We have emulated the Craftsman by making something, and the Shepherd by herding those frogs... What's left is the Thief, and also the Soldier, who shines a light into darkness..."

At that, Theo casts a spell by speaking arcane words...

"بزهرة الفجر المبارك ، قم بتألق نورك المقدس في هذا الظلام لإلقاء الضوء على الظلال."

Kellish:
"Blessed Dawnflower, shine your holy light into this darkness!"

Casts light.

The large ring on his left hand begins to glow as bright as a torch. He then walks toward the model of the city, shining the light among the shadows.

Ylva watched what was going with waning interest. They'd probably be here acting out all of the aspects if nothing happened, she figures. Perhaps it was the fey-blood her parents often had said ran through her clan's veins, perhaps it was some mischievous whim that had simply entered her head, or perhaps it was boredom. Whatever it was, Ylva slides up behind Zithembe trying to feign interest in the goings on. It doesn't really work that well since he's a half-foot taller than she is. She must have tipped her hand too soon since as soon as her hands go for his belt's buckle, she finds them knocked wide and herself open for reprisal as she stumbles back.

Uh-oh. Is this going to be embarrassing or painful?

Sits down, pulls out popcorn and hands some to Tupp

Season of Ghosts

While more of you begin to get into the spirit of things, taking notes and offering suggestions, Theodric decides to take a more direct approach and conjures a small light into the palm of his hand in the name of the Dawnflower. Holding it high, he carefully wades out into the pool a short distance and shines the light down on the miniature city. For a third time, a feeling of warmth washes over you all and fades away. Each of you feel a reassurance that when things seem at their darkest, the light of day will shield you from harm.

Everyone gains a +1 insight bonus to AC if you have taken damage since the start of your last turn.

Meanwhile, Ylva decides to liven things up a bit but quickly discovers that she's not quite as slick as she'd hoped...

So...you tried to pants him? *reaches for the popcorn as well*

Sylvak - You can find Theodric's explanation of the other three reliefs here, for reference. Kiango's post about the Craftsman is a few posts prior but Zithembe already fulfilled that one :)

He wants to write down what happened, but apart from not wanting to take his eyes off of the other, he's not even sure if it what caused the recent surge of power; was it Theodric's light or was it Ylva trying to... What was that!?

Though he had been watching the group's progress with interest, Uori frowns as Ylva's antics temporarily distract everyone from the miniature city.

"Ah...is this some sort of land-dweller ritual? I'm unfamiliar with many of your customs, you see," he asks, genuinely curious.

Ylva:

As you're trying to BS your way out of your failed prank, you notice Hepsubia scoop up a frog and discretely slip it down the back of Theodric's pants.

Theodric:

As everyone's gaze shifts to Ylva and Zithembe, you suddenly become aware of...something. A cold and wet sensation, from inside your pants?

____________

Sorry Theodric! Just pretend I didn't write that part. And sorry too to Sylvak for the slight confusion; I'll always try to make it really clear if there's the possibility that you can discover something or manipulate the environment in some manner.

Even Tupp knows Ylva wasn't after a fly, and he'll believe absolutely anything. "You could say that, Uori..." He says with a smile, finally figuring out the prank. In fact, Tupp's older brothers had done the same thing to him once or twice when he was growing up. "A sort of bonding ritual, I'd say." The fact that stealing Zethembe's belt might have enacted another blessing, however, continues to evade him. "But, guys... We really should be thinking about the fourth aspect. I'm not a big fan of stealing, though. I mean, the only thing I've ever stolen was a glance." He's definitely too distracted to notice whatever it is Hepsubia is up to.

____________

I'll give just a little more time for comments here before I roll you guys on towards the eastern tunnel that you expressed interest in earlier.

Season of Ghosts

You bid Uori goodbye for the time being and step slightly to the side to discuss which tunnel to investigate first. Sylvak suspects that the lizard creatures the gillman described are kobolds, sharing as much with his companions, but is unable to say for certain.

It'd actually be a (DC 10) Kn. Local check for kobolds, as they're humanoids.

With Kiango and Ylva both expressing more concern about the stench Uori reported from the right-hand tunnel, the group decides to venture in that direction first.

It isn't long before the air begins to grow stale and, just as Uori had said, the faint scent of decay hits your nostrils. As the group continues onward the stench only grows stronger until at last the tunnel turns slightly and ends in a small cavern. By now the stench is overwhelming and among the bits of rotting paper, shattered glass, and other trash that litter the cavern floor you can see what looks to be a man lying facedown near the back of the cavern. His clothes are torn and splattered with blood and he is quite clearly beyond all mortal help.

