| GM Faelyn |
Hey all, so very sorry about my unexplained absence. My last night of work last week (Sunday), I was told I had rifle training Monday-Wednesday on no notice. The last three days were very fun, but very time-consuming and tiring. I was exhausted after getting home and tag on taking care of a toddler solo... well, I'm sorry I didn't at least get in to explain my absence.
So, to clarify... you guys are headed back to the Pilgrim cave and check out the other tunnel before continuing further in this cave?
Scraps the Homunculus
|
Before anyone else can react, Scraps moves to the fore shoving, kicking and biting at those behind him. Once there, Scraps gives a desperate and affirmative "Pbbtpth!!"
Syllyn
|
Yes
| GM Faelyn |
Okay, moving on!
The cave’s damp air becomes increasingly stale as the PCs continue down through this tunnel, and as they approach this area, the stench of decay grows increasingly evident. The passage turns to the east and opens into a small cavern littered with bits of broken glass, rotting pieces of paper, and other unusable detritus. The body of a male dhampir lies facedown toward the back of the cavern. There are also four animated skeletons standing aimlessly in the foul-smelling cavern... They turn suddenly at the intrusion, a red fire burning deep in their empty eye sockets...
No Surprise round, just initiative. New map is up!

Round 1, Group 1 Actions!
Two of the skeletons rush forward towards Sune, luckily for her the narrow tunnel prevents both of them getting to her; however, the first skeleton to reach her cuts a deep gash into her arm with its claws! The other claws at the wall, trying to get at the group!
Uslad is up!
Blue Claw #1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Blue Claw #2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Red - 4/4
Green - 4/4
Yellow - 4/4
Sune - 8/12
| GM Faelyn |
I'll give Uslad until 5:00 PM CST tonight to post and then his actions will be skipped.
Uslad the Grumpy
|
'Damn crush! How come so many of you in front of me if I snuck ahead first?'
Uslad is looking at the crowd in shock, clearly not knowing how to break forward.
Lowers the initiative to group 3.
Igor of Caliphas
|
I'm assuming group 2 is up next. I might be busy for the next 24+ hours so assuming the tactical situation doesn't change too dramatically Igor and Scraps do the following on their turn.
"Oh, my! I have one of thothe in my lab back in Caliphath!" Grips morningstar and delays for room to open up.
"Thrapth! Thic 'em!" Igor's mistress feels the warm damp on the back of her neck.
Scraps the Homunculus
|
Scraps eyes its creator as if the man were--well, crazy.... Some part of its brain (that little wobbly, green-gray bit near his spinal cord) however says: They are bones though....
Scraps deflates a bit, shrugs, turns and flies forward, unleashing a terrifying battlecry(?) akin to someone sitting on an inflated bladder. "BURBLPOOFT!!"
unimproved bull rush v blue: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
fly check for collision: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (14) + 0 = 14
YAY! Someone needs to animate this scene. Scraps can fly/cannonball 30 ft. It pushes the blue skeleton back as far as it can, and then promptly crashes to the floor prone.
Sune Wanderlust
|
Sune cries out as the creature's filthy claws tear into her skin, but responds in kind, with a blow from her greatclub.
If that kills it, I'll run into the room into the bottom left corner.
greatclub: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 241d10 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
acrobatics to avoid AoO: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
| GM Faelyn |
Group 1 - Blue Skelo, Yellow Skelo, Uslad. Group 2 - Red Skelo, Igor, Sune. Group 3 - Green Skelo, Syllyn, Padesat, Juhnavi
Round 1, Group 1 & 2 Recap
With nowhere to go, Uslad waits for an opening while Igor sends forth his strange little homonculous flying forward like a squishy cannonball! Scraps' small size works well as he...it... buzzes forward over everyone's heads and slams into the skeleton, pushing it away from the group several feet! The skeleton tries to claw Scraps, but cannot seem to connect with the strange creature... Sune moves forward, gracefully while avoiding giving her enemies a chance to harm her. She then crushes one of the skeletons (Red) with her greatclub!
Blue AoO: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Round 1, Group 3 Actions!
Sune, I took some liberties w/ your actions. If you decide you do not let like, let me know and you can post something different! I'll apologize in advance if that upsets you.
Syllyn
|
Syllyn will begin a magically infused martial rhythm which will provide Inspired Rage which you all may accept or not. He will hold back though. Too crowded up there and he cannot attack this round.
tat-a dat-tat-bat
Raging Song (Su): A skald is trained to use music, oration, and similar performances to inspire his allies to feats of strength and ferocity. At 1st level, a skald can use this ability for a number of rounds per day equal to 3 + his Charisma modifier. For each level beyond 1st, he can use raging song for 2 additional rounds per day.
