I can't say I've ever experienced the other rules, but I imagine they're mostly a bit cumbersome. >_>

Marvel Manyshot |

Delay disease would be great as well, being as my wife has to hand in a 40 page assignment on Friday and now has to take care of the girls in addition to writing. But unless we find a scroll that one is probably too high level as well.
Either way, thanks :-)

GM Kamro |

Here are the results of the Harrowing. Sorry about the glare, did this during lunch at work and the florescent lights did me no favors.
The Choosing (in order of posting)
Nicholas Sparrow: The Dance
Aerel Thelon: The Rabbit Prince
Shaeda Stormborn: The Crows
Emma Holt: The Cricket
Marvel Manyshot: The Juggler
Two Keys cards showed up in the Harrowing, including the Rabbit Prince. That means everyone gets a total of 3 Harrow Points, except for Aerel who gets 4.
Zellara will interpret the possible meanings of the cards in the Campaign thread.

I'm feeling like I am posting more frequently than others, and feel bad about it - in explanation I would say that I am on break, and will have less time next week, after I go back to school. Also, my apologies if it feels like I'm pushing things faster than others can react to.

Marvel Manyshot |

Thanks folks. I've begun eating again and as long as the painkillers work I'm doing ok, although I'm thinking about 4 times slower than I ususally do - and I quite agree with Emma, Aerel. I post a LOT between 19:00 and 22:30 Faroese time, because that's about the only time I'm online while the rest of you aren't guaranteed to be working or sleeping. Being as we generally have around 4 times more holidays here than in the US as well, I'll probably also be apt to post A LOT from time to time.

Emma Holt |

Glad you are eating! Due to the shift that I work at a warehouse my hours are all over the place. Sometimes I am able to post at work, depending on how slow we are but that is a rarity. Mostly it is around this time. Usually and hour or two before and two hours from now. Then around 10 hours from now when I am at home. That can last about two to six hours if I cannot sleep.
I have one game were everyone is mostly in my time zone and they all have day jobs. I will come home from work to anywhere from no posts to over twenty. That is just the nature of PbP.

Aerel Thelon |

While Knowledge skills are usually trained only, I make an exception for Local if it's in regards to an area you have lived in for a long time.
Ooh. This is something I like. (It makes sense, too, 'cause I've been thinking about how Aerel wouldn't know a lot about Korvosa, having lived here for longer than anyone else. xD)

Marvel Manyshot |

Haha - Marvel will probably stand quite isolated in regards to his high esteem of Abadar in this group :-D I'm looking forwards to seeing how a very Lawful good Abadorian lawyer will fare in this composition of people in the long run :-)

Aerel Thelon |

Aerel feels distinct disdain for Abadar, and actively dislikes his church in Korvosa, because they uphold the power of the powerful and aid in the oppression of the poor.
Hm, speaking of which, is slavery legal in Korvosa? Or did that particularly charming facet of Chelaxian society come about post-Thrune takeover?

Marvel Manyshot |

Speaking from a real life point of view Abadar is my least favorite good aligned God, but that's probably what makes it so interesting playing one of his followers. So while Marvel might take offense at anyone dissing Abadar, personally I certainly won't. One of my more conservative (and absolutely brilliant) lecturers when I studied in Scotland called me "the rabid lefty", which probably is as apt a description as any.

GM Kamro |

James Jacobs to the rescue once more!
It's illegal in Korvosa, which isn't the same as saying it doesn't exist.
As for Abadar, I read that he's actually against slavery, because he believes it is far better for society as a whole if the workforce is paid, since then they can participate in the economy. He's willing to tolerate it, but only because he believes it will eventually die out.

Abadar is LN, but he does have paladins working for him.

Aerel Thelon |

Abadar isn't actually good aligned, though. He's lawful neutral. The conservative LG god is Erastil, who's a hidebound, traditionalist prick, but whose heart is in the right place. Abadar is the sort of god who's all about civilization, and if a few people live in crushing poverty, well, at least it's better than everyone living like savages!
More seriously, Abadar definitely leans more towards good than Asmodeus, who is similar to him, only more extreme.

Good to know that the Guard won't come crashing down on us for breaking any slavers' bones. Or skulls.

