Juhnavi Ahliwylia |
"Might be a trap, I see something at the bottom. Anyone have a rope? I'll climb down and see what it is."
Uslad the Grumpy |
Survival: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26
"This is exactly the trap. The pit dug not more than a year ago!" - Uslad appears as if from nowhere, as if separated from the wall, with which he seemed to be a single entity through the darkness. "
Then he spits into the pit, steps back and with a running jump through it.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Padesát-Dva |
"Anyone have a rope?"
"I do."
____________________________________________________________Then he spits into the pit, steps back and with a running jump through it.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
To Uslad: LOL! :) "Nice jump. Hey, how about I toss you one end of this rope so everyone else can make it across safely?"
____________________________________________________________To Juhnavi: "There's more than enough rope here that we can use part of it to span the pit and the remainder for you to climb down. I can brace the rope for you."
I'll take 10 for a 14 STR check to perform an Aid Another action for Juhvani once the rope is set up to everyone's satisfaction.
Syllyn |
Rope? As in do the ape-thing and climb across a rope? Hmm. I guess small lizards to to. But I happen to be a large lizard with tiny claws. I don't climb and I don't jump. Hey! Is there a board over there or something?
His dubious look as he reacted to the plan involving traversing on a rope turns to hope as he asks about a board.
Juhnavi Ahliwylia |
With a rope to brace herself against the wall, Juhnavi has little trouble climbing down, even with her heavy breastplate. DC of climbing a rope with a wall to brace against is 5, she can take 10 for 9.
She reaches the bottom and examines the cloth, both visually, magically, and with her mind's eye. Taking 10 on Spellcraft and Appraise, using Detect Magic and the Psychometry occult skill unlock.
Uslad the Grumpy |
"Aye, Big Guy, that's the plan" - Uslad nods to Padesát-Dva, again loudly and expressively spits in the pit, then spits on hands, rubs them and shows that he's ready to catch the rope.
Syllyn |
Syllyn is not going to try this with his mail. Without the mail and shield he has +3, with it he has -3. So he takes it off, climbs about taking 10, and puts it back on afterwards.
Not too bad, I guess.
Sune Wanderlust |
"Must we all take the slow way?" Sune asks as the others contemplate how to pass.
The sylph simply walks to the edge of the pit, steps into it, and floats to the bottom as if protected by a gentle breeze.
I have airy step (ignore first 30' of drop) + feather fall if that didn't work for some reason, so I'll just hop right in! I'll then climb the other side with the rope.
take 10 climb
Igor of Caliphas |
Igor clambers along the rope and walls as if he were brought up in a bell tower. There's something vaguely simian in the way he does so. Taking 10 for 12.
Scraps merely drones across on its huge dragonfly wings.
GM Faelyn |
Everyone is able to easily cross the pit without issues. Juhnavi examines the bundle, which she is able to determine is a magical cloak; however, she is not quite able to identify its properties. (Just shy with your Take 10) She does delve into the lingering psychic energy and she receives a feeling of dismay and loss, as if the item held significance to its previous owner...
A little further down the tunnel, Uslad can see a plank leaning against the cave wall.
Sune Wanderlust |
Sune looks at the plank. "That may help us get back out," she muses quickly. "But that's something for another moment. Let's keep going!"
The impulsive sylph continues briskly down the tunnel.

Padesát-Dva |
The barbarian scribbles in his Pathfinder journal:
"Sune is impatient. Also, I wonder if Uslad should get checked out by our healers. He seems to have overactive saliva glands."
;-P Love the flavor behind everyone's characters.
The corgi merely shakes his head at Padesát-Dva and trots forward a few feet, sniffing at the air.

