Darius Redgrave |

"Look who's here. Mind if we join them?" Darius asks Jominda.
Do you mean me? Cos I know. I just wanted to get Jominda to come along anyway. :)

Stam Truthfinder |

"Sorry I am being overly vague, I am on my way to Lepidstadt to study at the university. I have always like to solve mysteries, seems like you have one here. There has to be more to this story than you can tell me, I assume your not doing this alone and that you have some friends going with you?"
After Darius arrives, Stam turns to greet him.
"good day, I assume your a friend of Grergof's? My name is Stam."

Jominda Fallenbridge __ |

If she takes your arm and points you the direction you can write yourself into the inn.
"Sure." Jominda replies and walks to the table "Hello. Mind if we join you?" Expecting a yes, she already takes the seat at the wall where she has a good overview of the room.
"I'm Jominda and you?" she asks Stam and offers a hand.

Darius Redgrave |

Ah. Okay. Yeah I don't wanna write myself too far cos I'm still fairly new and am still sussing out the limits of my control :)
Darius shakes Stams hand and greets him with a smile before sitting in a chair beside Jominda.
"You would assume right. Call me Darius. I hope we're not intruding. Grergof how're you feeling after this mornings excursion? Sorry pardon me if we're interrupting your current conversation. I think I heard mention of mysteries?" and as they continue Darius signals for a waitress and orders a round of drinks for everyone whatever they might like.

Stam Truthfinder |

Stam will shake both hands, holding out the chair for Jominda.
"Stam Truthfinder is my name, just on my way to Lepidstadt when I encountered a problem with my Ox that is all fixed now. Grergof was just showing me the cursed manacles and going to tell me more about this Harrow Stone place. Might be a place some lost arcane items that I could study to further my skills.
just in case people didn't know, Stam's clothing is the Black and While of Nethys God of Magic. He also has a Nethys mask.

Brother Grergof Varsk |

Grergof looks concerned as the two approach.
Wow, Miss Fallenbridge, while the change of clothes is impressive. Please tell me you are not planning on accompanying Mr Redgrave on anything too active. It would seem like at least one day's rest would be of great help to you.
Plus, as I said, knowing you are here working to bottle up healing would help us greatly. We took some serious wounds from one of the spirits in the Harrowstone and I worry that the healing the good father gave us may leave the town vulnerable if something strange happens tonight.
Knowing you are here helping the town would settle my mind greatly.

Jominda Fallenbridge __ |

"Nice to meet you Stam." Jominda replies.
Turning to Grergof she adds "Darius got me out of bed. I think he would suggest that I come along to fight that ghost. But at the moment I see stars every time I get up too fast. And the last time I looked into a mirror I still was as pale as death himself."
"But I need something to eat and Darius promised to treat me to dinner if I come along so I agreed to leave my house." Jominda replies.

Brother Grergof Varsk |

Grergof leans over and whispers to Darius:
Mr Redgrave, what do you think... if he is a wizard, do we want to ask him about the book?

Darius Redgrave |

Darius leans in and listens to Grergof and nods and gives a reply.
"He seems on the up and up. Not like your typical Chelaxian, which is good. Besides what do we have to loose?"
Darius then sits up and speaks to Stam. "So Stam, you follow Nethys? Fascinating. Especially being a Chelaxian. But I digress. Actually you being here is rather fortuitous. We have a particular tome that could use a mag'es eyes to help us figure out it's workings. And being the only other new person in town you might be of help to us. Since we have made very few friends in town."
He then looks a Jominda and smiles as he gives his next reply. "But they are good people and it's why Brother Grergof and I and our other friend, who is currently resting, have offered to help this community."

Jominda Fallenbridge __ |

"Haha. Darius is quite the charmer. And I guess he's already friends with everyone who is worth his friendship here."
"But be careful Stam. These three got the job no one else here would touch with a barge pole."
"I wonder why you left Cheliax. But if you left to find a better place you have have seriously taken a wrong turn. Ustalav might have no devils. But it is mostly dead. And everything that is not dead might turn out as undead on closer inspection."
"Which reminds me. Sarianna I'm hungry. Would you bring me something? Preferrably something big and meaty."

