Nyloth Moonborn |
Nyloth will pull out his Elven Curve Blade and stand ready in silence.
GM Nowruz |
The sensation that Hedega had felt just moments ago becomes reality for all of you in mere seconds.
The comforting embrace of the bronze door ahead slips further away. The world spins as colors and sounds blend together into a sickening maelstrom. The chaos passes just as quickly, but the passage is suddenly gone and instead there is now only a scrap of rock, surrounded by inky blackness dotted with distant points of light. Fractured sounds, like whispered
curses, float across the darkness.
Jinath=1, Nyloth=2, Inga=3, Lucious=4, Meux=5, Hadega=6
1d6 ⇒ 3
As soon as you materialize you are horrified by the environment and find yourself placed in another dimension.
Hadega, Inga and Jinath are next to each other and see an extra-dimensional version of a giant leech in front of them.
Kn (nature)
Giant Leech CR 2
N Medium vermin ( aquatic)
Init +1; Senses blindsight 30 ft., scent; Perception +0
DEFENSE
AC 11, touch 11, flat-footed 10 (+1 Dex)
hp 19 (3d8+6)

Attach (Ex)
When a giant leech hits with a bite attack, it latches onto its target and automatically grapples. The giant leech loses its Dexterity bonus to AC and has an AC of 10, but holds on with great tenacity and automatically inflicts bite damage each round. A giant leech has a +8 racial bonus to maintain its grapple on a foe once it is attached. An attached giant leech can be struck with a weapon or grappled itself—if its prey manages to win a grapple check or Escape Artist check against it, the giant leech is removed.
Blood Drain (Ex)
A giant leech drains blood at the end of each turn it is attached, inflicting 1 point of Strength and Constitution damage.
Susceptible to Salt (Ex)
A handful of salt burns a giant leech as if it were a flask of acid, causing 1d6 points of damage per use.
Initiative Round 1
1. Jinath, Lucious, Nyloth
2. Opponent
3. Meux, Hadega, Inga
Inga: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Hadega: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Jinath: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20
Meux: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Lucious: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (18) + 0 = 18
Nyloth: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Opponent: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
BOLD may act! SEE NEW MAP!
Lucious the Lawyer |
Lucious stumbles for a moment as he attempts to comprehend what just happened when he is suddenly brought back to the moment when he realizes just where he is standing.
”Oh pits of Nessus!!! he swears,”rock ain’t meant to float like a cloud in the sky!” he says as he keeps his balance.
Upon seeing the rest of the scene he will shout across,”NYLOTH! Laddy tread carefully now, ye barely got a wagons worth of rock ta stand on, and I don’t see a bottom of the fall!” as he appears to split into two equally identical copies of himself and casts a spell.
Lucious uses his copycat ability(counts as having one mirror image) and casts guidance on himself once more.
Nyloth Moonborn |
Nyloth pauses for a moment, attempting to get his bearings on the new location.
"Where...where did the ground go? Thank you Lucious, you warning is well timed, lack of ground can be somewhat of an issue for me."
Nyloth taps his sword around him, finding that it doesn't reach the ground in certain spots.
"Yep, thats a drop all right. Everyone sound off so I can picture the layout our location."
Perception for Lucious: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (11) + 12 = 23 vs DC 7
Perception for the enemy: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21 vs DC 20 (to know it exists)/40 (to pinpoint)
"Well, you sure are a good ways away Lucious, I hope that isn't where the enemy is with that large of a gap."
Will finish turn after Jinath.
Meux Feux |
"Inga...taking a 5 foot step down-away from me-will put you away from the edge and still be sufficiently close enough that I will be able to send Yamatsumi's healing energy your way."
Just curious is the DC to walk the chains (if even possible...) 20 as the Aerialist's rod
"Nyloth, if you take a 5' step to the diagonal forward and to your right, you will be in a solid ground area. In that space, in the upper left portion of your immediate area, there is a grounded chain anchored to the main island travelling at a near-perfect 45 degree angle. I do not know what acrobatic prowess you possess, but that may help. The length of the gap the chain spans being approximately 15 feet, and the angle favoring the low side of 45."
Lucious the Lawyer |
”An if ye can make it to the central rock, I should be able to secure a powerful blessing. You too Jinath, if you engage the beast I’ll be able to bless your blows.” he adds.
