I don't get the hint... How can we trap the bats back in there?

![]() |

So no round two either for the Dude? Sigh.... I feel so unloved.... If the Dude is allowed to act in round two he opens and/or closes the door for all the bat refugees making sure the door is shut on the swarm of bats. He shouts to tell the refugees as much.
Should I even ask about round three? :(

Chyrone |

Darn, so sorry about that. :(.
In round 2 The Dude shuts the door, the sound of screeching and leathery wings still clearly heard.
+1 to the mistaken HP loss, +1 to Sifah for the bleed.
Technically, combat over.
---------
Since people are still bleeding, let's resolve this in out of combat rounds.
Stopping the bleed is either a healing magic, or a heal check DC 15.
Everyone post your intended actions for 4 rounds.

![]() |

heal on whomever is bleeding (using rags from his garment): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
The Dude, his back to the hidden doorwall, slides to floor. "Whew! That was f+#$in' close man! Did you see all their little teeth?" He wipes his brow on the back of his sleeve. "I need a smoke to take the edge off. Anyone else?"
The Dude takes a break for rounds four-seven if no-one else is bleeding. ;)

![]() |

Serge breathes a sigh of relief, then nods in agreement with Dude. "Let's stay well away from this room... Those things freak me out a little, admittedly." He then pulls out the spirit of Dalir and taps Adamondais, Sifah, and himself with it.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 Adamondais
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 Sifah
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 Serge
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 Serge

![]() |

Was anyone else bleeding? I got someone on round one and Sifah ninja'd someone on round two.
heal as necessary: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
heal as necessary: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
heal as necessary: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
The second no one is bleeding he takes his break.

![]() |

"Thanks, Dude. Good thinking, putting the door between us and them."
hp: -5 from swarm's attack, -1 bleed (last turn). That's 6/12. Then Serge appears to have healed me for 4 on the first round, so I would be at 10/12. Sound right?
"I need to work on my fire magic. That could have gone a lot better. The good news is I now have plenty of guano to experiment on!"

![]() |

"Oh yeah?" The Dude takes a bit off of Adamondais on to his finger and takes a taste. "Mmm. For like a finger food dip or something?"

Chyrone |

Turn 1.
Serge 7/13 > -1 bleed, heals Adamondais. (6/13)
Sifah 7/11 > -1 bleed (6/11)
Adamondais 6/12 > healed for 4. (10/12)
The Dude 11/11: Band-aid Serge, since he's the party healer.
Turn 2.
Serge 6/13 > heals Sifah 5. (6/13)
Sifah (11/11)
Adamondais (10/12)
The Dude doesn't need to band-aid anyone anymore.
Turn 3.
Serge heals himself for 9. (13/13)
The Dude applies some quick band-aid on Serge, who had healed Adamondais.
Between you all, you all feel much better than half a minute ago.
Party vitals:
Adamondais (10/12)
Serge (13/13)
Sifah (11/11)
The Dude (11/11)
=====================
And so you've 'cleared' the 3rd floor.

![]() |

"This has so far gone exactly as I had expected. What is this guano you've collected, Adamondais?" As he shrugs, Serge takes out a ration and casually munches on some berries before passing a few to the group.
With a sigh, he continues, "Well, I suppose we're only delaying the inevitable at this point. Let's move on, if you are all ready to do so."
Exits/Paths to find, GM? ;)

![]() |

Serge nods at Sifah. "Indeed. This world is full of evil. Evil, everywhere, and only our will and strength to vanquish it."

![]() |

Serge will then walk towards the door and hold his ear up against it.
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 17

![]() |

He then whispers to the others, "Prepare yourselves. There are possibly more of those lizard people in here... Or at least something that can speak in ancient tongues."

![]() |

"Guano is bird or bat excrement. I've seen some of the more experienced mages at the Arcanamirium use it in their fire spells. My theory is that I may be able to apply its explosive properties to improve my own spells..." He mutters about the magical properties of guano for awhile.
"Hmm? No, definitely not a dip, though-OH GODS WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" Adamondais turns a little green when the Dude eats guano.
He turns down Serge's offer of rations, having lost his appetite. "I don't know, bats aren't so bad. I've never seen them that aggresive, but I doubt they're evil, per se. Where are you from, anyways, Sifah? If you don't mind my asking?"
"Ancient languages? Let me take a listen." He excitedly listens at the door.
perception: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (9) - 2 = 7

Chyrone |

Just bat droppings. It''s plain bird shite otherwise :P.
Pigeon's ahoy!!!
Adamondais hears only what he recognizes as draconic.
#1 "So about those intruders, do you think they'll come here soon?"
#2 "Maybe, maybe we'll get rewarded greatly if we defeat them."
[Insert any preps you want to do, before opening the door.]
===================
Crude bunks line the walls of this room, which is filled with the
nauseating stench of troglodytes.
Mind you, you make a save vs every troglodyte you get within 30 feet range of. With Serge opening the door, he'll immediately have to make 4. DC 11 or you're sickened for 10 rounds.

