He wonders if conjuring a missile of acid can even hurt such a creature.

The skeletons advance as the party prepares for battle and when they are in range divine energies wash over them form Kagyu.

Skeleton Green: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Skeleton Blue: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
The red skeleton is damaged badly while the others appear less harmed by the energies.
Losjien (even with a bad roll) knows that acid will hurt them though slashing and piercing weapons will do very little.

The second channel takes care of the skeletons.
The skeletons each wear a chain shirt and carry rusty weapons. A search of the boat comes up with very little except a chest that was once of fine quality but water and time has destroyed its worth. In the chest is cushion that clearly once held a katana but the weapon is gone.
Head to the cave? Look around? How many channels do you have left Kagyu?
Miyagi-san |
As the undead turned to dust before he touched them, he felt both relief and disappointment. After, he looked back at the nameplate. "Kaijitsu's Blossom... Curious name for ship, no?"
Kagyu Mamoru |
4/6 channels remaining. I just updated it in my spell tracker.
Kagyu straightens and looks at each pile of bones in turn.
"I noticed the last time we fought these skeletons, their tether to this plane was tenuous. I thought it best to dispatch them quickly, at a distance, than contend with their rotted blades."
Having said this he walks over to where Miyagi is looking.

Losjien shields his eye's as Kagyu burts the skeletons to bits. The Acid orbs shrink back to his palms and h feels the energy return to him.
He nods to the group, smiles and then immediately heads to the ship. He begins climbing on the worn planks trying to get a better view.
"We've made it this far might as well spot for more trouble."

This ship would have most likely been a trading vessel coming to Sandpoint. Like its sister ship you already found it would have been put here by a storm The presence of what were once well armored guards is surprising.
Kagyu Mamoru |
Looking at the katana shaped depression in the empty box in the boat, Kagyu called out to Gortrek,
"Any interest in this missing sword? My bet is it's the one the goblin we captured mentioned was in the cave. "

As the skeletons crumbled, Gortrek sheathed his weapon. He stepped forward to take a look at what Miyagi pointed out.
"This is... strange. This is a trading vessel. But the skeletons are far too well armed for such a thing. And the Kaijitsu name simply further complicates things..."
Any thought of the missing katana quickly brought the same conclusion. "If this is indeed the ship that brought this sword, then by rights, it belongs to Ameiko. We should find it and return it."

L. Brinestump Caverns
A fifty-foot-high cliff rises along the marsh’s southern border, its face a thick tangle of jutting rocks and bright green vines and nettles. A curtain of these thick nettle vines partially conceals a cave opening at the base of the cliff.
The rough walls of the cave are damp with water seeping through the limestone that meet a smooth earthen floor. To the west is a passageway, roughly five foot wide, probably cut by past waterflow. To the east the room continues, half of which contains a pool of water that fills the width of the room.

Making his way inside, Miyagi sighed in relief as he got out of the sun. After wiping his brow, he cracked his knuckles and took a few steps inside.
"Should be alert. Don't know when goblins jump out at us." He said in a hushed voice as he looked around for signs of their presence.

None of the group sees or hears any movement and if there is any magic it is outside of the area that Losjien can see.
The cave is dark and will get darker as you move in. Some of you may need a light source but at the moment it is just low light. It will be dark when you move in.
After a moment you can here the drip of condensation, that is it.
There are two paths, one leads into a narrower dark passage the other leads to a wider area and possible a pool of water.
Kagyu Mamoru |
Sensing nothing, Kagyu makes a decision after a moments thought.
"Let's follow the path with the water first. If goblins are camped in here, they might want to be closer to a water source"

Gortrek the Honorable |
Despite his orcish blood, a life above ground had left Gortrek devoid of darkvision.
"Before we enter, we should prepare a source of light. I have torches and a flint and steel if necessary."
Losjien Hallow |
Losjien whispers to Gortrek "A torch will be great" He kneels down and scoops a hand through the water at the mouth of the cave. Peering into the water he hopes to gain some insight as the group chooses a path.
Knowledge Nature: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Is there life in it? Is it safe to drink? Perhaps there is a current.
GM Red Box |
The water is filtering in from the cliffs above, through the rocks. It is clear and fresh and if it goes anywhere from here it is slow and probably down. There is no life that can be seen, not even algae.
The water here is 3 feet deep at its deepest point, but the rock loor beneath the water is slippery. Crossing the pool or wading in it requires a DC 14 Acrobatics check to avoid falling prone. This would be particularly bad for the torch bearer.
Continue this direction?
Miyagi-san |
Peering down the pathway, the monk managed to see the water filled path as clearly as he saw the outside of the cave.
"Wise plan, Gortrek-san. I see left path clearly, but best for all of us to." The monk commented as he took a peak down their potential path. "Can cross waters or go down narrow path. Interesting to see if one could go without slipping on rocks."
Losjien Hallow |
"We should avoid the waters, wouldent want Sir Torch to slip"
Losjien nudges Gortrk's shoulder.
Kagyu Mamoru |
Kagyu, in his scale armor and heavy shield, did not like his chances of wading through a slime covered stream bed.
Once Gortrek had his torch prepared, Kagyu led the way down the left tunnel, keeping to the narrow path.

The passageway curves so it is once again heading south but does not extend very far before opening into a larger room. You can faintly hear a SOUND ahead. As the path opens up you see the corpse of what looks like a giant lizard over the top of which comes a blood covered Giant Spider.
This cavern is the den of a giant wolf spider—the hairy, red-backed creature is busy feeding on the carcass of a giant gecko it dragged back into the cave. As the party did not attempt to be quiet it hears you and it immediately leaps to attack the source of the interruption of its meal.

L5. Cavern of Shame (CR 3):
You can see that this is the largest cavern you have been into so far. Four skeletons lie on the ground. Kagyu and Losjien also see two laying in shallow water. The skeletons wear an unusual armor but appear to be nothing more then normal skeletons. There is another passageway leading out of this room on the west end of the room.
The armor is a Tian style.
Gortrek the Honorable |
It was difficult, but with a bit of work, Gortrek was able to clean and resheath his blade one handed as Miyagi made his offer. Gortrek shook his head.
"I am the one who requires the light. I shall be the one to carry it. I will not foist my burdens on others."
As they entered the next cavern, Gortrek placed his free hand on his blade again. "Be prepared. There is a chance these entities are not as inanimate as they look."

"Be prepared. There is a chance these entities are not as inanimate as they look."
"After last couple bones we see, would not not doubt it." He replied as he stepped around the bones as much as possible. "Should we take care of them?"
GM Red Box |
The bones continue to lay around like... well... piles of bones.

"We could get rid of them like this" Losjien kicks through a pile of bones. Some of them splashing into the water.
He continues further into the cave towards the west end of the room.
