MINOTAR only nods to Straightjacket and requests everyone to respond to the Javelin hanger ASAP over thier comms. He then send a quick-alert to the JL central command that something major appeared to be happening nearby again and assistance may be required, then rushes off to the javelin himself. He begins the take-off checklist, before even sitting down, skipping as little as possible even in his hurry to take off.

MINOTAR will launch the javelin as soon as the others are onboard and strapped in safely.

When everyone is onboard, MINOTAR launches the vessel and flies out over the ravaged townscape. The city below is in ruins. Explosions have gone off all around the city and the fires are raging out of control. Firefighters are desperately trying to keep the flames from reaching other structures, but the ones already engulfed are a loss.

Flying above the destruction is a single figure, unmistakably female, in a revealing, bright red and orange bodysuit with a dark red cape. In her hands, she holds balls of fire! As you approach, she spins about and launches a fireball at the javelin! MINOTAR, please make a Vehicles check.

Moments like these I'm glad I'm very durable.

Leon had been asleep in bed, an open book on his chest. He barely stirred at the initial explosion, but when then following shockwave slammed into the headquarters he sat up with a jerk. The book shook on the floor as the subsequent explosions shook the base and Leon was already out of the bed and moving. The alarm filled the silence between more distant explosions and paper swirled around Leon as he ran from his temporary room.

He was halfway to the main room when MINOTAR’s called directed everyone to the hangar. Leon quickly changed course and ran. He nearly slid to a stop inside the Javelin as he leapt the few steps up into the vessel. Taking what was becoming his usual seat by the comms he started tuning in emergency channels as he buckled in. Dispatchers were a blur of voices across the board as emergency services tried to respond to incoming calls as best they could.

His full attention on the radio as they launched, he tried to determine the best places they could help, as such Leon didn’t notice the line figure in the sky with them. When the Javelin suddenly nosedived Leon swore in surprise. ”What the f-“

The fireball impacts with the aircraft. Alarms blare and systems whine in protest as the control panel lights up. The team feels the heat of the outer shell. Fuses blow in the control panel and emergency back-up systems come online. MINOTAR, another Vehicles roll, if you please.

I'd like to use my 'Hero' point here somehow please. I would love not to crash and kill everyone in a giant ball of death/fire.

Dark Archive

Maps: Car. Crown || Skull & Shackles

A hero point can certainly be used here, You have a choice:

EDIT SCENE
You can “edit” a scene to grant your hero an advantage by adding or changing certain details. For example, a hero is fighting Poison Ivy in a scientific lab. You deduce the villain may be weakened by defoliants, so you ask the GM if there are any chemicals in the lab you can throw together to create a defoliant. The Gamemaster requires a hero point to add that detail and says the right chemicals are close at hand. Now you just have to use them!

How much players are allowed to “edit” circumstances is up to the individual Gamemaster, but generally hero points should not be allowed to change any event that has already occurred or any detail already explained in-game. For example, players cannot “edit” away damage or the effects of powers (hero points already allow this to a limited degree, see the following). The GM may also veto uses of editing that ruin the adventure or make things too easy on the players. This option is intended to give the players more input into the story and allow their heroes chances to succeed, but it shouldn’t be used as a replacement for planning and cleverness, just a way to enhance them.

HEROIC FEAT
You can spend a hero point to gain the benefits of one rank of an advantage you don’t already have until the end of your next turn (see Advantages). You must be capable of using the advantage and cannot gain the benefits of fortune advantages, only other types. If the advantage has any prerequisites, you must have them to gain the benefits of the advantage as a heroic feat.

IMPROVE ROLL
One hero point allows you to re-roll any die roll you make and take the better of the two rolls. On a result of 1 through 10 on the second roll, add 10 to the result, an 11 or higher remains as-is (so the re-roll is always a result of 11-20). You must spend the hero point to improve a roll before the GM announces the outcome of your initial roll. You cannot spend hero points on die rolls made by the GM or other players without the Luck Control effect.

With no small degree of skill and effort, MINOTAR manages to land the Javelin with only minor bumps.

"Nice pull out there Mino. I was sure we were gonna wreck. Who the hell was that with the fireballs?" he says as he heads for the hatch.

MINOTAR immediately jumps down onto the landing area of the plane through the bay doors and tries to scan the enemy to see where he is currently, and detect if he's approaching the landing sight at all currently.

The figure, unmistakably female, is hovering and gleefully watching her handiwork as explosions continue all over town. She does not appear to be in any particular hurry to get to you. In fact, it seems that she considers you out of the fight, as she is making no move in your direction.

How high up is she? Want to see if she is jumping range.

Seeing the woman taking her time, MINOTAR sends out some basic orders.

"REQUIREMENT: Spread out! Get out of normal view! I will draw her attention, and you all strike as she comes for me. GO!"

MINOTAR then steps out into the open, and begins checking his range for combat needs, his new 'TRIDENT' system unfolding and warming up on his right shoulder.

Yeah what range is she currently, and is the area we landed in safe enough to have a high pitched battle where explosions and such will go off and not cause further distress or damage to civilians or structures?

She is at 600 feet and you are in a field near the edge of town. You have a good 50 yards in any direction of clear space. There is a stand of trees about 55 yards to your west and the nearest structure is about 50 yards east; a civilian home.

”Okay, I swear, no more cracks about your flying.” Leon said as he released the the seat straps. The color returning to his knuckles as he works the buckles.

Leon glances at MINOTAR and nods. ”Bring her in range and we’ll take her down together.” He then motions to Straightjacket and ducks under the wing of the Javelin for cover.

