You calculate that the building will come down in 12 seconds. A very quick search of the kitchen locates the animal and her two kittens. You have six seconds (1 round) remaining.
Can Nick get himself out of there? I didn't want to jump ahead, do a couple rounds' actions at once, and cause confusion.

QNetic dumps power into his legs, powering up speed. (This gives him move-by action.) Hopefully this allows him to grab the animals and pick up the woman on his way running out of the building. If he doesn't have time to grab them all, he saves the woman.
Psst! Using extra effort can give you an extra standard action's worth of stuff to do. All it costs you is fatigue and you look extra heroic for it...

QNetic |

Yes, thanks. I was misremembering the part about spending a Hero/Victory point to avoid the Fatigue and thinking you needed to spend one to use Extra Effort. QNetic will use Extra effort to gain an extra standard action to pick up the cats and then use move-by to pick up the woman during his move to bust out the superheroics.

![]() |

I am so sorry, I was thinking I was waiting on QNetic, but it appears that you were all waiting on me. Apologies.
With mere seconds to spare, QNetic grabs the animals and leaps from the window, his legs easily absorbing the shock of landing. No sooner that he is clear, the building collapses with a roar. Fortunately, due to the action of the heroes, no one was inside when it fell.
Almost immediately, news reporters surround the heroes, asking dozens of questions. Who are they? What is the name of their group? What are their names? Are they sanctioned by an existing group? Is this incident connected to the plane crash?

Straightjacket |

Having gotten in trouble with the press before since his dad always seems to talk at inopportune times, Straighjacket keeps his pie hole shut and just tries to look confident and heroic.
You should talk to them. Always good to have positive PR, it will make your life easier. he father says, and at a predictably bad time. David manages to restrain himself from answering, but still glares over at his father who is standing to the side, still not seen by anyone else.

Project M.I.N.O.T.A.R |

Preferring to stay busy, MINOTAR ignores the reporters and tries to determine if the building was near the glide-path of the plane.

He will also consult with the fire-fighter chief present to see if they can speculate on the cause of the fire yet? Have they interviewed any of the residents yet? Do they need any heavy lifting done to aid with the finale of the fire?

Hydronaut |
Nick thought about going back to skin, then realized he would be as good as telling everyone who the new hero was. Maybe he wanted to do that, but he meant to think it over some more. Still watery, he smiled.
"Hey everyone. I'm Hydronaut. Brand new here. How's it going?"

QNetic |

"Thank you. My name is QNetic, and although we are not yet affiliated with each other or with any other group, it seems each of us was able to help out in some way or another. As to the two fires being related, with proper authorization, that is something we may investigate, but any suspected correlation is mere speculation at this time. Thank you again for your time and service to our community. I think we should be speaking with the authorities now, so excuse us." Q lays on his best smile, which is made at least somewhat creepier by the grafted flesh and chemically burned scars.

![]() |

A bit taken aback by QNetic's smile, the press crowds around Hydronaut and Isikos, the two that seem most willing to speak to them. Everyone is talking at once and it is difficult to make sense of the myriad of questions.
MINOTAR (and anyone else talking to the fire chief)
"We've got little to go on at the moment. No one heard an explosion, so it likely wasn't a gas main rupturing. No one has yet interviewed the residents. We're a little more concerned with keeping the fire from spreading and keeping the survivors alive. We'll know more after the arson investigator has gone over the scene."

Project M.I.N.O.T.A.R |

"Good work sir. Please keep us in formed of your progress. I do not wish to influence your results, but we will be investigating the reasons behind the fire possibly. The plane that crashed nearby was also set ablaze without reason, and we will be trying to see if the two are related somehow at all."

Electron--M&M |

As a teenager, Electron is a bit overwhelmed by all the media attention. He tries his best to blend into the background... though since he's made of electrical energy, there aren't many backgrounds that he can blend into.
When cornered by a local network affiliate reporter, about all he manages to spit out is, "Uh, hi." and makes a weak grin.

Sorry for the delay. My wife had another eye surgery on Monday (not to fix the problem, but rather to keep it from getting any worse) and our surgeon is two hours away, plus we had to be there at 0715 the next morning, so we opted to stay overnight (as opposed to getting up at 0430 and making a two-hour drive). Anyway, long story short, she's recovering nicely and I'm trying to get back on track.
As you go about your businesses, there is a sudden gust of wind and a roar. "Oh God, what now?" The fire chief turns to look, dreading what might be there.
Darkened skies to the east have begun to swirl and dip down to touch the ground at the eastern edge of town; a tornado!

Jim Margrove - "Ghost" |

When the cameras and reporters had begun to swarm them, Ghost had done what his namesake does - he disappeared. Phasing as needed to get through the crowd, he waited until he emerged on the other side of a fire truck, out of the media's view, before reappearing and catching his breath. He wasn't particularly interested in speaking to them - after all, all fame did was make you a high profile target for villains.
At the fire chief's cry, Ghost turns and stares as the funnel cloud lowers to the ground. "Oh, you have got to be kidding me," he says, before teleporting to the roof of a nearby building to get a better look.
Taking a moment, the hero thinks it out. A plane catches fire for no reason, an apartment building catches fire for no reason, and now a tornado. There is no way this is either a normal day in this town, or a coincidentally bad day. Some person or persons unknown is doing this, and we need to figure out who and how, before more people are hurt.