Right, right. Whereas Callistria has antipaladins (though I would not be surprised if Abadar had some tyrants, now that the archetype is out - it's possible that they'd be taken with Asmodeus more than him, I guess?). Funny, that.
I have to say that Calistria represents a lot that I disagree with, but she's the nominal head elven goddess, so... Aerel respects her, after a fashion.

Marvel Manyshot |

I've slept the entire day, so I'm not particularly sleepy. Also I've been helping my wife write a bit on her assignment now that I'm able to think again (if slowly) - but the painkillers are wearing off, so I'll take the slightly stronger one now and that one should make me sleepy as well. So I'll be going to bed just about now... hate the thought of painkillers, but I can't argue with their effect.
Either way - good night! :-)

Regarding knowledge checks, I know there's somewhere in the rules that any DC 10 Knowledge check can be taken untrained. Can't find it at the moment though.

For easy to know things (DC under 10)

Aerel Thelon |

I've got a +6 Diplomacy, in case you guys trust me to do the talking!
Trust? Not yet. Willing to accept? For now. :P

Marvel Manyshot |

"Sending kids to Cayden, that... that drunkard and good for nothing! What should they teach the children - to drink and let all the others do the work needed to uphold civilization and better our society!?! To scandalously run around after the opposite sex (or Abadar forbid, the same)? Cayden! Pffft!"
Marvel doesn't like Cayden, if anyone should wonder :-D

Marvel Manyshot |

There's a page about Korvosa's religions...
Abadar preserve us! That section on Asmodeus O_O
"... Its members take pains to operate on the right side of the law; only volunteers are sacrificed to their deity."

Emma Holt |

"Actually Marvel the follower of Cayden have orphanages all across Golarian and they do not teach young children to drink. The Lucky Drunk does not condone the abuse of alcohol, nor do his followers. Drinking should only be done in celebration and responcably. Nor does he avocate whorish behavior. That is Calistra. He advocates freedom."
Fun fact many of those orphanes who do not have a family name take the name Cayden.

Emma Holt |

I have a cleric of Cayden in a Second Darkness game that just started. There is also an Inquisitor of Abadar. When he started going on about the virtues of Abadar our rouge basically doubled over laughing at him. I actually do not mind Abadar but he gets a bad rep as a gold whore kind of like Cayden as a booze whore.
And I like Aroden too :)

Aerel Thelon |

Aroden never really appealed to me, honestly. Too... narrowly focused for my taste, I guess.
EDIT: I'm awake now, by the by. xD

Marvel Manyshot |

Oh God - I'm turning into a bad tempered old git already at 27!
Just had a loooong discussion with my wife concerning the horribly low quality of modern pop music, and how the youth of today is being turned into imbeciles by the artistically s+!*ty lyrics, reality television, social media and the likes. Probably quite natural in that regard that I'm switching from Cayden to Abadar, haha :-D
But I get what you both are saying. What really intrigues me with Aroden is a PC worshipping a demonstrably dead god, as well as the mystery surrounding him, the age of lost omens and the like. I hope I'll learn what happened to him before I'm too old to understand what people say, but I like the mystery so I'm not in a hurry to learn the truth here and now.
Abadar really has a lot of admirable traits as well - in many ways he seems like a deification of the Lutheran work ethics - and it is too easy to portray him as being all about gold, overly conservative and the likes, but at the same time, that can be quite fun as well :-)
EDIT - Pies always mean that all is good!

It's not... wrong? :P Speaking as someone who's 21.

I think it's more effective to leave any answers to that question unofficial, so you can make it up at your table.

Bolding mine. Now I know why I dislike him so! :P

Nicholas Sparrow |

I haven't explored much past Desna and Shelyn.

Marvel Manyshot |

Marty Robbins without a beard looks just like Agent Mulder O_o
And might just be that I didn't exactly defend Abadar with that statement, haha :-D Everyone here in the Faroes is either a Lutheran or *gasp and horror!* a non-believer, so Lutheran work-ethics are kind of the standard in most of the population. My father even runs the Ministry of Churches, so I've sort of grown up with the notion of that being the basis of how our kind of society can function and all that, which also might be why I see Abadar as embodying that kind of societal outlook :-)
I've only really played followers Desna and Shelyn as a GM, but I especially like Desna.

Aerel Thelon |

Shelyn is probably my favorite Golarion god. I mean, not that that's saying much. For some reason I don't really care that much for the gods of Golarion...
