"Proudstump, thank you for your hospitality, and this CLOAK!"
Losjien places his hands on the cloak while it is still in Kagyu's arms.
"I sense it may be more than a mere cloak. If we could stay for a few hours it could be determined. After all I expect we will be outnumbered three to one by goblins...with explosives. It may be of great assistance."
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
uh ohh, might have to wait another week for that cloak

![]() |

Gortrek shook his head. "We don't have a few hours to sit around and wait. Give it to me. I'll wear it into battle. That will be all the test we need."

Miyagi-san |

"I have also hear a rumor of some undead about. Skeletons and worse in Tian insipred armor. I think there may be a connection to the goblins being more active."
"Can confirm undead sightings. If goblins cause of stirring dead, then more of a threat than first thought." He sighed as he cracked his knuckles. "Perhaps tea can wait for after we squish little green troublemakers."

Kagyu Mamoru |

"It would be impolite to so quickly give up a gift so freely given," Kagyu says as he looks down at the cloak in his arms. He swings it around his shoulders before continuing.
"As the Sheriff said, it's been three days since the last group of people attempted to deal with the goblins. While I doubt a few hours further delay would affect much, I agree that we should continue with our original goal before pursuing other actions, as preferable as they may be. " Kagyu directs this last comment at Walthus with a nod and a smile.

GM Red Box |

Losjien examines the cloak, it is clearly magical but he cannot quite put his finger on it. I will allow another roll after a nights rest.
"Yes, yes. If there are undead about again things should not wait. It has been years since their kind stirred in the swamps."
The halfling shakes his head.
"I wish you luck in your quest. I have a lot of repairing to do on my home and myself but I will be here if you need a place to stay."

![]() |

"We should head south now and pressure these goblins...perhaps scathe a chunk of flesh." Losjien shows off his gross smelling orb again, holding it out as if to impress Proudstump.
"We should stay close though. If things get..hairy, we can come here quickly. Safer than setting a camp. After all it's getting late." We still have time to head south a bit right?

GM Red Box |

Since it has been more then a day I am assuming you are going to go with Losjien's plan and yes there is time it is mid-day at this point.
What I would like someone to do is either give me the squares you are headed to and passing though. I do not want to railroad or make assumptions.

Kagyu Mamoru |

Kagyu looks to Gortrek, defering to him where to head

![]() |

As the directions take us south east, with more south than east, I say we head for square C4 by way of C3. Only the finest explosives. Unless someone has a different location they'd prefer.

GM Red Box |

The group travels south though a swamp that clearly has seen little of civilized life during its existence. The bugs are a constant nuisance and at one point you hear something large move behind you but it is going the other direction.
After crossing a wide but shallow stream, wet to the bone and sure you will have at least a rash you spot something off to the east.
A filthy village-fort surrounded by a crude wooden palisade sits atop a low hummock of solid ground here. A wooden gate in the north wall of the palisade lies in shambles on the ground. Nearby, a large, algae-filled pool on the northeastern side breaks the palisade and allows a clearer view into the village’s interior, which consists of a collection of ramshackle huts connected by wooden walkways, all built on thick wooden stilts.
The area looks as though there was a battle. The town looks, in a word, devastated but of course goblins have been living there.
You are outside a gate on the north side of the village , in the woods, and have not been seen. The most unusual thing is that the gates have been knocked down outward. To the east of the smashed gate is a fetid algae filled pool of water. These are the only visible breaks in the palisade.
The town feels deserted, errie. You would swear the constant sound of small animals has suddenly stopped as you approached which may be due to the overwhelming stench of waste and decay. Some of this is most certainly due to the bodies you can see lying in the river. They appear to be smaller than a human, probably goblins.
Tatical map updated. You are off to the north west of the village about 50 yards off the map. There is room to move around the map as well.

![]() |

As Gortrek approached the village, he wrinkled his nose at the smell.
"Well... there is a small chance we are fortunate and the goblins have blown themselves up. But something tells me we aren't that fortunate. Something else was here."
Gortrek begins to make his way towards the smashed open gates.

![]() |

Losjien follows Gortrek through the breach, the stench does not bother him and he is familiar with the smell of decay. It is the silence of the animals that is most concerning. "I'm not sure if goblins did this. What have we here?"
Losjien walks slowly to the water being sure to keep the palisades to his back. He peers out at the fetid water and tries to tell how long the creatures have been dead and what may have caused it.
Knowledge Nature: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
I figure knowledge nature can answer questions about decaying things, if that's too out there subtract my modifier :)
There seems to be thick haze over the water preventing him from gathering much info.

GM Red Box |

Get all your tokens where you want to be when you first enter the village.