GM Foxy |
"You want it raw now or medium with a side of potatoes in fifteen minutes?" Sarianna asks rhetorically. She moves to the kitchen and shouts in "Make the usual meal for Jominda and make it quick before she starts gnawing on our guests."
On the neighbouring table a couple of guys play poker for coppers. But just as one guy jumps up to throw his winning hand on the table the cards burst into flames that flare up to a height of two feet. All guys stagger up to their feet and raise their hands to protect their eyes.
Fort Save for all but Stam to avoid being blinded by the flash.
Fort Darius DC15: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Fort Grergof DC15: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Fort Jominda DC15: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
As the bright flash is gone the cards lay on the table as if nothing happened. Nothing is burnt, but the smell of smoke is still present in all of the room. Everyone is silent in shock.

Darius Redgrave |

Darius rises to his feet and draws his sword and redies himself to protect his friends and scans the room for danger.
"Be calm my friends."
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23

Stam Truthfinder |

"I would be more than willing to take a look at your book, I don't have the right spells prepared for today to read said magic but a night of just talking would be find also, Ned is not the most conversational of companions."
As the explosion goes off Stam will look for the source of the bang, using detect magic on the cards and all the items on the table.
perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22

Darius Redgrave |

"I see no enemies. Everyone be calm. The blindness should wear off briefly quickly. Try not to move around, you could fall. just keep your eyes closed and give them a chance to recover. I shall let you know should any threats appear."
Darius stands guardedly over everyone near his table.
Not sure if theres anything I can do to help their blindness. But just in case I'll roll a Heal check.
Heal: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23

Jominda Fallenbridge __ |

As her eyesight comes back Jominda realizes that she points her sword at Grergof and Stam. Embarrassed she puts it down on her lap under the table. She is so full of adrenaline that her hands are shaking. She looks around the room anxiously afraid to miss something in this surreal scene.

GM Foxy |
As nothing else is happens whispered murmurs start as everyone asks his neighbour what that was. Most of the guests throw a few coins on the table and leave the inn. They had enough for the day and want to be home before it gets dark.
A drunk guy who sits with his back to the table where it happened orders just another beer and Sarianna still stands behind the bar in shock. Some more guests who sit in front of their meals hurry to finish them to leave too.

Darius Redgrave |

"I'm sorry about that. But I feel like you'll be safer with us."
Darius looks over to Gregof and once Grergof can see again asks: "Grergof, do you think maybe Kendra has a spare room for Jominda over there? Just till this all tides over and she won't be alone while we're out ridding Harrowstone of the undead and in the evening she won't be alone in her home either?"

Brother Grergof Varsk |

When he can see again, Brother Varsk moves over to stand near the other table.
Excuse me good masters, do you mind if I look at those cards?
Assuming he gets a positive reply he examines the cards (including detecting for evil on both the cards and scanning the room in general) then returns to the table.
After returning Grergof thinks for a second then Replies as he hears Darius's question:
It is probably better that she is not alone. If Kendra is agreeable, She can have my bed.
I have my bedroll, and that is just as comfortable as the pallets we sleep on in the monastery. So I can sleep on the floor in any other room.
I never slept well on the bed anyway, it's far too soft.

GM Foxy |
The cook comes out of the kitchen "The meal for Miss Fallenbridge is ready." As he looks around he asks "Where are all the guests?"
"Gone." Sariana replies. She takes the plate and carefully walks giving the table with the cards a wide berth. "Here your meal." She puts the plate in front of Jominda but always keeps an eye on the other table. She would like to leave too. But she lives here.

Jominda Fallenbridge __ |

"Mmmmmh. Wonderful." Jominda states as she takes in the smell of this delicious meal. Now at least the smell is one of idyllic home and not burned prison. "You take care of the room and keep what ever that was away. I take care of this plate and it's delicious contents." She grabs the cutlery devours the meal. But she keeps watching the room nonetheless.

