Eydor |

Eydor, seeing all the pounding the man is already getting, decides not to join in the fray for now, but approaches and gets ready to strike in case the man (Miraculously) survives the onslaught of the rest.
Move action: Move.
Standard action: Ready a two handed scimitar attack in case the man tries to do anything that doesn't resemble surrendering.
I don't even know why we are doing this. We're all going to get arrested or worse thanks to this child. Do they all think we can get away with murder?

GM Sphen |

Tsuto takes a hard blow to the stomach from Harness' flail, doubling him over from the impact. But he looks up, his eyes filled with resolve and a small smirk on his lips. My turn.
Eydor's Prepared Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Eydor's Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
But, before he can bring fury down upon Harness, Eydor cuts him down, some reservation in his eyes. Tsuto falls to the ground with a cry, unconscious.
Also, because I wasn't clear, the chanting around the corner only lasted for about 6 seconds.

GM Sphen |

Tsuto has been defeated and there is no sign of the other one, the lady with the cat, if you look around the corner. Most of the upstairs remains un-explored, and there are several rooms with closed doors down here.
What's the next step everyone? The discussion thread sounds like you all would like to have an in-character conversation. But remember, Tsuto's body is laying on the ground in front of you.

Cavenn the Black |

Cavenn moves forward swiftly as soon as he sees Eydor cut him down. With the chanting stopped, he kneels down and tries to stabilize the fallen half elf.
Heal check to stabilize Tsuto: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
However, he cannot stop the gaping wounds left by Eydor as they dampen with blood as quickly as he can apply pressure. "Damn it..." "Can someone stop this man from visiting Pharasma too soon please? We have alot left to do and he should be brought before the sheriff after we find out what is going on with Ameiko and her father." He will Aid Another if someone tries to stabilize Tsuto.
Aid Another Heal check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Once/if that is done, he says: "I feel like we need to discuss how we need to proceed before we do ANYTHING else."

Elery Deverin |

Elery moves forward and kneels down stabilizing Tsuto with practiced motions.
"Let's tie him up, but let us find Ameiko before I bring him to okay? We need to find her before we have any discussions."
Taking 10 on heal for 18 with Cavenn's aid.

Cavenn the Black |

to Cavenn - "Do you have qualms with our current procedure?" as he wipes blood off of his dagger.
"Other than what I've already stated, not really. We cannot rush into buildings, rooms or other areas with no heed to the possible danger we are leaving behind us. Felt to me like we were moving headlong into the unknown with no heed to the party's wishes or safety. I simply suggest we be more careful or we may pay the price in our own bloodshed."
Standing up, he readjusts his thick hide armor then kneels back down and searches Tsuto for valuables and information. Out of the side of his mouth, to no one in particular, he says "I don't have any rope."

Snyk |

Snyk sees Cavenns search for Tsutos valuables and whispers to Harness "I did not know we were in the company of thieves."
Snyk rummages through his pack and pulls out the silk rope he previously purchased, and hands it to Cavenn: "I expect its return or a fair compensation."
addressing the group expectantly:
"perhaps the... criteria ... of our mission could be clarified."

Eydor |

I think right now the... criteria, as you say it, is trying to keep this child alive while she rushes recklessly wherever she wants, whenever she wants.
He pauses for a second, cleaning the blood of his scimitar once more. He realizes that he's been wetting it way too much since starting his adventures. Maybe not too much, but the thought of almost killing a man with it in these circumstances didn't feel right on him.
He says ironically Ah, I forgot about the killing too. That seems to be on the agenda.

GM Sphen |

Tsuto's belongings:
Composite Shortbow
19 arrows
MW Theive's Tools
MW Flute
journal
10 platinum
Magic Items: ring, potion

Cavenn the Black |

As he goes through Tsuto's things, he looks at Snyk and holding up the well made Thieve's Tools, says "These may be of use to you, my friend."
Taking the rope from Snyk, he hog ties Tsuto and double checks it to make sure it will hold appropriately. He then reads the journal, aloud if there is anything interesting in it.
If noone else wants the shortbow, Cavenn will take it. He can't identify the ring or the potion.

