Pent requires a full pantry, and a masterwork gong.

Dining room set of eight chairs, banquet table, three arm chairs, a small table, and beds for all the PCs runs 653 gp. Wages for a full crew (4 workers and 1 craftsman) run 200 gp for three months or half crew (two workers and one craftsman) for 300 gp for six months.

Bedding 8 gp / bed. (40 gp for all)
Dining ware 3 gp / setting. (24 gp for eight settings)
Cooking ware 20 gp.

Total 3 months: 937 gp
Total 6 months: 1037 gp

Costs are all estimated based on weapon / armor cost of comparable materials and weights of relevant furniture posted on pfsrd.

Ten locks: 800 gp (10 @ 80 gp)

Indoor plumbing: 300 gp x 2 (kitchen & bathroom) = 600 gp

Valet (1 gp / day), year: 365 gp

Total range: 2702 gp to 2802 gp.

Already paid for the locks, so the total goes to 1,902 for the lot if we get a full crew for three months, which is Aldeberts desire. Get it done as quickly as possible is his goal.

Call it 50gp for a masterwork gong (i.e. masterwork tool)?

He also expects more of the Valet than simple Valet duties, so he's going to pay him about an extra sp per day in wages so he'll cost closer to 400gp a year. Pay 'em well and they won't steal is Aldeberts motto. That brings the total up to 1,987gp with an annual expense going forward of 400gp/year.

Ami strolls into Aldebert's office, looking over his shoulder (upon his tippytoes).

"So...Alde...uhm...how are you going to pay 400 gp/year? That seems kind of steep for a pair of brothers who don't have any business or market plans so far. And there is no telling what Haleenie will do nor if she will share?" Ami points out, looking for a business plan (and the correct TPS coversheet).

"If I'm going to invest in you, I'm going to need a guarantee on returns? What is your business model? Where is your prospectus?" Ami looks again at Alde's numbers.

"And you want to pay *more* than a living wage to that chap? Hmm...how are you going to make money, anyway?"

Ami rocks on his feets, waiting for the answer.

"Brother, this is for our comfort, not for our profit. After all, profits must go somewhere, right? You want this ledger here..." Aldebert puts away the household budget and notes and brings out a tidier book, a copy of what Haleen has and uses daily.

"See here, this is where Haleen is using some of our capital to import goods. Here's where we are buying them from her - at fair market value." he smiles and punches the book with his finger, "This is my favorite. This is the first purchase from outside the family. Cash into our business Ami! It's not much, but it's a start, and as the town grows so shall Haleen's business, and by extension us."

"Look here, see how the profits are split. Most goes to Haleen of course as she's the principle, but here - we get a piece from each transaction as we helped found the business, and I help her build it up. When I can."

"That's how we pay our share of the butler, and the house, and other things. In time, the income from the business will take care of our more common needs, and we'll be free to use the income from what we find killing Gnolls and the like to improve our station."

GM Lareg:
I figure I'm splitting my time the first three months 50% on the house (lost time) 25% on building a business (might get a few gold out of the work) and 25% hunting Gnolls with my brother (maybe a couple gold here too, but not much). Is that cool?

Maps: Travel * Hut and more

@Aldebert after the first month you'll be free of any administration. So if you break out that time you've got 1/3 on the house and another 2/3 to break up however you like (month two and three).

All - at this point it seems we're leaning toward there months down time?

Ami is expecting to contribute to the family business, trusting Haleen and Alde to handle the details. He is happy to be more of a growling silent partner...and will work as needed, but is unwilling to dedicate himself to that when there are gnolls to kill nearby.

Moldspeaker:
The PC who has become infused with the mold speaker is free to choose any focus for the yearlong sabbatical, but if he or she chooses to explore her moldspeaker powers, the character learns how to manifest Tempest out of mold-dust, even though the weapon is not otherwise present. This effect lasts for 3 hours per day, and does not work if the actual weapon is within 30 feet. If the weapon is later brought within 30 feet, the mold replica disintegrates and cannot be summoned until the following day.

