Nodding MINOTAR assuages Straightjacket's worry.
"Mild Disagreement: On the contrary SJ. We learned several things. ONE: The camera's were tampered with expertly. That means the person or persons who broke in had technical knowledge or training. TWO: The fresh roach carcass leads me to believe the perpetrators who were involved either live in or frequent places where such things are more common. Such as a sewer or some abandoned location. They also allowed the insect to 'hitch-a -ride' along with them until it was found and 'squished' here. THREE: The vault door was opened by someone who was augmented. FOUR: It also does not appear the perpetrators got what they came for. So we have a ton of information, just not enough to accuse or follow up with soon. My guess is we need to keep an alert out for other vaults being broken into and we will find another chance to catch them."

It has been two days since the vault break-in. Straightjacket is on patrol when shots ring out! Following the sound of the gunshots, you find a man running from an alley near a bar, with a battered pistol in hand.

The man aims the gun at Straightjacket. "No way! You aren't taking me in!"
Leon 'the Paper' Moore
Leon sat in the Meeting Hall of the HQ looking over the interviews and reports from the police department. Copies of them were scattered around and even a set of the building's plans sat off to the side half unrolled.
He sips on his 3rd cup of coffee, the pencil twirling in his fingers as he scowls at the papers. "Geez, I didn't how so many people were need to run a sperm bank. Unsurprising tho, so many people can say so little."
Leon leaned back and tossed the pencil on to the table. A wave of his hand and the papers shuffle themselves into proper stacks. He yawns and lifts the paper cup only to stop and shake it. He frowns, tossing the empty cup into a nearby trash.
Getting up he heads towards the Monitoring room to see who was on-duty, watching the screens.
Project M.I.N.O.T.A.R
Hearing Leon's words, MINOTAR makes a 'HERM' noise to stop him, although it comes out more like an echoing 'THRUM.'
"Query: Are they a sperm bank? I was under the impression the place was some sort of Bio-Engineering facility? Was I mistaken? The vault was...very sturdy for just a sperm bank. Of course, I am no expert."
Leon 'the Paper' Moore
Leon chuckles as he shrugs. ”They have sperm in a vault.”
"Mino, can you do deep research of the company? Like who are its customers?" Coldwar asks.
Leon nods and adds. ”And who owns it. Maybe there’s a rival that wouldn’t mine seeing them take a hit.” He pauses in thought. ”Especially if they have any shady backers or board members.”
Project M.I.N.O.T.A.R
MINOTAR nods.
"Assurance with Caution: I have no problems trying, but know that I'm no 'Hacker' of any skill yet. I was originally programmed for basic infiltration and combat."

Standing in the corner of the room un-moving as he wanders the internet wirelessly, MINOTAR speaks aloud again.
"Thoughtful Note: I still think the robbers were...probably...merely mistaken. They saw or heard about a 'big' vault and 'thought' it contained something valuable. I could be wrong, but there is no other evidence yet to suggest otherwise. Remember, the simplest explanation is often the most correct."

Horizon Research is a privately-controlled genetic research enterprise; they just happen to have a sperm storage facility. It is headed up by CEO Paul McDaniels, an entrepreneur in the scientific community. Its customers include many prominent agencies in the civilian sector. A thorough search reveals no rivals beyond the expected range of similar companies. Everything seems to be above board.

"I was working. I'm just a mule! Scuzz is the man that you want."
The police detectives are on the scene shortly after you call and take the man into custody. He has almost $20,000 in narcotics on him. You may interact with him further if you wish.

