Scratcher kills one of the ghouls and points at the other one as if saying "You're next!.
Sandara's eyes connect with Scratcher. Her limbs do not move and she seems to be on the verge of panicking. Jake is struggling to keep standing on the small note that is under his feet.
Emmet screams at the grindylow and makes rude gestures towards her. She seems to think twice before diving deeper.

Let's talk about our next actions a little before I take mine: Tori, can you rescue Jake? He's one square away from comparatively solid ground where you and Emmet are. Is there some way he can be heaved over to behind Emmet? If it helps to know this any, my solid note will last for 2 more rounds after I stop concentrating on it (which would otherwise be eating up my actions). DM, those questions go to you as well for adjudication purposes, as well as, is my dolphin entangled?
Tori Petrana |
The map is a little cluttered, if Jake is in an adjacent square I can certainly see what I can do. I'm assuming that pulling him to safety is a standard action, if there is a roll necessary please let me know, GM.
Xasay Xyu |
Well, he's definitely adjacent to you (right above you - slightly scruffy dark-haired human male).
GMG |
Standard for pulling Jake in seems right. I forgot to roll reflex for dolphin; let's assume it is not entangled

Tori pulls Jake to safety. Xasay's directs his dolphin to rescue their friend, but while doing that it comes within reach of the undead. It slams once and the shadow dissolves...
Xasay points his wand, only to receive a nasty grin of the grindylow. She throws her harpoon through the water, scoring a vicious wound! Just when you are glad that the weapon is out of her hands it magically returns to her hands!
The undead bites and claws again at the Scratcher but misses with all its attacks. Finally the octopus tries to bite Vagantem. The bite misses, but the groping tentacles manage to connect and start to constrict the sylph!

Read the effect of cause fear again - it's still shaken for 1 round on a successful saving throw (hence the grindylow probably wouldn't be giving me a nasty grin, as it would not be feeling all that triumphant even though it made its save).

Now in a spot of trouble, Xasay conjures another one of his fearsome eagles, which dives at the grindylow!
Conjuring a shadow celestial eagle, which Smites Evil (which I'm pretty sure the grindylow is, subtract 1 from damage rolls if not), DC 16 Will save to reduce it to 20% reality. Incidentally, regarding helping friends with shadow puppets, I would point out that anyone can voluntarily fail/forgo a saving throw.

Jake was already at the surface, he was rescued by Tori
You search the place for treasure and find some nice items. Sandara gets her holy item back. She calls on Besmara to heal everyone.
After you have made all the required notes for the Society you head back to the ship. Captain Darrel and his crew have made good progress with repairing the ship. He sends out a few man to get fresh water from the well you found. You have some time to rest and reflect on your experience on the island before the ship will depart. Sandara treats the wounds of Scratcher, removing the infection that was caused by the underwater ghoul.
Well done! I dreaded that final combat (also because of the 3D), but you handled it well!
Handwaving the disease, Sandara has lesser resto to remove the con damage and sufficient heal to assist in the required checks.

Grisaia |
"It's so nice to meet new companions. My name is Grisaia, servant of the Eternal Rose." The half-orc woman is dressed in fine mithral armor adorned with roses, although closer examination reveals the thorns form sharp spikes. "I have some requisitions to make from market before we begin, but it should not be an issue."
Will scan chronicles and spend GM credit gold once I get back from my afternoon class. Shouldn't be too much of an issue.
GMG |
The craven has sailed to the port of Drenchport. Its storm-lashed buildings are built of waterlogged driftwood and flotsam from wrecked ships.
The ship is repaired, which takes a couple of days. In these days Grisaia suddenly stands at the quay. She has a message for Vagantem, who takes his leave. The decemvirate has thought to bring a replacement in the person of the half-orc woman.
The captain comes to you before you set sail again "I will sail past the town of Lillywhite. I have agreed with Benarry that I will put you on shore there."
You set sail again and after a week of sailing you come near the greatest island in the Shackles; Motaku Isle. Lillywhite is located on its western end.
The town curves along the shoreline of Motaku Isle, spreading across bridges to a few small islands sitting in the deep-blue bay. Small, well-made wooden buildings ring the harbor. Festive flower and palm-frond garlands hang from various buildings, bridges, and statues. Vessels of varying shapes and sizes jam nearly all the town’s long piers, and the great number of ocean-going ships lying at anchor render the outer harbor nearly impassible. You say your farewells and a boat brings you ashore.
Throngs of revelers, many wearing masks, carouse through the town while singing and drinking from frothing tankards. A tall Mwangi man with close-cropped graying hair wearing a large orange mask that depicts a laughing man’s face stands on the quay where you have just come ashore.
As he addresses you, his voice is cheerful and boisterous “Welcome to the town of Lilywhite, favored home of Cayden Cailean! You find us in the midst of our annual Rum Punch Festival—a truly blessed time for all! If there is any way that I can help you, please let me know. My name is Anyabwile Saabwa.”
"We know next to nothing about the ancient Ghol-Gan empire. Anything you can turn up from that age will be very interesting. I probably don't have to remind you that there are also several legends of treasure. You might need to make a bit of a name for yourselves before you can interest the free captains to allow a lodge on one of the islands, so keep an eye open for everything."
Team, please introduce yourself to Grisaia

"It looks like this Rum Punch festival might be just the thing to get in good with the locals like the VC wants. Plus, I could use a few stiff drinks after that island."
Emmett Lathrop |
"Oh yah, hey! Name's Emmett, and sure, we are happy to help the Society here."
Upon hearing about the festival, he continues. "Yah, fun... some fun is in order. We need to relax after that bit of trouble. A rum punch festival sounds like just the ticket."
