GM Silbeg |
You easily can find the location of the nearest morgue.
Steev also had a suggestion where you could find a body. (happens to be the same one I used when I played this!)
You will need to use a different skill for each check in a category, but you can use the same skill once in each category!
In order to file a false report, you will actually need ranks in profession of a funerary, medical, or security field
Summing up:
Faked Death:
Idea to find a body
New Identity:
Raia: New identity papers (computers)
Keep the ideas coming, guys!
check your skills for things that could be used... there are obvious ones, like disguise!
Aegis-9 |
Aegis-9 has qualms about aiding in the commission of a fraud, but does not wish harm to come to innocent people.
Depending upon the proposed "cause of death", the android has medical training that may allow him to identify a substance that could mimic death, but not harm those who ingest it. His knowledge in piloting may also aid in staging a believable vehicular accident or, develop a false trail as Patterson suggested.
He could also be convinced to edit a false obituary for the two and, as he proposed earlier, help one or both find legitimate employment through his profession as a writer. And, once new identities have been created, he also has training in the art of disguise.
GM Silbeg |
Aegis-9, for sure you should make your disguise check to give Ceren a "new look", and you could make a profession writer check to pull some strings to find her employment. Great ideas!
Once you have a corpse, you could use medicine or disguise to make the corpse look like Ceren
Note that from what Ceren has told you, leaving a false trail won't help... she was sure that nothing but her death would stop them
“Fixit” Fidorius Nyxit |
Just to make sure I'm understanding everything corrrectly...
To fake her death it looks like we can use Disguise to alter a body to appear to be Ceren or alternatively we can use Computers to alter Cerens electronic records to match whatever body we come up with?
Fixit can probably do that without any issues.
With regards to the new identity...it looks like Raia's computer check was relevant based on the fact it's written in black.
If we can disguise the body to look like her, could we also give her an actual disguise to look like someone else(with Disguise, probably from Aegis-9 since it's trained) or perhaps convince people to take her in? (maybe with Bluff or Diplomacy? again, probably Aegis-9 since -> Envoy)
Steev'Irwin |
Steev', thinking we're going to need a corpse, heads down to the Ysoki corpsegarden he found in the SFS Quests and asks his new friends if they have a body that is close to Ceren's description.
GM Silbeg |
"Well, we may, or we may not," says one of the Ysoki. "You know, we've been paid to make certain things... disappear. Giving you one of those... things... would put us at risk. Why should we give you one?"
Raia - Technomancer Iconic |
Telepathically she says with some anger in her mental communication to the group "I did not even say something when we had to create a false identity and I did not say anything when we tried to change official papers but this is really going to far! We are NOT buying a dead body from a dubious Ysoki!"
Steev'Irwin |
"Well mates, you know I took care of the ghoul and her minions, right? I already did you a solid, now I need one from you." Steev' tells them.
GM Silbeg |
Make me a check, Steev. Or...
Aegis 9 SM: 1d20 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (15) + 2 + (1) = 18
Darqen SM: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (19) + 0 = 19
Patterson SM: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (8) + 0 = 8
Steev SM: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (7) + 0 = 7
Fixit SM: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (18) + 0 = 18
Twitch SM: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (5) + 0 = 5
You notice the Ysoki giving a little indication with his fingers, like he wants money.
Raia - Technomancer Iconic |
Again Raia signals telepathically "Okay, that's it ... now he wants to be bribed to give us a corpse that deserves a burial! No, I am out of here and will wait outside!"
With that Raia stomps out and waits in front of the door.
Steev'Irwin |
"Oh, you want money! How about 50 credits?" Steev' hears Raia's mental tantrum and finally gets the point.
Diplomacy: 1d20 ⇒ 11
GM Silbeg |
The Ysoki rolls his eyes, and accept the 50 credits in exchange for a female human's body. "We never saw each other, right?" he says... in a tone that doesn't sound like he is really asking.
Aegis-9 |
"I can alter your appearance if you fear nefarious persons are looking for you." Aegis-9 offers to Ceren and Jubair. "However, please understand that should Station Security come seeking individuals with your actual description, that I will tell them what information I know."
