Hi guys, as I will not be able to post much over the weekend, I will already announce the machinery's actions.

A. Jinath please ignore the below when you take your action in round 1 and I will resolve accordingly.

B. After Jinath has acted please Nyloth, Inga, Meux you can take your actions in round 1 taking the below into account as that happens before you take your action and I will resolve.

C. After that please Hadega, Jinath, Lucious you can take your actions in round 2 taking the below into account as well as what your colleagues did in round 1 as that happens before you take your action and I will resolve.

---
---

Everybody in the room sees clearly that the outer machinery reacts the moment Nyloth moves in the direction of Nuar. An animated chain moves with lightning speed towards Nyloth and tries to entangle him.

Nyloth please make DC 14 Reflex save - otherwise you are entangled (see spoiler) and only on your turn can try to slip free with a DC 20 Escape Artist check.

Entagled:

Entangled: The character is ensnared. An entangled creature moves at half speed, cannot run or charge, and takes a –2 penalty on all attack rolls and a –4 penalty to Dexterity. An entangled character who attempts to cast a spell must make a concentration check (DC 15 + spell level) or lose the spell.

And then you all see that Abysiel awakens and starts to speak and move his hands to cast a spell.

He then looks at you in a crazy way and says "Cast aside your weapons."

Spellcraft DC 16:

Hypnotism hit dice affected: 2d4 ⇒ (2, 4) = 6

HYPNOTISM

School enchantment (compulsion) [mind-affecting]; Level bard 1, sorcerer/wizard 1

Casting Time 1 round

Components V, S

Range close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)

Area several living creatures, no two of which may be more than 30 ft. apart

Duration 2d4 rounds (D)

Saving Throw Will negates; Spell Resistance yes

Your gestures and droning incantation fascinate nearby creatures, causing them to stop and stare blankly at you. In addition, you can use their rapt attention to make your suggestions and requests seem more plausible. Roll 2d4 to see how many total HD of creatures you affect. Creatures with fewer HD are affected before creatures with more HD. Only creatures that can see or hear you are affected, but they do not need to understand you to be fascinated.

If you use this spell in combat, each target gains a +2 bonus on its saving throw. If the spell affects only a single creature not in combat at the time, the saving throw has a penalty of –2.

While the subject is fascinated by this spell, it reacts as though it were two steps more friendly in attitude. This allows you to make a single request of the affected creature (provided you can communicate with it). The request must be brief and reasonable. Even after the spell ends, the creature retains its new attitude toward you, but only with respect to that particular request.

A creature that fails its saving throw does not remember that you enspelled it.

All except of Nyloth please make Will saves DC 12 (reflected that we are in combat with +2 to save - original save DC 14). If you fail you are fascinated and just stop and stare blankly as well as let go of your weapons.

Fascinated:

A fascinated creature is entranced by a supernatural or spell effect. The creature stands or sits quietly, taking no actions other than to pay attention to the fascinating effect, for as long as the effect lasts. It takes a –4 penalty on skill checks made as reactions, such as Perception checks. Any potential threat, such as a hostile creature approaching, allows the fascinated creature a new saving throw against the fascinating effect. Any obvious threat, such as someone drawing a weapon, casting a spell, or aiming a ranged weapon at the fascinated creature, automatically breaks the effect. A fascinated creature's ally may shake it free of the spell as a standard action.

Round 1
He will try to poke the machine with his spear
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Please everybody als make a perception check:

DC 10:
Abysiel is tied to the machine and dangles 20 feet above its center by 12 massive bronze chains.

Because Abysiel is positioned well above the ground, he is currently safe from any melee attackes. Only three narrow catwalks within his workshop provide a level footing and reach the center where Abysiel is located.

DC 15:

If somebody wants to climb the 20-foot ladders up to Abysiel, although it has no railings and is thus a very dangerous catwalk, he has to be acrobatic when moving across and would have to move slowly.

DC 20:

This is a dangerous catwalk, you can only move at half speed and it requires a DC 5 Acrobatics check (DC 10 to move at full speed). Anyone taking damage while standing on the catwalks must make an immediate DC 10 Acrobatics check or fall. Characters who fall may attempt a DC 15 Climb check to catch themselves, as per the Climb rules.

The machine looks like thousands of moving parts and reacts like a living being. Attacking the parts is possible but Jinath knows that this would lead to little damage to the grand device.

Jinath, you can change your action. It would be unfair to let you make an attack versus the machine.

