Narrator

There is a knock at the door. Kendra gets up and answers the door. It is Father Grimburrow and Sheriff Caeller.

Male Human Cleric of Pharasma (7)

"Good morning my dear. How are you?" Father Grimburrow greets Kendra. "We are here to talk to the friends of the Professor. If we might?" He walks in without waiting for an answer.

male Human Ranger 2

The Sheriff takes off his hat greets Kendra "Mam." and follows Father Grimburrow.

Male Human Cleric of Pharasma (7)

The Father approaches the breakfast table and takes a seat at the head of it. "Good morning to you."

"As you already expected fur sure I have some questions. We had over half dozen undead walking around in Ravengro yesterday. And despite my expectation to find a necromancer somewhere we didn't see anything of that kind."

"I don't believe in such things just being coincidences. And as you told me just yesterday that you wanted to visit the Harrowstone I must know if you have been there. And what you did there."

"We went there alright," Aada says as she walks into the scene, "Place is a ruinous mess. However, we were attacked there by strange blackened skeletons. We also found strange marks, made from blood for possible necromantic purpose. Something is wrong there."

Male Human Cleric of Pharasma (7)

"You didn't do anything but look around? No touching these marks, no moving stuff? Anything that could have caused these undead to happen as a result? Something that could be undone?" Father Grimburrow inquires.

We examined the outside area and noticed a large colony of rats in a guardstower. We then saw a large block of stone that had toppled off the roof and examined it, noticing blood stains. The professor was found near such a block when his body was found, yes? When we looked at the pool of water, that is when we were assaulted by strange black boned skeletons and managed to put them down. Since it was getting dark we then returned to town to find the remains of the professor trying to break down the door of his house.

Male Human Cleric of Pharasma (7)

The Father sighs and his shoulders sag.

male Human Ranger 2

"And where have you been after the incident with the undead here in Revengro?" Sheriff Caeller asks in his all business no fun tone. As usual.

Male Human Cleric of Pharasma (7)

"As I told you." Father Grimburrow comments.

male Human Ranger 2

"But who else should do that? One of our farmers?" the Sheriff hollers back.

Male Human Cleric of Pharasma (7)

"I don't think so. But we have bigger problems here and these ladies and gentlemen here are our best bet to solve them. Or do you want to go to the Harrowstone?" the Father asks.

"I would also like to mention, gentlemen, that I examined the gargoyle that fell on the Professor. No touching, just looking, but it was still apparent to me that it fell not from old age and rot, but someone using tools."

Male Human Cleric of Pharasma (7)

"So let's assume that there is someone else that we haven't found yet who is playing foul with Ravengro." the Father suggests to the Sheriff.

male Human Ranger 2

"Hrmpf. I'm going to investigate further." the Sheriff tells and leaves.

Male Human Cleric of Pharasma (7)

"Just so you know. Someone desecrated the Harrowstone memorial with blood last night." Father Grimburrow explains.

He takes a deep breath. "You wanted to know something as you visited me yesterday. As it is unavoidable to look into the Harrowstone now I will help you. Waht did you want?"

"That is not correct. It is a cache of the church of Pharasma that my father knew of. He would never abuse a crypt - and a crypt it is no grave - to hide something." Kendra corrects Aada watching jealously over her fathers reputation.

Male Human Cleric of Pharasma (7)

"I have no knowledge of such things. My proprietor didn't tell me anything about such a cache." the Father replies astonished. "Where exactly is that cache?"

"Good question." Darius says a touch of snark in his voice.

"If you'll excuse me. I'm sure my companions here can answer any other questions you might have. I have other matter in the house to attend to. Lady Lorrimar if I may?" Darius says with a bow.

If Kendra doesn't protest, Darius will take his leave to the library and do some research.

"Would you accompany me there so we might take a look at what the Professor wrote about? Or do you have other things you want to talk about before?" The Father asks.

Narrator

Lucy:
The library bonus of this one is +2
The Whispering Way is a sinister organization of necromancers that has been active in the Inner Sea region for thousands of years.
Agents of the Whispering Way often seek alliances with undead creatures, or are themselves undead. The Whispering Way’s most notorious member was Tar-Baphon, the Whispering Tyrant, although the society itself has existed much longer than even that mighty necromancer.

The Whispering Way itself is a series of philosophies that can only be transferred via whispers — the philosophies are never written or spoken of loudly, making the exact goals and nature of the secretive philosophy difficult for outsiders to learn much about.

Male Human Cleric of Pharasma (7)

Father Grimburrow walks the way to the Restlands in a hurried pace. He is eager to see what there is hidden and what kind of help it will be to end that threat to Ravengro. Walking along the Eversleep he looks around as they approach the crossing with the Black Path. As there are not many crypts in the Restlands it is obvious which one it must be.

"There it is." the father tells and approaches the tomb. He gestures a spiral over his heart and utters a prayer. Then he grabs the handle and tries to open the door.

Narrator

The crypt itself is a freestanding granite mausoleum, the roof of which is decorated with a pair of leering gargoyle statues. A single stone door with a rustylooking lock sits in the mausoleum’s south facade. As the Father opens the door parts of the lock falls out on the ground. Most of what held it together is corroded.

Perception DC12 or Craft(Alchemy) DC8:
It didn't corrode on itself. It was treated with acid.

Within, a flight of stone steps leads down into the cold earth to a large crypt lined with empty niches — no dead are interred here. Another flight of stairs leads further down into the crypt. It is dark in here and the light through the door only lights the center of the first room to dim light.

Along the way Darius speaks to Brother Grergof. "It's this town and these people. I can't believe the Professor lived here. They are so unwelcoming. We offer aid and they threaten us. And with that he heads into the crypt.

"I assume the cache might be in here. Wonder if it may be trapped though. But that's not in my skill set to determine."

Male Human Cleric of Pharasma (7)

Father Grimburrow cast light and follows Darius down into the lower part of the crypt. Looking around it becomes clear that there is no one buried here and the sarcophagus is indeed the only thing in here.

The father again gestures the spiral over his heart and speaks a prayer. "Would you please remove the lid of this sacophagus. But be careful that it doesn't fall and break."

It is heavy. To remove it at least two persons are needed