Kagyu Mamoru |

As Kagyu steps through the blown-out gate, he draws his needle spear and looks for any signs of movement.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20

GM Red Box |

Miyagi-san's enterance should not effect this part so I will move forward.
Coming though the gate, as quietly as you can, the area does not appear to be occupied though there was a fire in the open area not to long ago. The sent of smoke is there but not visible.
There is a quiet, different from being vacant but more like something that doesn't want to be seen.
The buildings are raised out of the swampy ground, connected by aged walkways. To the left and the right stairs lead up to doors into small buildings. Further to the left, party left is an area where a building as collapsed.

Kagyu Mamoru |

Kagyu strains his ears for any movement. He walks over to the fire and prods at the debris checking for firework remnants. He tries to guess how long ago the fire was abandoned.
Survival: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
yup...looks like there might have been a fire here.

Miyagi-san |

Miyagi took in the atmosphere of the seemingly abandoned village. It was too quiet around. Far too quiet for noisy and boisterous goblins. "Something not feel right about this. Expect goblins... not emptiness." the monk said aloud as he carefully looked for traces of the goblins.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25

GM Red Box |

Kagyu confirms that there had been a fire there recently though he is a little unclear as to where it was located.
Miyagi-san is more in control of the situation assessing the village and the destruction of the gates. Looking around you notice there there are indeed several gobin bodies laying in the lake and one laying under a building. You also notice two piles of broken bones in the water along with Tian style armor. These skeletons are clearly similar to the ones dispatched at the second bridge.
You also hear movement in one of the buildings in front of you and what sounds like a goblin attempting to whisper.
I am surprised that I have not been able to find any pictures of dead goblins.

![]() |

Losjien looks around suspiciously and walks quietly to a more centralized area. He whispers to the group as he walks slightly ahead of them.
"somthing may verywell be here after all"
His pupils sink into his eyes until they are a solid green-white. Losjien opens his hands against his side palms facing upwards.
Detect Magic: 60ft

GM Red Box |

Even taking your time you find nothing of a magical nature.

Miyagi-san |

While he observed the bodies, the older monk's ears perked up when he heard what could be described as a whisper coming from a building in front of him. "Goblins attacked by skeletons... and ears say some still here hiding in homes." He says in a low voice for the group to hear.

![]() |

Gortrek looked towards the building Miyagi had mentioned. He turned to the others.
"So, what do you we should do? Attempt to sneak up on the hidden creature, or attempt to parley?"

![]() |

Gortrek nodded before placing a hand to his chin. "While your logic is sound, this creature may be the only one knowledgeable about whatever happened here. If we're going to sneak up on it, I would recommend we attempt to capture it alive first, that we may garner a better idea of what has happened here. Whatever caused this destruction could conceivably be a worse threat to Sandpoint than the goblins themselves."

Kagyu Mamoru |

"Or it could have been some explosive fireworks, " Kagyu countered. "But if you think you can subdue one of the goblins, I'll back your plan for as long as we remain relatively uninjured."
I'm not about to risk any of us for the word of a goblin.

![]() |

Losjien's pupil's return to their normal size and color. Feeling confident at the absence of magic he takes another step closer to the village. "There will be no parley Gortrek. Beings with explosives tend to not"
Losjien holds one hand behind his cloak and the other conjures the green orb he likes showing off.

GM Red Box |

Nothing much for me to add until a path is set. If there are indeed goblins they do not seem to be inclined to come out and greet you at present.

Kagyu Mamoru |

Kagyu watches Gortrek and Losjien at opposite sides, waiting to see which plan will prevail.

![]() |

Losjien's pupil's return to their normal size and color. Feeling confident at the absence of magic he takes another step closer to the village. "There will be no parley Gortrek. Beings with explosives tend to not"
"No parley, then. But I must insist we attempt to capture the creature alive. We can then interrogate them, and learn of what has happened."
Gortrek pointed to the skeletons clad in Tian armor. "It is clear the goblins are not the only threat present. To charge forth without information is a fool's errand."

![]() |

"We should inspect this hovel with care. Taking a squirming goblin alive will be no easy task."
Losjien continues his treck cautiously into the hovel.

Kagyu Mamoru |

Kagyu turns to Gortrek, "Lead the way. I'll be right behind you." Kagyu places his hand on Gortrek's shoulder and grins slyly, "Good luck. "
Kagyu grants Bit of Luck to Gortrek

GM Red Box |

Ok I am making the call that the group was heading this way. Do not worry about committing the group at times folks, if things go for a while without an action just make the choice and go for it. In PbP there is a fine line between slow play and people lost interest.
Going threw the door you coming into a small room that smells like nothing quite so much as pig offal. The room is small and it would be a stretch for all of you to fit comfortable in the room.
In the room there is nothing but a few rags and an old make shift spear covered in rust and filth.
There is a slight sound of movement to the south east (east door) but you are sure there is more then the one wall between you and the sound.

