If you don't like those, we can choose some other and assign bonuses as proper. Btw, that number in the brackets represents how difficult the skill is to improve. Bigger the number, more improvement points it takes to inicrease the skill level.

Ok...so because Boone has an 8 in martial arts, he can take 8 points in any of these styles, say Aikido (3), and Thai Boxing (4) and boxing (1) or whatever combo I want?

ok..I am confused...what does a level 8 in martial arts mean?? Do those pluses for styles increase each time you take them (So I could take 2 levels in Thai Boxing, or 8 levels in judo??) I am just not too sure how it works. I would like to mix 2 styles if possible....Aikido and Thai Boxing...how can I do that...or is it not possible?

It means level 8 in one martial art. The pluses is a bonus you add for that specific attack when you roll d10.
Not immediately, unless you want to switch one of your skills with another martial arts skill. All martial arts skills are taken separately.

I thought the original buy for the martial art was paid for at the increased rate too (I could be wrong though). I'm thinking Aikido or wrestling for my character.

Also I have a lot coming up over the next two days, by the weekend I should be cleared up though.

Nope the original by is point for point. Increasing later costs a loooot more. Ok, no problem. We still have to get everyone to do skills and then i have to find the time to type traits out.

Yes.

Now for traits, they would be like feats, and would provide a small bonus to a certain, specific use of a skill or something else, like counting the body 2-3 points higher for purposes of lifting things or increasing the BTM by 1 or some such stuff.

Here's a preliminary list:

- Toughness - Add 2 points to light wound state and 1 point to serious wound state (can be taken up to 3 times).
- Powerful - Count Body as 2 points higher for purposes of lifting and carrying objects, can be taken twice.
- Expert - Add +1 to a specific use of a chosen skill, can be taken multiple times, different skills or different uses of a single skill
- Shrug off - Add 1 to your body type modifier
- Lucky - Can re-roll a save once a day and take the better result

Here...sorry was away for a few days at a course for work!! I am leaning towards the trait Toughness. As for the martial arts, still a little confused on how it works (points vs cost) but I wil put all 8 points into Thai Boxing. So if I get this right...if I strike a person I get 8+3?

Yes, and when you roll for damage, you add 8 to it.

So, normally, to advance a skill to level 9 would take 40 improvement points, for thai boxing it takes 160, the number in the brackets is the IP multiplier.

I don't condone this, but if you have no problem with doing this, you can download Cyberpunk 2020 core rulebook off a torrent or warez, everything is awesomely explained there.
