Sifah, you may point me at the lack of 2 hp.
You were hit twice so far, and healed twice, still at 3 hp.
Reflex: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
A greasy coating appears on the floor, and the burning bones slide prone.
The dude moves into the room.
It's still a grim situation.
Dragging requires two free hands.
------------
If Serge wants to drag Dalir, he'll spend a move to get there, and a move to pick up something (arm/leg) to drag him by, just like with objects.
------------
If Sifah tries to drag Dalir, she'll pick up either Dalir's arm or leg, and picking up provokes. Not to mention the fire aura.

![]() |

I think Dude may be able to help in this case, perhaps by dragging Dalir out or healing him, especially if I delay until after Dude's turn.

![]() |

That heal and movement was for his previous turn, he delayed until after me. Currently he still has another turn before the skeleton does.

![]() |

Serge focuses his anger and desperation into his weapon, then brings down his thin sword upon the prone skeleton with vengeance. "Ragathiel, give me your strength!"

The flame from the explosion is unfortunately maximum, and none of the three avoid its blast.
That means Dalir has passed away, at -15.
I'm sorry man. :/
Combat over.

Chyrone |

Sifah is still hurt, but alive.
When you have patched her up, i recommend Dalir's wand for that,
This room appears to be dedicated to Nethys, god of magics, in both
of his aspects: protection and destruction.
The altars still contain their silver altar services, worth 100 gp altogether, as well as two silver holy symbols of Nethys.
In addition, a divine scroll rests atop each altar: a scroll of shatter on the black altar, and a scroll of shield other on the white altar.

Once she is revived...
"I can not believe what just happened. An ifrit killed by fire? How does that even happen? What were those things? I'm not sure I am mature enough to be out here doing this adventuring thing!" She goes on and on.
Dalir, I am very sorry for your loss!

knowledge (religion): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12 "Two-faced bastard." The Dude mutters.
He looks down at what was once Dalir and sighs. "Yeah, I don't think the old sandal's going to help him."

![]() |

"Two faced? Huh? You speak ill of the dead now? I suppose that as an elemental creatures, perhaps he was more closely akin to me than you, but still he deserves your respect in death."

![]() |

Serge looks straight at Dalir, tears nearly forming in his eyes, then gets down on both knees. He takes out his bastard sword and red wing cloth and lays it over Dalir's face, then mouths a quick prayer. When he's done, without a word to Dude or Sifah, he takes the cloth back and picks up the body. Dalir's wand of cure light wounds falls out as he's picking up the body, but he ignores it and heads outside.
He returns to the group about 2d15 ⇒ (8, 12) = 20 minutes later. "Another dead companion on my watch. Just as expected. I am sure I will be joining him soon." Serge sighs deeply.
GM, I assume you're ok with my actions? Side note, Serge can't smite evil again today, and Dude and Adamondais have used quite a few spells. I don't think finding somewhere to rest would be a bad idea. Serge also needs some healing.. And there's that wand ;)

![]() |

Serge picks up the wand and holds it close. With a serious tone in his voice, he says, "I declare this wand the spirit of Dalir" He taps himself a few times with it, and is covered in a bright aura.

After the battle, Adamondais looks on while Sifah is revived. Seeing her awake, he breathes a sigh of relief.
"You're alive! Thank the gods for the small blessings. If only they had been there for Dalir..."
As Serge tends to the body, Adamondais shakes his head and says, "It must have been his time. He seemed to know it, too, and made the most of it by keeping those monsters away from the rest of us. I am no priest, but I would like to help, Serge. It's the least I can do after his sacrifice." Adamondais goes with Serge, helping with doors and keeping watch.
When the group is healing with the wand, he asks, "Mind giving me a shot of that? My shoulder's starting to get rather sore."
Finally, he says "I agree, we should rest. I'm starting to get a headache and I'm not sure how much longer I can keep using my magic as I have been."

![]() |

We definitely shouldn't rest on the third floor. Maybe we could barricade a room on the second? There's still an angry troglodyte and a wild shocker lizard running around, plus whatever we haven't seen yet.

"Two faced? Huh? You speak ill of the dead now? I suppose that as an elemental creatures, perhaps he was more closely akin to me than you, but still he deserves your respect in death."
"No Nethys the Two-Faced Bastard though I guess he's also the god of doors too, maybe. I mean Dalir wasn't a compulsive liar, and his parents were probably married, I guess. Not that there anything necessarily wrong with being born out of wedlock. I mean I'm a love-child and look how I turned out."
After the burial, the Dude pulls out his masterwork 12-string and plays.

