Hi there! Welcome to the Starfinder scenario SFS 1-00 - Claim to Salvation (Lvl 4 Pregens) which will start on or slightly after Aug 25, 2017 as part of PBP Gameday VI)
Pregens will be made available as soon as I get the scenario. I will post a short blurb about each pregens so you can give me your preference.
I first want to get the house rules out of the way so we have a common understanding. I assume you will have read this.
Please take notice of the following:

GMG |

JAF0: how many games are you playing in simultaneously? Not that I mind, just being curious.

JAFO's pregen alias |

GMG - about 20 I think... several that I'm listed in are actually GDIV so not active yet or are closed down but still on the active list because the GM forgot to close them.

GMG |

Note that I will be on holiday until 7 August and very likely without any internet connection for that period. I don't think it matters for this game, but you never know.

GMG |

The pregens have arrived here. We will use the 4th lvl versions. Please pick one and post here which one you choose and include the character sheet in a alias.
Thanks!

JAFO's pregen alias |

I'm interested in playing Raia the Technomancer... if someone else is really attached to that, I could switch to Iseph the Operative.
Will work on the sheet for Raia as a default later today, under this same alias.

Can you answer the following questions (see also the SFS Guide)?
1) What is your SFS-ID (I assume xxxx-701)?
2) What faction do you want to to gain reputation for? This is likely the faction you will take / have taken as your lvl 1 faction.
3) Do you want to apply this chronicle to a 1st lvl character or will you wait for lvl 3 to apply the chronicle (which is 3-4)?

GMG |

Im interested, though if it is taken, I'll be on wait list.
Bah, ninja'd.
It seems GM Blake might have some open spots, see this post

GMG |

eddv: welcome!
Pregen preferences:
Jaf0: Technomancer
eddv: Envoy
Blake: Solarian
Shifty: Operative
RePete: undecided
Psyblade: undecided

1) What is your SFS-ID? 52335-701
2) What faction do you want to to gain reputation for? Dataphiles
3) Do you want to apply this chronicle to a 1st lvl character or will you wait for lvl 3 to apply the chronicle (which is 3-4)? I'll wait and apply it to 3rd lvl.

I will be traveling from Saturday morning until Weds. night (driving up north to see the eclipse). I will try to check in at least once a day, but if I miss a post time, please feel free to bot me to keep the flow going. I don't want to hold up the game.
Shouldn't affect this game which doesn't start til the 25th, just posting this in all my games... just in case.

okay - I have to make a change! I accidentally deleted my 701 character when I went to edit him. I don't know yet if Paizo will be able to restore that number, so now, I'm going to be reporting this scenario as follows:
1) What is your SFS-ID? 52335-702
2) What faction do you want to to gain reputation for? Dataphiles
3) Do you want to apply this chronicle to a 1st lvl character or will you wait for lvl 3 to apply the chronicle (which is 3-4)? I'll wait and apply it to 3rd lvl.

I GMed my first starfinder game (the quest series) yesterday and we had a lot of fun, I hope I can translate that to PbP!
Shifty: no worries, we are not in a strict schedule for this, thanks for the reminder!

See this post by Tonya for restoring a deleted number. If you manage to do that during this game we will assign credit to your -701.
Because the welcome to Starfinder Boon has been released in that same message, everybody who assigns credit to -701 will receive that boon when I make the chronicles.

i emailed them already (per instructions from customer svc... ) still waiting for a response.

GMG |

"Bad Poog!" ;-)
No problem Eddv, hope you had fun! I will see if we can recruit a sixth player.

GMG |

Welcome Enchanter Tim, please make your way to gameplay!

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Having played the Quest line and participated in Starship combat as a Science Officer (with a GM who did not realize you could change roles round to round), I would recommend Science Officer as a secondary role.
Anyone with Engineering or Computers is going to be useful as an Engineer after the first round of combat.
Science Officer is good for determining what you're fighting (a la knowledge checks on ships using scanners) on the first round, but after that, restoring shields, charging weapons, or boosting engines is going to be more valuable than changing the crit range from 20 to 19-20.
Just advice.

I will be attending Strategicon from Friday through Monday... Will be able to make limited posts, but not reliably nor frequently... I will try to keep up with at least one post a day, but no guarantees. Please bot me as needed to keep up the pace of the game, thanks.

Next part is space combat. This is my first space combat through PBP. The main challenge that I see is the role of the captain, as she can aid on any one roll.
I think it works best if the captain specifies up as soon as possible what she wants to aid with, gives me the roll in a spoiler and I attach it to the roll when it comes up.
Another thing is switching roles: you can do that each engineering phase. We will do that a bit more organically: when you want to switch roles you put that in a post and the next engineering phase you then switch to your new role. I will hold the action for a bit after resolving each gunnery phase so you have time to assess the situation and if a role switch is required.
Here is what the scenario says about the pregens and their starship roles:
The 4th-level Starfinder Society pregenerated characters are best suited for the following starship roles.
Altronus: This kasatha solarian serves as a modest captain but has few other starship-relevant skills beyond being a backup gunner.
Iseph: This android operative is the best pilot, but would also make a good science officer or engineer.
Keskodai: This shirren mystic does not particularly excel at any role on a starship, but would make a decent captain or science officer.
Navasi: This human envoy can serve in any role on the starship well but is best suited as the captain, pilot, or science officer.
Obozaya: This vesk soldier is best as a gunner but would also make for a fine—if domineering—captain via use of the Intimidate skill.
Quig: This ratfolk mechanic makes an excellent engineer or science officer.
Raia: This lashunta technomancer makes a good engineer, science officer or pilot.
Last piece of advice: appoint two gunners

Blake's SF Iconic |

Obozaya should be the main gunner.
Keskodai's Diplomacy is the same as Altronus', so I'll switch him to secondary gunner if Keskodai is willing to Captain. Though we can go Captainless and just have two Engineers.

JAFO's pregen alias |

Raia will take the science officer's tasks for now.

GMG |

I also intend on using a 'minor action:gunnery' in the gunnery phase if we have a spare system unused... should I be posting that yet?
Altronus and Obazaya are performing gunner actions this round. Therefore you are not able to take a gunnery minor action:
Minor crew actions are computer-aided actions that allow a starship limited functionality if it doesn’t have the necessary crew to fill all the roles (for instance, the lone crew member aboard a Tiny starship might always be the pilot but may need to fire one of the vessel’s weapons in an emergency). You can take a minor crew action regardless of your current role, but only if no other action was performed this round for the role associated with that minor crew action. A minor crew action can be performed only once per round and doesn’t count as your action.
