Again the harpoon strikes and the beast roars in pain. Then, Faengrim manages to slash it deeply before getting beneath it to tear its throat out! With a sound like air escaping a bellows, it expires.

When my tabletop group encountered these two, the monk grabbed a chain and hopped over the head of one and onto its back. He then used the chain as a bridle and "broke" the triceratops after riding it all over the field (after several Handle Animal and Ride rolls).

Climb checks are not required to scale the giant steps, but any Medium creature climbing the steps must succeed at a DC 15 Fortitude save or be fatigued when it reaches the top.

"Captain, I suggest we return to the ship. Gather some reinforcements for a continued foray inland. We should be well prepared for whatever we find here. Plus, we can take some of that meat we just made back to the crew for a treat."

The trio returns to the boat, collects the two newcomers, then heads back to the statues. A tall stone tower topped with battlements rises along the cliffs here. Two eyeless cyclops statues rise above these defenses, gazing sightlessly over the western sea. Above them, the spire continues upward, tapering into a giant crystal shard of pink quartz. At ground level, immense double doors, decorated in ancient glyphs, form the tower’s only entrance.

Chumtooth |

Chumooth addresses the newly promoted members of the crew, Riori and Rogar.