With the puzzle of watery death solved, Meux starts flailing a bit in Lucious' arms,

"Alright, alright, let me down. Now, sir!"

He starts slapping water off of him in a small fit. Being so close to solving the conundrum has him going in a second level of fiery rage-not that he's ungrateful for the spectacles of sheer strength finally ending it, but to be so close and have the solution narrowly escape him every time is almost too much. Upon entering the room, he sees the minotaur and a bit of a bright spot opens up, as he sees a chance to feel and be useful in his healing administrations. That small bright spot was not meant to last, though, as the suspended elf-machine comes to life.
Almost unconsciously, Meux rattles off the hazardous specifications of the catwalk and all the dangers pertinent to traversing it.Twenty feet up, just out of reach of his burning hands, but a perfect spot to reach if he had not wasted his hedging weapons spell in the previous debacle. His mind snaps a bit.

You have 2 friends that are currently fascinated, (for an unknown duration) one that carries a longbow, and one who can heal-that can be shaken out of the condition with a standard action. That might be considered "of use in a fight."

No retcon of Lucious action but a good advice Meux! ;-)

If a character successfully identified the spell (see above DC 16 spellcraft) or makes a DC 16 perception OR heal OR sense motive check I would allow them to know that Meux and Inga (and potentially Jinath and Hadega) are fascinated and can be woken up with a standard action.

Would knowledge (arcana) help Hadega to realize what's happening to them? Knowledge (arcana): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

Hadega has no idea what this machine is or how dangerous it is to get up to it, but she manages to shake off the spell well enough. She looks around at the others staring, drooling up at the elven creature after it told them to drop their weapons.

If Hadega can help the fascinated individuals:

Hadega moves up and shouts at the others. "Look here, layabouts! We are in the midst of combat and you want to simply stand there dumbstruck. How can one expect to put forth their best efforts at hospitality if you can't even wipe the drool from your mouth. Really! And do NOT make me shake you out of this. It is undignified in the highest register!"

Perform countersong for the others.

PRD wrote:
Countersong (Su): At 1st level, a bard learns to counter magic effects that depend on sound (but not spells that have verbal components). Each round of the countersong he makes a Perform (keyboard, percussion, wind, string, or sing) skill check. Any creature within 30 feet of the bard (including the bard himself) that is affected by a sonic or language-dependent magical attack may use the bard's Perform check result in place of its saving throw if, after the saving throw is rolled, the Perform check result proves to be higher. If a creature within range of the countersong is already under the effect of a noninstantaneous sonic or language-dependent magical attack, it gains another saving throw against the effect each round it hears the countersong, but it must use the bard's Perform skill check result for the save. Countersong does not work on effects that don't allow saves. Countersong relies on audible components.

[ooc]Hadega's Perform (Oratory) is +7 and the others may reroll the save with her Perform bonus.

If Hadega is not able to identify the others are fascinated:

Hadega says to the elf, "You should stop this this instant! No host should ever be this rude to their guests. Horrid!"

Please everybody read the spell description without a spellcraft check as it will affect all your actions:

OBSCURING MIST

School conjuration (creation); Level cleric 1, druid 1, sorcerer/wizard 1

Casting Time 1 standard action

Components V, S

Range 20 ft.

Effect cloud spreads in 20-ft. radius from you, 20 ft. high

Duration 1 min./level (D)

Saving Throw none; Spell Resistance no

A misty vapor arises around you. It is stationary. The vapor obscures all sight, including darkvision, beyond 5 feet. A creature 5 feet away has concealment (attacks have a 20% miss chance). Creatures farther away have total concealment (50% miss chance, and the attacker cannot use sight to locate the target).

A moderate wind (11+ mph), such as from a gust of wind spell, disperses the fog in 4 rounds. A strong wind (21+ mph) disperses the fog in 1 round. A fireball, flame strike, or similar spell burns away the fog in the explosive or fiery spell's area. A wall of fire burns away the fog in the area into which it deals damage.

A misty vapor arises all around Abysiel. It is stationary. The vapor obscures all sight, including darkvision and makes ranged and melee attacks harder due to the concealment.

At the same time chains jump like a living being in front of Jinath and try to entangle him.

This now happens after you have taken your round 2 action: Jinath, please make DC 14 Reflex save - otherwise you are entangled (see spoiler) and only on your turn can try to slip free with a standard action and DC 20 Escape Artist check.

Entagled:
