By spending 1 point from his ki pool as a swift action, a monk can make one additional unarmed strike at his highest attack bonus when making a flurry of blows attack. This bonus attack stacks with all bonus attacks gained from flurry of blows, as well as those from haste and similar effects. A monk gains additional powers that consume points from his ki pool as he gains levels. The ki pool is replenished each morning after 8 hours of rest or meditation; these hours do not need to be consecutive. Ki Strike At 3rd level, ki strike allows his unarmed attacks to be treated as magic weapons for the purpose of overcoming damage reduction. Ki Power
Qinggong Power: Barkskin Spend 1 Ki point to cast Barkskin on yourself as a Spell-Like Ability Long Backstory:
“A boat can float in water, but it can also sink in it.”
That was the mantra and the warning of my holy order. That was the wisdom imparted upon us at the start of our spiritual journey to enlightenment. That was the reminder we received when we were scolded for misconduct. That was also the catch phrase we sang before getting drunk from the temple’s many liquors and spirits. One must wonder how a person such as myself, can be trained in the ways of law and order yet also have no problems with fulfilling every vice that crosses my wimsey. The answer comes from my upbringing. Many moons ago, when I was but a newborn, I was left at the steps of the temple I now call home. The order naturally took me in and raised me as their own. When I was old enough for training, I was officially inducted and taught the ways of The School of the Seven Heavenly Indulgences. While we were of course taught how to defend ourselves and those around us should the need arise along with the importance of law and order, we were also taught many things other orders would abstain from. To this day, I can still remember how my masters told us that a life dedicated to nothing but training, law, and order was a life that was empty, meaningless, and wasted. However, a life of reckless pleasure and sin was just as wasted. And thus, a perfect balance between the two was what we were to seek. Once that was found, we would no doubt find enlightenment as well. I, myself, was no different from any other. I trained, I indulged, I succeeded, I failed, I got scolded, but most of all, I lived. It was a truly unique experience, one that I would not give up for the world. Still, to truly live, one must stretch their wings and gather experience from the world outside the temple. Thus, when basic training was complete, pilgrimages were assigned to each of us. Mine allowed me to cross paths with a long time friend. I first met the Seer in Sandpoint. The elderly woman helped point the way for me in a time of need and allowed me to complete my first of many pilgrimages. We got along, as if knew each other from a previous lives. I continued to see her and rely upon her for advice, even visit when my journeys were to other places or if there was no journey at all. We both grew older, she had a family with whom I got along with, we shared stories and advice, and memories were made that I would cherish forever. However… like all things in this world, it was not to last. When I answered a recent summons by letter from her, we talked as we always did. She also seemed to have something else on her mind. When I questioned her on it, she wanted me to make a promise. “Should my daughter go on a long journey… I’d like you to keep an eye on her. Keep her safe and help her see it through.” The request was an odd one since she’d never seemed to have wanderlust, but for my friend, I could not refuse. I made the promise, which seemed to put her at ease. Not long after… she made her own journey to the Boneyard, hopely to be judged fairly and sent to a better world. I mourned and stayed with her daughter for a while. Just as my friend predicted, she seemed more than eager to go take a long journey, somewhere outside the borders of Varisia. Even when she approached her own elderly years, she was pestering her adopted son as if she was his child and not the other way around. Around this time as well, I started to feel surges from my spiritual ancestors… my previous lives… They showed me dreams beyond my current understanding, sights I hadn’t seen before, and glimpses of the lives they had lived. I could also somehow feel my old friend still guiding me somehow and watching. Whether it was a true presence from beyond the grave or mere paranoia, I remain intent on keeping my promise. In Niska's name, I will make sure Koya reaches the end of her journey, even if it means the end of my own.
