. Stepping into a threatened square does not trigger AoO unless you left square that was also threatened by the same creature, I don't care what kind of rough terrain it is. So does the croc threaten the area directly above the square the last step is in? Or the stair itself? Is the map icon on the map depicting a stairwell in the wrong place? Should it be SW of Schrödinger's Paladin?

That's basically all the turn I can dedicate to game play today because I'm off to work.

It seems to me our reasonings are off-synch.
The croc was threatening the square below Serge, which is the square the stairs leads to when entering this floor. Where the floor begins, essentially.
When i looked at the map back then, your icon was west of Serge's square. Getting to that square west of Serge, required to move out of the threatened square, and therefor would call for an acro vs aoo. That's merely it.

The Dude goes full defense and stands up.
AoO croc: 1d20 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 4 = 11
Snapjaw misses his attack. The Dude steps 5 feet back down the stairs, awaiting the next opportunity to heal Serge or Sifah.

You'll understand why on Tasskar's turn.

Not in range yet to cast grease on Tasskar, and don't want to risk getting between him and Snapjaw while that swarm is still about.

Fort vs Poison: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14

Fort vs Distraction: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

I looked up distraction in the swarm subtype to see what it does. Requires concentration checks to cast and Will saves to use certain skills. Am I missing anything? I've got a pretty bad head cold, so I'm likely a bit thick at the moment.

Adamondais tries to dismiss the grease under Sifah. Not sure if this would be concentration or Will, so I'll roll both. If this is even a thing I can do right now.

Concentration: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13

Distraction mentions that the affected target is nauseated for 1 round.
Nauseated itself says the affected can only take a move action on its turn.

Ok, but you'll risk Tasskar coming for you in melee, and he's got a slight advantage to strike against you in prone position. Because...if it's an off hand weapon you want, the trogs downstairs carried clubs, which are also light weapons.

Indeed she can move out with that roll.

For safety purposes, let's say Sifah does leave her sword here, and will get a club from downstairs.

Tasskar knows he'd be at a disadvantage, considering the distance between him and the party, so he decides to remain above, and plot his revenge.

Hmm. How's Balenar doing? Does he have any rounds of performance left? I feel that our best bet is to heal up with the wand and head back up. Waiting the night opens us up to an ambush, and I think Tasskar's spells will help him more than ours will help us. Tasskar will likely summon another swarm, so we'll have to spread out. If Serge and Sifah can flank him, I doubt he'll stay standing long.