The question of what led to the man's demise quickly becomes apparent when four shambling figures slowly step out of the shadows and begin to approach the group. As the figures step into the light, you realize with a jolt that these creatures are people no longer; pale white bones draped in rotting rags clatter toward you, claws outstretched, with a malevolent red glow shining forth from empty eye sockets. No, these creatures are very much dead!

"Take care of Ylva," Zithembe calls out. "Tupp and I can deal with what is left--I believe."

Season of Ghosts

As Tupp looks on, horrified to see Ylva fall, Hepsubia springs into action and grabs her wounded companion to drag her out of the way. Kiango draws his healing wand and gives the fallen Ylva a tap with it as Hepsubia drags her clear of the fighting.

CLW (CL 3rd): 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Though still quite injured, it's enough to bring Ylva back to consciousness and her eyes flutter open to see the cavern ceiling as well as Kiango and Hepsubia peering at her anxiously. Sylvak reacts instinctively, trying to daze the closest skeleton with his magic but alas, it doesn't work!

TheodricBot steps forward behind Kiango and, raising his hand, flings a small bolt of fire at Red Skeleton!

Fire Bolt (Ranged Touch; Cover): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

Unfortunately it proves difficult to aim with people standing in the way and the bolt flies wide, impacting the wall of the tunnel and leaving a small scorch mark in its wake. The two remaining skeletons advance, clawing mindlessly at Zithembe and Tupp.

Distracted by his fallen comrade, Tupp completely messes up his parry and actually leans into the skeletons attack instead of brushing it aside. "Ugh!" He stumbles back and instinctively puts a hand to the bloody claw marks across his chest. Wide-eyed, the young halfling glances over to Ylva as she's being heroically dragged away from danger by Hepsubia, then back down at the surprising amount of blood on his hand, but he refuses to be beat. After a brief moment to compose himself, Tupp looks up defiantly at the skeleton in front of him. "Evil will never win..." A deep breathe. "ROOOOLLLING RIPOSTE!" Unsure how she feels about being used as a distraction, Sori waddles gingerly away from the front lines. That was way closer to a skeleton's face than she ever wanted to be and she needs a moment to regain her composure. So, as Ylva is being healed by Kiango, Sori takes the opportunity to hop onto her chest and sits down for a bit. The chicken stares down into Ylva's eyes as they flutter open, "Bok bok!" She clucks softly, her head quickly tilting from side to side. "Buk bok buh-gawk."

Season of Ghosts

Though quite injured by Red's attack, Tupp refuses to back down and spins about with his katana like a small whirling dervish, the blade connecting against Red's ribs with a resounding *CRACK!* And while the skeleton absorbs quite a bit of the blow, a large number of cracks can now be seen all along its bones!

Meanwhile Sori decides that discretion is the better part of valor and flutters away from the fighting to settle atop Ylva's chest. She uses some of her divine magic to grant Ylva a little dose of guidance and common sense for her next escapade.

Kiango continues to work to heal Ylva's wounds as Hepsubia draws out a vial of holy water and heaves it at the Orange Skeleton, clocking it right between the eyes and splashing the water everywhere! Orange does indeed partially dissolve under the onslaught of positive energy, bones clattering to the cavern floor. Red too collapses, the residual splash of the holy water having been just enough to finish it off as well!

Combat Over!

With the skeletons taken care of, you now have a chance to give the small cavern and the bodies within in a proper look. The skeletons carry nothing but the torn and ragged clothes they were wearing when they died as well as their broken armor and weapons. However, the body of the man lying at the back of the cavern is a different story.

Kn. Local (DC 10):

As you turn the body over, the man's eerie good looks and slightly elongated incisors mark him as a dhampir - a being that is part vampire and part human.

As you rifle through the man's robes, you come across a scribbled note.

Hasty Note:

The location is perfect - just close enough to observe the comings and goings of these fish men but far enough removed from the main cavern to have the privacy needed for my work. I have already created three good servants from these fish people so far and have made all the preparations to create a fourth. With the frequency that these fish people visit the caverns I will have a proper army in no time!

The creation of my fourth servant will differ from that of the first two; a recently-discovered spell that is guaranteed to infuse the body with greater speed and strength. The writing on the scroll was rather difficult to make out - 'klaatu barada...?' The final word of the incantation still eludes me but I feel that I am close to finally deciphering it...

In addition to the bizarre note, you also discover a couple of items of interest scattered among the trash and other debris littering the cavern's floor - a small freshwater pearl and a longsword that appears to be, rather surprisingly, in pristine condition.

Spellcraft (DC 16):

The pearl is actually a Pearl of Power (1st).

Spellcraft (DC 18):

This sword is a +1 Longsword.

Perception (DC 20):

As you're looking around the cavern, you find that a northern section of the cavern wall seems to be slightly off in color from the rest. By gently pushing against it you reveal a secret tunnel that disappears into darkness.