GM Sphen |

This small, leather-bound booklet contains two dozen parchment pages, most of which Tsuto has filled with maps of Sandpoint or erotic drawings of a woman.
There are 3 different entries of particular note: Spoiler's for length.
It is clear now, the leaders of these raids is based out of Thistletop. The locals among you can tell the rest that Thistletop is a cliff named so because of a dense briar of thorns that grows at it's top. There is also a rock in the water that is carved to resemble a head that sailors use as a landmark, it stands several dozen feet tall and has old fortifications built on the top. It is also clear that another, and much larger, raid is coming. When is impossible to tell. Will it before or after Sheriff Hemlock returns with more men? Will even those men be enough? What will our adventures do? Find out next time!
But not really, we're still playing.

GM Sphen |

I know I said I'd post every day, but there's been no progress so far since my last post. Is everyone doing okay?

Tessa Faundral |

Knowledge Arcana: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
Well...poo
Pleased to see the others are at least willing to tend to the mans wounds, Tessa kneels down and begins mixing a new elixir. With a few nods as the group discusses their current concerns, she looks up at the mention of a journal and quickly peruses it.
"Well...seems we lucked out. Had it not been for this, we'd be behind bars for sure." looking to the others, she pauses a moment. "We should definitely show this to the sheriff soon...and if we are to steal from this man trapped by love, we should split the platinum as evenly as possible. None of us are innocent here."
Standing, she smiles. "Well, we already broke in and beat the owner unconscious....might as well check the rest of the place, right? I'm interested to see where these 'tunnels' he mentioned are."
As an aside, she waves her hand towards the earrings and assorted dust. "By the way, that's all worth about 80 gold rounds total."

Snyk |

"I will not be robbing this man. We still need to find the innkeeper."
Snyk searches the remaining basement rooms for tunnels and innkeepers.
perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

GM Sphen |

Luckily, this is the sort of perception check that you don't really need to roll for (and that you can't fumble skill checks).
You start at the closest room to you (A20) and find an empty office.
Opening A21 shows a storage room with all the crates shoved against the walls and the unconscious form of Ameiko laying on the floor. A quick check shows that she is unhurt, but not waking up (probably drugged).
A22 is more supplies. Mostly sand and dyes.
A23 shows an empty room with a tunnel leading to the East (presumably the smuggling tunnel as it is the only one you have found).
Let me know which room (if any) that you'd like to take a closer look at.

Cavenn the Black |

Cavenn begins reading the journal and stops almost immediately. "This..this..this cannot be! What madness is this!?!"
As he read further into the journal, the color drains from his face and a dazed look crosses over his black eyes. Looking at Tsuto, he stops reading for a long while, seems to regain some of his composure momentarily and says "If what is written in here is accurate, we should have no qualms about taking what is necessary from this dark place. Their is foul evil afoot and it seems that the raids were but the tip of the spear, a distraction even."
He then slides down to a sitting position against the wall next to Tsuto after sheathing his blade. He says quietly: "I just cannot fathom that which is in this journal. If only....I had...had..". He then begins staring off down the corridor, clutching his holy symbol into his right palm.
After a long while had passed, he sighs deeply. "Dark times. Dark times for Sandpoint indeed. The mother she-bear cradles her young close... but she does the same to her prey as well."

Eydor |

Kn:Arcana: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18 I'm applying the level 2 bonus I should have, I'll finish leveling up later, but I'm going to get a skillpoint in Kn:Arcana for sure
The ring seems to be a ring of protection. A weak version. The potion is for healing purposes.
After identifying the items, Eydor begins to read with Cavenn. Almost not believing what he's reading, he looks at the expression Cavenn makes, and lets him rest in silence the time he needs. He puts a hand on his shoulder
Good news is, we won't have to worry about what we did today. The bad news He pauses for a second Well, the bad news are that this whole story seems to have escalated a bit... Much. But we'll deal with it. We have time to plan ahead and act accordingly.
He then looks up in the direction of the corridor, where Snyk is exploring. He talks a bit louder, so Snyk can hear him properly Snyk? Did you call me over there? You need something?

Snyk |

Snyk looks back down the hallway with an eyebrow raised.
"The innkeeper seems unharmed, though possibly drugged. Also there is a secondary exit point."
That cat must have gone this way
Snyk looks down his nose disapprovingly at the distributing of the loot.
"Will the bowman live?"
If she is his next of kin then his possessions belong to her.