Later, back at headquarters, you receive a communique from the Martian Manhunter. Apparently, the league has need of Coldwar's unique power set.
Translation: He has asked me to give him an exit. He isn't feeling the game and was kind enough to let us know, rather than just ghosting.
Before you have time to dwell on his departure, you get an alert call about a small plane in trouble. A Piper Cub is over the city, trying desperately to make it to the airport, but they have an engine aflame!
Project M.I.N.O.T.A.R
That sucks, but I understand Coldwar wanting out if that's what he really wants. Can we launch the Javelin in time to catch the plane? Or is that not an option? None of can fly on our own really. We have at least 2 super-leapers. I'm unsure what else we can do otherwise.
Leon 'the Paper' Moore
I‘m sorry to hear CW has left.
in the monitoring hall, the system picked up a call for help. A small, single engine plane was in trouble and there was no time to hesitate. Leon was out the door and sprinting down the hall towards the hangar.
Seeing Straightjacket in the hall he calls out as he continues running. ”S.O.S. from a small plane. Time to fly.”
In the Javelin as one of the others take the pilot’s seat, he quickly gets on the comms and tries to contact the pilot and local control tower. “ This is The Paper onboard Justice League Javelin-7, in route. Please advise condition on board and potential safe landing area if we can bring the bird in safely.”
If SJ joins them on the Javelin or stays behind to monitor from HQ will just change Leon addresses him over the comms or in person.
When Straightjacket tells them about his encounter Leon smirks.
”Scuzz? Sounds like a winner. We’ll have to look into it when we get back.” He stops smirking and focuses back on the comms.

MINOTAR takes the Javelin's controls and launches the second everyone is strapped in.
"Warning: Hold on and prepare for high Gs. I will be pushing the Javelin's speed to get us to the troubled plane in time.

You can reach the stricken plane with the Javelin. What do you have in mind?
Project M.I.N.O.T.A.R
Assess the situation first! Can we tell what is wrong or discuss it with the plane via radio before we get there? Once know the details we can plan our actions from there. Our priority I think is to get the plane to land safely if at all possible(probably not). If we cannot do that, then we will need to extricate the passengers/pilot then make sure the remains of the plane cannot crash into anything dangerous or potentially harmful.
Project M.I.N.O.T.A.R
"Statement and Query: It is possible the Javelin could support a small plane too. It is designed for light space travel so it should be able to compensate some for an extra load. But I doubt for long. We are going to be lucky enough just to rescue any people involved. SJ, can you make yourself into a parachute if needed for someone? Can anyone else pilot the Javelin if needs be?"
Does anybody else have the 'vehicles' skill?

The plane has three passengers and a pilot; two males and two hysterical females. Whoever is flying the Javelin, please give me a Vehicles roll to get under the plane and support it.

MINOTAR attempts to maneuver the Javelin beneath the small aircraft, but cannot seem to hold it steady. However, Straightjacket manages to grab the other craft and pull it close. There is a bump as the smaller plane settles atop the Javelin. It is all that Straightjacket can do to keep the two aircraft together.
Project M.I.N.O.T.A.R
Fighting to keep both aircraft in the air, but also Struggling not to break the Javelin's controls with his strength, MINOTAR comments loudly.
"URGENT REQUEST: Mr. Leon? MR. Rosa? If you would aid the passengers to the ground or onto the javelin...somehow...I will lower the chain ladder to help, as long as you can avoid SJ's grapple-form."
I think my next upgrade will be to add some sort of nano-bot Tele-mechanic ability. Being able to control (and maybe repair) almost any machine with a simple touch/short range may be a better deal sooner than later! =)

”Nice catch.” Leon yells over the rush of wind, joining Straightjacket at the hatch. ”Gimme a sec to secure it.” Drawing from the case on the back of his belt, a long narrow ribbon of paper snakes out. In a flash, it darts out to wind around the small plane in a crisscrossing pattern before slipping down around the Javelin and back up to the plane. The ribbon severs itself cleanly from Leon’s roll and in the next instant stiffens like steel to secure the small plane. ”That should hold it. Think you can stretch up and let them know we got them?” He asks patting Straightjacket’s shoulder.
Turning to Tabula he asks. ”Once MINO brings us in safely. I’ll put up a slide for the pilot and passengers, should be safer in their state. Think you can calm them down and make sure no one’s seriously injured while SJ and I get the plane down off the Javelin?”
I figured it’d be safer for SJ to try to stretch up then to have one of us to try to climb up while we’re still flying. :p
Edit: If you want me to make a power roll for creating the banding I can.
WhtKnt
|
Negative on the power roll for the banding. I'll assume it works.
Making sure the plane is secure, Straightjacket stretches up to the cockpit and gives the startled pilot a thumbs up. The port side wing of the civilian aircraft is aflame! The pilot shuts down the engine as soon as he realizes that the plane is secured to the Javelin.

MINOTAR, please give me a Vehicles roll for the landing. The DC will be slightly higher because of the added weight.
