Father Grimburrow __ |

The Father approaches the breakfast table and takes a seat at the head of it. "Good morning to you."
"As you already expected fur sure I have some questions. We had over half dozen undead walking around in Ravengro yesterday. And despite my expectation to find a necromancer somewhere we didn't see anything of that kind."
"I don't believe in such things just being coincidences. And as you told me just yesterday that you wanted to visit the Harrowstone I must know if you have been there. And what you did there."

Aada Bladotter |

"We went there alright," Aada says as she walks into the scene, "Place is a ruinous mess. However, we were attacked there by strange blackened skeletons. We also found strange marks, made from blood for possible necromantic purpose. Something is wrong there."

Spugnoir2 |

We examined the outside area and noticed a large colony of rats in a guardstower. We then saw a large block of stone that had toppled off the roof and examined it, noticing blood stains. The professor was found near such a block when his body was found, yes? When we looked at the pool of water, that is when we were assaulted by strange black boned skeletons and managed to put them down. Since it was getting dark we then returned to town to find the remains of the professor trying to break down the door of his house.

Lucy Arroway |

"I would also like to mention, gentlemen, that I examined the gargoyle that fell on the Professor. No touching, just looking, but it was still apparent to me that it fell not from old age and rot, but someone using tools."

Father Grimburrow __ |

"Just so you know. Someone desecrated the Harrowstone memorial with blood last night." Father Grimburrow explains.
He takes a deep breath. "You wanted to know something as you visited me yesterday. As it is unavoidable to look into the Harrowstone now I will help you. Waht did you want?"

Kendra Lorrimor __ |

"That is not correct. It is a cache of the church of Pharasma that my father knew of. He would never abuse a crypt - and a crypt it is no grave - to hide something." Kendra corrects Aada watching jealously over her fathers reputation.

Darius Redgrave |

"Good question." Darius says a touch of snark in his voice.
"If you'll excuse me. I'm sure my companions here can answer any other questions you might have. I have other matter in the house to attend to. Lady Lorrimar if I may?" Darius says with a bow.
If Kendra doesn't protest, Darius will take his leave to the library and do some research.

Kendra Lorrimor __ |

Kendra gives Darius a glare for being snarky to Father Grimburrow but makes no comment.
"My father's journal said something about a crypt at the crossing of the Black Path and The Eversleep." Kendra replies to the Father.

Kendra Lorrimor __ |

Kendra moves to the library and tells Darius "I'm leaving with the Father to look for that crypt. Would you please put the chain on the door now and open for us when we come back?"
She then hurries to follow the Father. As it is an official search now her curiosity got the better of her.

Darius Redgrave |

"Dammitall. NOW everyone wants to go to the crypt!" Darrius groans.
"Hold on. Hold on! I'll come with. Since it's what I wanted to do first anyway." Darius plods along. The whole way grumbling under his breath.

Brother Grergof Varsk |

Brother Varsk follows along with the group, listening to what is being said.
As he listens to Darrius grumble he drops back to talk quietly to him.
Mr Redgrave, it is obvious something is bothering you, may I ask what it is?

Lucy Arroway |

Lucy hangs back. "You guys go on ahead. Someone needs to look into the Whispering Way, and hopefully the professor's books will help." With that, she retreats into the library.
Knowledge Religion: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
forgot the +4 so that's actually 22

GM Foxy |
The Whispering Way is a sinister organization of necromancers that has been active in the Inner Sea region for thousands of years.
Agents of the Whispering Way often seek alliances with undead creatures, or are themselves undead. The Whispering Way’s most notorious member was Tar-Baphon, the Whispering Tyrant, although the society itself has existed much longer than even that mighty necromancer.
The Whispering Way itself is a series of philosophies that can only be transferred via whispers — the philosophies are never written or spoken of loudly, making the exact goals and nature of the secretive philosophy difficult for outsiders to learn much about.

Father Grimburrow __ |

Father Grimburrow walks the way to the Restlands in a hurried pace. He is eager to see what there is hidden and what kind of help it will be to end that threat to Ravengro. Walking along the Eversleep he looks around as they approach the crossing with the Black Path. As there are not many crypts in the Restlands it is obvious which one it must be.
"There it is." the father tells and approaches the tomb. He gestures a spiral over his heart and utters a prayer. Then he grabs the handle and tries to open the door.

GM Foxy |
The crypt itself is a freestanding granite mausoleum, the roof of which is decorated with a pair of leering gargoyle statues. A single stone door with a rustylooking lock sits in the mausoleum’s south facade. As the Father opens the door parts of the lock falls out on the ground. Most of what held it together is corroded.
Within, a flight of stone steps leads down into the cold earth to a large crypt lined with empty niches — no dead are interred here. Another flight of stairs leads further down into the crypt. It is dark in here and the light through the door only lights the center of the first room to dim light.

Craft:Alchemy: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
Spunoir's trained eye picks out tell-tale scarring on the lock. Hmm. That lock was burned with acid, someone may very well have been here before us.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Spugnoir points at the floor. Tracks! From the look of all the dust, I am guessing that these are from Professor Lorrimor since they are recent.

Darius Redgrave |

Along the way Darius speaks to Brother Grergof. "It's this town and these people. I can't believe the Professor lived here. They are so unwelcoming. We offer aid and they threaten us. Now they come asking for help. I don't like it and don't trust any of them. Somethings going on here. And I want to find out what."
And with that he heads into the crypt.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Darius will move further down the stairs to the sarcophagus. And examines the sarcophagus but doesn't open it.
"I assume the cache might be in here. Wonder if it may be trapped though. But that's not in my skill set to determine."

Father Grimburrow __ |

Father Grimburrow cast light and follows Darius down into the lower part of the crypt. Looking around it becomes clear that there is no one buried here and the sarcophagus is indeed the only thing in here.
The father again gestures the spiral over his heart and speaks a prayer. "Would you please remove the lid of this sacophagus. But be careful that it doesn't fall and break."
It is heavy. To remove it at least two persons are needed

GM Foxy |
As Spugnoir and Darius carefully put the lid of the sarcophagus on the ground it becomes obvious that this is no final resting place for someone.
You find the cache described by Professor Lorrimor. I contains a fair amount of useful material. A dozen silver arrows, four sun rods, six flasks of holy water, 10 magic arrows wrapped in paper, five ghost touch arrows bound together, two undead bane arrows bound together, five potions of cure light wounds, two potions of lesser restoration, a scroll of detect undead, two scrolls of hide from undead, a scroll of protection from evil, everything labled. And a thin darkwood case decorated with an image of a scarab with a single eye glaring from its back
Assuming anyone either stayed outside (like Kendra) or came down to the Sarcophagus

Darius Redgrave |

"This is an impressive collection of weapons to use against the undead." Darius remarks looking at the cache.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
"Huh... What's that clicking sound? Does anyone else hear that?" Darius' hand instinctively goes to his sword and starts to draw it from its scabbard.

Brother Grergof Varsk |

Brother Varsk follows the group down into the crypt.

Survival: 1d20 ⇒ 10
Sense motive: 1d20 ⇒ 5
Perception Second room: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Grergof is blissfully unaware of everything obviously.
What clicking sound? I don't hear anything....
He looks around again trying to see anything, including up the dark stairs.

Brother Grergof Varsk |

A trap? Maybe opening the sarcophagus set something off.
He keeps looking around trying to see anything out of the ordinary with his flail drawn.
I'm not seeing anything, but just in case, Father should we gather up the items and go?
