I think the players enjoyed it. Especially the necromancer.

Anybody attending/volunteering at Gen Con in August?
Event sign-ups begin in an hour or so. I going with my wife and high school friend, renting an Air BnB place.
It's a little frustrating that I have to sign us up for scenarios now, even though I have no idea which scenarios I'll be GMing. Hopefully, I can switch their tables later to seat them at tables I'm running, once the organizers reveal the assignments.
Lazarus Logos |
Does the map accurately portray everyone's current position? I'm getting confused trying to reconcile the map with the posts at the moment. As I look at the map, Lazarus is the only PC that's entered the room with the hanging troll.
Brayden Valdrin |
Hmm, I know the enemy didn't hit, but I thought they would've been flat-footed, GM?
Brayden Valdrin |
No sweat. When running combat, I have done that exact same thing more times than I can count!
GM Ladile |
Yeahhh...remembering the 'flat-footed until your initiative' bit is something I have trouble with so please point it out when and if I do it again. I blame years and years of playing the much more rules-light AD&D 2nd Edition and very little 3.5 before my RL group made the jump to Pathfinder :\
Lazarus Logos |
Outstanding cinematic post, GM!
Disney/Marvel would do well to hire you!
(I think the mind-numbing Infinity Wars script was a Hollywood Pre-K class project.)
GM Ladile |
Aw shucks, thank you! I try what I can to make combat a little more exciting/entertaining :)
Dalen Stonestep |
Haven't seen it yet, but given the mess that was The Last Jedi, I've pretty much lost interest in most films. I would go more into it, but I need to finish posting and get to sleep. I gotta be back at work in about 7 hours.
Sǣran Imledrith |
Is there something I'm missing? Saeran was brought to -12 hp, Lazaros healed him for 8 hp, and that brings him back to -4 hp. Since he still has negative hp, he should be still unconscious...right?
GM Ladile |
Oh...I see the confusion! Saeran was initially brought to -2 (because the ghoul did a total of 12 damage to him) and then Lazarus' spell healed for 8 which should put Saeran at 6 HP. The -4 means you're currently minus 4 from your total of 10; it's my own way of keeping track of player health since, in my experience, players sometimes forget to adjust their health on their headers. Does that make sense?
Sǣran Imledrith |
Yep, problem solved. Will post my actions in a few hours.
GM Ladile |
I've discovered that one of my favorite parts of GMing is getting to chew the scenery (or ham it up, to use a similar phrase) with some of my bad guys and NPCs. So much freakin' fun to do :)
GM Ladile |
Okay folks, there's still some wrap-up to be done for continuity/story flow's sake but for all intents and purposes we are done with Faithless & Forgotten Part 1: Let Bygones Be! I'll be working on getting the game reported and chronicles uploaded a bit later today.
Do people want to take a short breather before we start the next part - a few days to maybe a week at the most - or would you all prefer we get rolling sooner? Either option is fine by me; I read over the next scenario a couple of times earlier so it shouldn't take me very long to do another refresher read and then get maps and slides ready to go. Just let me know! :)
Also, for ease of use we will continue to use the current Gameplay & Discussion threads rather than starting a brand new campaign for each scenario.
Lazarus Logos |
Could we start Part 2 on Saturday evening? Pat's PC will finish his campaign arc on Saturday afternoon.
Like the idea of keeping the same threads going.
GM Ladile |
Sure thing! In that case, we will officially start Faithless & Forgotten Part 2: Lost Colony of Taldor on the evening of Saturday, May 19th.
*edit* That doesn't mean that there won't be some posting happening in the interim, but the actual next scenario won't kick off until then :)
Brayden Valdrin |
I agree with waiting until Saturday, and with keeping the threads the same.
I believe we need to resolve Brayden's condition before the scenario officially ends, so do I spam Fort saves until I'm cured or die? Can others assist on each one?
GM Ladile |
Yep! Brayden contracted Ghoul Fever - Save Fort DC 13; onset 1 day; frequency 1/day; effect 1d3 Con and 1d3 Dex damage; cure 2 consecutive saves. The save DC is Charisma-based.
