Someday — I do not know when that will be, but someday — I will get my weekends back.
I'll say Ali went after Black while Kappi went after Blue. I moved them accordingly.
Vojtek clearly needs time to get acquainted with his new toy, as his arrow misses!
Ali's black ray sails just over Blue's head, missing it by the slimmest of margins!
Double-checking Kappi's math: it's a range increment of 50 ft, meaning Kappi gets one more -2...but that's just enough to hit the touch AC!
DC 15 Refl: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (12) + 13 = 25
Black continues to fly, though it is effectively entangled!
Round 1
baddies — shoot!
Ali — missed by that much
Kappi — tanglefoot bag
Davosh — cast blindness
Edward — GO
Vojtek — miss

Round 1
Vojtek I wish I could pull a bow with that pull, but alas I couldn’t afford that magic Edward exclaims while the evilness of the creatures washes over him.
You’re evil stench precedes you! Apsu will not allow you to hinder us longer, feel his smiting sting.
Edward’s bow string thrums twice launching arrows at black in rapid succession, as the healing energy leaves him.

Round the Second
Vojtek's grim expression creases into a feral grin as he feels the power of his mighty bow. He rapidly grabs another arrow, draws the bow with ease and releases it. Seemingly before the arrow's brown fetching clears the handle, another arrow is on its way to the quivering string. His back arches again, muscles flexing against his tanned skin, and a second arrow is pulled and released to the wind.

Wow tough flying boogers... whomever designed this ap is a straight up @$$, never have I seen so many flying, DR creatures at this low levels. Not really complaining, just a different challenge. BTW shouldn’t the tertiary attacks be at a +8?
Round 2
Ed smiles as the hand of Apsu pushed him further to the side to avoid the first arrow. The second glances off his shoulder pauldron causing a grimace as the arrow hit with some force. nooooooo Vojtek... not the entangled one (which is blue)... he means to shoot at black the damaged one. But it’s still a stupid bow
ohhh sneaky sneaky DM do enough damage to the healer so he can’t do damage. :P
Round the Third
The Kuchrima’s death from above tactic isn’t lost on Apsu’s servant. If he had wings he would do the same thing. The volley peppered the ground around Edward, a few slamming into and piercing his armor driving him down to his knee, only using his longbow for support kept him upright. Still Ali, and Kappi felt Edwards healing flow to them.
With a grim determination Ed extracted the oversized arrows flicking them down planting them in the ground as if he was going to use them in his bow if he ran out of ammunition. They were there as a focus a focus for his almost desperate prayer.
Apus lend me your healing and majestic presence so I can bend these creatures to my will.
Some would say that Ed took on a shimmer. Vojtek could feel the Dragon Gods power enter his Paladin. Ed’s wounds sealed and when he stood Ed’s voice seem deeper and more resonant.
That bow is to large and heavy for you. DROP it Ed voice commanded.

So Ed was down to 5 hp after taking dmg and his life links... I don’t think Vojtek and Davosh have any damage. So Ali and Kappi heal 5 each. Ed heals 17, so 22/56. If I take damage next round I will probably drop the life links (good thing that’s an immediate action

Vojtek is far from unfazed. He is fazed, extra fazed as a matter of fact. But that won't stop him. More arrows will stop him, but being fazed? No way.

Yes Yes young Kappi. I could tell you tales about Ferox Kerr and his legend. But you have some fighting to do, so lets not get to distracted laddy.

Edward's first shot brings Black crashing to the canyon floor in a crumpled heap. Blue, after taking edward's other two arrows, decides that being alive is better than not being so and flies off in self-preservation!

Everyone should want that, but I say Vojtek, Ali, and Kappi get first dibs. (Seriously Vojtek a 15 ac?) Just rest here for a 5 minutes and I will have everyone healed. Don’t go to far away from me..
Didn’t we have a Centaur guide with us? Who had a bow?

Kappi Matarito |

Yes, Vojtek should get such protection.
The lad thinks about it for a moment. He is upset that his tanglefoot bags didn't work so well. He remembers that moment of triumph when he brought down the dragon with one. But perhaps that was simply the time for that and he couldn't expect it to work with all other flying monsters...
The Varisian lad adjusts his head scarf. He addresses their centaur guide, Are such flying creatures common? Do you think they have a nest nearby? I'd love to have at them while they are on the ground.

Vojtek Wartooth |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Vojtek looks upon the glittering ring and a flash of pure, unadulterated avarice sizzles through his reptilian heart. He grabs for it, even as his friends are magnanimously offering it to him. Without a thought, he pockets it and promptly casts his eyes about for more gold to add to his hoard.
The rage seeps out of his blood and he says to his knee in exhaustion, his chest heaving with the exertion of his fury.
Only after Kappi politely suggests the unarmored barbarian try the ring on does Vojtek do so.
thanks guys!

Davosh the Wanderer |

Davosh then turns to the guide, "Well, we had fun Erdij. What fuits did your excursion bear?"

GM thunderspirit |

To the right buyer it would be as valuable as a Large-sized masterwork composite bow.
Erdij is alarmed by the tale you tell of the kuchrimas. This is unusual. They roost many leagues from here, and in any case rarely come out during mid-day. This bodes ill.
After a few more moments of brooding, scanning the horizon and the cliff tops, he absently answers Davosh's question. We are more than halfway there, and the way is largely abandoned. On the ground, at least. He gives another scan to the sky, then looks back at the party. We can make it by early morning tomorrow, though we will need to camp overnight. We should keep an eye out for shelter as we go. I trust you've brought your bedrolls...?

Davosh the Wanderer |

"Indeed. We are ready. I hope tomorrow we also take a path not exactly as open as a Katapeshi bazaar."

Kappi Matarito |

"Indeed. We are ready. I hope tomorrow we also take a path not exactly as open as a Katapeshi bazaar."
Kappi completely misses the point of the Wanderer's remark.
The lad looks confused and shakes his head, The Katapeshi bazaar is actually really REALLY crowded. Not an open path at all. Some of my less scrupulous Varisians love the place as it makes for easy pickings if you know what I mean. But the lad takes the guide's remarks about shelter seriously. He keeps his eyes scanning for both shelter and the skies for enemies.
