Aristu taps his arcane source and creates holy light which lances across the room at the undead cyclops. Then, heeding Kern's advice, he moves onto the crumbling stair case to his left.

Well I think that as best as we can hope for.

Alister screams at the blood is sucked from his body. He grits his teeth and proclaims the end of the cyclops reign. "Your people are dead and gone, Vordakai! You're all alone!" The stones ring with his words, but they seem to die off.

Then the Baron weaves a complex spell to confound the lich's senses.

Lingering Performance: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (7) + 17 = 24
Good enough to success on an 8th level creature, but he's certainly higher than that.

◆ Dirge of Doom + Lingering Performance (failed, but the Dirge is still up for the round)
◆◆ Cast Syntheseia (Will DC 27)

So he should be frightened 1 and hopefully affected by the spell for at least a round unless he crit succeeds.

It’s hard to know what’s fair to Kern where he rerolled but did worse the second time. I think I must go with the more complete set of orders. Sorry, Kern.

Vordakai contemptuously ignores the steady stream of arrows, which either miss or bounce harmelessly off his hardened flesh. The god-king ducks to avoid Aristu’s flaming jet of holy power.

The lich bats Mikhail’s Civility aside with a dusty chuckle, but looks shocked as the warrior priest cuts him across the shoulder with his backswing. Nonetheless, Vordakai’s hardened hide permits it to shrug off the worst of the blow.

Vordakai Will save v. Synesthesia: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (6) + 24 = 30 Success.

Vordakai blinks and rears back at Alister's spell.

Totally fair ruling!
Given the severity of the fight, I hope some "table talk" is permitted. If Piotr doesn't summon a flanking partner for Mikhail, I think Kern flanking is going to be more beneficial than being an arrow turret. We need his AC lowered for the fighter to land some serious blows. I've got Warden's Boon to lower the MAP as well.
Thoughts?

Human Bard (Sorcerer) 10 [hp 128/128 | F+18, R+19, W+18 (+2 vs Sleep) | AC 28 | Perception +15 | Focus Points: 3/3]

If you're going to attack him, now's the time. He's clumsy 3, meaning his AC, reflex saves, and Dex Dcs are lowered by 3.

Wait, what? Why is he Clumsy at all? That's not what Synesthesia does.

Human Bard (Sorcerer) 10 [hp 128/128 | F+18, R+19, W+18 (+2 vs Sleep) | AC 28 | Perception +15 | Focus Points: 3/3]

Synesthesia:

The target's senses are suddenly rewired in unexpected ways, causing them to process noises as bursts of color, smells as sounds, and so on. This has three effects, and the target must attempt a Will save.
*Due to the distraction, the target must succeed at a DC 5 flat check each time it uses a concentrate action, or the action fails and is wasted.
*The target's difficulty processing visual input makes all creatures and objects concealed from it.
*The creature has trouble moving, making it clumsy 3 and giving it a –10-foot status penalty to its Speeds.

Success on the save means he suffers the effects for a single round

Piotr casts the spell to summon a dragon to do his fighting for him.

A flame drake appears and immediately frenzies to attack the undead.

Flame Drake gets a critical hit!

The fiery reptile appears, taking the cyclops god-king by surprise. It plunges its flaming fangs into Vordakai's neck, burning the long-dead tissue. The iron-hard flesh absorbs some of the blow.

Concentration check (DC 5): 1d20 ⇒ 3 Wow. That is huge.
Lich Touch v. drake, Frightened: 1d20 + 24 - 1 ⇒ (4) + 24 - 1 = 274d8 ⇒ (7, 5, 3, 7) = 22 negative damage plus paralyzing touch.
Concealment (DC 5): 1d20 ⇒ 2 You have got to be kidding me.

Roaring in anger, Vordakai tries to summon frost from the coldest corner of Abbadon, but can't seem to concentrate and its spell fails! It then lashes out at the flame drake, but blinks angrily and misses!

Human Bard (Sorcerer) 10 [hp 128/128 | F+18, R+19, W+18 (+2 vs Sleep) | AC 28 | Perception +15 | Focus Points: 3/3]

The Synesthesia goes away at the beginning of Alister's turn, so everyone should get one round of actions vs him being Clumsy 3. Also, Vordakai should be Frightened 1 from Alister's Dirge (unless he's immune, which would suck).

Alister simply laughs at the lich as he tries to attack the drake. The laughter echoes throughout the hall as a mockery of the cyclops' dying power. Then the younger Medvyed weaves another spell, bringing the weight of the hundreds of years since Vordakai had been alive onto him.