@GM Lareg:
Ami is interested in such, but not if "sabbatical" means that he can't hunt and kill gnolls and race through the sunny days with Yeen. Ami will continue to occasionally talk to Vardishal, and if the spirit within desires more from Ami, all he must do is ask.

Patrol Kelmarane Hinterlands:
A PC who decides to spend his time patroling Kelmarane and the environs (perhaps with Dashki as a guide) gets into regular skirmishes with small groups of gnolls. There’s no need to play out these combats—you can assume that the PC in question survives each with little more than a few bumps and cuts. The PC is rewarded for his efforts by Almah, in any event, with regular monthly payments of 250 gp.

@GM Lareg:
Ami will arise each day with a smile upon his face for today would be another day in which Sarenrae's light might illuminate more gnolls for he and Yeen to kill. It wouldn't ever occur to Ami to ask for payment for such honor (he might pay for a hunting license, in fact), but assume that Alde and Almah would be more honorable and pay him regardless.

It's not unlike Forrest Gump mowing the grass.

And 'cause I was a gozillionaire and I liked doing it so much, I cut that grass for free.

Church of Sarenrae:

The PC receives the rank of Abbot-Protector of Kelmarane’s Sarenraen community, and is treated as an authority second only to the high priest, who soon arrives from the coast. This NPC begins play with a friendly attitude toward the character.

@GM Lareg:
Ami would have continued to work on the chapel and the monastery...especially if it was empty after Almah left it. It would become a launching point for when he ranged for gnolls to his side of Kelmarane, a shady napping spot after finishing off a kill. He liked quietly rebuilding the pews using Sarenrae's mending, and the quiet way Yeen's snoring and purring echoed off the tiles therein. However, Ami cares little of titles and would have slipped the rank as quickly as a cat would evade a collar. However, he continues to work in the chapel and monastery, fixing and cleaning and reading of Vardishal.

Maps: Travel * Hut and more

Ami:
Moldspeaker as it's written would have to be the sole focus. I'm thinking we can develop a lesser version, sort of like what is already going on. I've got some ideas so unless you're attached enough to explore the weapon focus we'll go with something else. The other areas can easily be combined (w/o the title for the church position).

Statistical Representation of Character's Sunny Disposition:

Well, this is quite the uptime, actually! Getting a house in order, getting a town in order... but, yes. Pent will spend the next several months in his downtime demonstrating his gratitude, and gathering information as the town grows. He'll need something to continually fascinate... with occasional dips into a fine grade of pesh...

Expenses:
Masterwork Transformation of Light Crossbow 301gp
Sleeves of Many Garments 200gp
Masterwork Gong 50gp
Installation of Sun Roof ??gp
Installation of Balcony off Pent's Room ??gp

Before the Priest of Sarenrae arrives, Pent wants to organize a light tithing fund, either with or without Almah dedicating town resources, so the church gets renovated properly, or at least has a good start. He'll migrate from personal spellcasting to spellcasting that can benefit the town (Create Water, Bless Water, Blessing of the Watch, Healing/Restoration...) He'll learn how to be pushy without being pushy.

Maps: Travel * Hut and more

Balcony, yes. Likely already present - though not adjacent to the room in which the desk is present. So perhaps repair of the balcony along with an enclosure or no?

Sun roof not so much. We'll get to the limited supply of glass soonish. Salvaged stained glass might be of interest to Pent?

Diplomacy / Charisma check (Pent's choice) for 'church' business. Feel free to preference Graval (sp?) or Almah as your target.