Project M.I.N.O.T.A.R |

Seeing the funnel form suddenly, MINTOAR knows from his database that weather such as this is most destructive due to lack of warning. Warming up his already strained radio transmitter, he begins transmitting an all channel broadcast immediately:
"WARNING! A tornado of unknown strength has appeared nearby! Take immediate action! Find appropriate cover and stay there until the phenomenon is over! ALL ALERT! All public agencies such as police, fire, and similar should check in immediately and follow all standard protocols issued by their various departments!"
He will then repeat this broadcast on a recorded loop, waiting to hear any responses that may help the situation. He then turns to the others nearby.
"We will need to get closer to the funnel if we want to determine if this strange weather has a source of some kind. Strange: My first surmise was a pyrokinetic or similar energy controller was involved here after two unusual fires close together by location, but now my list of possible suspects has diversified immensely."

Isikos |

Since there were plenty of emergency personnel to deal with the civilians, He heads toward the tornado. Being a shadow, the winds shouldn't blow him away as he slides along the pavement to the funnel cloud.
As he approaches, he scans for signs of what caused this.

Electron--M&M |

Electron has no more idea what's going on than any of the other strange people he's fallen in with, but a tornado had the potential to cause a lot of damage so on he went. He went to the nearest traffic light and used the grid to pop closer to the tornado.
At first Electron had to ask himself, "What the hell and I doing?" before realizing that flying debris would be unlikely to have much of an effect on his energy form. With the relief of that realization, his fascination with the probably unnatural phenomenon came to the fore.

![]() |

MINOTAR, Straightjacket, and QNetic begin heading in the direction of the phenomenon as fast as they can.
Electron arrives at the scene and finds only chaos. Debris is everywhere and the twister is getting closer. People are fleeing for their lives and there are several minor accidents as cars try desperately to get away.

Project M.I.N.O.T.A.R |

MINOTAR uses his flashy jump jets to speed him on his way closer to the weather anomaly. As he gets closer however, jump stability gets harder with the high winds and forces MINOTAR to run the last few hundred yards. Yet again this leaves him behind the others as they manage to somehow move much more quickly with their obviously faster movement powers.

Did Nick make it too? He teleported.

![]() |

Sorry, yes, Nick made it there also.
Those of you just arriving see Isikos and Ghost talking to a young man wearing a leather jacket, tee-shirt and jeans. He seems unfazed by the tornado that roars only a mile or so behind him.
"Get clear, yeah, I guess I should." he shrugs noncommittally. He whistles a gloomy tune as he walks.

Project M.I.N.O.T.A.R |

Moving at first to shield the others with his semi-bulk, MINOTAR seems to change his mind and moves to a large slab of concrete and blacktop upwind and and attempts to 'fold' part of it up to give everyone nearby some basic shelter from the wind and storm's debris.
"Please hurry gentlemen, I do not think this simple shelter will last long against the weather phenomenon directly."

![]() |

Isikos, you strongly suspect that the young man knows more than he is letting on. If he's not directly involved, he probably knows what's going on.

![]() |

The kid seems completely unconcerned about the tornado bearing down on him. He glances up at Ghost and Isikos and mutters, "Don't you heroes have something to take care of?"

"Yeah dude, the tornado!" Nick said.

Jim Margrove - "Ghost" |

"Hey, shadow guy, come here," Ghost motions Isikos a little ways away.
Once he and Isikos are off to the side, he whispers, "Stick close to that kid. Tail him and see what he does. Something feels off about him."
That taken care of, Ghost will look for people trapped in their cars, then phase his arms through the doors to unlock them and help them run to safety.

![]() |

Most of the citizens are fleeing for their lives. The kid is the only one who seems completely unconcerned. He fights as QNetic grabs him. "Hey! Leggo!"
The twister is bearing down on the eastern edge of town, wrecking buildings and throwing debris around itself as it comes. The debris field is easily a half-mile wide.
As the crowd surges forward, a young girl, perhaps 6 years old, stumbles and falls to the ground. She is in danger of being trampled!

Project M.I.N.O.T.A.R |

Suspecting something odd was going on, MINOTAR continues to block the local area near the strange man and the others from debris, as the tornado draws nearer. Drawing on some odd speech linguistics from one of his stranger programmers, MINOTAR looks at QNetic, shouting to be heard over the storm's fury.
"It-hay im-hay on the ead-hay, ently-jay!"

Hydronaut |
Nick started for the little girl, but saw it was handled. He turned back to the dazed guy. Stoned? Under someone's control?
"Sorry dude, but gotta play this one safe," Nick reached out to fill his lungs.