Disguise: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
“Fixit” Fidorius Nyxit |
With an appropriate body in hand, Fixit alters the electronic records of Ceren to match.
Computers (T10): 10 + 13 = 23
@GM, Do we need more ideas?
Patterson LXII |
"Say, shouldn't you make sure that this body has the right implants? Or at least signs that she's been within sight of a computer once or twice in her life? I'm no expert in such things, but it seems to me that you boffins should be able to make it look like she's a hacker."
Aegis-9 |
Aegis-9 gives a nod and puts down his comlink. ”I just finished speaking with my literary agent.” the android explains to Ceren and Jubair. “She agreed to help you secure work in the publishing industry, if you would have it.”
Profession (writer): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Placing the comlink back up to his audio receptor, he notes, "She has me on hold. This may take a while."
GM Silbeg |
Tell me when you've done all you can, but you think you can still do more.
Note: Anyone with a profession skill can set her up! Steev?
If you can't get her a job, maybe you can put her in contact with folks who can?
Faked Death:
- Altered medical records
- Body
New Identity
- New papers
- New look
Aegis-9 |
Although reluctant to alter a corpse, particularly when it is part of a deception, Aegis-9 nevertheless concedes that his skills are likely necessary to ensure that the old woman and her young charge are kept safe. Thus, he willingly attempts to alter the dead in an effort to save the living. He attempts a series of modifications, both on an asthetic level and, in effort to avoid closer scrutiny, an anatomical level.
Disguise check to alter corpse to look like Ceren: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Medicine check to alter corpse to pass as Ceren's body: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Finally, in an effort to help the two impending fugitives find work, the
android uses his expertise to speak with potential employers for the two and, perhaps even give them a crash course in people skills, including how to write a convincing resume, how to respond to difficult interview questions, and how to handle inter-office politics
Diplomacy to help secure employment: 1d20 + 6 + 1d6 ⇒ (8) + 6 + (4) = 18
Sense Motive to help with job negotiations and to identify those suspicious of their true identities: 1d20 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (13) + 2 + (3) = 18
That's all I could come up with, so I think I've done all I can.
Steev'Irwin |
Steev's super excited to have a body and hauls it back to the apartment with the pride of a teen with his first car. Hearing that they're looking to set Ceren up with a new job, he gives his buddy at the vidcast channel a call. Profession Vid Caster: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Later he watches Aegis-9 work his magic on the corpse and grins widely. "Crikey! You are a master at corpse work! I bet we could build a reality Vidcast show 'round that!"
Raia - Technomancer Iconic |
"This was really disgusting Steev'Irwin and Aegis-9! A show about a corpse? No!' Raia says and shakes her head.
Patterson LXII |
Only using Medicine and Engineering to come up with appropriate implants for the body--or damage that makes it look as though they'd been removed by thieves.
Aegis-9 |
Aegis-9 looks at Raia rather apologetically. "I will do what is necessary to preserve the living. Freedom is the right of all sentient beings. As the former inhabitant of this shell is now with Pharasma, or has otherwise moved on, I thought acceptable."
"As for Steev's recommendation for new programing, I must admit that such a show does not sound like appointment viewing to me. But then again, the last reality show that I watched was actually hosted by a corpse. So who am I to say what qualifies for entertainment for the masses?"
Steev'Irwin |
Steev' shrugs, unconcerned by the criticism. "There's a lot of air time to fill, after all! I bet it'd play on Eox!" Steev' continues to help Aegis-9 finish the body work, then looks around at the apartment. "Y'know, I bet a small fire would work wonders 'ere! Crikey, an old lady falls, her tea burns and starts a little blaze, sad times for everyone, eh? Body burned, only dental records t'identify 'er? Can you change online dental records, anyone?"
GM Silbeg |
You think, now, that you are probably good, as...
Aegis-9 is able to contact some folks, who are willing to offer Ceren a new job.
You are probably ready to meet with Ceren and Jubair at the park?
Aegis-9 |
"I believe I have secured legitimate employment for our anticipated fugitive." Aegis-9 says. "Let us go and share with her the good news."
