Caught off guard by his charging companions, Kagyu lifts his shield and moves into a flanking position.

The team makes an unspoken decision and charges into battle. tahata and Maitoh are first though the door but the effort to push the door open has them a little off balance and their attacks fail to connect. ouch, those rolls!

Gortrek is quick on their heals and manages to avoid the ever present threat of Losjien touching his blade. Even unenchanted his blade strikes true and gashes one of the attackers.

Losjien's attempt to molest, err enchant, Gortrek's blade fails and he is left standing outside the enterance as Durian and Kagyu move into the room.

Sorry cant cast and move in a surprise round. Gortrek I am giving you the attack even though you did not say the weapon was drawn to start as I don't want to get that picky. My assumption is some sort of head nod between you to be ready.

The others come rushing through the doors behind Tahata and he directs Maitoh to approach the birdman from the other side, cornering it between the two of them and the nearby table. "Maitoh, cinah!" he calls before lunging at the bird-creature with his spear. The creatures appear to be an unnatural amalgamation of man and raven, which Tahata struggles to identify.

GM - I've included Maitoh's HP, AC, and saves into my stat line. I've also had us both acting on the same initiative, the higher roller delaying until the other can act. I find it simplifies things - is that OK?

Anyone in the effect’s area when the spell is cast must make a Reflex save. If this save succeeds, the creature is inside the web but is otherwise unaffected. If the save fails, the creature gains the grappled condition, but can break free by making a combat maneuver check or Escape Artist check as a standard action against the DC of this spell. The entire area of the web is considered difficult terrain. Anyone moving through the webs must make a combat maneuver check or Escape Artist check as part of their move action, with a DC equal to the spell’s DC. Creatures that fail lose their movement and become grappled in the first square of webbing that they enter.

That this building once served as a stable is clear, not least from the smell of horse sweat and droppings that permeates the room. Tahata is about to venture into the stalls when a sticky web appears around them, trapping Maitoh and many of the others in it's strands. A cadaverous looking figure with the head of a spider and claws for hands retreats to the far end of the room as a spider the size of Maitoh skitters forwards. Tahata tries to step carefully through the sticky webs as Maitoh wrestles to free himself.

The strong strands of webbing and their sticky coating hold both man and wolf fast. "I'm stuck," Tahata cries, more in frustration than anger. He manages to tear himself free but is no closer to the spider nor the spider-man. Maitoh growls, a low rumbling warning sound, clearly directed at the nearby spider.

Tahata you recognize the spider as a fairly typical giant spider. Poison bite, web attack and immune to mind altering effects.

I am glad I do not live in a world were "typical giant spider" is a sentence said often.

Know: Dungoneering DC15:

The other creature is an Ettercap. Aberration. Poison. Good at making traps.