Starting a raging song is a standard action, but it can be maintained each round as a free action. A raging song cannot be disrupted, but it ends immediately if the skald is killed, paralyzed, stunned, knocked unconscious, or otherwise prevented from taking a free action each round to maintain it. A raging song counts as the bard's bardic performance special ability for any effect that affects bardic performances. A skald may learn bard masterpieces.
A raging song has audible components, but not visual components. Allies must be able to hear the skald for the song to have any effect on them. A deaf skald has a 20% chance to fail when attempting to use a raging song. If he fails this check, the attempt still counts against his daily limit.
When the skald begins a raging song and then on each ally's turn, if the ally can hear the raging song, that ally must decide whether to accept or refuse its effects. This is not an action. Unconscious allies automatically accept the song. If accepted, the raging song's effects on that ally last for that ally's turn or until the song ends, whichever comes first.
Inspired Rage (Su) At 1st level, affected allies gain a +2 morale bonus to Strength and Constitution and a +1 morale bonus on Will saving throws, but also take a –1 penalty to AC. While under the effects of inspired rage, allies other than the skald cannot use any Charisma-, Dexterity-, or Intelligence-based skills (except Acrobatics, Fly, Intimidate, and Ride) or any ability that requires patience or concentration. At 4th level and every 4 levels thereafter, the song's bonuses on Will saves increase by 1; the penalty to AC doesn't change. At 8th and 16th levels, the song's bonuses to Strength and Constitution increase by 2. (Unlike the barbarian's rage ability, those affected are not fatigued after the song ends.) If an ally has her own rage class ability (such as barbarian's rage, bloodrager's bloodrage, or skald's inspired rage), she may use the Strength, Constitution, and Will saving throw bonuses, as well as AC penalties, based on her own ability and level instead of those from the skald (still suffering no fatigue afterward). However, inspired rage does not allow the ally to activate abilities dependent on other rage class abilities, such as rage powers, blood casting, or bloodrager bloodlines; the ally must activate her own rage class ability in order to use these features.
Padesát-Dva
|
"Get back, li'l buddy! It's too crowded here."
The corgi moves back.
The barbarian moves forward, goes into a rage, and attacks the yellow skeleton.
"GRAAAAGH!"
Attack+Rage+Power Attack: 1d20 + 5 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (20) + 5 + 2 - 1 = 26, Damage+Rage+Power Attack: 2d4 + 6 + 2 + 3 ⇒ (3, 3) + 6 + 2 + 3 = 17
Crit?: 1d20 + 5 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (4) + 5 + 2 - 1 = 10, Probably not
| GM Faelyn |
Uslad, you are also part of Group 3 now, sorry I forgot to adjust the Initiative groups. I'll give Uslad and Juhnavi until tomorrow afternoon around 2:00 PM CST before we continue on to Round 2.
Igor of Caliphas
|
That reminds me.... Delayed action!
"THRAPTH!!" Igor charges into the chamber and swings his big spiked steel-headed club in big, wild arcs.
morningstar v blue: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9 damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Missing the skeleton (at least) with every blow.
Uslad the Grumpy
|
Uslad bypasses the enemy from the back, clearly not intending to be substituted. On the move he takes out his dwarf halberd and begins to sing a famous dwarf battle song, however trying to get into a rhythm with Syllyn.
| GM Faelyn |
Hey all, something came up at the last minute... Won't have an update until tomorrow morning most likely. Sorry!
Juhnavi Ahliwylia
|
Juhnavi moves up, drawing her sword, but isn't able to get close enough to attack.
Move action: move up adjacent to foe. Standard as Move: draw weapon. Can't wait for that +1 BAB!
| GM Faelyn |
Blue skeleton goes at the top of the round and Green skelo goes at the bottom, so everyone can post their actions. They will occur in order of posting.
Round 1, Group 3 Recap
Padesat rushes forward and obliterates one of the skeletons in a shower of wet bone fragments! Uslad and Juhnavi move into the room to prepare for a melee! Unfortunately for Juhnavi, her new position makes her a perfect target for one of the remaining skeletons that steps up and cuts a ragged gash down her back with ones of its clawed hands!
Claw Attack #1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Claw Attack #2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Claw Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Round 2, Everyone's Actions!
The other skeleton ignores the little homunculus and focusing on a living target, Juhnavi! It claws at her body and succeeds in opening a wound along her shoulder!