Maps: Travel * Hut and more

Ami:
Ok, so here is my proposal. With a three way split of attention the mold speaker ability would look like this:
Echo of the Moldspeaker: By meditating for ten minutes, you may gain one of the following benefits (1/day):

+1 to attacks, damage and saving throws, lasting 1 hour
A yes/no answer to a single question concerning events not in the future, otherwise as an augury, with an 80 + character level percent chance to be right
+2 moral bonus to a single skill, lasting 1 hour
+2 ability increase to one ability, lasting 1 hour
+2 dodge bonus to AC, lasting 1 hour

If you decided to focus on only two areas (gnolls and moldspeaker for example) you could use the ability 2/day.

@GM Lareg:
OOOH!! That sounds completely awesome. Let's do that.

Yes, Ami will be dedicating his own time to gnoll patrol and the monastery and whatever comes of the Mold. That sounds just great.

Nope...going 3 ways. 2 ways is just lazy, lazy like a gnome, I tells you.

Otah and Mahdi? Thoughts?

With the holiday approaching next week I'm in no hurry to get back into the action. I also don't want to leave folks out of the role play. For now I'll pause on furthering the game play thread.

Feel free to 'rewind' so to speak if you wish to insert specifics in past events. Back when we arrived...

I'll post later today, guys, fallin' sleep right now after a long day. Very short version is I'm agreeing with the 'shorter' downtime, like, a few months/half a year, rather than a full year. If I'd known the AP would have allowed for that much downtime, I might have gone for crafting feats. ;)

Anyway will post more later.

Howdy guys!

Apologies for the delay, I tend to be away from a PC on the weekend, and Friday/Monday (when I'm normally at my desk) I was pulled away for various reasons.

I don't feel that Otah gets to, or should expect to, have any say in the manor's direction. He will, proactively, work on defenses and spending time with any soldiers in the area. If he can make any gold doing so, great. Otherwise, he works on his manual and goes on any adventures the party requests or the city needs.

Though you would never get an invite from Ami, if you wanted to ask him to come along on his rangings to kill gnolls, he would accept you.

You might need to find an ass/horse to ride to keep up with Yeen, but it might be fun if OOO-tah is bored.

Sadly, this is not the kind of thing that Ami would be the instigator on.

When Pent starts visiting the slave traders, he'll no doubt welcome the chopper along as enforcer.

At this point, does Otah benefit from the sabbabitical, like the rest of us yokels?

Pent has plenty of errands, and is likely to inquire with the lazing dwarf, should he ever be caught lazing.

Maps: Travel * Hut and more

Otah will, depending on his selection of activities receive a similar payment. Likely this will be from Quinn / Thomas.

Ok, I think we're set now. This is what I have so far.

Aldebert - Market with Haleen & Hunting Gnolls with Ami / Yeen
Ami - Hunting Gnolls & helping the church
Mahdi - Scrolls & Temple Inscriptions
Otah - Hunting Gnolls & helping Thomas / Quinn
Pent - Administration for Almah & helping the church

Is this all accurate? Missing anything?

I'd like to be ready to start off the next book this coming week.

A couple of new items:

Fredrick will request a room within the manor (83 gp for bed and bedding). He's also suggesting that the manor be equipped to house a guest (83 gp as above). Furniture (60 gp for his room, 120 gp for both his and guest room) for keeping clothing in would be nice, but he can make due without.

Hokay, scrolls: I almost never do item creation (since the bulk of my Pathfinder play is PFS), so I'm always slightly fuzzy on it, so everyone please correct me if I'm wrong:

Scroll of mage armor using my actual caster level of 5: costs me 62.5 gold to scribe, has a Spellcraft check of 10, auto-success to scribe, would be duration 5 hours.

Scroll of mage armor if I elected to create it as, say, a 2nd-level caster: costs me 25 GP to scribe, has a Spellcraft check of 7, auto-success to scribe, duration 2 hours.

Scroll of haste at caster level 5: costs me 187.5 GP to make, spellcraft check DC 10, auto-success, blah blah.