So Brayden needs to make his saves two days in a row or secure spellcasting services for a Remove Disease (or have a player cast it). I believe multiple people can assist with a Heal check for each of your saves - for example, Lazarus' successful heal check will give you a +4 on your next save. So if you want to go ahead and start rolling some saves and if people want to try and assist, please go ahead and make those rolls here or under a spoiler in Gameplay.
Meredith Ulmari |
Saturday is fine with me.
I need time to level up Meredith to level 4, anyway.
This will put her out of tier.
Dalen Stonestep |
Same here. Dalen levels after Part 2, though she'll still be in tier.
Also, I thought that conditions like Ghoul fever were considered to have been cured at the end fo a scenario just to avoid the hassle of trying to keep up with it.
Guisseppe "Lil Frankie" Franko |
Nah, you gotta resolve anything like a disease and poisons that can kill a character. Anything with con damage is not gud!
Frankie has an antiplague he will offer you if he sees you getting pretty sick, so feel free to take him up on it. I believe it just lets you make 2 saves in a day and take the higher one if you have already contracted the disease.
Oh, ya Saturday night is fine with me. And Frankie doesn't level up yet, still need another xp!
Lazarus Logos |
Lazarus will continue to be the attending physician for his samsaran-brother-from-another-mother.
Heal DC13 to Treat Disease: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
(Every time the diseased character makes a saving throw against disease effects, you make a Heal check. If your Heal check exceeds the DC of the disease, the character receives a +4 competence bonus on his saving throw against the disease.)
GM Ladile |
Okay folks, the game is reported and you can find your chronicles >>here<<. Please let me know if anything is incorrect and I'll get you an updated chronicle as soon as I'm able :)
GM Ladile |
Hey guys, since a little confusion about the state of the 'end' of this scenario was expressed to me, I wanted to share my response in the open since more than one of you might be feeling similarly. The gist of the confusion was: did the group miss something? Short answer is no. Longer, more nuanced answer is this:
It's interesting. The overarching theme of these three scenarios is less about individual sites that the group might visit and more about how Cheliax works to reshape the past to their own ends and just how far they'll go to preserve this narrative. While your activities in Emberhold and what you learned from Arenzo don't directly lead into your next mission, the fact that you've proven willing to uncover this hidden history in the first place does. Let's just say that you'll be seeing more of Zefiro Balinger, your friendly local historian, very soon.
I also know that there were a few smaller things that might have confused/frustrated since they seemed random and/or to go nowhere, such as the business with Zarta's note and the halfling dockmaster. Believe me, the group didn't miss anything and other events will become clear in time. Hopefully that helps to ease your mind a little bit :)
________
So, there's a method to the madness even if it doesn't seem all that clear at this moment. I hope that will help to clear up any confusion anyone might be having! Leading up to our official Saturday start I will be doing some transition posts to segue towards your next mission, as well as to allow Saeran his exit and Pat's character to make his/her appearance, so keep your eyes peeled.

Here's a transcription of the boon we received:
Ally of the green (3 boxes)
You have communed the fugitive leshys of Angelmire and demonstrated your respect for their humble treasures. As a parting gift, the leshy Harvest Stripe gave you three gourd seeds imbued with some of the leshys' primal magic. As a standard action, you can check on the boxes that precedes this boon and consume one of the seeds as if it were a goodberry, though the seed heals 1d4+1 points of damage. Alternatively, you can feed a seed to an adjacent plant creature to grant it 5 temporary hit points and the benefit of divine favor (CL 6th) for 1 minute. When you check the last box, cross the entire boom off your Chronicle sheet.
Meredith Ulmari |
No worries about this, GM. It seems clear to me that we'll be learning more and more about Chileax, and more about ourselves in the process.
My apologies if I type out too many RP posts in advance- leveling up tends to introduce a lot of opportunities for my characters to grow.
Meredith Ulmari |
Hi GM, do I qualify for this faction goal? We helped Mirelle escape the guard's watchful eye.
Defy local law or tradition in a way that assists you and your allies without endangering the mission or threatening innocent lives.
Dalen Stonestep |
Heh, a lot of Dalen's posts have been heavily RP driven. She's turning into someone more gruff than I had imagined her at first, but I guess growing up learning about undead monsters and how to kill them does make for a less happy-go-lucky character. I'm kinda hoping that will come back to her in the next part.
