Claude Basil was born to a couple of sinless Irish druggie smugglers working out of London. While hard on their luck a young corp looking to make the correct "family image" without the disadvantages of an actual spouse offered to 'adopt' one of their couples twins for several thousand euros.
For Claude it turned out to be a change for the better, even as he hated leaving his brother behind. He took to the corporate world with a good mix of respect and savvy on how to keep out of trouble... but in excitement at the same time.
As he grew older his 'father' pushed him to go into a "respectable field -- like the military". This was partly out of fondness for the boy, but also so that he could have an in when it came to military contracts. Claude tested in to officer candidacy school (which thrilled his father) and made a solid friend and mentor in one of his teachers, an old German officer (LTC Eichel Ret.) who helped him get a liaison position with a German unit of the EDF.
During this tour he hooked up with one of the female German officers (one Captain Adala Braht). While this worked well for a small time eventually her demands on his time and attention started to cause problems as did her constant insecurities and jealousy. It was with relief he returned to England before the situation could blow up.
Upon arriving home and checking back in with his new unit he found himself confronted with a man that had instructions for him in a package of information...