I'm running my tabletop group for most of today so I'll not be able to post after 2 EST, so I'll just prepost my actions now, GM adjust as needed
Before opening the door, Serge would have his nodachi in hand
Fort save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Fort save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Fort save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Fort save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
I don't want to move into the room, I want to let the trogs come to us
Serge coughs a few times, "Ughhhh... The stench is unbearable..." He swallows hard to hold in his lunch and strikes at the nearest creature with his sword.
Nodachi, sickened, defensively cause that's a lot of trogs: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (11) + 2 - 4 = 91d10 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Fortitude: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
So I'll be sickened for this encounter!
I'll wait until the trogs go to give my actions.

![]() |

Adamondais whispers to the group, "They're waiting for us. They hope to be rewarded for defeating us. I don't know who would be doing the rewarding, though. Perhaps we could ask the lizard-men to speak to their boss?"
Since we know from before that these troglodytes smell, could we take some precautions before opening the door? If so, Adamondais will wrap a piece of cloth over his mouth and nose, to try to block the stench.
If the group decides to attempt to talk to the troglodytes (I don't necessarily think that's a great idea), then Adamondais will provide translations.
If the group decides to fight the troglodytes, Adamondais will ready an action to cast grease just West of the door as soon as a troglodyte enters that area (I've marked it on the map). He will also suggest that the party use the walls for cover and the door to bottleneck the troglodytes.
When the door opens:
fort: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
fort: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
fort: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
fort: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Wow, I made it! I almost never roll that well consistently.

Chyrone |

The smell won't be isolated by a cloth. Not that you need it with those rolls. :)
Adamondais keeps his fingers ready for spell-time.
------------
#1 "The intruders!"
Blue stands from his bed, and throws his javelin at Serge.
Jav vs ff: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 111d4 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3
Green throws his javelin, Jav vs ff: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 181d4 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2, and lands a weak hit on Serge. Afterwards it moves past the beds, drawing a club.
Red: Jav vs ff: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 121d4 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2, after his attack, he walks towards Serge, drawing a club. Yet as he comes near, Adamondais coats the floor in a slippery grease.
Reflex DC 16: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
The troglodyte falls onto its chest.
Yellow steps into a better angle: Jav vs ff: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 31d4 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3. His aim is so poor, his javelin hits the doorpost above. He draws a club afterwards.

"Whoah. Maybe it was something I ate. Holy f+@$!" The Dude shouts in surprise at the scalyfolk behind the door and the terrible stink. He mutters darkly about how this sort of thing is always happening to him when he's just trying to mind his own business.

Zam Ellyot, Mysterious Stranger |

Off-screen voice-over
"I wish he'd stop with all the cussin' but uh, well, 'Holy fudge' indeed. There was four of 'em lizardy-lookin' hombres and they didn't look none too happy to see the Dude and his friends. Now--surprisingly--I ain't much on organized religion--all that psychic surgery, faith healin' and goin' clear and stuff, but I know one thing, folks just naturally feel mellower around the Dude. It's like walking next to your favorite psychic pillow. That one you used to hug on the stormy nights. The Dude's just like that, and a quart of ice cream with a big oversized spoon. Yep."

After casting his last spell, Adamondais is effectively a commoner in a fancy wizard robe. A fancy robe covered in guano. Not gonna be overly helpful from here on out, sorry guys.
The Zam speaches are always great, haha. Was "goin' clear" a Farscape reference, by chance?
Adamondais moves back a bit, so that Dude can advance if needed. If I can't stand on the staircase tile, then I'll instead move around the staircase to stand just South of it (and the attack will be against green).
Then he casts acid splash at the red troglodyte.

After casting his last spell, Adamondais is effectively a commoner in a fancy wizard robe. A fancy robe covered in guano. Not gonna be overly helpful from here on out, sorry guys.
A guano-covered commoner with acid oozing out of his ears! Now ain't that a picture.
The Zam speaches are always great, haha. Was "goin' clear" a Farscape reference, by chance?
Actually it's a Scientology reference.
Adamondais moves back a bit, so that Dude can advance if needed. If I can't stand on the staircase tile, then I'll instead move around the staircase to stand just South of it (and the attack will be against green).
"Oh no man. I insist. I mean you where already there and all." The Dude waves Adamondais forward trying to be polite (or at least not seeming to be an overt coward). It becomes one of those situations where both men seem to be waiting for the other to move forward.
Haven't actually done anything yet this round. Not my turn yet. Just made a funny.

![]() |

"Excellent choice of magic, Adamondais." Serge compliments the arcanist as he watches several of the troglodytes fall prone. As the glow from Dude's bless spell fades into his body, he recognizes it as blessing from Ragathiel instead, and uses it to focus his attack as he swings the blade forward.
Nodachi vs green, sickened, bless: 1d20 + 4 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 4 - 2 + 1 = 231d10 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 4 - 2 = 4

Evidently, The Dude's blessing was a blessing like no other.

To Sifah's question:
Creatures that do not move on their turn do not need to make this check and are not considered flat-footed.
There is nothing mentioned about standing up requiring a reflex or acrobatics save. When moving through or into, sure.

Adamondais responds to the Dude, "Nah, I'm ah, I'm good back here. It's ah, easier to aim from here. Yeah, that's it."
As Serge strikes down green, Adamondais calls out "Yeah! We got one! And I helped this time!" and offers Serge a high-five.
Feeling more confident, he concentrates and lobs a second acid splash at blue:
attack vs touch, -4 soft cover, +1 bless: 1d20 + 2 - 3 ⇒ (4) + 2 - 3 = 3
acid damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