Claw Attack #1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Claw Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Claw Attack #2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Juhnavi takes a total of 10 damage this round!
Yellow - 4/4
Sune - 8/12
Juhnavi - 2/12
Sune Wanderlust
|
Sune steps forward and absolutely obliterates the skeleton with the blue tabard.
"Hurry up, people! We don't have all day!"
greatclub: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 241d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
CRIT?: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 191d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Syllyn
|
Well, actually we do. I wonder what her hurry is?
Syllyn moves forward behind the crown but does little more than continue his raging rhythm as room is at a premium. That doesn't bother him as he curiously watches the way the different pathfinders address the undead. Always curious. Always learning.
| GM Faelyn |
Still one more skeleton left folks!
Igor of Caliphas
|
"IGOR THMATH!" Cries Igor in bestial fury.
morningstar: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 + 2 = 15 damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Syllyn
|
That should do it!
| GM Faelyn |
Indeed it does!
Igor crushes the remaining skeleton in an explosion of bone fragments! What would you like to do?
Syllyn
|
How about report? I think we have what we came for.
Igor of Caliphas
|
Igor raises his morningstar (gaffi stick) above his head and gives a triumphant shout.
perception (accidentally having a look round): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Scraps the Homunculus
|
Scarps merely puts its head in it's hands in embarrassment over it's creator actions. Oh creator!
perception (trying not to look around, and embarrassed as to what it might see): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
| GM Faelyn |
As Igor looks around, he spots what appears to be a portion of parchment sticking out of the pockets of the dead dhampir, in addition to a very nice looking ring and amulet around his neck. Lastly, he spots what appears to be a hidden doorway along the northern wall...
Going to skip over the obligatory "I detect magic" posts and just let you all know that that the ring and amulet are both magical. Ring of Protection +1 and Amulet of Natural Armor +1. I figure that would be better than wasting time having you all post, then my reaction to the post, etc. What next!?
Also, if Sune and Juhnavi could please update their current HP please? Sune is 8/12 and Juhnavi is 2/12.
Igor of Caliphas
|
More triumphant shouting, until Scraps comes up and slaps him.
"Oh? Thorry, I thometimeth get carried away." He looks about sheepishly. "Uthually, I burn off that energy ringing the bell in my lath mather'th bell tower."
He looks to Juhnavi hopefully.
Sune Wanderlust
|
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 Could someone activate my CLW wand for me please?
"Well, we should take that secret door!" Sune says hurriedly. "We don't know what might be behind it...some adventure, surely!" she adds.
Syllyn
|
@Sune - consider it activated.
"What door? I don't see a door! Sounds very interesting. We don't have secret doors where I come from. If we want to hide something we stuff it in a hidden cave or under a rock."
Igor of Caliphas
|
"I'm afraid I have no bell tower..."
"Oh." Parts of Igor's face look sad.
| GM Faelyn |
Ok then! Just a reminder... Juhnavi is at 2 HP...
The group continues through the secret door and find themselves in a narrow tunnel that splits into two off shoots that rejoin the main tunnel a few feet later. The group examines both and find them to be completely empty. Ahead there is a horrible smell of rot and decay coming from a dark patch of strange mushrooms growing completely across the tunnel, blocking access to the faint Sune can see at the other end... Also you faintly hear the sounds of singing echoing down the tunnel.
Just as Sune is about to walk through the patch of mushrooms, Juhnavi, Igor, and Uslad all suddenly notice something very strange from their position about the patch of mushrooms... It looked almost as if the entire patch just moved!
Map updated.
Igor Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Juhnavi Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Padesát-Dva Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
Sune Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Syllyn Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Uslad Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
Juhnavi Know:Dun: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
Syllyn
|
Syllyn would like to retroactively cast CLW from his wand on Juhnavi.
| GM Faelyn |
Sounds good, Syllyn. Go ahead and make your rolls.
Syllyn
|
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
that'll do.
Igor of Caliphas
|
"Thune! Can you cut me a thample? I'm thort of thuck back here."
He pulls out a towel and dries the back of Juhnavi's neck. He would say 'Thorry' but....
Juhnavi Ahliwylia
|
Junavi shudders at the feeling of being spat upon by Igor's words. She silently chants one of Irori's mantras about peace and serenity, while watching the mushrooms cautiously.
"Careful... I'm not sure what those are... maybe it's a loose patch of ground, rather than the mushrooms themselves."
| GM Faelyn |
Sorry! I don't know why that keeps happening, but the map is now editable.
Syllyn
|
So what happened when scraps entered the area?