GM Nowruz |
The Acrobatics for walking over the chain is DC 15 - if you fall that will be deadly. Meux and Nyloth could also jump with a 10ft. running start but Lucious does not have that benefit; distance to main rock is 10 ft. for Nyloth but 15 ft. for Lucious and Meux - that means jump DC is 10 for Nyloth, 15 for Meux and 30 for Lucious. If you fail this jump check by 4 or less, you can attempt a DC 20 Reflex save to grab hold of the other side after having missed the jump. If you fail by 5 or more, you fail to make the jump and fall and die.
Lucious the Lawyer |
lucious is pretty much stuck until the fights over. His acrobatics to jump is - 10. He can bless once another one or two get in range.
Lucious the Lawyer |
do you mean Lucious or Jinath?
GM Nowruz |
I am going to bot Jinath - he makes a double move action to get as near to the beast as possible. I am remote so will roll dice manually.
The strange leech is from the fabric of another reality and moves towards Inga who is still not in full action as she is hit by the bite of this beast (4 damage). What happens then is terrifying as the leach suddenly attaches itself to Inga and wraps its body around her.
3. Meux, Hadega, Inga are up.
Inga' |
Before Inga can see where she has arrived, she is swallowed up by some kind of giant leech...
Unable to use her bow, she tries to slice at the creature with the spikes on her gauntlet.
Cold Iron Piercing: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 101d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
I imagine I am grappled? I reduced my attack roll by 2 for being Grappled.
GM Nowruz |
You are correct that you are grappled Inga but you hit nonetheless as the leech has not dex at the moment and has AC 10.
Inga struggles because of the giant leech but is able to pierce the skin of the leech with her gauntlet and scratch it.

Battle
# G. leech: -2 HP
# Inga: 6/13
3. Meux & Hadega are up.
Nyloth Moonborn |
I meant after Jinath as Meux technically couldn't speak until her turn as it is a free action, not a non-action, and while you can talk outside your turn, you can't take begin to take actions until your initiative step.
Perception for Jinath: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (11) + 12 = 23
Perception for the enemy: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 31
"Ah, I'm beginning to see the layout, and where our enemy is."
Free action to channel the Trickster to get a rank in acrobatics, then charge attack the enemy.
Acrobatics, DC 20: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Free action to switch to the champion during the charge, then swing.
Elven Curve attack roll: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Damage: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Hadega Scrimsworth |
Knowledge (nature): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
What IS that thing! Horrid!
A scowl works its way across Hadega's face. She takes a moment, assesses the creature, but the otherworldly nature of it eludes her. She looks down at her whip.
No sense tripping something with no legs!
She drops her whip and draws out the masterwork rapier, shouting all the while amidst the roiling planar energies. "Well look at this now, an uninvited guest and a drooling one at that. I recall one dinner party with such a guest, drooling at the food, mud on his boots. Somehow that fool became my husband. Let THAT be a lesson to all of you. BACKS STRAIGHT!"
Drop whip, draw rapier. Inspire courage on everyone but Meux and Lucious.
Meux Feux |
With the leech having but a scratch, Meux has little to lose in trying to keep Inga alive by channeling the divine power of his deity,
"Somewhere between the fury of the fiery belly of the volcano and the vicious rime of it's snow-capped crest, lies the place of serendipitous healing. I grant this to you!"
Channel+: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Lucious the Lawyer |
Now that enough allies are within range, Lucious prepares a blessing ” Prince of law, grant me a drop of your absolute power!!”
Lucious casts bless; +1 morale bonus on attacks and saves vs fear to all except Meux
Nyloth Moonborn |
Nyloth swings his blade again.
Swing: 1d20 + 5 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 5 + 1 + 1 = 27
Damage: 1d10 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 7 + 1 = 11
Confirm: 1d20 + 5 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 5 + 1 + 1 = 11
crit damage: 1d10 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 7 + 1 = 15
GM Nowruz |
No, you made the decision to move me which is something he will live with but explanations should be clearer so that people can make decisions
Jinath, you are right. I believed you would only post again tomorrow but nonetheless should have waited. I am a new GM and need to find the fine line. Will try my best to improve. :-)
GM Nowruz |
Nyloth swings his blade again.
[dice=Swing] 1d20+5+1+1
[dice=Damage] 1d10+7+1[dice=Confirm] 1d20+5+1+1
[dice=crit damage] 1d10+7+1
After Jinath tried to pierce the leech's wet skin with his spear but did not hit, you all see Nyloth fiercely attack the leech that is still attached to Inga. With unbelievable precision Nyloth cuts the leech in half without hurting Inga.
The sudden silence after your battle is almost unbearable.

# G. leech: Dead

Lucious the Lawyer |
”Basileus’ smoldering eyes!”, he swears,”Nyloth I’m begginin’ to s’spect your more than meets the eye harhar!!” as he laughs at his own slightly dark pun.