Guisseppe "Lil Frankie" Franko |
I won't be able to check the chronicle vs my records until I get home Thurs/Friday. Either way, thanks for the explanation, I assumed since this was a 3 mission thing that some of that first mission was setting the stage for the second two. Great work, you really do well telling the story, that ghoul really came to life.
GM Ladile |
That's fine, experience has taught me to keep an 'unsigned' copy of player chronicles (since they don't become unable to be edited until they're signed) just in case I need to go back and fix something - much quicker that way :)
And thanks, I'm glad you guys enjoyed this first part!
Lawrence Smith 2 |
I echo the sentiments of the other players and add my thanks for answering my request to run this mini-campaign arc. You're one of the top GMs out there, GM Ladile! Nobody delivers a story better, and all your extra time and effort takes the ordinary and makes it extraordinary.

Aw shucks...I learned a lot from watching all the great GMs I've had on the forums, both PFS and non-PFS :)
Also...
"I wonder what people taste like... "
If you ever decide to find out, I've got it on good authority that fava beans and a nice Chianti pair well with such things.
GM Ladile |
Derp, forgot to reply to Meredith's question! Yes, I would definitely count that as defying local law considering all the grief you guys gave those poor guards :3
Meredith Ulmari |
Thanks, GM.
And Dalen, don't worry about it. Encounters like these bring out different aspects in people.
Guisseppe "Lil Frankie" Franko |
Heh, I couldn't resist having Frankie ask that.. that's totally something a kid his age would ask in a situation like that. Dalen's response was right on point!
Glad to hear that faction goal can be counted, I have the same one to check off!
Brayden Valdrin |
Hey GM, I actually spent 149 gp on this chronicle but I can see how the way I'd written it earlier was confusing. Mind if I update this on the chronicle myself?
GM Ladile |
Go right ahead, I trust you :)
Also it's been thundering and raining here all afternoon and I've had the windows open...great and relaxing ambiance for doing some writing!
Guisseppe "Lil Frankie" Franko |
Looking through the Faction goals I think I'm going to check off the following one, it should apply:
Liberate one or more slaves, captives, or hostages during an adventure.
This gives me 2 goals completed and unlocks the following Faction Boon:
FREEDOM FIGHTER (2+ goals): Gain a +1 bonus on attack rolls and weapon damage rolls against known slavers. For the purposes of this reward, a slaver is a creature that owns at least five slaves, is maintaining a compulsion spell or effect to control a creature for at least one day, or is explicitly cited as trafficking slaves.
*EDIT
Frankie's chronicle should have day job gold added:
I also spent 4PP for the vanity to use Sleight of Hand for dayjobs, and bought a few things, the sheet should read:
Initial Prestige: 6
Gained: +2
Spent: -4
Initial Gold: 448.9
Gained: ?
Spent: -302.5g
Current: 146.4g + this chronicle's

Sorry for not being able to keep up with the story guys, but my moving took the majority of my time. Good luck with your next adventure!
GM, would you please mark me as inactive?
GM Ladile |
No worries Saeran, thank you again for playing and I hope all goes well for you in the future! (And of course I'll see you in our MM game, hehe.)
Frankie, I've hopefully got all the corrections made to your chronicle! The link to the folder is here.
GM Ladile |
Wonderful! I'm nearly out of time before I have to head to work but I'll continue to work on advancing us along to the official start of Part 2, hopefully when I get home tonight.
Lazarus Logos |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Indicated some purchases Lazarus would like to make for the next mission.
I just GMed a scenario in which no PC had the means to cope with deeper darkness. Reminded me that's it's high time to be prepared for that frequent tactical problem.
And a handy haversack, because a PC with 10 STR can quickly find himself weighted down by the most mundane but essential gear, and it's nice to retrieve what you need without provoking a clobbering by the bad guy standing next to you.
Guisseppe "Lil Frankie" Franko |
Ya, I should pick up that gem on Frankie as well, makes sense for him to have it imo as well. The haversack would be another good purchase but pretty soon 'Mom' will be carrying his heavier gear... like a stockpile of cocoa and syrup.