Syllyn notices that most of the barbarians notes are accompanied by doodles. The note about Uslad has a "drooling sad face" next to it.
XD
Igor of Caliphas |
The corgi merely shakes his head at Padesát-Dva and trots forward a few feet, sniffing at the air.
"You have a very good dog there Padethát-Dva, but there ith alwayth room for improvement." Igor says looking at the dog like a mechanic looking over an old fixer-upper.
Padesát-Dva |
Not truly comprehending the intent behind Igor's words, the barbarian heartily agrees. "Yes! That's why me and my li'l buddy always work out. It's like Master of Swords Marcos Farabellus always says: 'The path to victory begins with a lot of reps!'"
Meanwhile, the corgi tucks his tail between his legs and moves further away from the alchemist.
:-D
Uslad the Grumpy |
The note about Uslad has a "drooling sad face" next to it.
Haha! LOL! :)
"Damn humans."
Uslad wanted to spit, looking at the dogs and breeders, but then changed his mind - although he did not understand why.
"Okay, I'll go ahead. Lookin' for me by sounds of violence and cries of pain. Har-har-har!"
Stealth: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18 +1 in rocky areas
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13 +2 on stone
Goes exploring
Sune Wanderlust |
Sune, despite her impatience, comes back to see what everyone is looking at.
"You're sharing your notes? Is there a doodle by mine? Do we really have time for this?!"
Syllyn |
Actually, Syllyn was peeking and I don't think Paddy noticed or cared. Though you might have noticed Syllyn's nebby behavior, I don't think you were in any position to see the actual notes or the doodles.
GM Faelyn |
Juhnavi, what would you like to do with the cloak? Anything more?
Juhnavi Ahliwylia |
Just bring it up and ask if anyone else has the skills to try to figure it out.
"Anyone else want to try to figure this cloak out? It's magic but I can't quite tell what it is."
Syllyn |
Syllyn will take a look.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
GM Faelyn |
Syllyn identifies the cloak as a Cloak of Protection +1!
I will have more up later this afternoon when I get off work.
Syllyn |
The cloak gives a degree of protection from bad magical and natural effects. Shall we draw straws for it?
Juhnavi Ahliwylia |
"Let the Harrow decide." Juhnavi holds out her deck, shuffles the Constitution cards, and lets someone else cut them, and lets everyone draw a card. "Whoever gets the highest-ranked card wins."
We'll just simulate luck with a d20 roll like Igor did, but I'm giving it an in-character explanation.
1d20 ⇒ 6
Syllyn |
1d20 ⇒ 2
Useful thing, that deck, though not too kind.
Padesát-Dva |
Padesát-Dva leans over and whispers to his li'l buddy: "I bet you'd look cool in a cape! Whaddaya think?" The corgi merely yawns.
The barbarian nervously reaches out to pick a card from Juhnavi's deck. The microsecond before his fingers brush against a card, he pulls back: "No, no, no. Not that one."
He reaches out again, sweat beading on his forehead. Once again, before he actually selects a card, he shies away.
The big human takes a deep breath and reaches out for a card a third time. This time, as he's about to pick one, the corgi rolls his eyes and bumps into the big dope--literally knocking his hand into a card.
1d20 ⇒ 16
Realizing that he has a (*gasp*) Harrow card in his hand, the barbarian nervously asks: "What does it mean?"
Uslad the Grumpy |
"I'm a bloody god of war! I don't need this crap! Just give it to the Big Guy and let's go ahead damn you all! ARRRGHHH!!" - Uslad with great anger kicking the nearest stone and then with a cry grabs her leg. - "Damn, that hurt!"
Sune Wanderlust |
Sune looks back over her shoulder at the others.
"Look, if anyone is cold, you can take my cloak, too. Just stop bickering about it so we can keep going!"
Juhnavi Ahliwylia |
"It means you may wear this cloak, my friend," Juhnavi answers. "Harrow cards only predict the future when one is doing a reading."
-Posted with Wayfinder
Padesát-Dva |
The barbarian stares incredulously at the card for a moment. Then he slowly and carefully hands it back to the occultist. He tries to handle it gingerly--the way that an inexperienced person would handle hazardous materials.
He then glances at the corgi and shrugs: "What do you think, li'l buddy?"
The dog yawns again and pads over to Uslad.
Padesát-Dva dons the cloak, wincing as he does--as though afraid it will attack at any moment.
The dog rolls his eyes and sighs heavily.
GM Faelyn |
The tunnels continue on, leading deeper beneath the Kortos Mounts until they eventually open into a large cavern. What must have once been beautifully carved reliefs and inscriptions have since weathered heavily, their features dulled and softened to the point that it is hard to distinguish what each once depicted. A wide tunnel exits the cavern on its far side, and blue-burning torches line the passageway’s walls. There are 12 reliefs visible throughout the room, some are worn beyond recognition, but others may still be comprehendible.
Anyone that knows Azlanti and/or Aquan receives a +2 bonus per language they know. Players can read each spoiler whose DC is lower than your check results.
The Tailor is depicted sewing together a long cloth of featuring many patterns that wraps around a city like a moat, referencing Aroden’s proclamation that when the fate of all peoples is woven together, it shall be humanity’s greatest strength.
This map has been updated!
Sune Wanderlust |
Sune has already passed the walls by the time she realizes anything is inscribed on them, and then when the others arrive, is half-way to the next room.

"Sune, calm down, this is part of our task -- these inscriptions may have something to do with the reason the gillmen come here. Janira would want us to examine them in detail and report on our findings."

Syllyn points at another and says, "Yes, and this one could be the hunter - see how he slays the serpent here and the trophy - and this one over here could be the artist - the figure is painting and all. A curious deity, no?"
GM Faelyn |
You would be correct, Syllyn. Also, given that Syllyn has made the check for all four of the spoilers, you all can read all the information in the spoilers. I'm assuming that Syllyn would openly share all information he found! If I'm wrong, Syllyn, please do let me know.
Syllyn |
Of course. Share away!
Sune Wanderlust |
Sune comes back and waits while the others inscribe and decipher the inscriptions, though her constant foot tapping makes their studies more difficult.
GM Faelyn |
Anything else you guys want to do in here?
Igor of Caliphas |
I'm good, considering Igor has no useful skills for the room. He basically spends whatever time he has walking about and taking 20 on perception checks with Scraps.
Syllyn |
Syllyn will copy the images before moving on.