Alde and Ami, I'm tempted to make the mage armor scrolls at level 2 and simply use them when we think combat is likely in the next two hours, for your mounts (and probably for me too); if I do that I'm fine with taking the cost of the scrolls on myself. If you want the five-hour castings, I might ask you to chip in. ;) In three months downtime, I could make, well, an awful lot of mage armor scrolls, with cost being the primary limiting factor, but I'm thinking that a cache of 10-15 right now would probably be okay, unless we want more?

And I'll probably make the scroll of haste just because it's a nice thing to have around as a backup.

Here's the list of all the spells currently in my spellbook:

(a bunch of cantrips)
Burning Disarm
Burning Hands
Color Spray
Endure Elements
Liberating Command
Mage Armor
Shield
Vanish
Continual Flame (can't scribe or cast right now due to not having ruby dust)
Endure Elements, Communal
Flaming Sphere
Glitterdust
Veil of Ash
Fireball
Haste

Are there any other, besides mage armor, that we think would be really handy to have scrolls of? Endure Elements is a possibility, do we still need to worry about that?

edit I'm fine with chipping into household running costs and for Freddy's room and stuff, just let me know how much gold to deduct.

Also, I will likely scribe the two scrolls I've been carrying for ages of enlarge person and gravity bow, just to have them out of my inventory and into my spellbook.

Spellcraft, DC 16, to copy Enlarge Person: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13
Spellcraft, DC 16, to copy Gravity Bow: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (5) + 12 = 17

A week passes, I try again with Enlarge Person

Spellcraft, DC 16, to copy Enlarge Person: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 25

There. So now I have both of those added to my spells known. -20 GP. *tidies up behind self*

Halfling (Per +19 | Fort +17 Ref +12 Will +15 | AC 26 (f25/t14) | CMD 29)

GM Lareg - I followed all Frederick's advice and took the gold for everything off.

Mahdi - everyone chipped in 100gp to start (though some gave more) and we still have a little left (just shy of 1500gp) thanks to Almah.

Mahdi - I'd like to pay for any scrolls you use on my behalf. Aldebert would feel VERY guilty if you were to use your own coin on his mount. He'd likely also insist on the same for Ami (whose purse he controls). So why don't you make 10 (level 2 sounds great), and let me know how much they are and I'll cover half and Ami can cover half. Cool?

Otah has gold too, and if he's staying in the house, he can pay to stay. Just let me know what his share will be and I'll remove it from his inventory.

Maps: Travel * Hut and more

This all sounds good. I'll pull the list of spells from the columns and we can just assume you learn them. Some of them I think you'll know all ready.

By month two magic supplies (such as the ruby dust) can be found, but it might be a bit more expensive (roll a Diplomacy - anyone can make this roll on your behalf). Month three you can assume the church has been situated, thought the repairs / restoration is ongoing. A paladin does arrive shortly before book two starts so feel free to purchase paladin scrolls at normal cost.

I'll rough out a narration of the happenings in the three months. Have some specifics to provide for each PC. With the holiday I'll get to these specifics off an on over the next few days. Goal will be to start book two next week some time.

Ami is happy to pay for a few scrolls...they are cheap enough and can be sold for little, if any, loss of value.

Put me down for 2 scrolls of Mage Armor at Lvl 2: 2*25gp = 50gp.

I had hoped (and already marked off my loots) for a Pearl of Power 1 and am not sure when that will be coming in. Hopefully, the two scrolls will last until it does.

1 Haste @ Level 5 - 187.5 for myself

House costs - 100 GP

In the second month, as merchants set up shop, Mahdi goes to wheedle rubies from jewelers, explaining that he doesn't need jewelry-quality ones and that he needs them ground on their lapidary grinding stones... What's he need them for, you ask? FOR GLORIOUS FIRE.

Mahdi tries to impress/cajole/purchase from merchants: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10

Well, at least he didn't wind up setting anyone on fire.

Ok, Mahdi will be offered the dust for double the price. Apparently the merchant thought he was rude. Roll again for month three at a more reasonable price or buy?

