The search of the inn brings the Pathfinders to a rather macabre scene. The inn has a very basic layout: the first floor is a bar/restaurant combination with a small kitchen in the southwest corner. The kitchen has a door leading north to a small outside garden that was dug up and hacked to pieces. All of the food left on the ground is spoiled and rotten. A set of stairs along the north wall of the bar leads to the second floor, which contains several small rooms, each with a cot or single bed inside. Every room has been thoroughly ransacked and the room farthest from the stairs has the remains of a dozen or so mostly-eaten human corpses.

The group surmises that the two slain orcs outside had been living in here for several weeks, judging by the condition and decay of the corpses.

The building behind the inn is a storage barn full of farming implements, but little else of interest.

Where to next, Pathfinders? Went to edit the map and saw that a new itinerary has been added. I'll get another post up tomorrow for 5th building onward.

Leaving the inn behind, the party heads northeast to a pair of craters which have apparently smashed through several outbuildings. The craters are twenty feet deep with steep, muddy sides, and rocky debris is spewed in a northwesterly direction from each crater. Half of a farmhouse stands forlorn in the afternoon sun, and its remaining contents appear to have been looted as well. The next structure, to the west, is a whole farmhouse similarly devoid of its former furnishings.

Returning the main road, the line of Chelish heads mounted in pairs on pikes every fifteen feet sets the mood as the Pathfinders begin their Door Protocol. Omrax steps up to detect evil...

A much better recollection, Sareth. It comes to mind that a few more ranks in some knowledges wouldn't go amiss...

Kingmaker Tactical | Strategic | The Marchlands | Campaign Tracking | Liberation Points: 16

A trio of massive, armored skeletons come tumbling out of the cornfield. Judging by their thick bones and tribal trappings, Sareth judges that these skeletons are likely the undead remains of several other members of the same orc clan he encountered earlier. Perhaps they have retained some of the same abilities...

They certainly retained some intelligence: one skeleton takes the long way to get into flanking behind Sareth. Sharp claws scrabble for Pathfinder flesh in quick slashes.

    Claw @ Sareth: 1d20 + 16 - 1 ⇒ (12) + 16 - 1 = 27 HIT Damage: 1d4 + 11 + 3 - 1 ⇒ (3) + 11 + 3 - 1 = 16

Once again, Sareth finds himself followed--but it's no matter. His jet of light obliterates the entire rib cage and half a pelvis of one of his assailants, leaving it looking rather sad. For a skeleton, that is.

Almost ninja'd by Omrax, but I made my Spot check! Because of Step Up, Omrax can't reach Red but can smack Green silly if he'd like.

Continuing on, the party enters a house that likely served as a commander's or governor's home, judging but the superior (though equally smashed) decor. Two uninteresting, blood-stained, and ransacked farm houses follow, leading the party finally to the barn and pasture.

Some slight scorch marks appear in one corner, as though someone tried and failed to raze the barn. The bodies of two stable hands, both human teenage boys, are just inside the doors to the barn. In the pasture beyond, the tall grass in blanketed in dead, bloated cattle.