"Sorry man, it's the only song I know besides Stairway to Nirvana and that bit from Hotel Korvosa that goes like this." He demonstrates.

Serge taps Adamondais on the shoulder with the spirit of Dalir.

"Very well, I suppose we shouldn't spend too much time in this place, as the troglodytes seem rather vicious. Let's hurry on." Serge moves up front.
I guess we can skip rest, then.

To His Dudeness and Sifah, Adamondais says "Bah, Nethys. Lords over magic like he created the damn stuff. Whole point of arcane magic is that you don't need to answer to any higher power. His followers claim to value magic above all else, but they don't respect it. Just use it with no regard as to its effects."
He sighs, "Sorry. I guess I'm just angry." He nods towards the fallen skeletons. "It was one of his followers that ripped these poor sods from their rest. It was one of them who killed our friend. All to protect some gods damned magic trinkets." He kicks one of the silver holy symbols and spits.
Later, after the Dude's performance at the funeral: "Well, that was a hell of a lot better than that bard back at the inn." He tries to laugh, but it sounds forced. "Hard to believe that was only this morning...we'll drink to his honor tonight."
After the group decides to push on, he says "Fair enough. I'd rather put this place behind me as soon as possible."
Adamondais will continue to cast light on a pebble so we can see. He'll recast it every five minutes or before we enter a new area, since he is cautious well past the point of paranoia.

With Serge carrying the stone last time, we'll do so this time.
After skillfully picking the lock, Sifah lets Serge take point in the room's exploration.
Some daylight is coming in, but there is still low light in the room's NW portion.
As Serge comes around the narrow corner, light-pebble in hand, he wakes and startles a colony of bats....they are none too pleased about their sleep having been disturbed.

I'm not sure where Sifah is, since she shouldn't be in the swarm anymore. I'm assuming there will be some angle I can use burning hands in without frying a party member. I think I could even aim diagonally up (assuming the swarm is 10' tall) and hit the bats without hitting one of us, but I'm not sure.
"Stand back, everyone. This is going to smell awful."
Adamondais casts burning hands at the bats and hopefully nobody else, expending his last reservoir point to deal extra damage.
fire damage: 2d4 ⇒ (1, 2) = 3 (Reflex DC 16 for half)
Swarms take 1.5x from AOE spells, right? So that would work out to 4 fire damage.

Reminds me of when my previous paladin had nothing to use against swarms, so he used a torch as an improvised weapon.
I only have 2 vials of acid so who knows, that may end up happening again.

"They're just bats, just go though 'em and through a door man! Not everything has to be a f!&$in' Mendevian Crusade!"
Yes, I know. Serge and Sifah know. Even Zam the voice-over narrator knows. He doesn't though.

The Dude gives an analysis of the enemy.
How Mendev relates to mere bats...beats me. :)

So my actions (standard and move) for the first round are kinda predicated on 1. Information about bat swarms (free action), and 2. Hearing from someone on the other side of the swarm that there are no obvious doors--a free action for them to take. At which point the Dude suggests leaving (rather than fighting an umpteenth 'Mendevian Crusade' for no reason--point!) by yelling "LET'S GET THE F+&~ OUT OF HERE THEN!!!" and heading back through the secret door (move action). He slams it shut on the bats' faces if they follow him (readied/standard action), and then round 2 can happen.

Chyrone |

Whether they wanted to say anything, though, was on their part.
Since they didn't, you assuming they would have, is your plan still to clarify the bats and move away, closing the door when they approach?
---
Edit after Sifah: Bats are diminutive creatures, therefor swarms of bats are not susceptable to weapons.

![]() |

Can't access map right now, but I'll do the same, please move my token
Serge watches as Sifah and Dude make haste back through the secret door. "A fine plan. I do not wish to try to defeat this cloud of winged fiends. Not that I could, anyway." He then moves back towards the exit.

![]() |

Fort vs distraction: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
So I took 5 damage, and will continue to take 5 damage every round, right? When do I take the damage, my round?
"Gah! I made them angry! More angry!" Adamondais books it. I can leave the room in a single move, so I can close the door on my way out, correct?
"I'm getting pretty light headed... can somebody please help with this bleeding?"

Chyrone |

No, you take 1 bleed damage every round until it's healed.
You take it at the start of your own turn.
The only problem here, is that where you are now, doesn't leave you in a square adjacent to the door to close it.
========================
Bats, round 3
The bats enter the still open door, and bite all but Serge.
All but him a fort roll.