Harness |

Peering sideways at the journal, and listening to Cavenn and Eydor converse, Harness does not know why sketches of a woman in varying stages of undress should be so apocalyptically catastrophic. Sure that he will be informed when necessary the warforged politely shadows Eydor, making sure all party members are never alone.

GM Sphen |

Another whisper comes when you open the door. Eydor. Soft as a whisper, but still heard clearly to you.

Eydor |

He looks at Harness, a bit confused. Did you hear that? Someone's calling me
He peeks and continues cautiously to the corridor, not wanting to be too far from the group.

Harness |

"I heard nothing except you talking to me... Harness offers with a smile. For good measure Harness shakes out his heavy flail Marauder in readiness.

Tessa Faundral |

Giving a sideways look as she approaches the pair. "You know, it's not exactly healthy if you're hearing things..."

Cavenn the Black |

Standing again, Cavenn perks with concern about the sound that Eydor is hearing. He stuffs the journal into his pack, letting loose of the holy symbol that he was clutching in his hands. It slaps back to rest against the top of his hide armor. "I was hoping," he says, after clearing his throat, "to finish searching the upstairs first, but looks like we may have more pressing concerns. Elery, can you check on Ameiko? We need to get her out of here and try and find the father."
Turning to Eydor, he says quietly: "Do you recognize the voice?"

GM Sphen |

You do not recognize the voice, but it does not seem hostile.
I'll get a longer post up this evening once I've had some sleep.

GM Sphen |

Okay, I know I promised a longer post right about now. RL got in the way, and so is a lack of sleep. Please feel free to continue decision making and I'll post again tomorrow about it. And ask any direct questions you have about what you see it hear.

Snyk |

"Am i sick?" -Harness
Snyk climbs up Harnesses back to sit on his shoulder inspecting his warforged ears, nose and throat.
Heal Check: 1d20 ⇒ 3"It appears you have a clean bill of health, sir."
I actually have no way of knowing, but he does find confidence reassuring.
Snyk stays sitting on Harnesses broad shoulders watching intently to see what Eydor does next.

GM Sphen |

Ok folks, a bit of a recap since the long weekend was rather exhausting for me. Here is where we stand (and thank you everyone for your patience with me).
Tsuto is unconscious but stable in the downstairs after being beaten up.
Ameiko has been found, but is also unconscious (probably drugged).
The downstairs has been searched in a cursory fashion, mostly opening the doors and looking in. The upstairs has not been searched at all.
The door that leads to the tunnel was opened and Eydor started hearing a voice call out to him. He does not recognize it, but finds it non-threatening. Only he can hear it.
Harness is concerned that he is sick, Snyk has confirmed that he is not.
Cavenn is rather upset about the pictures and entries from the journal, but no follow up on that.
Tessa continues to be almost as social oblivious as Harness is.
Still no word from PlaceHolderOfDoom, will reach out with a PM today and see if I can contact him/her. May have to replace, but I sincerely hope not.

Tessa Faundral |

With a smile, Tessa diswade Harness' concerns. "No, you're fine. Since I'm actually speaking, it's ok to hear it. Its when you hear things that aren't there you should be worried...unless it's 'not there' because it's invisible...I mean when it's really not there."
Glancing down towards the alchemical supplies she carries, she frowns. "I think I have something for that though....uh....Trust me. You're fine. Robori told me so."
Looking towards Snyk, she winks. "So anyway...Eydor? What is it you're hearing? Perhaps it's a magical summons of some kind?"
Glancing back towards their unconscious friend, her frown deepens 'Or perhaps he too has a drug problem...' Forcing a smile back on her face she presses "Go ahead and share."

Eydor |

It is... A voice. As a whisper. It seems to be calling me, over and over, but I have no idea why He then looks back, in the direction of Ameiko and Tsuto, looking worried of leaving any of both behind, even if for a lot of different reasons.
I'm... Not sure we should go on, we can't leave both back there, can we? I could scout further ahead by myself, I could be safe as long as you are somewhat close, or we could first solve the problem with Ameiko and Tsuto.

