Piazo's back~!

Aerel Thelon |

"We have not known each other that long Aerel. Just a few months is all."
To explain why Aerel was being careful from an OOC perspective: Emma's 16, and human - she's still changing incredibly quickly by the standards of elves. I want to wait to let others post before accelerating past them, though.

Emma Holt |

I get it and it is fine but Emma still thinks it it weird. It is not something she can really wrap her head around. For a short lived race it is difficult to see things from a long lived races perspective. And the flip side is true as well.
It seems like a really fun thing to play too. I will eventually have to play a elf or some really long lived critter. I just realized I lean heavily on playing youths. Even in an all dwarf game I am the youngest by quiet a bit.
And I am more than fine with waiting for the others. I still think we are missing the other female of the group.

Aerel Thelon |

Yeah, it's something I'll enjoy playing up, I think, with Aerel. He's older than the Age of Lost Omens, and could've met a cleric of Aroden when that god was alive. His fist Harrowing was at a time before prophecy became unreliable and fickle, and he's lived in Korvosa since the start of its monarchy. It's a fun, dissonant sort of perspective.

... I said this, then forgot to have him reply! The perils of sleep, and all that.

God - my head is absolutely blasted, but I'll try and jump in. Woke up sick this morning and I've had students up for exams the past 9 hours straight. I miss the good old days when I was at the other side of the table!

Get well soon. I hate this time of year, I feel like I'm in a constant cycle of "getting sick"/"being sick"/"just over being sick".

Marvel Manyshot |

Feel better soon! I think I am almost over mind and it has cycled through the whole house. Hopefully only once! I miss sleep.
Thanks :-)
If it's the same diseases you have going over there as we do here in the Faroes, then they should only cycle through once each, although especially the flu we had going often lead to infections in the throat/lungs as well. My wife was sick 4 weeks straight, losing most of Christmas, so I often ended up just going into the girls' room once they woke up, taking them out of bed, taking out some toys, closing the door and then just laying down to sleep some more in their bed in order to get just a bit more sleep. Usually got an extra hour or two that way, although the room looked as though a storm had been through when I woke up :-D

Emma Holt |

No harm no foul Shaeda. I did call you an imp so sorry about that. It was fun. Gonna go with local.
Winter illness sucks Marvel. No clue what I have but sleep evades me. I hope you and the little ones get to feeling better though.
Edit: Or did you mean the newest one Sheada? This is going to be fun!

Marvel Manyshot |

Auch - I've only reallly experienced insomnia once after flying back home from San Francisco. Had a jetlag for 2 weeks or so, sleeping 1 - 5 hours a night. I was reading Game of Thrones at the time, so I ended up quite literally seeing Lannister armies and the likes marching in my peripheral vision. Quite an unpleasant feeling, if rather interesting.

Aerel Thelon |

I feel like Aerel is going to end up feeling like he has a bunch of children, at this rate.
Also, my sympathies on the lack of sleep. I know how badly that can screw your day up.

Aerel Thelon |

A question for the GM: do you have any preferences for which real world languages we use for equivalents for our languages?
Like, I've seen Varisian as a variety of Eastern European (Google-Translated) languages, etc. This is what I was thinking of using for elven, etc.

Marvel Manyshot |

My vote is for Finnish as Elven - one of the primary languages Tolkien used for inspiration for Elven, and it sounds quite a lot like I imagine Elven does. Icelandic would probably make a great Dwarven. I'd imagine Romani would be a perfect fit for Varisian - at least I've always seen them as Golarion's Roma people.

Nicholas Sparrow |

My hopes that you all get well. I myself have many strange things about my immune system, to the point that I rarely notice getting sick since I don't show symptoms. I guess I had a bad one this winter, when my voice got scratchy for a few days. Doctors hate me.
As for my schedule, I usually sleep from 8am-4pm eastern standard time on weekdays, so I'll be less active then (though I did dream of posting here last night; trauma from being off the site for a day :) ). Love that I wake to so much content! :)

The Varisians are absolutely the Roma or the Vistani, for the Ravenloft fans.

Well, the main issue I could foresee there would be not having easy access to Romani machine "translators" (I would dispute the veracity of that term, but there ya go). We also shouldn't try too hard to decide such analogues - do any of our characters actually speak Dwarven? xD

Nicholas Sparrow |

There are several places that translate to full Elvish (usually Tolkien).

Aerel Thelon |

That is both surprising and awesome. I feel like Ænglisc is very much closer to German than it became. xD

Heh - surprised that a language like Icelandic is included when Romani isn't, but Wikipedia informs me that Romani is broken up into several distinct languages, with the largest only containing 600.000 speakers. So I suppose it makes sense.

Probably not, but I speak Icelandic! ... right. Not the most valid argument :-D
And on that note I'll be heading towards bed. More students up for their exam tomorrow - luckily I only had to fail two today, so hopefully tomorrow's bunch will have a similar quality :-)

Whatever you guys want to do is alright with me, as long as you can provide me with a way to translate it back.

Yup! I'd put it in a spoiler down beneath, for characters who understand it, and the GM. xD

Yeah, sleep well. It's like, midnight there, so you should sleep, especially if you're ill!

Shaeda Stormborn |

I got busy and so much stuff happened! Sheada that made me laugh rather loudly. Thank you.
Don't worry, Shaeda won't razz you about it.
My pleasure with the humor!

GM Kamro |

Here's where we get to play with the APs optional system, the Harrowing.
Each chapter of this AP, you get to perform a Harrowing in which you can get something called Harrow Points, which can be spent for various bonuses throughout the chapter.
Each chapter is associated with one of the "suits" of the Harrow Deck, for this one it's Keys, which represents Dexterity.
Zellara took the 9 Keys cards out of the deck, and you each get one if you want. Then she will do a full Harrowing and interpret them to foresee the future.
You get 1 Harrow Point for taking a card (so everyone is guaranteed at least 1), 1 each for every Keys card that shows up during the Harrowing, and an extra 1 if the card you chose shows up in the Harrowing.
Throughout this chapter, you can spend a Harrow Point to do the following:
Dexterity Rerolls: A PC can spend a Harrow Point to
reroll an initiative check, Reflex save, attack roll modified
by Dexterity, or Dexterity-based check. The PC must abide
by the new result (although if he has additional Harrow
Points, he can use them for additional rerolls).
Dodge Bonus: A PC can spend a Harrow Point to gain a
+1 dodge bonus to his Armor Class for one encounter. He
can spend up to 3 Harrow Points per encounter to increase
his Armor Class in this manner.
Speed Increase: A PC can spend a Harrow Point to
increase his base speed by 10 feet for one encounter.
In Addition: The card you chose from Zellara has a special effect in a specific encounter during this chapter that will affect only you. I won't tell you what these are in advance, to avoid spoilers, but when the encounter starts I'll tell you what your extra bonus is.
As for how we're going to do this, I have an actual Harrow deck to draw from. More practical than using dice, since the first roller would have to roll 1d9, the second 1d8, etc, and that gets confusing. Also, I bought the thing, might as well get some use out of it :). I'll post pics.

It might be a good idea to put those in the campaign tab, too. Just so we don't have to go searching for them after another... five posts. >_>
Also, damn, but I can go zippy-fast with this. Up to 50 ft. per round at level one? Sure, why not? xD

Sure thing. In fact, I may post the effects in the Campaign Info tab, just so it's extra easy to find without searching for posts.

Seems better than the rules for Caravans, Rebellions, Ships, etc, in short the optional rules from the other APs, except for Kingdom Making