Straightjacket can both jump 900 feet and has 500' elongation reach. In theory I might be able to snag her if I leapt at her. Of course if she dodges, I'll be way off.

"I'll get that psycho!"

and he jumps up and reaches out with stretching gumby arms.

Even as Leon turned to duck under the Javelin’s wing he heard the thunderous boom of MINO’s shot followed shortly by Straightjacket’s declaration. He looked back just in time to see the other man leap. With seaming ease SJ near flew like a launched rubber band, stretching to grab for the floating woman. She was still too far for him to feel comfortable trying to engage. He’d just have to wait for an opening.

Unsure what skill to use so I am using 'unarmed' skill for now to simulate a leaping 'catch' maneuver.: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17

Leon watched impressed (thought he wouldn’t admit it later) as Straightjacket ignored the flames of their opponent and wrestled with her. He had to squint a little to make out what was happening in the air, but saw SJ envelope her and begin to fall.
MINOTAR leapt to intercept the plummeting form and Leon stepped out from under the wing and with a wave of paper formed a giant air filled cushion, like the kind used by stunt actors when they jump off buildings, to absorbed the impact.

Unable to argue with SJ's effectiveness, MINOTAR signals the authorities that things seem to be under control for now and they can move in to help start containing fires and begin full rescue for anybody who might need help. He then immediately contacts Justice League headquarters for fireproof containment of the female villain as soon as possible.

Finally, he turns to the woman.

"Statement and query: You are most troublesome. Who are you and why are you simply destroying things and hurting people? Besides your obvious enjoyment of the actions involved, you must have known the Justice League would respond to such endeavors quickly. Are you alone in this, or are you merely a pawn in this situation? I must warn you however, any answers you give will be recorded for posterity. They then could be used against you later in a court of law."

"Who am I?" the woman seems insulted. "You've never heard of Shee-Ariel?! No matter! Before this day is done, no one will ever forget me again! A pawn? Shee-Ariel is no one's pawn!" Another explosion sounds in the distance and this accompanied by a report over the police band. It seems that the last explosion weakened the supports on the water tower in the center of town. Thousands of gallons of water stand poised to flood the city unless something is done!

Leon started to ask when MINOTAR grabs the poor little man and launches them both into the air.
”Son-ov-a...”
He exclaims, having to yell over the rush of wind.
”A little warning next time!”
He tried to sound annoyed, but was too distracted to make it sound believable. He stared ahead and held on. As they approached the water tower he eyed it with concern.
”I’ll try to shore it up. Hope I have enough paper.”

Landing nearby the tower, but not in the estimated direction of its fall, MINOTAR sets Leon down and rushes forward in an attempt to move AND estimate his options at this point.

These are the options I'm guessing I have right NOW, so feel free to update with anything obvious I am missing:
1. I can see MINOTAR using his strength to hold the tower up/back. Either from underneath or pulling on it from the opposite side.
2. Leaping and punching the tower in the direction that is safest (if there is one) or towards an already on going fire.
3. Or trying to destroy the tower with his rail gun, hoping the small blast will rupture and disperse the water (and a good chunk of the tank) into safer to manage smaller bits much like a care crashing into a water barrel on the highway to prevent injury.
Do any of these appear to be the most obvious automatic choice?

There is no real "safe" direction. Any impact will cause widespread flooding. You can certainly try to shore it up. but that is a temporary solution at best.

With his feet once again firmly on the ground Leon gathers himself and eyes the water tower. He rushes forward with MINOTATR.
"MINO, contact Public Utilities. Tell them to start draining the tower. I'll try to keep it up as long as I can."
Ribbons of paper lash out from the container on the back of his belt. They snake around from one failing support to the next, weaving the structure in a web of paper. Leon pours all of his willpower into them, his full concentration on task against the possibility of millions of gallons of water flooding the surrounding area. He tries to live up to the name he took on when he first accepted his power and embraced it. The Paper.

Paper is trying to use his Create power to reinforce the tower until it can be safely drained.

Following Leon's advice, MINOTAR attempts to contact the city's municipal water group using his internal communications array, and requesting the immediate draining of the water tank. Transmitting instructions without saying anything out loud, MINOTAR begins trying to weave structural 'supports' into the Leon's paper webbing by grabbing tall trees, light poles, and whatever else might help the man shore up the tower's failing structure.

Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14

Perception seems to be the easiest skill I have that might fit the action I'm trying to perform. I may also have an idea to shore up the tower better...but we need to get the water tower semi-stable first becasue it won't work quickly. Leon, you may want to push your efforts on this and use your 'hero' point, but it is up to you.

Leon works feverishly to shore up the tower, aided by MINOTAR's heroic efforts. At first, it seems to be a losing battle as the tower tilts precariously. Gradually, though, the storm of debris and paper prove strong enough to shore it up... for now.

Back with Straightjacket, the woman says, "You know, I could use someone like you on my team. There are certain, ahem, fringe benefits."

"Considering you're gonna end up in Belle Reeve, that's not a very tempting offer. "

At the Water Tower: MINOTAR makes an educated guess as to which valve is the pump and quickly turns it. The water can be heard rushing down the central pipe. It takes an agonizing ten minutes for the tank to drain, Leon struggling to keep the tower erect for the time required. Finally, he can hold it no longer and the tower collapses to one side, crashing to the ground in a cloud of dirt, dust, and the shrieking of metal strained past its breaking point. The crash shakes the area as it hits, but fortunately, the vast majority of the water has drained and there is little left.

Straightjacket: The woman merely smiles a sly smile as the police arrive to take custody of her. She offers no resistance as they snap on the restraints and move her to a special vehicle.

SJ will head for the water tower in case they need his help.
