Well we can take the goblin back to Sandpoint with us and have him tossed in the jail.
I'm not really too bothered what we do one way or another.

Talia Burrows |

We hit a bit of a dead patch it seems, but things have started to pick up recently. Keep posting and you'll get a bite. :)

Talia Burrows |

I'm away from home this week and next, looking after my father. So my posting my be slow at times. Bot me as needed.

GM Phntm888 |

Okay, then...
Since you seem to be stuck, here's a suggestion for getting into Thistletop:
1. Rasmorn casts silent image to exactly mimic the area where the bridge meets the mainland. The goblins don't get a Will save, since they aren't interacting with the illusion.
2. Talia goes up to the bridge and disarms the trap so it doesn't collapse while you cross it.
3. Rasmorn casts web to trap the goblins and goblin dogs that are there.
4. Then you charge across the bridge and take them out quickly while they are entangled.
This is honestly how I thought you were going to approach the problem the entire time, and you surprised me when you didn't.

Isabella Monstrance |

So Talia is hiding behind a Wile E. Coyote flat painting of the bridge? :D
I don't have any spells or skills that will get us across so I'll just follow the lead!

Cade Goodbarrel |

I am fine with that...just so I know for future RPing...who is the one that makes the battle plans and who is the one in charge of the group?
My character is new to the group so I was not going to step on any toes...just yet.

Talia Burrows |

I'm now back at home and able to post more regularly.
As to who makes the plans and who is in charge? No one really, we haven't set out the roles that firmly.
Talia is the impetuous one and sometimes needs to be reined in when she gets too excited. :)
The plan sounds good to me, otherwise I was going to suggest Talia stealthing forward to disarm the trap. Looking at the map I don't see a way to climb up without risking being spotted and picked off.

Laufey Gemshrike |

Sorry, I'm still trying to get back to normal from the holidays. I'll get a post up tomorrow.
Honestly I'm not sure what we should do. The web didn't turn out like I expected, and it looks like we actually can't move off the bridge onto the other side right now. Any ideas anyone?

Isabella Monstrance |

Honestly, I dunno. As Laufey said, the web position really ruined this. I guess people with missile weapons should use them. I got nuthin'.

Cade Goodbarrel |

Just got home a couple of hours ago from vacation with family in CO. Finally done with unpacking and laundry.
We can not do anything about the web now. If anyone has a way to created a path through the web to do door area. We can push through to the door and secure it from being used.

Laufey Gemshrike |

@Cade: The only two ways I know of to remove the webbing is to light it on fire, or dismiss the spell. A fire would be fairly large I think, and very noticeable. Also since the webbing is on the far end of the bridge, and the bridge is rope, does the bridge survive?
Dismissing the spell after we've gone as far on the bridge as we can just puts us into a melee at the foot of the bridge, which will again be hard not to notice.
We are just as much affected by the web spell as the goblins and dogs, and can become entangled in it as well.
Either way it's hard to imagine we're not then facing an alerted fort containing a whole goblin tribe plus worse from the non-goblins such as Nualia.
It looks like the idea of gaining entrance to the fort through stealth is a dead idea. We may just have to grind our way through a very long combat and hope for the best.

GM Phntm888 |

If it helps for morale, when my face to face group did this, they did it one level lower than you were after the druid alerted the entire fort by tracking Tsuto to Thistletop, pretending to join Nualia, and then sneaking off. She then convinced the party to skip the Catacombs and head straight to Thistletop.
They also didn't use the best tactics and were kind of bumbling their way through. I was amazed they survived.
However, I will say this: Rasmorn, do you want to reposition your web spell?

Rasmorn Nikas Nesvyn |

I think the map itself got moved at some point - currently, several of the baddies are floating over the water. I'd be down to move it, but would rather have the map back in the right place first, and I'm not positive what that is.

Laufey Gemshrike |

Perhaps I'm being overly cautious based on my previous time through. We tried to fight our way into an alerted fort and got mauled badly. Our first attempt ended with us retreating and cutting down the bridge behind us to prevent pursuit. The second time trying we went in through one of he seaside caves and managed alright.
It wasn't that we couldn't win a given fight, it was that they were so costly in HP we couldn't keep going and there was no place to pause and recover.
I'd say let's just burn the webbing if it doesn't take out the bridge. We need to be able to get a toehold on he other side. Otherwise whatever. If we need to just smash through I guess that's what we do.

GM Phntm888 |

The map did, in fact get moved. I have moved things back, and I also moved your web. There is now room for melee fighters to cross the bridge and not get stuck in the webbing as well, and still be able to attack.
I'm also going to say that you shouldn't feel you have to go through the entire fort in one go. I'll give you chances to fall back and rest if needed.

Laufey Gemshrike |

Sorry for the lapse, I had a couple of long and busy days at work.
So, if we can step off the bridge on the far side we can continue with our original plan. Cade across first followed by Laufey and Talia? Everyone still good with that?

Cade Goodbarrel |

OK
I am fine with that but I can not get across the bridge in a single move action of the surprise round. I moved my self to the middle of the bridge assuming the blocks are 5 foot. Bellum has a 40 foot move.

Laufey Gemshrike |

I'm down and out with flu right now so it may be a couple of days before I post again. Please bot me as needed.

GM Phntm888 |

After another scan of the yard Talia will get down and after checking it for traps will open the gate as quietly as possible. She signals Laufey to keep watch.
Since there is some confusion, Talia posted that before I could update the map and show that she was not in the same room as the gate. She had not got the gate open. I thought I'd made that clear on the map, but I should have posted to be more clear about that.

GM Phntm888 |

Okay, this next part is a little dungeony. So, something I've recently seen other GMs do that I'm going to steal is a Standard Door Opening Procedure. Essentially, you guys tell me what you want to do every time you come to a door - do you want to check every door for traps or magic, who opens the door, that kind of thing.

Rasmorn Nikas Nesvyn |

Sounds reasonable to me. I don't have much of an opinion really, provided I don't go through the doors first! I guess it might not be a bad idea for me to run a cautionary detect magic before each door. Maybe I detect magic while Talia checks for / disarms traps, and once the door is clear Laufey and/or Cade goes through first?

Isabella Monstrance |

Assume that any time we stop to check something out, I cast guidance on the person doing the Perceptifying.

Talia Burrows |

Sounds good to me.
Remember Talia has the Rogue talent Trap spotter. So you can roll her perception when she's within 10' of any trap.

Cade Goodbarrel |

I will be traveling until next Sunday. I will have my laptop and phone with me so my ability to post will not be infringed...but since I am traveling into another country I will be limited in when I can post. It is not that much money for the international phone plan but we are only using it for emergencies. I will be able to post when we get to the hotel and log in on the laptop. If I am needed and it can not wait till later that night, please go ahead and bot me.
Thank you in advance

Talia Burrows |

Lets get this sorted out before we go on.
Talia wanted to clear the rooms behind us, but thought that had been voted down, so she advanced.
Looks like Talia and Cade both want to back up and deal with the unopened doors first.
What is everyone else's view?
