sareth can't prepare fireball, his domains are healing and glory.
That'd be why! My bad for assuming all clerics of Sarenrae take the Fire domain :)
Omrax winds up his blessed blade and cuts as hard as he can--this time fully severing the trunk! He uses this opportunity to make an effort at cutting Skybek free, which elicits and pained yelp from the dwarf as well as a gash (but not gap) in the fibrous sac.
Skybek again attends to his wounds, both acid- and Omrax- inflicted.

Sareth takes a bite in the chest as he moves to further the gash left by Omrax. Skybek again yelps as the scimitar cuts through to dwarf-flesh in a spray of escaping acid and gases. The cocoon quickly shrivels and dissolves once exposed to open air from the inside, leaving a very disheveled looking dwarf.

Again, you need a light weapon as you do not have room to properly maneuver a larger weapon. Unfortunately, a scimitar is a 'one handed' weapon, not light, and I don't see any light weapons in your statblock either. Take two rounds of actions.

True! I hadn't considered the bite.
Quinn attempts to chew his way free! You can still act for a second round (to start Round VII) if you're not cut free in the meantime. Sareth slashes an auxiliary tendril in a frantic attempt to bring down this final trunk before it eats Skybek again. Are you including prayer in those rolls?

I think the Liberation blessing can only affect you, but the point is moot:
Redirecting his attack at the only still-fighting trunk, Mrachni advances and cuts it down. The jaws around Skybek slowly relax and the dwarf is able to pull himself out. With the last connection to the black rock finally severed, the huge stone shudders and lies still.
Out of combat!
Vines running along the floor of the cavern wind down to an eight-foot wide tunnel, leading deeper beneath the fort.

Between the two clerics and the paladin, I think you're all set for healing with a wand (for now).
The tunnel descends a few turns and then enters a large cavern glittering with the light of phosphorescent algae growing on the eastern wall. A small lake, fed by an underground stream that flows south through the cavern, occupies most of the west side of the room. The vines from above stretch across the cavern and wrap around an enormous stone coffin, solidly perched atop a well-carved stone dais.

"Mae friends," Skybek remarks as he gets uncharacteristicaly emotional and wipes tears from his eyes. "Ahh just want tae thank yae fer savin mae life. If it wasnae fer yae, Ahh be gettin ready fer a metamorphosis intae a some beastly plant food. Remind me tae bring a wee blade next time Ahh get near dwarf eatin plants!"
A short while later, as the company looks across at the stone coffin, Skybek casts longstrider and Bull's Strength upon himself.
"When yer ready, Ahh'm happy tae give yae all a Blessing O' Fervor! Just gie me the word!"
Trex, I was not clear if Skybek simply did not have the chance to cast Bull's Strength or if he lost it with a lack of concentration.

Lost it in the Concentration check, but moot again:
Omrax heaves on the heavy stone lid and, with an assist from Mrachni and Skybek, manages to shove it off with a loud thud that echoes around the underground lake.
Within are the perfectly-preserved body of a woman, still clad in brilliant orange and red robes. A simple silver ring is banded upon her finger, and a wand clasped in the other hand. Around her neck is a hand of glory, also bearing a ring: a ring of counterspells. One of her earrings is a pearl of power (2nd level) and beneath her body are 4000 gp in Osiriani gold trade bars.
With this massive haul collected, and stowed in various packs and extra-dimensional spaces, the party climbs back up into the night and begins the long journey home.
End of Part I! Congratulations, everyone. Chronicles out shortly.

EPISODE II
THE WATCHER OF AGES
Back in Sothis at last, Venture-Captain Norden Balentiir allows the team only two days' rest before he gathers them again in his office and shuts the door. "Fine work in retrieving the body of Akila from Belkzen--a shame that Heralt did not make it out. Since you've done so well, I am sending you out again--this time to Cheliax. This is an unprecedented chance for the Pathfinders to learn more about the history of Osirion and some of the figures that played important roles but have been little more than shadowy rumors to us until now. A little-known Osirian merchant prince named Zuberi who lived in the time of Cheliax’s Everwar used the chaos and confusion it caused as cover to grow his mercantile empire. He sent agents far and wide to take advantage of this chance to make additional fortunes. One of these agents was known as Meskhenet the Wise, a woman of uncommon beauty and unsurpassed insights. She went into Cheliax proper in order to set up a secret smuggling operation directly beneath the Crown’s nose. A fortress was built called the Halls of Zuberi from which she could organize shipments from pirates on Cheliax’s west coast and bring them in past customs officials and military patrols alike in order to reach the black markets of Westcrown and Egorian in central Cheliax. How she managed to pull this off is unknown, but it is known that it was successful for many years and filled her coffers with foreign gold."
Balentiir pauses to open the shutters on his window, allowing a light cross-breeze to clear the stuffy office. "Ah, where was I? Oh, right. These Halls of Zuberi rang with the sounds of commerce for nearly 50 years before disaster struck. In a single night, all was lost in a holocaust of unleashed magic and destruction. The fortress caved in on itself and became an impassable ruin known today as the Collapsed Halls. Meskhenet disappeared in the catastrophe, her mercantile networks fell apart, and they too eventually disappeared with nary a trace. This all became a minor and poorly understood footnote in history. Information recently came into our possession describing a powerful magical ring that Meskhenet wore. Somehow, it is rumored, it was this ring that apparently allowed the successes that she experienced in their operations, and all knowledge of it disappeared with Meskhenet.
"We believe there is more to this tale than simply the mercantile dreams of a brilliant businesswoman. This is reinforced by the fact that we’ve lost three venture-captains since word came to us of the merchant prince and this ring and others like it--perhaps the one you discovered in Belkzen. Someone is trying to keep this whole thing hushed up, and they’re willing to kill to do it." An angry resolve builds on the Venture-Captain's face. "The Society is not about to be intimidated or silenced. I need you to travel to Cheliax, head up the Maiestas River to the Collapsed Halls, find the magic ring of Meskhenet that our sources say lies somewhere beneath the ruins, and get back here with it in one piece. Watch your back, because it seems somebody doesn’t want us to find it."
Any questions?

![]() |

Quinn's demeanor changes with the announcement of lost venture captains and asks afterwards "What dangers can we expect from the region? Likely undead in the ruins because, let's face it, when isn't there? But what else?"
-Posted with Wayfinder

GMTrex |

Balentiir shakes his head. "Difficult to say. The Collapsed Halls are considered cursed and shunned by locals, but until now we had also believed the ruin picked over by scavengers. I have some greener agents looking over records to see if the lone Pathfinder expedition there, in 4351 AR, discovered anything of note, but there's nothing in the Chronicles from that early period of our history, at least."

![]() |

"One expedition, and more than 350 years? I wouldn't expect much." The cleric turns to Quinn, "I think you're right. Though, considering it's Cheliax, I wouldn't be surprised to find otherworldly beings too. Thankfully the VC saw fit to include Omrax."
Sareth looks about, "I have no questions that will affect my execution. I'm ready."

![]() |

Omrax nods in silence as he allows the VC and others to discuss the briefing.
"Lord Balentiir, is there a description or drawing of this ring? It would be helpful to determine we have found the correct one before we depart. Before we leave, you have my oath this shall be accomplished and any evil lurking in the depths of the collapsed ruins will be eliminated. Sir!"

GMTrex |

"Nope. Hopefully it's still attached to Meskhenet."