Lingering Performance (frightened): 1d20 + 17 - 1 ⇒ (15) + 17 - 1 = 31
That should do it. That would be success on a level 13 opponent.

◆ Dirge + Lingering Performance (success means the Dirge lasts 3 rounds)

Vordakai Fortitude v. Slow: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (5) + 22 = 27 Success. What is with these die rolls?

Vordakai's decrepit frame is no match for Aristu's powerful blasts of cold! The young nobleman's blast of freezing ice rips away the god-king's arcane defenses and, cracks its bones and punctures its leathery skin! Mikhail battles the monster toe to toe, cutting it across the thighs with Civility while Kernithar's arrow pierces the lich's chest.

Meanwhile, Baron Alister chants a war song that strikes uncertainty into the ancient, dead heart of Vordakai while also causing him to slow and ponder just a few moments.

The summoned drake is filled with terror at the sight of the lich.

I will move around behind it next round if I can. I did grab my sword though.

Mikhail, I suggest you hold your ground and attack and/or heal yourself - Aristu will provide flanking for you. And then Kern can continue to use Skybolt.

Aristu, are you setup to go melee with this guy? I assume Sorc are squishy.

We have to move around. We cannot stand there and get blasted by a cone attack as a group over and over again for 40ish damage a turn. If you move and he choses to just blast me and leave the rest of you alone that is fine. If he doesn't blast me then I will be ok for this turn and next turn I can get around behind him and do something. But I cannot possibly heal enough to counter what he is doing. If we don't move everyone is dead in a few turns regardless of how well we save. He could do that Cone for the next 10 turns straight for all we know. And we do not survive it if we stay in a nice cone shape.

Makes sense. Gotta spread out and 2e is pretty allowing of that with the 3 actions

Mikhail drops to the floor unconscious and dying, but Alister’s spell revives him almost immediately. Kern’s lone arrow strikes the lich squarely in its chest, but as before it does far less damage than to a living creature.

Aristu’s searing light spell is devastating, causing Vordakai to howl in rage and pain as the holy energies blast through him like a cannonball through a cow barn.

Flame Drake Attack of Opportunity: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 192d8 + 5 ⇒ (4, 4) + 5 = 13 ???
Vordakai Counterspell (DC 27): 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (11) + 26 = 37 ???

The spellcasters now realize that Vordakai is using his staff...likely a staff of fire... to counter Piotr’s fireballs. The lich effortlessly absorbs the wizard’s spell.

The badly injured flame drake scrabbles at the lich’s face but to no avail. Vordakai brushes its efforts aside.

Alister, the stream is easily crossed. Move where you'd like to be before Vordakai takes its turn.

Seeing Mikhail go one way, Alister heads the other way and takes some cover behind a stone altar(?). He weaves another sensory spell at the lich, hoping to confuse him again. Then he prepares a shield to help defend himself. He continues to laugh at the lich even as he is battered.

Alister, this is the same turn you cast Soothe. I was just giving you the chance to move as you wished. You don't get more spells to cast!

"Insolent whelps!" growls Vordakai. Then it shouts something in an unknown language and vanishes!

The spellcasters recognize this spell as dimension door.

Still in Encounter Mode (combat time). What do you do?

Human Bard (Sorcerer) 10 [hp 128/128 | F+18, R+19, W+18 (+2 vs Sleep) | AC 28 | Perception +15 | Focus Points: 3/3]

Oh, Gotcha. Alister moves to the stone altar.

Kerns nostrils flare like an animal sniffing for it's prey.
"Find him. He's weak and can't have gone far." Kern shouts as he strides up the stairs to his east and throws open the door.

Stride, Stride, Interact to open door.
I'm assuming it won't matter with Dimension door but Kern gets +2 to Seek or Track his Prey.

Kern reveals a sizable room. This octagonal chamber, which vaults to a twenty-foot-high ceiling, is composed of multiple slabs of opaque, white crystal fitted together to form a dome in the distinctive shape of an inverted eye, its gaze focused into the room below. This white crystal gleams with a subdued moonlike glow. The walls of the chamber are covered with arcane symbols, stylized line art, and images of cyclopes. A twenty-foot-diameter circle is incised into the stone of the floor directly beneath the great eye-shaped dome.

Kern has a queasy feeling as he gazes upon the room. Something feels very wrong there, and he hesitates to enter.

Piotr advances to accompany Kern. Once he is beside his companion and staring into the octagonal room, Piotr tries to understand the symbols inside.