Mahdi is extraordinarily put out at this uppity merchant's attitude and says he would sooner pay to have a camel lick his feet clean of the road before he would give in to extortionary tactics like that, and does this man's mother know he's robbing people in this fashion? Also, Sa'amm will hiss at the man.

Mahdi nurses the grudge for the next two months and it has a somewhat negative impact on the next time he grudgingly approaches the jeweler again.

Diplomacy, Pride drawback: 1d20 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 1 - 2 = 9

He is, if possible, a delicately-calculated hair ruder this time around.

(But he does eagerly copy down those spells into his spellbook.) Copying down Grease, Shocking Grasp, and Sleep, for a net of -30 GP. I'm just going to take 10 on those if permitted. If not I'll... roll several times until I roll numbers higher than a 3 on a d20.

Maps: Travel * Hut and more

@ Mahdi Taking 10 is fine. At the second visit with the merchant you get the distinct impression the merchant realized something since your last visit. You can't be for sire, but he keeps looking past you. The rudeness seems to barely register. As you leave with you purchase (standard cost) you catch a glympse of one of Almah's guards. Apparently the merchant has been informed of your reputation.

Mahdi says that is more like it! Harrumph! There, there, Sa'amm, the man has seen the error of his ways...

-100 GP for two doses worth of ruby dust

Mahdi would also like to shop for, and purchase, a nice ring, preferably gold, with a stylized flame design... maybe something like this or this, if he can find anything like that among the merchants who are setting up shop? He's willing to spend up to 20 GP if he can find a nice one. He says rubies or garnet insets are bonus points.

If he can find something like this-- he uses this ring as the object touched for one casting of continual flame, and walks into the manor showing off his burning ring resting nice and pretty on his finger.

"Well? What do you think? My own personal 'legacy of fire'. I could make something similar for one of you, if you like.... ring not included."

If you play PFS and have a character in tier that you think would fit (level 6-7, or a 5 could squeak in), feel free to check us out. Scenario is #3-25, Storming the Diamond Gate.

Recruitment thread

I'm playing the cleric.

Wish I could. My only PFS character is a long abandoned 1st lvl oracle (used the pregen oracle long ago for a single shot I've long since forgotten).

Same here, sadly. A little dabble into PFS. Even purchased an Andoran T-shirt for the one-time reroll opportunity... Don't judge.

Yeen stares at the gnome with passive cat interest...probably judging.

No worries, t'was just a feeler.

Ring of Fire?? Yes, please!!

To be clear...

Pent will step to the head of the line to accept Mahdi's offer for fire ring manufacture.

Any others seeking Mahdi's offer above the gnome?

Pent is totally cool on covering cost of ruby dust, and of course the ring as well, which hopefully models the shining glory of Sarah.

Mahdi says just as long as you understand the ring is to be worn on your finger and not on other parts of your anatomy, Pent. If you want that sort of ring you're better off talking to, say, Undrella.

Then, we're in agreement :) It's not to say that a small thing like a ring couldn't find its way into different nooks and crannies...

Yes on the ring (see here for price guidance). Signet rings are 5 gp. The style noted is a bit more complicated so let's just call it 10 gp (clearly not the poison pill ring for 20 gp, but a bit more ornate than a signet). Fair?

Totes fair. It's just flavor silliness on my part, but cheers for enabling it.

Still alive here, just a really busy time. Hope to catch up Monday or Tuesday.

Busy is as Busy does :) Glad to know you're still alive.

It begins. If able, please begin checking in more often. We can wind down again as another batch of holidays approach. Let me know how things look for you. Beyond further papers, my schedule will be slowing as we go from here on out.

+1. I'm excited for this.

GM Lareg, over the downtime, how many gnolls would you say Ami and Yeen have hunted? I need to know how proud/confident Ami will be...and how many rings he has on his necklace.

Secondly, my work. She was a lovely cat.