Ready to move on to meeting.
Raia - Technomancer Iconic |
"Yes, let us meet Ceren. I have to admit that I am quite impressed with you guys ... finding a job for her was a really good move." Raia says smiling.
Aegis-9 |
"Yes, let us meet Ceren. I have to admit that I am quite impressed with you guys ... finding a job for her was a really good move." Raia says smiling.
Aegis-9's facial actuators activate until they conform to the shape of a return smile. "Your kind words and encouragement are appreciated, Raia. Particularly, as I know that you had some... reservations... about our chosen methods."
Steev'Irwin |
Steev' is still a little worried that the altered body is being left without any effort to smudge it up a bit, or to alter the dental records, which could give the whole thing away. "Can summa you with computer skills help me modify the dental records for Ceren?"
Aegis-9 |
Aegis-9 downloads a map to the meeting place from the infosphere, hoping that he gets there on time.
GM Silbeg |
Order yourselves in the red box, please.
Open to all citizens, Jatembe Park occupies a wide portion of the Eye of Absalom Station. Filled with lush trees and open grass fields, the park offers some natural terrain to the otherwise metalclad station. Ceren’s meeting point is one such forested portion of the park, specifically a spot often ignored by citizens due to the winding path required to reach it.
You see the two, peacefully standing on the bridge
Patterson LXII |
"Charming little place for an ambush, hey?" The human checks the charge indicator on his artillery laser before continuing forward. He keeps ahead and to the right of the bulk of the party, trying to keep his firing and movement lanes open.
Placed.
Raia - Technomancer Iconic |
Sorry, am remote at the moment. Can you place her in the middle of everybody please.
Aegis-9 |
I couldn't get the map link to work for some reason. I am fine with Aegis-9 being in front.
Aegis-9 is pleased to see Ceren and Jubair on the bridge and eager to share with them the information about their new lives. "It is good to see you two, and to see that you are safe." The android calls out to them. "I am pleased to report that we have good news for the both of you."
GM Valen |
"Charming little place for an ambush, hey?" The human checks the charge indicator on his artillery laser before continuing forward.
"Indeed, Patterson." Aegis-9 confirms, "It is always wise to remain on alert when trying to protect others, both for their sake and for yours."
Placed Aegis-9 in red area and placed Raia between Steev and Fix-It.
GM Silbeg |
"Charming little place for an ambush, hey?"
At this, time, three gangers poke their heads out from the treeline. "Ceren! We know it was you! You are to come with us!" one shouts.
GM Silbeg |
[b]"Ain't none of yer bidness. Dis is corprit bidnesss, see, and you don' wan' enny of it, see?"[/b[ says pink, waving his pistol in the direction of Patterson.
If you are trying to get them to stand down, I'll need an interactive skill check.
Aegis 9 SM: 1d20 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (18) + 2 + (4) = 24
Darqen SM: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (1) + 0 = 1
Patterson SM: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (20) + 0 = 20
Steev SM: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (5) + 0 = 5
Fixit SM: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (9) + 0 = 9
You don't think that talking nice is going to help her. They look too determined. This may take some harsh words, or "aggressive diplomacy"
Patterson LXII |
"You know, they say size doesn't matter, but do you really think that little lasgun's got the firepower of this bad boy?" He pats the artillery laser he holds.
Attempting to Intimidate.
ETA:
Intimidate check: 1d20 ⇒ 7
Aegis-9 |
Concluding that his imposing form likely makes him the most intimidating of the party, Aegis-9 tries to get the men to back away. "I believe that it is you, who have no business here." The android draws his pulsecastor pistol and tries to flex his actuators for effect, "No be gone or you will regret it!"
Intimidate: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Generally preferring diplomacy to such tactics, the android hopes that he was nevertheless convincing.
GM Silbeg |
Ignoring Ceren (intimidate check, Patterson?), the gangers move forward towards Ceren, who collapses to the ground in tears.
"This ain't nun of yer bidness, Tin-head. Jus' turn 'round an' leave, and you ain't a gunna get hurt."