Miyagi-san |

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14 [ooc]S*@$... just a bit short of the spoiler tab.[/dice]
As he entered the hovel, Miyagi had a bit of difficultly squeezing in with the others so close to him. While he also tried to hear out the goblins, the movement of the others was interfering a bit. "None in here..." the monk said in a hushed voice for his comrades to hear.

![]() |

Losjien lets the others pass as he scopes the room carefully. Losjien has Low Light Vision as well
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Even with his creepy looking pupils there are too many people in the room for him to notice anything particularly interesting.

![]() |

Losjien seems bored with this first room and squeezes past the party into the next. On his way he grasps Gortreks samurai sword for support. "'scuse me Sir Honorable."
The sword has a faint green glow after Losjen's touch.

Kagyu Mamoru |

Perception : 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Kagyu's eyes adjust as he steps inside and moves after Losjien.
Better make sure he doesn't get caught isolated. That's the trouble with casters. Head in the clouds. You never can tell what they'll accidentally set off.

GM Red Box |

The impetuous and inexperienced sorcerer throws open the door (based on the map) and a howl of anger immediately answers the action. The reak of pig offal is stronger out behind the building and you can see a collapsed pig sty off to the east.

It wasn't difficult to see the agitation in Gortrek's face as someone touched his sword. Magic or no magic, one did not lightly lay hand upon his most trusted weapon. But before he could air his grievances, the door was opened, and the shrieks of goblins could be heard.
"Keep one alive! Kill the rest!" he shouted before moving in. He pulled out his blade as he ran, and brought it down upon the first goblin he encountered.

Must not have hit Submit Post last night. Normally I let all the actions that are up happen before summarize so that it can be done in order, that said....
Gortrek the Honorable pushes past his cohorts, blade high, and advanced on the goblins. The lead goblin's eyes briefly grew wide and you could see it's naked fear as the blade comes down splitting the creature nearly in half.
Its body falls in two directions, part left, part right but its internal organs fall straight down in a wet, messy pile.
Bold may act.

Kagyu Mamoru |

Kagyu wasted little time after Gortrek's impressive slash.
That certainly took more than a bit of luck!
He moved to get his shield in front of the goblins and lashed out with his spear.
Move and basic attack
Spear melee: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4

Miyagi-san |

With conflict starting, Miyagi knew that the confines of a the building would do more to hinder him at this point than help him. "Too closed for me to fight here. Going around!" He warns his comrades as he dashes out the door to find a position to engage the goblins properly at.
Move Action: Move 30 feet out the entrance and around the building.
Standard Action: Ready an unarmed strike if a goblin comes within range.

![]() |

Losjien can barely fit through the cramped hallway. Knowing his magic ability is moot or plain dangerous at close quarters he approaches the goblins with a dangerous smile. He leap-frogs Gortrek and the bloody mess below him and squeezes aside Kagyu as his spear thrusts forward. Knowing that the Monk is on the other side gives him reassurance that his approach may not get him killed.
With one hand swinging forward and glowing green his fist opens at the apex of a punch. An ancient fey shimmer appears on his grin. [At Blue]
Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
Hope this movement is ok in such a tight space, maybe Losjien bursting aside Kagyu caused him to miss so badly. Knew this was a risky move but damn I think I’m just outside of a hit

GM Red Box |

You can move freely though allies and dead bodies so that part is fine. You cannot be in the same square though so I moved you 5ft more. Not doing the AOO for the goblin because I don't feel like it.
The yellow goblin see Miyagi coming around the back and decides to head him off yelling in common. "Sneaky sneaky but not so sneaky. U's not get away so easy." as it brings it's rusty dirty sword at him.
Attack Yellow @ Miyagi: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

Gortrek did not waste time focusing on the slain goblin. Without missing a beat, he moved after his fellows, taking up a position opposite the sorcerer, and taking another strike.
I'm assuming our sorcerer is wielding his dagger, but if not, you can recalculate the following attack without the flanking bonus. As well, I accept any resulting AOO.
Power Attack Katana: 1d20 + 5 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 5 + 1 + 2 = 11
... Not that the flanking made much difference.

Miyagi-san |

The monk wisdom had saved him. He knew charging headlong into combat would only put him into danger. Sticking his ground, he attempted to punch the goblin...
Prepared Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Only to miss his mark and narrowly avoid an attack from a rusty sword. Side stepping a bit, he attempted a two punch combo to rattle the goblins brains a bit.
Five foot step and Flurry of Blows.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 S%%%... how are we handling nat 1's?
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13

Kagyu Mamoru |

Kagyu was surprised the remaining goblins had stood their ground after their companion was split near in two. A couple extra holes would change that. He lashed out again pressing the flanking advantage.