GM Nowruz |
After you breathe the thin air of this unreal place for another minute you feel the same emptiness and see the same colors that brought you to this place ... and then you teleport back to the room where you were standing before this bizarre dream began.
You look around and it almost feels as if you are seeing the room for the first time.
This chamber is lined with symbols like those near the entryway. There are obvious signs of a recent struggle, including blood and the corpse of a morlock. Drag marks slide through a pool of blood formed around the head of the morlock, indicating a large creature was pulled through the sealed door on the east side of the room.
The door in the east wall is intricately formed from bronze. Four interconnected, circular windows reveal a confusing series of cogs and sprockets within. Levers, dials, and knobs protrude from the frames surrounding the window, but nothing appears to be an obvious latch.
Inga' |
"By my grandfather's furry feet, what is happening here? We pop into a pocket dimension to be sucked of our blood, and in the meantime they slip a body past us? Such sly, conniving, maneuvers cannot be good manners!", Inga is looking around, bow in hand, expecting some creature to appear.
Meux Feux |
Memories assail Meux. Past vocations that could have been-that any respectable gnome could have taken up-bombard him. He sighs,
"I am just not that kind of gnome. It seems on the surface that none of us have the required skills to attend to this matter in a skilled manner. Shall we commence with the bashing?"
How much "real time" has elapsed since we were apparently transported into the pocket dimension? Hedging weapons' duration is a full minute. If the time has not aleapsed, and its a unanimous consensus that we are going to resort to physically destroying this door, Meux will discharge his weapon upon the door
Hadega Scrimsworth |
"By my grandfather's furry feet, what is happening here? We pop into a pocket dimension to be sucked of our blood, and in the meantime they slip a body past us? Such sly, conniving, maneuvers cannot be good manners!", Inga is looking around, bow in hand, expecting some creature to appear.
"Goodness," Hadega says, snapping her head over to Inga. "The girl can be taught. If I had a daughter I might have wished for her to have half as good a head on her shoulders. TAKE NOTE. This is the kind of well-bred upbringing I expect from the Pathfinder Society, not the collection of homeless murdering vagabonds and ratcatchers most people might expect. No!"
She then adjusts her bifocals and peers at the door, looking for a way to release the mechanisms holding it shut.
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Nyloth Moonborn |
As the world shunts back into place you hear Nyloth calling out.
"Did the world change again? Is it all flat this time at least?"
Lucious the Lawyer |
“Ay Nyloth, we are back where ye split that morlock, only now there’s a door with all kinds of levers and knobs. Far beyond my ken.”
unless someone has engineering or maybe arcana I think we might need to smash through
Nyloth Moonborn |
Would knowledge engineering help?
"My thanks Lucious, you have quite a knack for being my eyes when the spirits aren't around."
Lucious the Lawyer |
”lets juss say I know what it’s like to be surrounded by darkness, and how helpful a friendly set of eyes can be” he says through a grin as Solomon slithers through his beard and back into his cloak. mine was a figurative darkness of course
Meux Feux |
Assume that you are still in rounds and this is 5 rounds after you left this room.
A divine tetsubo of force still circling him, Meux waits for the party to quickly deliberate on what to do about the door. Anyone working on that knowledge engineering roll?
If the duration of the Hedging Weapons spell gets to it's end, and there is no headway on a "skilled civilized" solution, he will discharge the spell at the door (pending that it is a legitimate target)
As a standard action, you can grasp a weapon and throw it as a ranged attack at any target you can see within 30 feet of you (even if it’s a type of weapon that can’t normally be thrown).
Hadega Scrimsworth |
Knowledge (engineering): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Hadega considers the problem before them. She tries a couple gears to see what happens.
"Of course I've attended classes on engineering. Absalom's universities are some of the best in the Inner Sea!"
GM Nowruz |
Hadega looks at the door with more time and it looks like a clockwork logic toy built in a simpler form by gnomish tinkerers.
Levers and knobs must be operated in a chaotic pattern - while not sentient, the door’s controls change and react when manipulated, creating the illusion of a thoughtful and clever opponent in a curious logic game. You probably will have to beat this clever door in game so that it opens.
Lucious the Lawyer |
if it’s a logic game would a wisdom check help?
Nyloth Moonborn |
"Most people beat me when it comes to logic puzzles, so I'm not likely to be of much help here."
Nyloth simply sheathes his sword and waits patiently, keeping an ear out for anything out of the ordinary.
Low INT score.
