Just a little more walking; I figure that, if I were a magical Nazi spy, the first place I'd bug to make sure no-one's caught me would be the Police dispatch. I don't want a record that we were sniffing around the scene of the crime.

-IRA is showing interest in us, likely out of a general concern rather than actual guilt.

I don't like the IRA for these crimes, I don't feel like it fits their MO. We might be able to assume Nazis but blindly following that could be disastrous. The churches get a mention mostly to remind us they are there and likely enjoying a bit of conflict. As for the cultists... well, they're like roaches, always cropping up where you don't want them.

Currently, our big source of potential information is the IRA meeting. We should check on at least one other victim's corpse to confirm the use of magic as a murder weapon for more than one victim.

In this time frame, wing suits are not yet effective. Parachutes, as well, only work when jumping from a sufficient height, such as an airplane or a very high tower, they would be useless for standard buildings.

As far as I understand, parachutes require a minimum speed to properly deploy. Jumping from top of a building, unless it's sufficiently high, would not be enough to allow it to open. If so, you'd likely end up with broken legs and a half-open parachute on top of you.

Parachutes don't unfold instantly, like imagine those little green army guys, if you dropped one from two feet off the ground it wouldn't deploy. Now Feather Fall could do the trick nicely, but I don't know Feather Fall. That does give me an idea, though.

You could manually deploy the parachute behind you and just lie it on the ground on the roof, but that could complicate things if they came up through the roof door

So base jumpers get 100+ft as safe with quick unfolding parachutes... but with an already unfolded chute...

And that's in 2017, not 1942. BASE jumping wasn't even invented until 1978! Parachute is not happening.

That's probably with a ram-air chute specifically, which were not around in the 40s. According to Wikipedia the earliest modern BASE jump was in 1972 and before that the shortest successful jump in what would become the BASE tradition was a height of about 173ft. On top of that, having the chute unfolded already will make a marginal difference at best. Letting the chute unfold is a fraction of the time needed to slow descent to safe landing level. Having it already unfolded without some kind of bulky and clever rig set up also heavily increases your chances of getting it tangled or caught.

We're also dealing with 40s buildings here. Pictures of Belfast in the period show buildings mostly topping out at 4 stories, so the suitable rooftops near the meeting will be about 40-50ft up at the most which I highly doubt is far enough to safely parachute.

I could sit down and apply my admittedly limited physics knowledge to the problem but everything I've seen so far indicates that this idea, while cool and very Bond, will most likely end up with you breaking only your legs if you're lucky. The Snapleaf should do you nicely or we can set you up with a rappelling rig.

I think so. Our infiltration of the IRA meeting should not take all day, and I'd like to bring Pierce along to examine the bodies. During the infiltration, I'll also take a position near the building to provide aid in extracting our agents if things go south. I'm the only one with easy access to nonlethal ranged attacks and I was serious about not wanting to kill any of the IRA if possible. They are not the enemy Shrike is here to fight.