Cavenn the Black |

Cavenn looks at Eydor with concern, then says: "May you should go and see what is calling, but you should take someone with you at least. And don't stray too far in case you need aid. I'm going to check on Ameiko's wounds. After we've figured out what the voice is, we can decide what to do next."
Cavenn goes to check on Ameiko to see how badly she is hurt and to try and determine why she is unconscious.
Heal check on Ameiko: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

Harness |

Harness smiles creakily. He nods to Snyk, reassured both by the deliberation provided and the comfort displayed by his little friend in climbing aboard.
"My thanks Tessa. Tell Robori I thank him...her...Who is Robori?" the warforged asks Tessa earnestly.
When Cavenn suggests Eydor takes someone for protection Harness nods again.
"Harness and Snyk are here!"

Tessa Faundral |

"Why Robori is just the bestest god that's ever touched me." beams Tessa. Pausing, her face scrunches up a bit. "Uh...that didn't come out right I don't think..."
With a quick shake of her head, she continues. "Anyway, he's the living god from The Wastes. He protects us all and gives me my godly power. I am His priestess and am preparing the world for his coming."
Turning to look directly into Harness' eyes, she smiles. "If you'd like, I'd be glad to tell you all about the glory of Robori. Even something such as yourself would be welcome in his flock. I mean, you can't choose how you're...born? after all."

GM Sphen |

@Cavenn, Ameiko has been drugged. If anyone has a healer's kit, you might (with a good enough Heal check) be able to get her out of it. Otherwise, she just needs some time. Or if someone has smelling salts, that would do it automatically.
@Eydor (or everyone, but mostly Eydor): Looking down the tunnel that you approached, it stretches on out of sight. Do you want to explore down there? Or wait until you've had a chance to check the rest of the building?

GM Sphen |

"now that's two of our allies claiming to hear voices"
snyk could have had bought smelling salts...
I'll allow it. Snyk kind of has this whole "Right tool for the job" thing going on. Especially with his cheek pouch trait. Smelling salts are officially on hand.

Eydor |

Sorry, having a rough day at work, I managed to get 5 mins to post now.
Eydor seems really intrigued by the voice and totally looks like he wants to search the origin, he turns back to the group.
We should first deal with what we have on hand. Ameiko probably needs some help, and we have to deal with this unconscious guy. Also, there's a lot of things we didn't check in the upper room, so we should also do that. Maybe we'll get more information about what is going on.

Cavenn the Black |

We should first deal with what we have on hand. Ameiko probably needs some help, and we have to deal with this unconscious guy. Also, there's a lot of things we didn't check in the upper room, so we should also do that. Maybe we'll get more information about what is going on.
"Sounds fine to me. We'll grab these two and explore the rest of the upstairs. Then we can come back down to sweep the basement and investigate that "voice" after we've got that buttoned up. We'll also need to consider taking Tsuto to the jail. As much as I'd like to bring him to justice in my own way, there is benefit in this particular situation in allowing the law to take its course."
Cavenn picks up Ameiko carefully and looks at the warforged fighter. "Harness, can you grab this man and bring him upstairs?"

Snyk |

snyk took Cornered Fury not cheek pouches but he does have Pack Rat
I may have just the thing
Snyk roots around in his pack for a moment and draws out a vial containing a small crystals. Smelling salts that he happened to have purchased earlier.
Daily use of Pack Rat: -25gp
Snyk scampers to Ameikos side and unstops the vial near her nose.
"she will likely require an explanation to her current situation.

GM Sphen |

As Cavenn leans down to start lifting up Tsuto, Ameiko comes to with a start, pushing the smelling salts away from her face and moving back from Snyk instinctively. What!? Where am I?.....Oh, it's you lot. Good. And.... When she sees Tsuto's body, she gets to her feet and stands over it, her face thoughtful. Then she rears back her foot and kicks him in the ribs, hard. Then she does it again, eliciting a groan from his unconscious body each time. Turning back to face you, she steadies herself with a hand against the wall and continues, Anyone want to tell me what is going on here? Are we beneath the glassworks?

Harness |

Harness nods, and after Ameiko's readjustemnet of her brother's physiology bends over, and after Snyk hops off, throws Tsuto unceremoniously over his shoulder.
"Yes. We are beneath the glassworks. A woman was here. And this man. Your brother. There were goblins throwing things upstairs. We.... pasted them..." the warforged explains helpfully...