Darius Redgrave |

"I don't know about you all but I don't think that was something random. Be wary this evening. There's an itch in my old bones telling me something's up." Darius warns

Jominda Fallenbridge __ |

"No hard drink for me. But please bring a bottle of that good red wine and two glasses. And a pitcher of water please." Jominda replies. As she gets a questioning look she adds "What? Dying hungry and thirsty doesn't make dying any more pleasant. So if this should turn out to be more serious than it looks now at least I'll die with a full stomach."

Jominda Fallenbridge __ |

"Are you trying to ruin my meal for me?" Jominda complains and shakes her head.
"But to the question at hand. Since these nice guys came to pay their last respect to the deceased Professor Lorrimor our nice town has seen more than it's share of undead. The clever ones in town believe it to be related to the prison. Because it is haunted. The stupid ones think it is related to our friends here. But luckily the important people in town are either smart or at least opportunistic enough to let them deal with the prison. As all this haunting seems to spill over into town as of late. We had walking dead, walking skeletons and flying burning skulls the last days. And a crazy guy who walks around cutting beautiful innocent girls open."

Jominda Fallenbridge __ |

"Yes I am. Want to see my scar?" Jominda says and rolls up her sleeve.
"But I'm only giving you the rough outline of events. I've been at the Harrowstone once but it scared me almost to death. If you want details Darius and Grergof have to tell you."

Darius Redgrave |

"When we first went to the Harrowstone there were tuned in blood written along the grounds. We suspect that possibly it was some kind of circle of power holding the undead inside but we cannot be sure. We are planning on going back their tomorrow if you want a first hand look? We could use the extra Fireball power I'm sure. Unless you have other pressing engagements?"
Darius takes a swig of his drink after that and gives a nod to Grergof.

Stam Truthfinder |

[ooc]did the book get handed over?{/ooc]
Stam will give a thoughtful look to Darius, "I feel like it would be best interest to myself to have a look, I don't want to impose myself up you gentlemen. 2 people might just not be enough."

Brother Grergof Varsk |

Was there anything odd about the cards even if they did it detect as evil?
As he returns to the table Grergof calls over to Sariana:
Mistress if you don't mind, could I get some bread and any pint of any beer you have?
As the innkeeper leaves Grergof seems to make up his mind about something.
I suppose I've never formally introduced myself, I am Brother Grergof Varsk, and what Miss Fallenbridge says is correct.
If you really want to help we actually have something that a follower of Nethys might be able to help with.
He lowers his voice so it can not be heard beyond the table:
I have in my possession a cursed spell book associated with one of the spirits that is causing all the problems in the Harrowstone. We have it on good information that this item not only is cursed and dangerous, but also can be used against the spirit to help us put it to rest.
We just faught this spirit to a draw, and we're forced to retreat. As such we are in need of every advantage when we confront this spirit again. Ignoring this spirit is not an option, as it needs to be put down for the good of the town.
So are you willing to look at this book for us and try to determine how it can be used against this dpirit? I will warn you we know it will show your name written in blood, and may well scare you, but beyond that we know next to nothing about it.

Stam Truthfinder |

I can prepare myself to read the book tonight with the appropriate rituals to protect myself and anyone about. I will rent a room here for the night."
Stam then turns to Jominda, "Do you have any abandoned buildings that I can perform the reading in tonight?"

Jominda Fallenbridge __ |

"What do you think it is? It looks just like a moldy old book." Jominda asks with a raised eyebrow. "And no, the only abandoned place here is the Harrowstone. But I would strongly advise not to go there tonight to read the book."

Brother Grergof Varsk |

Father Grimbrough already looked at the book and was unable to tell us about it. Miss Lorrimor has been able to tell us the most about the book so far. We could ask her if she would be willing to let us examine the book further in her house.
