Vojtek is unconscious, helpless, bleeding and at -8 HPs.

Five-star Hound of Tindalos. Er, GM. Whatever. | RoW Encounter Map |

Ice troll for the win! O.o

Vojtek will stabilize on Edward's turn due to lifelink, but I'll admit I was nervous — really thought that crit confirm might end it all. Whew!

with a combination of fear for her own life, and rage at Vojtek's mauling, Ali steps forward to try to stop the troll from getting away and calling help (yeah, like she needs it) and tries one again to get a good strike in.

Second round fire damage from the alchemical fire that hit last round. 1d6 ⇒ 1

Kappi stifles a cry of concern over his friend being severely mauled by the troll. He was going to try and conserve his limited supply of molotov cocktails but the situation is looking Grym.
The young rogue hefts a second precious bottle of alchemical fire. Gauging distance he throws.

Sorry, sorry...by my count it's round 4. Technically Ali goes last, before the troll. I didn't think it mattered all that much considering how few times we've hit the biotch so far.

So, Ali's miss will come after everyone else does their thing.

Kappi is correct, it is everyone's third round of actions. (Although, once we're through the first round, it typically becomes a banter of you guys-them guys.)

Davosh and I are partially responsible too, as he posted his 3rd round and I responded right away.

    Round 3

Second round damage from second molotov cocktail 1d6 ⇒ 4

Trying to save his last alchemist's fire, the lad pulls out a bottle of strong acid. He originally bought it thinking to use it more a trap or lock he couldn't best, but it should work against a regenerating troll almost as well as fire. At least he hoped. He hurled the glass against the troll's torso.

    1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 7 + 1 = 24

Round 3 the get em up round

Edward still feels the pull of Vojtek's on his life so he gives it to him. The wand is used again to help Ali survive the trolls onslaught.

CLW Wand on Ali: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 Actually DM this brings up a question. The wand couldn't be made by a 1st level caster. Should the healing from it be a 1d8+5?

Edward then moves to a better location to shoot the troll. Drawing his bow during the movement.

Results Ali +2 hp, Vojtek +5 hp, Edward -5hp for 25/31

    Now onto Round 4

Kappi would indeed get sneak dice from a melee flank.

And the troll has 10' reach, so yes, Vojtek is threatened where he is.

Can you not use an acrobatics/athletics check to tumble and avoid an AoO? if so tumble from prone to standing. I thought it was a DC 15 or some such

Round 4 The lets move and think tactics round

Edward continue's his healing of Vojtek, and uses the wand on Ali again. Ali step away after you attack. Make it chase you even the fight a bit. Give Vojtek some room to get up. Maybe he will drink one of his potions too. Edward says in draconic.

    Round the Third

Vojtek seizes the opportunity to leap to his feet, the fatigue and exhaustion faded from his body while he lay prone, and his renewed anger gives him a surge of vitality.

    acrobatics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26 to stand up unmolested (hopefully)

Vojtek flies into a rage and attacks with abandon!

    Power Attack with Greatsword: 1d20 + 10 - 1 ⇒ (11) + 10 - 1 = 20 for 2d6 + 11 + 2 ⇒ (2, 4) + 11 + 2 = 19 damage.

    This is true.

As a full round action, Vojtek could crawl five feet but that provokes.

Vojtek can use Acrobatics when prone, but it's a full-round action to move five feet, and the DC is increased by 5.

Your GM has not yet announced the result of your roll.

Does Vojtek have any hero points remaining?

Character Sheet | Tactical Map | XP

OOC - Re: Hero Points: yes, never used any. Against Angr-O's wishes, Vojtek uses a hero point. Do me a favor, from a narrative point of view, if this succeeds - let's make it awesome :) If it fails, let's make it equally awesome in a more tragic sense.

BTW- this is an awesome encounter! The real threat of losing makes for awesome D&D!

He does bring up an interesting point. You can't crit or fumble on skills, but this skill is going against a CMD which allow natural 20's as an automatic success, so how is this ruled?

Vojtek roll a d6 and add the result just hope it's not a 1 since you need a 2 to hit the CMD of Bordegga

Five-star Hound of Tindalos. Er, GM. Whatever. | RoW Encounter Map |

Yeah, what Davosh said. Even going against a CMD, it's still a skill check, so a 20 doesn't automatically succeed (and a 1 doesn't automatically fail).

Kappi flings an axe, but he is clearly distracted from his fallen companion and it sails harmlessly over the snarling troll's head!

Edward heals the barbarian and taps Ali with the wand again (I presume he moved over there and I missed it at one point)!

Vojtek's eyes flutter open, and with a move equal parts desperation and determination he imagines his hands to be claws and somersaults away from the troll's menacing arm, managing to pull himself up at the end of the roll and land on his feet!

Ali, almost inspired by Vojtek's grit and will, uses her flaming blade to good effect, driving it into the heart of the ice troll and ending her!

    OUT OF COMBAT!

Five-star Hound of Tindalos. Er, GM. Whatever. | RoW Encounter Map |

Also: I was willing to allow Vojtek to get up cos he rolled a 20 at a critical moment and it's cool and cinematic in a drama-filled scene (plus, despite my rhetoric, I don't particularly enjoy offing PCs as a general rule — there have been exceptions, of course), but please remember that the rule is clear that you don't actually have another action to allow that so please don't expect me to offer that every time in the future.

Nadya listens intently after the troll falls, her hand raising to silence any verbal celebration. After a few moments, she exhales, relived that no evidence of others hearing the combat has been revealed.

Ve must be more careful in the future, she says quietly, lest ve reveal ourselves here before ve are ready.
